“I have said these things to you so that you will not fall away.
2 ২ তারা তোমাদের সমাজঘর থেকে বের করে দেবে; সম্ভবত, দিন আসছে, যখন যে কেউ তোমাদের হত্যা করে তোমরা মনে করবে যে সে ঈশ্বরের জন্য সেবা কাজ করেছে।
They will put you out of the synagogues; indeed, an hour is coming when anyone who kills you will think he is offering service to God.
They will do these things because they have not known the Father or me.
4 ৪ কিন্তু যখন দিন আসবে, যেন তাদের তোমরা মনে করতে পার যে, আমি তোমাদের এই সবের বিষয় বলেছি, সেই জন্য আমি তোমাদের এই সব কথা বলেছি। আমি প্রথম থেকে তোমাদের এই সব বিষয় বলিনি, কারণ আমি তোমাদের সঙ্গে ছিলাম।
But I have said these things to you so that when the hour comes you will remember that I said them to you. I did not say these things to you from the beginning, because I was with you.
5 ৫ তাসত্ত্বেও, যিনি আমাকে পাঠিয়েছেন এখন আমি তাঁর কাছে যাচ্ছি; যদিও তোমাদের মধ্যে কেউ আমাকে জিজ্ঞাসা কর নি, “আপনি কোথায় যাচ্ছেন?”
“But now I am going to him who sent me, yet none of you asks me, ‘Where are yoʋ going?’
Rather, sorrow has filled your hearts because I have said these things to you.
7 ৭ তথাপি, আমি তোমাদের সত্যি বলছি: আমার চলে যাওয়া তোমাদের জন্য ভাল; যদি আমি না যাই, সহায়ক তোমাদের কাছে আসবেন না; কিন্তু আমি যদি যাই, তবে তোমাদের কাছে তাঁকে পাঠিয়ে দেব।
But I tell you the truth, it is to your advantage that I go away, for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you. But if I do go, I will send him to you.
8 ৮ যখন তিনি আসবেন, সাহায্যকারী জগতকে অপরাধী করবে পাপের বিষয়ে, ন্যায়পরায়নতা বিষয়ে এবং বিচারের বিষয়ে,
And when he comes, he will convict the world concerning sin, righteousness, and judgment:
concerning sin, because they do not believe in me;
concerning righteousness, because I am going to my Father, and you will no longer see me;
and concerning judgment, because the ruler of this world has been condemned.
“I still have many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now.
13 ১৩ তথাপি, তিনি সত্যের আত্মা, যখন আসবেন তিনি তোমাদের সব সত্যের উপদেশ দেবেন; তিনি নিজের থেকে কথা বলবেন না, কিন্তু তিনি যা কিছু শোনেন সেগুলোই বলবেন; এবং যে সব ঘটনা আসছে তিনি সে সব বিষয়ে তোমাদের কাছে ঘোষণা করবেন।
When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all truth, for he will not speak on his own authority, but whatever he hears he will speak, and he will declare to you what is to come.
14 ১৪ তিনি আমাকে মহিমান্বিত করবেন, কারণ আমার যা কিছু আছে, সে সব তিনি নিয়ে তোমাদের কাছে ঘোষণা করবেন।
He will glorify me, for he will receive from me what is mine and declare it to you.
15 ১৫ পিতার যা কিছু আছে সে সবই আমার; তা সত্বেও আমি বলছি যে, আত্মা আমার কাছে যা কিছু আছে, সে সব নিয়ে তোমাদের কাছে ঘোষণা করবেন।
All that the Father has is mine. That is why I said that the Spirit will receive from me what is mine and declare it to you.
“In a little while you will not see me; and again after a little while, you will see me, for I am going to the Father.”
17 ১৭ তারপর তাঁর কিছু শিষ্য নিজেদের মধ্যে বলাবলি করতে লাগলেন, তিনি আমাদের একি বলছেন, কিছু কাল পরে তোমরা আমাকে আর দেখতে পাবে না, এবং আবার, “কিছু কাল পরে আবার, তোমরা আমাকে দেখতে পাবে,” এবং, “কারণ আমি পিতার কাছে যাচ্ছি?”
Then some of his disciples said to one another, “What does he mean by saying to us, ‘In a little while you will not see me; and again after a little while, you will see me,’ and, ‘for I am going to the Father’?”
So they kept saying, “What does he mean by saying, ‘a little while’? We do not know what he is talking about.”
19 ১৯ যীশু দেখলেন যে তাঁরা তাঁকে আগ্রহের সঙ্গে জিজ্ঞাসা করতে চাইছেন এবং তিনি তাঁদের বললেন, আমি যা বলেছি, তোমরা কি এটা নিজেদের মধ্যে আলোচনা করেছ, যে আমি কি বলেছি, “কিছু কালের মধ্যে, তোমরা আমাকে আর দেখতে পাবে না; আবার কিছু কাল পরে, আমাকে দেখতে পাবে?”
Jesus knew that they wanted to ask him about this, so he said to them, “Are you asking one another what I meant when I said, ‘In a little while, you will not see me; and again after a little while, you will see me’?
