But Jesus went to the mount of Olives;
2 ২ খুব সকালে তিনি আবার মন্দিরে আসলেন এবং সব মানুষেরা তাঁর কাছে আসল, তখন তিনি বসে তাদেরকে শিক্ষা দিলেন।
and returned early in the morning into the temple, and all the people came to Him: and He sat down, and taught them.
3 ৩ শিক্ষা গুরুরা এবং ফরীশীরা ব্যভিচার করেছে এমন একজন স্ত্রীলোককে ধরে তাঁর কাছে আনলো ও তাদের মাঝখানে দাঁড় করালো।
And the scribes and pharisees brought to Him a woman taken in adultery;
and setting her in the midst, they said to Him, "This woman was caught in the very act, committing adultery.
Now Moses in the law has commanded us that such women should be stoned, but what sayest Thou?"
6 ৬ তারা তাঁর পরীক্ষা নেবার জন্য ও জালে ফেলার জন্য এই কথা বলল যেন তাঁর নামে দোষ দেবার সূত্র খুঁজে পায়। কিন্তু যীশু মাথা নিচু করে আঙ্গুল দিয়ে মাটিতে লিখতে লাগলেন।
This they said to tempt Him, that they might have something to accuse Him of. But Jesus stooping down, wrote with his finger upon the ground.
7 ৭ যখন তারা বারবার তাঁকে জিজ্ঞাসা করতে লাগল, তিনি মাথা তুলে দাঁড়িয়ে তাদেরকে বললেন “তোমাদের মধ্যে যার কোনো পাপ নেই তাকেই প্রথমে তার উপরে পাথর মারতে দাও।”
And as they continued asking Him, He raised himself up and said unto them, "Let him that is without sin among you, first cast a stone at her."
Then He stooped down again and wrote on the ground.
9 ৯ যখন তারা এই কথা শুনল, তারা এক এক করে সবাই বাইরে চলে গেল, বড়রাই প্রথমে চলে গিয়েছিল, শেষ পর্যন্ত যীশু একাই অবশিষ্ট ছিলেন এবং সেই স্ত্রীলোকটী যে মাঝখানে দাঁড়িয়েছিল।
But when they heard his answer, being convicted by their own conscience, they went out one by one, beginning at the elder, even to the last. And Jesus was left alone, and the woman standing in the midst of the people.
10 ১০ তখন যীশু মাথা তুলে দাঁড়ালেন এবং তাকে বললেন, হে নারী, তোমার উপর অভিযোগকারীরা কোথায়? কেউ তোমাকে দোষী করে নি?
Then Jesus rising up, and seeing none but the woman, said unto her, Where are those thine accusers? hath no man condemned thee?
11 ১১ সে বলল, না প্রভু, কেউ করে নি। তখন যীশু বললেন, আমিও তোমাকে দোষী করছি না। যাও, এখন থেকে আর পাপ করো না।
And she said, None, Lord. Then said Jesus unto her, Neither do I condemn thee, Go thy way and sin no more.
12 ১২ যীশু আবার মানুষের কাছে কথা বললেন, তিনি বললেন, “আমি পৃথিবীর মানুষের আলো; যে কেউ আমার পিছন পিছন আসে সে কোন ভাবে অন্ধকারে চলবে না” কিন্তু জীবনের আলো পাবে।
Then spake Jesus again to them, saying, I am the light of the world; he, that followeth me, shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.
The pharisees therefore said to Him, Thou bearest witness of thyself; thy testimony is not true.
14 ১৪ যীশু উত্তর দিয়ে তাদের বললেন, “যদিও আমি নিজের সম্পর্কে নিজে সাক্ষ্য দিই, তবুও আমার সাক্ষ্য সত্য। কারণ আমি কোথা থেকে এসেছি, কোথায় বা যাচ্ছি তা জানি; কিন্তু তোমরা জানো না আমি কোথা থেকে আসি বা কোথায় যাই।”
Jesus answered and said unto them, Though I bear witness of myself, my testimony is true: for I know whence I came, and whither I am going; but ye know not whence I come, nor whither I go.
