1 ১ অবীমেলকের (অবীমেলকের নৃত্যুর পরে) পরে তোলয় ইস্রায়েলীয়দের উদ্ধারের জন্য উৎপন্ন হলেন; তিনি ইষাখর বংশীয় দোদয়ের নাতি পূয়ার ছেলে; তিনি পর্বতময় ইফ্রয়িম প্রদেশে অবস্থিত শামীরে বাস করতেন।
And there arose after Abimelech to deliver Israel Tola' the son of Puah, the son of Dodo, a man of Issachar; and he dwelt in Shamir in the mountain of Ephraim.
And he judged Israel twenty and three years, and then died, and was buried in Shamir.
3 ৩ তাঁর (তোলয়ের মৃত্যুর পরে) পরে গিলিয়দীয় যায়ীর উৎপন্ন হয়ে বাইশ বছর পর্যন্ত ইস্রায়েলের বিচার করলেন।
And after him arose Yair, the Gil'adite, and judged Israel twenty and two years;
4 ৪ তাঁর ত্রিশটী ছেলে ছিল, তারা (নিজের নিজের) ত্রিশটি গাধায় চড়ে বেড়াত; এবং তাদের ত্রিশটি নগর ছিল; গিলিয়দ দেশস্থ সেই সকল নগরকে এখন হবোৎ-যায়ীর বলা যায়।
And he had thirty sons that rode on thirty ass-colts, and they had thirty cities, which are called Chavvoth-yair unto this day, which are in the land of Gil'ad.
And Yair died, and was buried in Kamon.
6 ৬ পরে ইস্রায়েলীয়রা সদাপ্রভুর দৃষ্টিতে যা মন্দ, তাই পুনরায় করল এবং বালদেবতাদের, অষ্টারোৎ দেবীদের, অরামের দেবতাদের, সীদোনের দেবতাদের, মোয়াবের দেবতাদের, অম্মোন-সন্তানদের দেবতাদের ও পলেষ্টীয়দের দেবতাদের সেবা করতে লাগল; তারা সদাপ্রভুকে ত্যাগ করল, তাঁর সেবা করল না।
And the children of Israel repeated to do the evil in the eyes of the Lord, and they served the Be'alim, and 'Ashtaroth, and the gods of Syria, and the gods of Zidon, and the gods of Moab, and the gods of the children of 'Ammon, and the gods of the Philistines, and they forsook the Lord, and served not him.
7 ৭ তখন ইস্রায়েলের বিরুদ্ধে সদাপ্রভুর রাগ প্রজ্বলিত হল, আর তিনি পলেষ্টীয়দের হাতে ও অম্মোন-সন্তানদের হাতে তাদেরকে বিক্রয় (সঁপে দিলেন) করলেন।
And the anger of the Lord was kindled against Israel, and he sold them into the hand of the Philistines, and into the hand of the children of 'Ammon.
8 ৮ আর এরা ঐ বছর ইস্রায়েল সন্তানদের অত্যাচার ও চূর্ণ করল; আঠার বছর পর্যন্ত যর্দন-পারস্থ গিলিয়দের অন্তঃপাতী ইমোরীয় দেশনিবাসী সমস্ত ইস্রায়েলীয়দেরকে চূর্ণ করল।
And they afflicted and oppressed the children of Israel that year; [and] for eighteen years all the children of Israel that were on the other side of the Jordan in the land of the Emorites, which is in Gil'ad.
9 ৯ আর অম্মোন-সন্তানরা যিহূদার ও বিন্যামীনের এবং ইফ্রয়িম কুলের সঙ্গে যুদ্ধ করতে যর্দ্দন পার হয়ে আসত; এই ভাবে ইস্রায়েল খুব কষ্ট পেতে লাগল।
And the children of 'Ammon passed over the Jordan to fight also against Judah, and against Benjamin, and against the house of Ephraim; so that Israel was sorely distressed.
10 ১০ পরে ইস্রায়েলীয়রা সদাপ্রভুর কাছে কেঁদে বলল, আমরা তোমার বিরুদ্ধে পাপ করেছি, কারণ আমরা নিজেদের ঈশ্বরকে ত্যাগ করেছি এবং বাল দেবতাদের (মূর্তির) সেবা করেছি।
And the children of Israel cried unto the Lord, saying, We have sinned against thee, because we have forsaken our God, and have served the Be'alim.
11 ১১ তাতে সদাপ্রভু ইস্রায়েলীয়দেরকে বললেন, মিস্রীয়দের থেকে, ইমোরীয়দের থেকে, অম্মোন-সন্তানদের থেকে ও পলেষ্টীয়দের থেকে আমি কি তোমাদেরকে [নিস্তার করি] নি?
And the Lord said unto the children of Israel, Behold [I delivered you] from the Egyptians, and from the Emorites, from the children of 'Ammon, and from the Philistines.
12 ১২ আর সীদোনীয়, অমালেকীয় ও মায়োনীয়রা তোমাদের উপরে অত্যাচার করেছিল এবং তোমরা আমার কাছে কাঁদলে আমি তাদের হাত থেকে তোমাদেরকে নিস্তার করলাম।
And when the Zidonians, and the 'Amalekites, and the Ma'onites did oppress you, and ye cried to me, I delivered you also out of their hand.
And yet ye have forsaken me, and served other gods; wherefore I will deliver you no more.
Go and cry unto the gods which ye have chosen; let these deliver you in the time of your tribulation.
15 ১৫ তখন ইস্রায়েলীয়রা সদাপ্রভুকে বলল, আমরা পাপ করেছি; এখন তোমার দৃষ্টিতে যা ভাল মনে হয়, তাই আমাদের প্রতি কর; অনুরোধ করি, কেবল আজ আমাদেরকে উদ্ধার কর।
And the children of Israel said unto the Lord, We have sinned: do thou unto us entirely as it seemeth good in thy eyes; only deliver us, we pray thee, this time.
16 ১৬ পরে তারা নিজেদের মধ্য থেকে বিজাতীয় দেবতাদেরকে দূর করে সদাপ্রভুর সেবা করল; তাতে ইস্রায়েলের কষ্টে তাঁর প্রাণ দুঃখিত হল।
And they put away the strange gods from their midst, and served the Lord; and his soul was grieved for the trouble of Israel.
17 ১৭ ঐ দিনের অম্মোন-সন্তানরা জড়ো হয়ে গিলিয়দে শিবির তৈরী করল। আর ইস্রায়েলীয়রা জড়ো হয়ে মিস্পাতে শিবির তৈরী করল।
And the children of 'Ammon were called together, and they encamped in Gil'ad. And the children of Israel also assembled themselves together, and encamped in Mizpah.
18 ১৮ তাতে লোকেরা, গিলিয়দের অধ্যক্ষরা, পরস্পর বলল, অম্মোন-সন্তানদের সঙ্গে যুদ্ধ করতে কোন্ ব্যক্তি আরম্ভ করবে? সে গিলিয়দ-নিবাসী সমস্ত লোকের প্রধান হবে।
And the people, the princes of Gil'ad, said one to another, Whatever man it be that will begin to fight against the children of 'Ammon, shall become the head over all the inhabitants of Gil'ad.
