THEN Pilate therefore took Jesus, and scourged him.
2 ২ সৈন্যরা কাঁটা বাঁকিয়ে একসঙ্গে করে মুকুট তৈরী করলো। তারা এটা যীশুর মাথায় পরাল এবং তাঁকে বেগুনী কাপড় পরাল।
And the soldiers having platted a crown of thorns, put it on his head, and they clothed him in a purple robe,
and said, Hail, King of the Jews! and they gave him slaps on the face with their hands.
4 ৪ তারপর পীলাত আবার বাইরে বেরিয়ে গেলেন এবং লোকদের বললেন, “দেখ, আমি যে মানুষটিকে তোমাদের কাছে বাইরে এনেছি তোমরা জান যে আমি তাঁর কোন দোষ দেখতে পাইনি।”
Then again went Pilate out, and said to them, Behold, I bring him out to you, that ye may know that I find in him no fault at all.
5 ৫ সুতরাং যীশু বাইরে এলেন; তিনি কাঁটার মুকুট এবং বেগুনী কাপড় পরে ছিলেন। তারপর পীলাত তাদের বললেন, “দেখ, এখানে মানুষটিকে!”
Then came Jesus out, bearing the thorny crown, and the purple robe. And he said to them, Behold the man!
6 ৬ যখন প্রধান যাজকেরা এবং আধিকারিকরা যীশুকে দেখল, তারা চিত্কার করে উঠে বলল, “তাকে ক্রুশে দাও, তাকে ক্রুশে দাও!” পীলাত তাদের বললেন, “তোমরা নিজেরাই তাঁকে নিয়ে যাও এবং তাঁকে ক্রুশে দাও, কারণ আমি তাঁর কোন দোষ দেখতে পাচ্ছি না।”
When the chief priests therefore and the officers saw him, they cried vociferously, saying, Crucify him! crucify him! Pilate saith to them, Take him yourselves, and crucify him: for I have not found in him a fault.
7 ৭ ইহুদীরা পীলাতকে উত্তর দিলেন, “আমাদের একটা আইন আছে এবং সেই আইন অনুসারে তাঁর মরা উচিত কারণ তিনি নিজেকে ঈশ্বরের পুত্র মনে করেন।”
The Jews replied to him, We have a law, and according to our law he ought to die, because he hath made himself the Son of God.
When Pilate then heard this saying, he was the more afraid:
9 ৯ এবং তিনি আবার রাজবাড়িতে ঢুকলেন এবং যীশুকে বললেন, “তুমি কোথা থেকে এসেছ?” তা সত্বেও, যীশু তাঁকে কোন উত্তর দিলেন না।
and entered into the praetorium again, and saith to Jesus, From whence art thou? But Jesus gave him no answer.
10 ১০ তারপরে পীলাত তাঁকে বললেন, “তুমি আমার সঙ্গে কথা বলছ না কেন? তুমি কি জান না যে তোমাকে ছেড়ে দেবার ক্ষমতাও আমার আছে এবং তোমাকে ক্রুশে দেবারও ক্ষমতাও আমার আছে?”
Then saith Pilate to him, Dost thou not speak to me? dost thou not know that I have power to crucify thee, and that I have power to release thee?
11 ১১ যীশু তাঁকে উত্তর দিলেন, “যদি স্বর্গরাজ্য থেকে তোমাকে দেওয়া না হত, তবে আমার বিরুদ্ধে তোমার কোন ক্ষমতা থাকত না। সুতরাং যে লোক তোমার হাতে আমাকে সমর্পণ করেছে তারই পাপ হত বেশি।”
Jesus answered, Thou wouldest have had no authority over me, unless it had been given thee from above: for this reason, he that hath delivered me up to thee hath the greater crime.