Ye judge according to the flesh, but I judge no man as yet:
16 ১৬ অবশ্য আমি যদি বিচার করি, আমার বিচার সত্য কারণ আমি একা নয় কিন্তু আমি পিতার সঙ্গে আছি যিনি আমাকে পাঠিয়েছেন।
though if I should judge, my judgement is true; for I am not alone, but I am with the Father that sent me.
And it is written in your own law, that the testimony of two persons is valid.
18 ১৮ আমি নিজে আমার সম্বন্ধে সাক্ষ্য দেই এবং পিতা যিনি আমাকে পাঠিয়েছেন তিনিও আমার সমন্ধে সাক্ষ্য দেন।
Now I am one, who bear witness of myself; and the Father, who sent me, beareth witness of me.
19 ১৯ তারা তাঁকে বলল, তোমার পিতা কোথায়? যীশু উত্তর দিলেন, “তোমরা না আমাকে জান না আমার পিতাকে জান; যদি তোমরা আমাকে জানতে তবে আমার পিতাকেও জানতে।”
Then said they unto Him, Where is thy Father? Jesus answered, Ye neither know me, nor my Father: if ye had known me, ye would have known my Father also.
20 ২০ এই সব কথা তিনি মন্দিরে শিক্ষা দেবার দিন প্রণামী ভান্ডার ঘরে বললেন এবং কেউ তাঁকে ধরল না, কারণ তখনও তাঁর দিন আসেনি।
These words spake Jesus in the treasury, when He was teaching in the temple: and no one laid hands on Him, for his hour was not yet come.
21 ২১ তিনি আবার তাদেরকে বললেন, “আমি দূরে যাচ্ছি, তোমরা আমাকে খোঁজ করবে এবং তোমাদের পাপে মরবে। আমি যেখানে যাচ্ছি তোমরা সেখানে আসতে পারবে না।”
Jesus therefore said unto them again, "I am going away, and ye shall seek me, and shall die in your sin: where I go ye cannot come."
22 ২২ ইহূদিরা বলল, সে কি আত্মহত্যা করবে তাই তিনি বলছেন, আমি যেখানে যাচ্ছি সেখানে তোমরা আসতে পারবে না?
The Jews therefore said, What! will He kill himself; that He says, where I am going, ye cannot come?
23 ২৩ যীশু তাদেরকে বললেন, তোমরা নিচ থেকে এসেছ আর আমি স্বর্গ থেকে এসেছি; তোমরা এই জগতের কিন্তু আমি এই জগতের থেকে নয়।
And He said unto them, Ye are from beneath, I am from above: ye are of this world, I am not of this world.
24 ২৪ অতএব আমি তোমাদের বলেছিলাম যে তোমরা তোমাদের পাপে মরবে। কারণ যতক্ষণ না বিশ্বাস কর যে, আমিই যে সেই, তবে তোমরা তোমাদের পাপেই মরবে।
Therefore I said unto you, that ye shall die in your sins; for if ye believe not that I am the Messiah, ye shall die in your sins.
Then said they to Him, Who art thou? And Jesus answered them, Even the same that I told you at first.
26 ২৬ তোমাদের সম্পর্কে বলবার ও বিচার করবার জন্য আমার কাছে অনেক কথা আছে। যাহোক, যিনি আমাকে পাঠিয়েছেন তিনি সত্য এবং আমি তাঁর কাছ থেকে যে সব শুনেছি সেই সব আমি পৃথিবীর মানুষকে বলছি।”
I have many things to say and to judge concerning you: but I only say, He that sent me is true, and I declare to the world those things, which I have heard from Him.
But they did not know that He spake unto them of the Father.
28 ২৮ যীশু বললেন, যখন তোমরা মনুষ্যপুত্রকে উঁচুতে তুলবে তখন তোমরা জানতে পারবে যে আমিই তিনি এবং আমি নিজের থেকে কিছুই করি না, কিন্তু পিতা আমাকে যেমন শেখায় তেমন সব কথা বলি।
Jesus therefore said unto them, When ye have lifted up the Son of man, then ye shall know that I am He, and that I do nothing of myself, but as my Father hath instructed me, I speak these things.
29 ২৯ যিনি আমাকে পাঠিয়েছেন তিনি আমার সঙ্গে আছেন এবং তিনি আমাকে একা ছেড়ে দেননি, কারণ আমি সবদিন তিনি যে কাজে সন্তুষ্ট হন সেই কাজ করি।
And He that sent me, is with me: the Father hath not left me alone; for I always do the things that are pleasing to Him.
