1 ১ মানুষদের মধ্যে বিতর্ক হলে ওরা যদি বিচারকর্তাদের কাছে যায়, আর তারা বিচার করে, তবে নির্দোষকে নির্দোষ ও দোষীকে দোষী করবে।
If there is a controversy between men, and they come to judgment, and the judges judge them; then they shall justify the righteous, and condemn the wicked;
2 ২ আর যদি খারাপ লোক প্রহারের যোগ্য হয়, তবে বিচারকর্ত্তা তাকে শুয়ে তার অপরাধ অনুসারে আঘাতের সংখ্যা নিশ্চয় করে নিজের সামনে তাকে প্রহার করাবে।
and it shall be if the wicked man deserves to be beaten, that the judge shall make him lie down and be beaten in his presence with a number of stripes, according to his guilt.
3 ৩ সে চল্লিশ আঘাত করতে পারে, তার বেশি না; পাছে সে বেশি আঘাতের মাধ্যমে অনেক প্রহার করালে তোমার ভাই তোমার সামনে তুচ্ছনীয় হয়।
He may give him forty stripes and no more. Otherwise, if he should go on and beat him with more stripes than these, your brother will be humiliated in your eyes.
You shall not muzzle the ox when he treads out the grain.
5 ৫ যদি ভাইরা জড়ো হয়ে বাস করে এবং তাদের মধ্যে এক জন অপুত্রক হয়ে মারা যায়, তবে সেই মৃত ব্যক্তির স্ত্রী বাইরের অন্য গোষ্ঠীভুক্ত পুরুষকে বিয়ে করবে না; তার দেবর তার কাছে যাবে, তাকে বিয়ে করবে এবং তার প্রতি দেবরের দায়িত্ব সম্পন্ন করবে।
If brothers dwell together, and one of them die, and have no son, the wife of the dead shall not be married outside to a stranger: her husband's brother shall go in to her, and take her to him as wife, and perform the duty of a husband's brother to her.
6 ৬ পরে সেই স্ত্রী যে প্রথম ছেলের জন্ম দেবে, সেই ঐ মৃত ভাইয়ের নামে উত্তরাধিকারী হবে; তাতে ইস্রায়েল থেকে তার নাম বিনষ্ট হবে না।
It shall be, that the firstborn whom she bears shall succeed in the name of his brother who is dead, that his name not be blotted out of Israel.
7 ৭ কিন্তু সেই পুরুষ যদি নিজের ভাইয়ের স্ত্রীকে গ্রহণ করতে রাজি না হয়, তবে সেই ভাইয়ের স্ত্রী শহরের দরজায় প্রাচীনদের কাছে গিয়ে বলবে, “আমার দেওর ইস্রায়েলের মধ্যে নিজের ভাইয়ের নাম রক্ষা করতে রাজি না, সে আমার প্রতি দেওরের দায়িত্ব পালন করতে চায় না।”
If the man doesn't want to take his brother's wife, then his brother's wife shall go up to the gate to the elders, and say, "My husband's brother refuses to raise up to his brother a name in Israel; he will not perform the duty of a husband's brother to me."
8 ৮ তখন তার শহরের প্রাচীনরা তাকে ডেকে তার সঙ্গে কথা বলবে; কিন্তু যদি সে দাঁড়িয়ে বলে, “ওকে গ্রহণ করতে আমার ইচ্ছা নেই;”
Then the elders of his city shall call him, and speak to him: and if he stand, and say, "I do not want to take her";
9 ৯ তবে তার ভাইয়ের স্ত্রী প্রাচীনদের সামনে তার কাছে এসে তার পা থেকে জুতো খুলবে এবং তার মুখে থুথু দেবে, আর উত্তর হিসাবে এই কথা বলবে, “যে কেউ নিজের ভাইয়ের বংশ রক্ষা না করে, তার প্রতি এরকম করা যাবে।”
then his brother's wife shall come to him in the presence of the elders, and loose his shoe from off his foot, and spit in his face; and she shall answer and say, "So shall it be done to the man who does not build up his brother's house."
His name shall be called in Israel, The house of him who has his shoe untied.
11 ১১ পুরুষেরা একে অপর বিরোধ করলে তাদের এক জনের স্ত্রী যদি প্রহারকের হাত থেকে নিজের স্বামীকে উদ্ধার করতে এসে হাত বাড়িয়ে দিয়ে প্রহারকের পুরুষাঙ্গ (অন্ডকোষ) ধরে,
When men strive together one with another, and the wife of the one draws near to deliver her husband out of the hand of him who strikes him, and puts forth her hand, and takes him by the private parts;
then you shall cut off her hand, your eye shall have no pity.
You shall not have in your bag diverse weights, a great and a small.
You shall not have in your house diverse measures, a great and a small.
15 ১৫ তুমি যথার্থ ও সঠিক বাট্খারা রাখবে, যথার্থ ও সঠিক পরিমাণপাত্র রাখবে; যেন তোমার ঈশ্বর সদাপ্রভু তোমাকে যে দেশ দিচ্ছেন, সেই দেশে তুমি দীর্ঘ আয়ু হয়।
You shall have a perfect and just weight. You shall have a perfect and just measure, that your days may be long in the land which Jehovah your God gives you.
For all who do such things, all who do unrighteously, are an abomination to Jehovah your God.
Remember what Amalek did to you by the way as you came forth out of Egypt;
18 ১৮ তোমার দুর্বলতার ও ক্লান্তির দিনের সে কিভাবে তোমার সঙ্গে রাস্তায় মিলে তোমার পিছনের দুর্বল লোক সবাইকে আক্রমণ করল; আর সে ঈশ্বরকে ভয় করল না।
how he met you by the way, and struck the hindmost of you, all who lagged behind you, when you were faint and weary; and he did not fear God.
19 ১৯ অতএব তোমার ঈশ্বর সদাপ্রভু যে দেশ উত্তরাধিকারের জন্য তোমাকে দিচ্ছেন, সেই দেশে তোমার ঈশ্বর সদাপ্রভু চারদিকের সব শত্রু থেকে তোমাকে বিশ্রাম দিলে পর তুমি আকাশমণ্ডলের নীচে থেকে অমালেকের স্মৃতি মুছে ফেলবে; এটা ভুলে যেও না।
Therefore it shall be, when Jehovah your God has given you rest from all your enemies all around, in the land which Jehovah your God gives you for an inheritance to possess it, that you shall blot out the memory of Amalek from under the sky; you shall not forget.