12 ১২ এই উত্তরে, পীলাত তাঁকে ছেড়ে দিতে চেষ্টা করলেন, কিন্তু ইহুদীরা চিত্কার করে বলল, “আপনি যদি এই মানুষটিকে ছেড়ে দেন, তবে আপনি কৈসরের বন্ধু নন: প্রত্যেকে যারা নিজেকে রাজা মনে করে, সে কৈসরের বিপক্ষে কথা বলে।”
Upon this Pilate sought to release him: but the Jews clamoured, saying, If thou release this fellow, thou art no friend of Caesar’s: every one who professes himself a king, speaks in opposition to Caesar.
13 ১৩ যখন পীলাত এই কথাগুলো শুনেছিলেন, তিনি যীশুকে বাইরে এনেছিলেন এবং পাথর দিয়ে বাঁধানো একটা জায়গায় বিচারের আসনে বসেছিলেন, ইব্রীয়তে, গব্বথা।
When Pilate therefore heard this speech, he brought Jesus out, and sat down on the judgment seat, in a place called the Stone Pavement, but in the Hebrew, Gabbatha.
14 ১৪ এই দিন টি ছিল নিস্তারপর্ব্বের আয়োজনের দিন, বেলা প্রায় বারোটা। পীলাত ইহুদীদের বললেন, “দেখ, এখানে তোমাদের রাজা!”
And it was the preparation of the passover, and about the sixth hour: and he saith to the Jews, Behold your King!
15 ১৫ তারা চিত্কার করে উঠল, “তাকে দূর কর, তাকে দূর কর; তাকে ক্রুশে দাও!” পীলাত তাদের বললেন, “তোমাদের রাজাকে কি ক্রুশে দেব?” প্রধান যাজক উত্তর দিলেন, “কৈসর ছাড়া আমাদের অন্য কোনো রাজা নেই।”
But they cried vociferously, Away with him, away! crucify him! Pilate saith unto them, Shall I crucify your King? The chief priests answered, We have no king but Caesar.
Then delivered he him therefore unto them, that he should be crucified. And they took Jesus and led him away.
17 ১৭ তারপর তারা যীশুকে নিল এবং তিনি নিজের ক্রুশ নিজে বহন করে বেরিয়ে গেলেন, জায়গাটাকে বলত মাথার খুলির জায়গা, ইব্রীয় ভাষায় সেই জায়গাকে গলগথা বলে।
And carrying his cross he went forth to a place called the Place of a Skull, which in the Hebrew is termed Golgotha:
18 ১৮ তারা সেখানে যীশুকে ক্রুশে দিল এবং তাঁর সঙ্গে আর দুই জন মানুষকে দিল, দুই দিকে দুই জনকে, মাঝখানে যীশুকে।
where they crucified him, and two others with him, on this side and on that, and in the midst Jesus.
19 ১৯ পীলাত আরও একখানা দোষপত্র লিখে ক্রুশের উপর দিকে লাগিয়ে দিলেন। সেখানে লেখা ছিল: নাসরতের যীশু, ইহুদীদের রাজা।
And Pilate also wrote a title, and put it on the cross. And this was the writing: JESUS THE NAZAREAN, THE KING OF THE JEWS,
20 ২০ ইহুদীরা অনেকে সেই দোষপত্র পড়লেন, কারণ যেখানে যীশুকে ক্রুশে দেওয়া হয়েছিল সেই জায়গাটা নগরের কাছে। দোষপত্রটি ইব্রীয়, রোমীয় ও গ্রীক ভাষায় লেখা ছিল।
This title then many of the Jews read: for the spot where Jesus was crucified was nigh unto the city: and it was written in Hebrew, in Greek, and in Latin.
21 ২১ তারপর ইহুদীদের প্রধান যাজকরা পীলাতকে বললেন, লিখবেন না, ইহুদীদের রাজা কিন্তু লিখুন যে, বরং তিনি বললেন, “আমি ইহুদীদের রাজা।”
The chief priests of the Jews then said to Pilate, Write not, The King of the Jews; but that he said, I am King of the Jews.