As He spake these words many believed on Him.
31 ৩১ যে ইহূদিরা তাঁকে বিশ্বাস করল তাদেরকে যীশু বললেন, “যদি তোমরা আমার শিক্ষা মেনে চল, তাহলে তোমরা সত্যই আমার শিষ্য;
Therefore said Jesus to the Jews that believed on Him, If ye continue in my word, ye are indeed my disciples.
And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.
33 ৩৩ তারা তাঁকে উত্তর দিল, আমরা অব্রাহামের বংশ এবং কখনও কারও দাস হইনি; আপনি কেমন করে বলছেন তোমাদের মুক্ত করা হবে?
They answered Him, We are the seed of Abraham, and never were slaves to any one, how then dost thou say, Ye shall be made free?
34 ৩৪ যীশু তাদেরকে উত্তর দিলেন, সত্য, সত্যই আমি তোমাদেরকে বলছি, যে কেউ পাপ কাজ করে সে হলো পাপের দাস।
Jesus answered them, Verily, verily I say unto you, whosoever maketh a practice of sin, is the servant of sin.
Now the servant does not continue always in the family: but the Son abideth always. (aiōn g165)
If therefore the Son make you free, ye shall be free indeed.
37 ৩৭ আমি জানি যে তোমরা অব্রাহামের বংশধর; তোমরা আমাকে মেরে ফেলার জন্য চেষ্টা করছ, কারণ আমার বাক্য তোমাদের অন্তরে জায়গা পায়নি।
I know that ye are the seed of Abraham, but ye seek to kill me, because my word hath no place in you.
38 ৩৮ আমি আমার পিতার কাছে যা কিছু দেখেছি তাই বলছি; আর তোমাদের পিতার কাছে তোমরা যা কিছু শুনেছ, সেই সব করছ।
I speak that which I have seen with my Father, and ye do what ye have seen with your father.
39 ৩৯ তারা উত্তর দিয়ে তাঁকে বলল, আমাদের পিতা হলো অব্রাহাম। যীশু তাদেরকে বললেন, “তোমরা যদি অব্রাহামের সন্তান হতে, তবে তোমরা অব্রাহামের কাজগুলি করতে।
They answered Him, Abraham is our father, Jesus replied, If ye were the children of Abraham, ye would do the works of Abraham:
40 ৪০ আমি ঈশ্বরের কাছে যে সত্য শুনেছি তাই তোমাদেরকে বলেছি তবুও, তোমরা আমাকে মেরে ফেলার জন্য চেষ্টা করছ।” অব্রাহাম এইগুলি করেননি।
but now ye seek to kill me, who have told you the truth which I have heard from God: Abraham did not thus.
41 ৪১ তোমাদের পিতা যে কাজ করে, তোমরাও সেই কাজ করছ। তারা তাঁকে বলল, আমাদের জন্ম অবৈধ ভাবে হয়নি; আমাদের একমাত্র পিতা আছেন, তিনি ঈশ্বর।
But ye do the works of your father. Then said they unto Him, We are not born of fornication, we have one Father, even God.
42 ৪২ যীশু তাদেরকে বললেন, ঈশ্বর যদি তোমাদের পিতা হতেন, তবে তোমরা আমাকে ভালবাসতে, কারণ আমি ঈশ্বরের কাছ থেকে এসেছি; আমি ত নিজের থেকে আসিনি কিন্তু তিনিই আমাকে পাঠিয়েছেন।
Jesus said unto them, If God were your father, ye would love me: for I came forth, and do come, from God; neither came I of myself, but He sent me.
And why do ye not understand my language, but because ye cannot bear my doctrine?
44 ৪৪ শয়তান হলো তোমাদের পিতা আর তোমরা তার সন্তান এবং তোমাদের পিতার ইচ্ছা তোমরা পালন করতে চাও। সে শুরু থেকেই খুনি ছিল এবং সে সত্যতে থাকে না কারণ তার মধ্যে কোনো সত্য নেই। সে যখন মিথ্যা কথা বলে, তখন সে নিজের স্বভাব থেকেই বলে কারণ সে মিথ্যাবাদী এবং সে সব মিথ্যার বাপ।
Ye are of your father the devil, and are bent upon doing the lusts of your father: he was a murderer from the beginning, and continued not in the truth: for there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh like himself, for he is a liar, and the father of such.
