১ম করিন্থীয় 14
1 তোমরা ভালোবাসার পথ অনুসরণ করো এবং আগ্রহের সঙ্গে আত্মিক বরদানগুলি কামনা করো, বিশেষত ভাববাণী বলার বরদান।
Follow after love; and be emulous of the gifts of the Spirit, and especially, that ye may prophesy.
2 কারণ কেউ যদি কোনো বিশেষ ভাষায় কথা বলে, সে মানুষের উদ্দেশে নয়, কিন্তু ঈশ্বরের উদ্দেশে কথা বলে। প্রকৃতপক্ষে, কেউ তার কথা বুঝতে পারে না; সে তার আত্মায় গুপ্তরহস্য উচ্চারণ করে।
For he that speaketh in a tongue, speaketh not unto men, but unto God; for no one understandeth what is said; yet in the spirit, he speaketh a mystery.
3 কিন্তু যে ব্যক্তি ভাববাণী বলে, সে মানুষের উদ্দেশে বলে, তাদের শক্তিশালী, প্রেরণা ও আশ্বাস-দান করার জন্যই বলে।
But he that prophesieth, speaketh unto men, for edification, and exhortation, and consolation.
4 যে বিশেষ ভাষায় কথা বলে, সে নিজেকে গেঁথে তোলে, কিন্তু যে ভাববাণী বলে, সে মণ্ডলীকে গেঁথে তোলে।
He that speaketh in a tongue, edifieth himself: and he that prophesieth, edifieth the church.
5 আমি ইচ্ছা করি, তোমরা প্রত্যেকেই যেন বিশেষ বিশেষ ভাষায় কথা বলতে পারো। কিন্তু আমি বেশি করে চাইব, তোমরা যেন ভাববাণী বলো। যে ভাববাণী বলে সে, যে বিশেষ সব ভাষায় কথা বলে, তার চেয়ে মহান, যদি না সে মণ্ডলীকে গেঁথে তোলার জন্য সেই ভাষার অর্থ ব্যাখ্যা করে দেয়।
Now I would that ye all spoke with tongues, but rather that ye prophesied; for greater is he that prophesieth, than he that speaketh in a tongue, unless he interpret; and if he interpret, he edifieth the church.
6 এখন ভাইবোনেরা, আমি যদি তোমাদের কাছে এসে বিশেষ বিশেষ ভাষায় কথা বলি, অথচ প্রত্যাদেশ, জ্ঞান বা ভাববাণী বা শিক্ষামূলক কোনো কথা না বলি, আমি তোমাদের কোন উপকারে লাগব?
And now, my brethren, if I should come among you, and speak to you in tongues, what should I profit you; unless I should speak to you either by revelation, or by knowledge, or by prophecy, or by doctrine?
7 এমনকি, বাঁশি বা বীণার মতো যেসব নিষ্প্রাণ বস্তু শব্দ সৃষ্টি করে, সেগুলির স্বরের মধ্যে তফাৎ সৃষ্টি না হলে, কেমন করে লোকে জানবে যে, কোন সুর বাজানো হচ্ছে?
For even inanimate things that emit sound, whether pipe or harp, if they make no distinction between one sound and another, how will it be known, what is sung or what is harped?
8 আবার তূরীধ্বনির আহ্বান যদি স্পষ্ট না হয়, তাহলে যুদ্ধের জন্য কে প্রস্তুত হবে?
And if the trumpet shall give an uncertain sound, who will prepare himself for the battle?
9 তোমাদের সম্পর্কেও একই কথা প্রযোজ্য। তোমাদের জিভের দ্বারা যদি বোধগম্য বাক্য উচ্চারণ না করো, তাহলে তোমরা কী বলছ, কেউ তা কীভাবে জানতে পারবে? তোমরা যেন বাতাসের সঙ্গে কথা বলবে।
So likewise if ye utter a discourse in a tongue, and there is no interpretation given, how will it be known what ye have said? Ye will have been as if ye spoke into the air.
10 নিঃসন্দেহে, জগতে সব ধরনের ভাষা আছে, তবুও সেগুলির কোনোটিই অর্থহীন নয়।
For lo, there are many kinds of tongues in the world; and there is not one of them without meaning.
11 তাহলে কারও কথার অর্থ আমি যদি উপলব্ধি করতে না পারি, তাহলে সেই বক্তার কাছে আমি হব বিদেশি, আর সেও আমার কাছে হবে বিদেশি।
But if I do not know the import of the sound, I shall be a barbarian to him that speaketh, and the speaker will be a barbarian to me.
12 তোমাদের ক্ষেত্রেও একই কথা সত্যি। তোমরা যেহেতু আত্মিক বরদান লাভের জন্য আগ্রহী, সেইসব বরদান লাভের চেষ্টা করো, যেগুলি মণ্ডলীকে গেঁথে তোলে।
So also ye, since ye are emulous of the gifts of the Spirit for the edification of the church, seek ye to excel.