Pilate answered, What I have written, I have written.
23 ২৩ পরে সৈন্যরা যীশুকে ক্রুশে দিল, তারা তাঁর কাপড় নিল এবং সেগুলোকে চার টুকরো করলো, প্রত্যেক সৈন্য এক একটা অংশ নিল এবং জামাটিও নিল। ঐ জামাটায় সেলাই ছিল না, উপর থেকে সবটাই বোনা।
Then the soldiers, when they had crucified Jesus, took his garments, and made four parts, for each soldier a part; and his vest: now the vest was without a seam, woven from the upper parts throughout the whole.
24 ২৪ তারপর তারা একে অন্যকে বলল, “এটা আমরা পৃথকভাবে ছিঁড়ব না, পরিবর্তে এস আমরা ভাগ্য পরীক্ষা করে দেখি, এটা কার হবে।” এই ঘটেছিল যেন শাস্ত্রের বাক্য পূর্ণ হয় বলে, “তারা নিজেদের মধ্যে আমার কাপড় ভাগ করেছিল এবং আমার কাপড়ের জন্য তারা ভাগ্য পরীক্ষা করেছিল।”
They said therefore one to another, Let us not rend it, but cast lots for it, whose it shall be: that the scripture might be fulfilled, which saith, “They parted my garments among them, and for my vest they cast lots.” So the soldiers therefore did these things.
25 ২৫ সৈন্যরা এই সব করেছিল। যীশুর মা, তার মায়ের বোন, ক্লোপার স্ত্রী মরিয়ম এবং মগ্দলীনী মরিয়ম এই স্ত্রীলোকেরা যীশুর ক্রুশের পাশে দাঁড়িয়ে ছিলেন।
Now beside the cross of Jesus stood his mother, and his mother’s sister, Mary the wife of Cleopas, and Mary Magdalene.
26 ২৬ যখন যীশু তাঁর মাকে দেখেছিলেন এবং যাকে তিনি প্রেম করতেন সেই শিষ্য কাছে দাঁড়িয়ে আছেন দেখে, তিনি তাঁর মাকে বললেন, “নারী, দেখ, এখানে তোমার ছেলে!”
When Jesus then beheld his mother, and the disciple whom he loved, standing by, he saith to his mother, Woman, behold thy son!
27 ২৭ তারপর তিনি সেই শিষ্যকে বললেন, “দেখ, এখানে তোমার মা!” সেই দিন থেকে ঐ শিষ্য তাঁকে নিজের বাড়িতে নিয়ে গেলেন।
Then saith he to the disciple, Behold thy mother! And from that hour the disciple took her unto his own home.
28 ২৮ এর পরে যীশু জানতেন যে সব কিছু এখন শেষ হয়েছে, শাস্ত্রের বাক্য যেন পূর্ণ হয়, এই জন্য বললেন, “আমার পিপাসা পেয়েছে।”
After this, Jesus, conscious that all things were now finished, that the scripture might be fulfilled, saith, I thirst.
29 ২৯ সেই জায়গায় সিরকায় ভর্তি একটা পাত্র ছিল, সুতরাং তারা সিরকায় ভর্তি একটা স্পঞ্জ এসোব নলে লাগাল এবং এটা উঁচুতে তুলে তাঁর মুখে ধরল।
Now there was placed a vessel full of vinegar: they then filling a spunge with the vinegar, and putting it on a stick of hyssop, carried it to his mouth.
30 ৩০ যখন যীশু সিরকা গ্রহণ করলেন, তিনি বললেন, “শেষ হল।” তিনি তাঁর মাথা নীচু করলেন এবং আত্মা সমর্পণ করলেন।
When therefore Jesus had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and inclining his head, he surrendered up his spirit.
