দ্বিতীয় রাজাবলি 5
1 ১ অরামের রাজার সেনাপতি নামান ছিলেন তাঁর মনিবের চোখে একজন মহান ও সম্মানিত লোক, কারণ তাঁরই মাধ্যমে সদাপ্রভু অরামকে জয়ী করেছিলেন; আর তিনি ছিলেন বলবান বীর, কিন্তু কুষ্ঠরোগী ছিলেন।
Now Naaman, captain of the host of the king of Syria, was a great man with his master, and honorable, because by him the LORD had given deliverance to Syria: he was also a mighty man in valor, but he was a leper.
2 ২ এক দিনের অরামীয়েরা দলে দলে গিয়েছিল; তারা ইস্রায়েল দেশ থেকে একটি ছোট মেয়েকে বন্দী করে আনলে সে নামানের স্ত্রীর দাসী হয়েছিল।
And the Syrians had gone out by companies, and had brought away captive out of the land of Israel a little maid; and she waited on Naaman’s wife.
3 ৩ সে তার কর্ত্রীকে বলল, “আমার মনিব যদি শমরিয়ার ভাববাদীর সঙ্গে দেখা করতে পারতেন, তাহলে তিনি তাঁকে কুষ্ঠরোগ থেকে উদ্ধার করতেন।”
And she said to her mistress, Would God my lord were with the prophet that is in Samaria! for he would recover him of his leprosy.
And one went in, and told his lord, saying, Thus and thus said the maid that is of the land of Israel.
5 ৫ অরামের রাজা বললেন, “সেখানে তুমি যাও, আমি ইস্রায়েলের রাজার কাছে চিঠি পাঠাই।” তখন তিনি নিজের সঙ্গে দশ তালন্ত রূপা, ছয় হাজার সোনার মুদ্রা ও দশ জোড়া কাপড় নিয়ে চলে গেলেন।
And the king of Syria said, Go to, go, and I will send a letter to the king of Israel. And he departed, and took with him ten talents of silver, and six thousand pieces of gold, and ten changes of raiment.
6 ৬ আর তিনি ইস্রায়েলের রাজার কাছে চিঠিটি নিয়ে গেলেন, চিঠিতে লেখা ছিল, “এই চিঠি যখন আপনার কাছে পৌঁছাবে, তখন দেখুন, আমি আমার দাস নামানকে আপনার কাছে পাঠালাম, আপনি তাকে কুষ্ঠরোগ থেকে উদ্ধার করবেন।”
And he brought the letter to the king of Israel, saying, Now when this letter is come to you, behold, I have therewith sent Naaman my servant to you, that you may recover him of his leprosy.
7 ৭ যখন ইস্রায়েলের রাজা সেই চিঠি পড়লেন তিনি তাঁর কাপড় ছিঁড়ে বললেন, “মারবার ও বাঁচাবার ঈশ্বর কি আমি যে, এই ব্যক্তি একজন মানুষকে কুষ্ঠ হতে উদ্ধার করার জন্য আমার কাছে পাঠাচ্ছে? অনুরোধ করি, তোমরা বিচার করে দেখ, সে আমার বিরুদ্ধে তর্কের জন্য সূত্র খোঁজ করছে।”
And it came to pass, when the king of Israel had read the letter, that he rent his clothes, and said, Am I God, to kill and to make alive, that this man does send to me to recover a man of his leprosy? why consider, I pray you, and see how he seeks a quarrel against me.
8 ৮ পরে ইস্রায়েলের রাজা কাপড় ছিঁড়েছেন এই কথা শুনে ঈশ্বরের লোক ইলীশায় রাজার কাছে এই কথা বলে পাঠালেন, “কেন আপনি কাপড় ছিঁড়েছেন? সে ব্যক্তি আমার কাছে আসুক; তাতে জানতে পারবে যে, ইস্রায়েলের মধ্যে একজন ভাববাদী আছে।”
And it was so, when Elisha the man of God had heard that the king of Israel had rent his clothes, that he sent to the king, saying, Why have you rent your clothes? let him come now to me, and he shall know that there is a prophet in Israel.
