হিতোপদেশ 28

1 ১ কেউ তাড়না না করলেও দুষ্ট পালায়; কিন্তু ধার্মিকরা সিংহের মত সাহসিক।

The wicked flee when none pursueth: but the righteous are bolde as a lyon.

2 ২ দেশের অধর্মে তার অনেক কর্তা হয়; কিন্তু বুদ্ধিমান ও জ্ঞানবান লোক দিয়ে কর্তৃত্ব স্থায়ী হয়।

For the transgression of the land there are many princes thereof: but by a man of vnderstanding and knowledge a realme likewise endureth long.

3 ৩ যে দরিদ্র লোক দীনহীনদের প্রতি উপদ্রব করে, সে এমন ভাসিয়ে নিয়ে যাওয়া বৃষ্টির মত, যার পরে খাবার থাকে না।

A poore man, if he oppresse the poore, is like a raging raine, that leaueth no foode.

4 ৪ ব্যবস্থা পালন না করা দুষ্টের প্রশংসা করে; কিন্তু ব্যবস্থা পালনকারীরা দুষ্টদের প্রতিরোধ করে।

They that forsake the Law, prayse the wicked: but they that keepe the Law, set themselues against them.

5 ৫ দুরাচারেরা বিচার বোঝে না, কিন্তু সদাপ্রভুর অন্বেষনকারীরা সকলই বোঝে।

Wicked men vnderstand not iudgemnt: but they that seeke the Lord vnderstand all things.

6 ৬ বরং সেই দরিদ্র লোক ভাল, যে নিজের সিদ্ধতায় চলে, তবু দ্বিপথগামী কুটিল লোক ধনী হলেও ভাল নয়।

Better is the poore that walketh in his vprightnesse, then hee that peruerteth his wayes, though he be riche.

7 ৭ যে ব্যবস্থা মানে, সেই জ্ঞানবান ছেলে; কিন্তু যে পেটুকদের সঙ্গী সে বাবার লজ্জাজনক।

He that keepeth the Law, is a childe of vnderstanding: but hee that feedeth the gluttons, shameth his father.

8 ৮ যে সুদ ও বৃদ্ধি নিয়ে নিজের ধন বাড়ায়, সে দীনহীনদের প্রতি দয়াকারীর জন্য সঞ্চয় করে।

He that increaseth his riches by vsurie and interest, gathereth them for him that will be mercifull vnto the poore.

9 ৯ যে ব্যবস্থা শোনা থেকে নিজের কান সরিয়ে নেয়, তার প্রার্থনাও ঘৃণাস্পদ।

He that turneth away his eare from hearing the Law, euen his prayer shalbe abominable.

10 ১০ যে সরলদের কে খারাপ পথে নিয়ে ভ্রান্ত করে, সে নিজের গর্তে নিজে পড়বে; কিন্তু সাধুরা মঙ্গলের অধিকার পায়।

He that causeth the righteous to go astray by an euill way, shall fall into his owne pit, and the vpright shall inherite good things.

11 ১১ ধনী নিজের চোখে জ্ঞানবান, কিন্তু বুদ্ধিমান দরিদ্র তার পরীক্ষা করে।

The riche man is wise in his owne conceite: but the poore that hath vnderstanding, can trie him.

12 ১২ ধার্ম্মিকদের আনন্দে মহাগৌরব হয়, কিন্তু দুষ্টদের উন্নতি হলেও লোকদের দেখতে পাওয়া যায় না।

When righteous men reioyce, there is great glory: but when the wicked come vp, the man is tried.

13 ১৩ যে নিজের অধর্ম্ম সব ঢেকে রাখে, সে কৃতকার্য্য হইবে না; কিন্তু যে তা স্বীকার করে ত্যাগ করে, সে করুণা পাবে।

He that hideth his sinnes, shall not prosper: but he that confesseth, and forsaketh them, shall haue mercy.

14 ১৪ ধন্য সেই ব্যক্তি, যে সব দিন মন্দ কাজ করতে ভয় করে; কিন্তু যে হৃদয় কঠিন করে, সে বিপদে পড়বে।

Blessed is the man that feareth alway: but he that hardeneth his heart, shall fall into euill.