And because I say the truth, ye believe me not. Which of you convicteth me of sin?
46 ৪৬ তোমাদের মধ্যে কে আমাকে পাপী বলে দোষী করতে পারে? যদি আমি সত্য বলি, তবে কেন তোমরা আমাকে বিশ্বাস কর না?
And if I speak truth, why do ye not believe me?
He, that is of God, receiveth the words of God; but ye therefore receive them not, because ye are not of God.
The Jews therefore answered and said unto Him. Do we not rightly say, that thou art a Samaritan, and art possessed by a demon?
49 ৪৯ যীশু উত্তর দিলেন, “আমাকে ভূতে ধরেনি কিন্তু আমি নিজের পিতাকে সম্মান করি আর তোমরা আমাকে অসম্মান কর।”
Jesus answered I am not possessed by a demon, but I honour my Father, though ye dishonour me.
And I seek not my own glory; there is One that seeketh it, and judgeth.
51 ৫১ সত্য, সত্যই আমি তোমাদের বলছি, কেউ যদি আমার বাক্য মেনে চলে সে কখনও মৃত্যু দেখবে না। (aiōn g165)
Verily, verily, I say unto you, If any one keep my word, he shall never see death. (aiōn g165)
52 ৫২ ইহূদিরা তাঁকে বলল, এখন আমরা জানতে পারলাম যে তোমাকে ভূতে ধরেছে। অব্রাহাম ও ভবিষ্যৎ বক্তারা মরে গিয়েছেন কিন্তু তুমি বলছ কেউ যদি আমার বাক্য মেনে চলে সে কখনও মৃত্যুর স্বাদ পাবে না। (aiōn g165)
The Jews therefore said unto Him, Now we are sure that thou art possessed by a demon. Abraham is dead, and the prophets too; and thou sayest, If any one keep my word, he shall never taste of death: art thou greater than our father Abraham, who is dead? (aiōn g165)
53 ৫৩ তুমি কি আমাদের পূর্বপুরুষ অব্রাহাম থেকেও মহান যিনি মরে গেছেন? ভবিষ্যৎ বক্তাও মরে গেছেন। তুমি নিজের সম্পর্কে কি মনে কর?
and the prophets are dead: whom dost thou pretend to be?
54 ৫৪ যীশু উত্তর দিলেন, আমি যদি নিজেকে গৌরব করি, তবে আমার গৌরব কিছুই নয়; আমার পিতাই আমাকে প্রশংসা করছেন, যাঁর সম্পর্কে তোমরা বলে থাক যে, তিনি তোমাদের ঈশ্বর।
Jesus answered, If I honour myself, my honor is nothing: it is my Father that glorifieth me, of whom ye say that He is your God.
55 ৫৫ তোমরা তাঁকে জান না; কিন্তু আমি তাঁকে জানি; আমি যদি বলি যে তাঁকে জানি না তবে তোমাদের মত আমিও একজন মিথ্যাবাদী হব। যদিও আমি তাঁকে জানি এবং তাঁর বাক্য মেনে চলি।
And yet ye know him not; but I know Him: and if I should say, That I know Him not, I shall be like you, a liar: but I know Him, and obey his word.
56 ৫৬ তোমাদের পিতা অব্রাহাম আমার দিন দেখবার আশায় আনন্দ করেছিলেন এবং তিনি তা দেখেছিলেন ও খুশী হয়েছিলেন।
Your father Abraham longed to see my day: and he saw it, and was glad.
Then said the Jews unto Him, Thou art not yet fifty years old, and hast thou seen Abraham?
Jesus said unto them, Before Abraham was, I am.
59 ৫৯ তখন তারা তাঁর উপর ছুঁড়ে মারবার জন্য পাথর তুলে নিল কিন্তু যীশু নিজেকে গোপন করলেন এবং উপাসনা ঘর থেকে বাইরে চলে গেলেন।
Therefore they took up stones to throw at Him. But Jesus concealed Himself, and went out of the temple, through the midst of them, and so passed on.