So Naaman came with his horses and with his chariot, and stood at the door of the house of Elisha.
10 ১০ তখন ইলীশায় তাঁর কাছে একজন লোক পাঠিয়ে বললেন, “আপনি গিয়ে সাতবার যর্দনে স্নান করুন, আপনার নতুন মাংস হবে ও আপনি শুচি হবেন।”
And Elisha sent a messenger to him, saying, Go and wash in Jordan seven times, and your flesh shall come again to you, and you shall be clean.
11 ১১ তখন নামান ভীষণ রেগে চলে গেলেন, আর বললেন, “দেখ, আমি ভেবেছিলাম, তিনি নিশ্চয়ই বের হয়ে আমার কাছে আসবেন এবং দাঁড়িয়ে তাঁর ঈশ্বর সদাপ্রভুকে ডাকবেন, আর কুষ্ঠরোগের উপরে হাত বুলিয়ে কুষ্ঠীকে সুস্থ করবেন।
But Naaman was wroth, and went away, and said, Behold, I thought, He will surely come out to me, and stand, and call on the name of the LORD his God, and strike his hand over the place, and recover the leper.
12 ১২ ইস্রায়েলের সমস্ত জলাশয় থেকে দম্মেশকের অবানা ও পর্পর নদী কি ভাল নয়? সেখানে স্নান করে কি আমি শুচি হতে পারি না?” আর তিনি মুখ ফিরিয়ে রেগে গিয়ে ফিরে গেলেন।
Are not Abana and Pharpar, rivers of Damascus, better than all the waters of Israel? may I not wash in them, and be clean? So he turned and went away in a rage.
13 ১৩ কিন্তু তাঁর দাসেরা কাছে গিয়ে অনুরোধ করে বলল, “বাবা, ঐ ভাববাদী যদি আপনাকে কোনো কঠিন কাজ করতে আদেশ দিতেন, তাহলে কি আপনি তা করতেন না? তবে ‘স্নান করে শুচি হন’ তাঁর এই আদেশটি কি মানবেন না?”
And his servants came near, and spoke to him, and said, My father, if the prophet had bid you do some great thing, would you not have done it? how much rather then, when he says to you, Wash, and be clean?
14 ১৪ তখন তিনি ঈশ্বরের লোকের আদেশ অনুযায়ী নেমে গিয়ে যর্দনে সাতবার ডুব দিলেন, তাতে ছোট ছেলের মত তাঁর নতুন মাংস হল ও তিনি শুচি হলেন।
Then went he down, and dipped himself seven times in Jordan, according to the saying of the man of God: and his flesh came again like to the flesh of a little child, and he was clean.
15 ১৫ পরে তিনি তাঁর সঙ্গীদের জনগনের সঙ্গে ঈশ্বরের লোকের কাছে ফিরে এসে তাঁর সামনে দাঁড়িয়ে বললেন, “দেখুন, আমি এখন জানতে পারলাম যে, একমাত্র ইস্রায়েলের ঈশ্বর ছাড়া সারা পৃথিবীতে আর কোন ঈশ্বর নেই; অতএব অনুরোধ করি, আপনার দাসের কাছ থেকে উপহার নিন।”
And he returned to the man of God, he and all his company, and came, and stood before him: and he said, Behold, now I know that there is no God in all the earth, but in Israel: now therefore, I pray you, take a blessing of your servant.
16 ১৬ কিন্তু তিনি বললেন, “আমি যাঁর সামনে দাঁড়িয়ে আছি, সেই জীবন্ত সদাপ্রভুর দিব্যি যে, আমি কোনো কিছু নেব না।” নামান জোর করলেও তিনি রাজি হলেন না।
But he said, As the LORD lives, before whom I stand, I will receive none. And he urged him to take it; but he refused.
17 ১৭ পরে নামান বললেন, “তা যদি না হয়, তবে অনুরোধ করি, দুটো খচ্চরে বয়ে নিয়ে যেতে পারে এমন মাটি আপনার দাসকে দিন; কারণ আজ থেকে আপনার এই দাস সদাপ্রভু ছাড়া অন্য কোন দেবতার উদ্দেশ্যে হোম কিংবা বলিদান করবে না।
And Naaman said, Shall there not then, I pray you, be given to your servant two mules’ burden of earth? for your servant will from now on offer neither burnt offering nor sacrifice to other gods, but to the LORD.