15 ১৫ যেমন গর্জনকারী সিংহ ও পর্যটনকারী ভল্লুক, তেমনি দীনহীন প্রজার উপরে দুষ্ট শাসনকর্ত্তা।

As a roaring lyon, and an hungry beare, so is a wicked ruler ouer the poore people.

16 ১৬ যে অধ্যক্ষের বুদ্ধির অভাব, সে নিষ্ঠুর অত্যাচারী; কিন্তু যে লোভ ঘৃণা করে, সে দীর্ঘজীবী হবে।

A prince destitute of vnderstanding, is also a great oppressour: but hee that hateth couetousnes, shall prolong his dayes.

17 ১৭ যে লোক মানুষের রক্তভারে ভারাক্রান্ত, সে গর্ত পর্যন্ত পালাবে, কেউ তাকে থাকতে না দিক।

A man that doeth violence against the blood of a person, shall flee vnto the graue, and they shall not stay him.

18 ১৮ যে ন্যায়ের পথে চলে, সে রক্ষা পাবে; কিন্তু যে বিপথগামী দুই পথে চলে, সে একটায় পড়বে।

He that walketh vprightly, shalbe saued: but he that is froward in his wayes, shall once fall.

19 ১৯ যে নিজের জমি চাষ করে, সে যথেষ্ট খাবার পায়; কিন্তু যে অসারদের পিছনে পিছনে দৌড়য়, তার যথেষ্ট কম হয়।

He that tilleth his land, shall be satisfied with bread: but he that followeth the idle, shall be filled with pouertie.

20 ২০ বিশ্বস্ত লোক অনেক আশীর্বাদ পাবে; কিন্তু যে ধনী হবার জন্য তাড়াতাড়ি করে, সে দন্ডিত হবে।

A faythfull man shall abound in blessings, and he that maketh haste to be riche, shall not be innocent.

21 ২১ মানুষের ওপর নির্ভর করা ভাল নয়, এক টুকরো রুটীর জন্য অধর্ম্ম করাও ভাল নয়।

To haue respect of persons is not good: for that man will transgresse for a piece of bread.

22 ২২ যার চোখ মন্দ, সে ধনের চেষ্টায় ব্যস্ত থাকে; সে জানে না যে, তার দ্রারিদ্রতা আসবে।

A man with a wicked eye hasteth to riches, and knoweth not, that pouertie shall come vpon him.

23 ২৩ কোনো লোককে যে তিরস্কার করে, শেষে তাকে তিরস্কার করা হবে, যে জিভে চাটুবাদ করে, সে নয়।

He that rebuketh a man, shall finde more fauour at length, then he that flattereth with his tongue.

24 ২৪ যে বাবা মায়ের ধন চুরি করে বলে, এ তো অধর্ম্ম নয়, সে ব্যক্তি ধ্বংসের পাত্র।

Hee that robbeth his father and mother, and sayth, It is no transgression, is the companion of a man that destroyeth.

25 ২৫ যে বেশী আশা করে, সে ঝগড়ার সৃষ্টি করে, কিন্তু যে সদাপ্রভুতে বিশ্বাস করে, সে পুষ্ট হবে।

He that is of a proude heart, stirreth vp strife: but he that trusteth in the Lord, shall be fatte.

26 ২৬ যে নিজ হৃদয়কে বিশ্বাস করে, সে নির্বোধ; কিন্তু যে প্রজ্ঞা-পথে চলে, সে রক্ষা পাবে।

Hee that trusteth in his owne heart, is a foole: but he that walketh in wisdome, shall be deliuered.

27 ২৭ যে দরিদ্রদের দিকে তাকিয়েও দান না করে, সে অভিশপ্ত হবে, কিন্তু যে চোখ বন্ধ করে থাকে, সে অনেক অভিশাপ পাবে।

He that giueth vnto the poore, shall not lacke: but he that hideth his eyes, shall haue many curses.

28 ২৮ দুষ্টদের উন্নতি হলে লোকেরা লুকায়; তারা ধ্বংস হলে ধার্ম্মিকেরা বৃদ্ধি পায়।

When the wicked rise vp, men hide them selues: but when they perish, ye righteous increase.