13 এই কারণে, যে ব্যক্তি কোনো বিশেষ ভাষায় কথা বলে, তার প্রার্থনা করা উচিত, যেন সে যা বলে, তা ব্যাখ্যা করে বুঝিয়ে দিতে পারে।
And let him that speaketh in a tongue, pray that he may interpret.
14 কারণ আমি যদি বিশেষ ভাষায় প্রার্থনা করি, তাহলে আমার আত্মা প্রার্থনা করে, কিন্তু আমার বুদ্ধি ফলহীন থাকে।
For if I should pray in a tongue, my spirit prayeth, but my understanding is without fruits.
15 তাহলে আমি কী করব? আমি আমার আত্মাতে প্রার্থনা করব, কিন্তু আমি আমার বুদ্ধি-সহযোগেও প্রার্থনা করব। আমি আমার আত্মাতে গান গাইব, কিন্তু আমার বোধশক্তিতেও গান গাইব।
What then shall I do? I will pray with my spirit, and will pray with my understanding; and I will sing with my spirit, and will sing with my understanding.
16 তা না হলে তুমি যখন তোমার আত্মায় ঈশ্বরের প্রশংসা করো তবে যে শ্রোতা তা বুঝতে পারে না, তোমার ধন্যবাদ দেওয়ায় সে কী করে “আমেন” বলবে? কারণ তুমি কী বলছ, সে তো তা বুঝবেই না!
Otherwise, if thou blessest in the spirit, how shall he that filleth the place of one unlearned, say Amen, on thy giving thanks; for he knoweth not what thou sayest?
17 তুমি হয়তো বেশ ভালোভাবেই ধন্যবাদ দিচ্ছ, কিন্তু অপর ব্যক্তিকে গেঁথে তোলা হল না।
Thou blessest, indeed, very well; but thy neighbor is not edified.
18 আমি ঈশ্বরকে ধন্যবাদ দিই যে, তোমাদের সবার চেয়ে আমি অনেক বেশি ভাষায় কথা বলতে পারি।
I thank God, that I speak with tongues more than all of you.
19 কিন্তু মণ্ডলীর মধ্যে বিশেষ ভাষায় দশ হাজার শব্দ উচ্চারণ করার চেয়ে, আমি বরং পাঁচটি সহজবোধ্য শব্দ বলব।
But in the church, I would rather speak five words with my understanding, that I might instruct others, than a myriad of words in a tongue.
20 ভাইবোনেরা, তোমরা শিশুসুলভ চিন্তাভাবনা করা থেকে ক্ষান্ত হও। মন্দ বিষয়ে তোমরা দুধ খাওয়া শিশুর মতো হও, কিন্তু বোধবুদ্ধিতে পরিণত হও।
My brethren, be ye not children in your thoughts; but to evil things be ye infants; and in your thoughts be men.
21 বিধানশাস্ত্রে একথা লেখা আছে: “ভিনদেশী ভাষাভাষী লোকদের এবং বিদেশিদের ওষ্ঠাধরের মাধ্যমে, আমি এই জাতির সঙ্গে কথা বলব, কিন্তু তবুও, তারা আমার কথা শুনতে চাইলো না,” একথা প্রভু বলেন।
In the law it is written, With a foreign speech, and in another tongue, will I speak with this people; and even so also they will not hearken to me, saith the Lord.
22 তাহলে, বিশেষ বিশেষ ভাষা বিশ্বাসীদের জন্য নয়, কিন্তু অবিশ্বাসীদের জন্য চিহ্নস্বরূপ; কিন্তু ভাববাণী বিশ্বাসীদের জন্য, অবিশ্বাসীদের জন্য নয়।
Wherefore, tongues are established for a sign, not to the believers, but to them that believe not. But prophesyings are not for those who believe not, but for them that believe.
23 তাই যদি সমস্ত মণ্ডলী একত্রে মিলিত হয় ও প্রত্যেকেই বিশেষ বিশেষ ভাষায় কথা বলে এবং কোনো ব্যক্তি, যে তা বোঝে না, বা কিছু সংখ্যক অবিশ্বাসী ব্যক্তি সেখানে উপস্থিত হয়, তাহলে তারা কি বলবে না যে, তোমরা পাগল?
If therefore the whole church assemble, and they all speak with tongues, and there come in unlearned persons, or such as believe not, will they not say: These people are crazy?
24 কিন্তু যদি কোনো অবিশ্বাসী বা অবোধ ব্যক্তি সেখানে উপস্থিত হয়, যখন সকলেই ভাববাণী বলে, সে তাদের সকলের দ্বারা বুঝতে পারবে যে সে একজন পাপী এবং সকলের দ্বারা সে বিচারিত হবে।
But if ye should be all prophesying, and one unlearned or an unbeliever should come among you, he is explored by you all, and rebuked by you all;
25 তখন তার হৃদয়ের গুপ্ত বিষয়গুলি প্রকাশ হয়ে যাবে। তাই সে মাটিতে পড়ে ঈশ্বরের উপাসনা করবে এবং পরম বিস্ময়ে বলে উঠবে, “সত্যিই, ঈশ্বর আপনাদের মধ্যে বিরাজমান!”
and the secrets of his heart are laid open to him: and so he will fall upon his face, and will worship God, and say: Verily, God is in you.