20 ২০ সত্যি, সত্যি, আমি তোমাদের বলছি, তোমরা কাঁদবে এবং বিলাপ করবে, কিন্তু জগত আনন্দ করবে; তোমরা দুঃখার্ত হবে, কিন্তু তোমাদের দুঃখ আনন্দে পরিণত হবে।
Truly, truly, I say to you, you will weep and lament, but the world will rejoice. You will be sorrowful, but your sorrow will turn to joy.
21 ২১ একজন স্ত্রীলোক দুঃখ পায় যখন তার প্রসব বেদনা হয় কারণ তার প্রসব কাল এসে গেছে; কিন্তু যখন সে সন্তান প্রসব করে, সে আর তার ব্যাথার কথা কখনো মনে করে না কারণ জগতে একটি শিশু জন্মালো এটাই তার আনন্দ।
When a woman is giving birth, she has pain because her hour has come. But when her baby is born, she no longer remembers the anguish because of her joy that a child has been born into the world.
22 ২২ তোমরাও, তোমরা এখনও দুঃখ পাচ্ছ, কিন্তু আমি তোমাদের আবার দেখব; এবং তোমাদের হৃদয় আনন্দিত হবে এবং কেউ তোমাদের কাছ থেকে সেই আনন্দ নিতে পারবে না।
So you also have sorrow now, but I will see you again, and your hearts will rejoice, and no one will take your joy away from you.
23 ২৩ ওই দিনের তোমরা আমাকে কোন প্রশ্ন জিজ্ঞাসা করবে না। সত্যি, সত্যি, আমি তোমাদের বলছি, যদি তোমরা পিতার কাছে কিছু চাও, তিনি আমার নামে তোমাদের তা দেবেন।
In that day you will ask nothing of me. Truly, truly, I say to you, whatever you ask of the Father in my name he will give you.
24 ২৪ এখন পর্যন্ত তোমরা আমার নামে কিছু চাওনি; চাও এবং তোমরা গ্রহণ করবে সুতরাং তোমরা আনন্দে পূর্ণ হবে।
Until now you have not asked for anything in my name. Ask, and you will receive, so that your joy may be full.
25 ২৫ আমি অস্পষ্ট ভাষায় এই সব বিষয় তোমাদের বললাম, কিন্তু দিন আসছে, যখন আমি তোমাদের আর অস্পষ্ট ভাষায় কথা বলব না, কিন্তু পরিবর্তে পিতার বিষয় তোমাদের সোজা ভাবে বলব।
“I have told you these things in figures of speech, but an hour is coming when I will no longer use figures of speech but will tell you plainly about the Father.
26 ২৬ ওই দিন তোমরা আমার নামেই চাইবে এবং আমি তোমাদের বলব না যে, আমি পিতার কাছে তোমাদের জন্য প্রার্থনা করব;
In that day you will ask in my name, and I do not say to you that I will ask the Father on your behalf,
27 ২৭ কারণ পিতা নিজেই তোমাদের ভালবাসেন, কারণ তোমরা আমাকে ভালবেসেছ এবং কারণ তোমরা বিশ্বাস করেছ যে আমি পিতার কাছ থেকে এসেছি।
for the Father himself loves you, because you have loved me and have come to believe that I came from God.
28 ২৮ আমি পিতার কাছ থেকে এসেছি এবং জগতে এসেছি; আবার একবার, আমি জগত ত্যাগ করছি এবং পিতার কাছে যাচ্ছি।
I came from the Father and have come into the world, and now I am leaving the world and going to the Father.”
His disciples said to him, “Behold, now yoʋ are speaking plainly and not using any figure of speech.
30 ৩০ এখন আমরা জানি যে আপনি সব কিছুই জানেন এবং আপনি দরকার মনে করেন না যে কেউ আপনাকে কোনো প্রশ্ন জিজ্ঞাসা করে। কারণ এই, আমরা বিশ্বাস করি যে, আপনি ঈশ্বরের কাছ থেকে এসেছেন।
Now we know that yoʋ know all things and have no need for anyone to question yoʋ; because of this we believe that yoʋ came from God.”
Jesus answered them, “Now do you believe?
32 ৩২ দেখ, দিন এসেছে, হ্যাঁ, সম্ভবত এসেছে, যখন তোমরা ছড়িয়ে পড়বে, প্রত্যেকে নিজের জায়গায় যাবে এবং আমাকে একা রেখে যাবে। তথাপি আমি একা নই, কারণ পিতা আমার সঙ্গে আছেন।
Behold, an hour is coming, and has now come, when you will be scattered, each to yoʋr own home, and will leave me all alone. Yet I am not alone, for the Father is with me.
33 ৩৩ তোমাদের এই সব বললাম, “যেন তোমরা আমাতে শান্তিতে থাক। জগতে তোমরা কষ্ট পাবে, কিন্তু সাহস কর, আমি জগতকে জয় করেছি।”
I have said these things to you so that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation, but take heart; I have overcome the world.”