31 ৩১ এটাই ছিল আয়োজনের দিন এবং আদেশ ছিল যে বিশ্রামবারে সেই মৃতদেহগুলো ক্রুশের ওপরে থাকবে না (কারণ বিশ্রামবার ছিল একটা বিশেষ দিন), ইহুদীরা পীলাতকে জিজ্ঞাসা করলেন যে লোকদের পা গুলি ভেঙে ফেলে এবং তাদের দেহগুলো নিচে নামানো হবে।
The Jews therefore, as it was the preparation, that the bodies might not remain on the cross on the sabbath, (for that sabbath-day was a great day, ) besought Pilate that their legs might be broken, and that they might be taken away.
32 ৩২ তারপর সৈন্যরা এসেছিল এবং প্রথম লোকটী পা গুলি ভাঙলো এবং দ্বিতীয় লোকটিরও যাদের যীশুর সঙ্গে ক্রুশে বিদ্ধ করা হয়েছিল।
Then came the soldiers, and brake the legs of the first, and of the other who was crucified with him.
But when they came to Jesus, as they saw that he was already dead, they brake not his legs:
34 ৩৪ তা সত্বেও সৈন্যদের মধ্যে একজন বল্লম দিয়ে তাঁর পাঁজরে খোঁচা দিল এবং তখনই রক্ত এবং জল বেরিয়ে এল।
but one of the soldiers with his lance pierced his side, and immediately there gushed out blood and water.
35 ৩৫ একজন যে দেখেছিল সে প্রত্যক্ষ সাক্ষ্য দিয়েছে এবং তার সাক্ষ্য সত্য; তিনি জানতেন যে তিনি যা বলছেন সত্য যেন তোমরাও বিশ্বাস করতে পার।
And he that saw it bore witness, and we know that his testimony is true: and he himself is conscious that he speaketh what is true, that ye might believe.
Now these things were done, that the scripture might be fulfilled, “A bone of him shall not be broken.”
And again another scripture saith, “They shall look on him whom they have pierced.”
38 ৩৮ এর পরে অরিমাথিয়ার যোষেফ, যিনি যীশুর একজন শিষ্য ছিলেন, কিন্তু ইহুদীদের ভয়ে লুকিয়ে ছিলেন, তিনি পীলাতকে জিজ্ঞাসা করলেন যে তিনি যীশুর দেহ নিয়ে যেতে পারেন। পীলাত তাঁকে অনুমতি দিলেন। সুতরাং যোষেফ এলেন এবং তাঁর মৃতদেহ নিয়ে গেলেন।
And after these things Joseph of Arimathea, (being a disciple of Jesus, but secretly for fear of the Jews, ) besought Pilate that he might take away the body of Jesus and Pilate permitted him. Then he came and took away the body of Jesus.
39 ৩৯ যিনি প্রথমে রাতেরবেলা যীশুর কাছে এসেছিলেন, সেই নীকদীমও এলেন। তিনি মেশানো গন্ধরস এবং অগুরু প্রায় চৌত্রিশ কিলোগ্রাম নিয়ে এলেন।
And Nicodemus, who had come to Jesus by night formerly, came also, bringing a mixture of myrrh and aloes, about a hundred weight.
40 ৪০ সুতরাং তাঁরা যীশুর মৃতদেহ নিলেন এবং ইহুদীদের কবর দেবার নিয়ম মত সুগন্ধ জিনিস দিয়ে লিনেন কাপড় দিয়ে জড়ালেন।
Then they took the body, and bound it with swathes together with the aromatics, as the custom is with the Jews to bury.
41 ৪১ যেখানে তাঁকে ক্রুশে দেওয়া হয়েছিল সেখানে একটা বাগান ছিল; এবং সেই বাগানের মধ্যে একটা নতুন কবর ছিল, যার মধ্যে কোন লোককে কখন কবর দেওয়া হয়নি।
And there was near the spot were he was crucified a garden and in the garden a new tomb, wherein no person had ever yet been laid.
Because of the preparation of the Jews therefore, they laid Jesus there; for the sepulchre was just by.