26 ভাইবোনেরা, তাহলে আমরা কী বলব? তোমরা যখন একত্রে মিলিত হও, তখন প্রত্যেকের কোনো গীত বা উপদেশবাণী, কোনো প্রত্যাদেশ, কোনো বিশেষ ভাষা বা কোনও অর্থ ব্যাখ্যা আছে। এসব অবশ্যই মণ্ডলীকে শক্তিশালী করার জন্য করতে হবে।
I therefore say to you my brethren, that when ye assemble, whoever of you hath a psalm, let him speak; and whoever hath a doctrine, and whoever hath a revelation, and whoever hath a tongue, and whoever hath an interpretation. Let them all be for edification.
27 কেউ যদি কোনো বিশেষ ভাষায় কথা বলে, দুজন বা তিনজনের বেশি তা বলবে; একবারে একজন করে বলবে এবং অন্য কেউ অবশ্যই তার অর্থ ব্যাখ্যা করে দেবে।
And if any speak in a tongue, let two speak or at most, three; and let them speak one by one; and let some one interpret.
28 সেখানে যদি কোনও অর্থব্যাখ্যাকারী না থাকে, সেই ব্যক্তি মণ্ডলীতে নীরব থাকবে এবং নিজের ও ঈশ্বরের উদ্দেশে কথা বলবে।
And if there is none to interpret, let him that speaketh in a tongue, be silent in the church; and let him speak to himself and to God.
29 ভাববাদীরা দুজন বা তিনজন কথা বলবে এবং অন্যরা সযত্নে বক্তব্যের গুরুত্ব বিবেচনা করবে।
And as to prophets, let two or three speak, and let the rest judge.
30 আর উপস্থিত ব্যক্তিদের মধ্যে কেউ যদি প্রত্যাদেশ লাভ করে, তাহলে প্রথম বক্তা নীরব থাকবে।
And if to another sitting by, there should be a revelation, let the first stop speaking.
31 কারণ তোমরা সকলে পর্যায়ক্রমে ভাববাণী বলতে পারো, যেন প্রত্যেকেই শিক্ষা ও প্রেরণা লাভ করতে পারে।
For ye can all prophesy, one by one; so that every one may learn, and every one be comforted.
32 ভাববাদীদের আত্মা ভাববাদীদের নিয়ন্ত্রণাধীন থাকে।
For the spirit of the prophets is subject to the prophets.
33 কারণ ঈশ্বর বিশৃঙ্খলার ঈশ্বর নন, কিন্তু শান্তির যেমন পবিত্রগণের সমস্ত মণ্ডলীতে হয়ে থাকে।
Because, God is not the author of tumult, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints.
34 মণ্ডলীতে মহিলারা নীরব থাকবে। তাদের কথা বলার অনুমতি দেওয়া যায় না, বরং শাস্ত্রীয় বিধানও যেমন বলে, তারা অবশ্যই বশ্যতাধীন থাকবে।
Let your women be silent in the church: for it is not permitted them to speak, but to be in subjection, as also the law saith.
35 তারা যদি কোনও বিষয়ে কিছু জানতে চায়, তারা বাড়িতে নিজের নিজের স্বামীর কাছে তা জিজ্ঞাসা করুক, কারণ মণ্ডলীতে কোনো মহিলার কথা বলা লজ্জাকর ব্যাপার।
And if they wish to be informed on any subject, let them ask their husbands at home: for it is unbecoming for women to speak in the church.
36 ঈশ্বরের বাক্য কি তোমাদের মধ্য থেকেই উদ্ভূত হয়েছিল? অথবা, তা কি কেবলমাত্র তোমাদেরই কাছে উপস্থিত হয়েছে?
What! was it from you that the word of God came forth? Or did it reach only to you?
37 কেউ যদি নিজেকে ভাববাদী বা আত্মিকভাবে বরদানপ্রাপ্ত বলে মনে করে, তাহলে সে স্বীকার করবে যে, তোমাদের কাছে আমি যা লিখছি, তা প্রভুরই আদেশ।
And if any one among you thinketh that he is a prophet, or that he is spiritual, let him recognize the things which I write to you, as being the precepts of our Lord.
38 সে যদি তা উপেক্ষা করে, তাহলে সে নিজেই উপেক্ষিত হবে।
But if any one be ignorant, let him be ignorant.
39 অতএব, আমার ভাইবোনেরা, তোমরা ভাববাণী বলার জন্য আগ্রহী হও এবং বিশেষ বিশেষ ভাষায় কথা বলতে নিষেধ কোরো না।
Wherefore, my brethren, be emulous of prophesying: and to speak with tongues, prohibit not.
40 কিন্তু সবকিছুই যথাযথ ও সুশৃঙ্খলভাবে হওয়া উচিত।
But let every thing be done with decency and regularity.