18 ১৮ শুধু এই বিষয়ে সদাপ্রভু তাঁর দাসকে ক্ষমা করুন; আমার মনিব উপাসনা করার জন্য যখন রিম্মোণের মন্দিরে ঢুকে আমার হাতের উপর ভর দেন, তখন যদি আমি রিম্মোণের মন্দিরে প্রণাম করি, তবে সদাপ্রভু যেন এই ব্যাপারে আমাকে ক্ষমা করেন।”
In this thing the LORD pardon your servant, that when my master goes into the house of Rimmon to worship there, and he leans on my hand, and I bow myself in the house of Rimmon: when I bow down myself in the house of Rimmon, the LORD pardon your servant in this thing.
And he said to him, Go in peace. So he departed from him a little way.
20 ২০ তখন ঈশ্বরের লোক ইলীশায়ের চাকর গেহসি নিজের মনে বলল, “দেখ, আমার মনিব ঐ অরামীয় নামানকে এমনিই ছেড়ে দিলেন, যা এনেছিলেন তা নিলেন না, জীবন্ত সদাপ্রভুর দিব্যি, আমি তাঁর পিছনে পিছনে দৌড়ে গিয়ে তাঁর কাছ থেকে কিছু নেব।”
But Gehazi, the servant of Elisha the man of God, said, Behold, my master has spared Naaman this Syrian, in not receiving at his hands that which he brought: but, as the LORD lives, I will run after him, and take somewhat of him.
21 ২১ পরে গেহসি নামানের অনুসরণ করে দৌড়ে গেল; তাতে নামান তাঁর পিছনে দৌড়ে আসতে দেখে তার সঙ্গে দেখা করবার জন্য রথ থেকে নেমে তাকে জিজ্ঞাসা করলেন, “সব খবর ভালো তো?”
So Gehazi followed after Naaman. And when Naaman saw him running after him, he lighted down from the chariot to meet him, and said, Is all well?
22 ২২ সে বলল, “সব ঠিক আছে। আমার মনিব এই কথা বলবার জন্য আমাকে পাঠিয়েছেন যে, দেখুন, ইফ্রয়িমের পর্বতময় এলাকা থেকে ভাববাদীদের সন্তানদের মধ্যে দুজন যুবক এসেছে; অনুরোধ করি, তাদের জন্য এক তালন্ত রূপা ও দুই জোড়া পোশাক দিন।”
And he said, All is well. My master has sent me, saying, Behold, even now there be come to me from mount Ephraim two young men of the sons of the prophets: give them, I pray you, a talent of silver, and two changes of garments.
23 ২৩ নামান বললেন, “দয়া করে দুই তালন্ত নাও।” পরে তিনি আগ্রহের সঙ্গে দুই তালন্ত রূপা দুটি থলিতে বেঁধে দুই জোড়া কাপড় তাঁর দুজন দাসকে দিলে তারা তার আগে আগে বয়ে নিয়ে যেতে লাগল।
And Naaman said, Be content, take two talents. And he urged him, and bound two talents of silver in two bags, with two changes of garments, and laid them on two of his servants; and they bore them before him.
24 ২৪ পরে পাহাড়ে এসে গেহসি তাদের কাছ থেকে সেগুলি নিয়ে গৃহের মধ্যে রাখল এবং তাদের বিদায় করে দিলে তারা চলে গেল।
And when he came to the tower, he took them from their hand, and bestowed them in the house: and he let the men go, and they departed.
25 ২৫ পরে সে ভিতরে গিয়ে তার মনিবের সামনে দাঁড়াল। তখন ইলীশায় তাকে বললেন, “গেহসি, তুমি কোথায় গিয়েছিলে?” এবং সে বলল, “আপনার দাস কোথাও যায় নি।”
But he went in, and stood before his master. And Elisha said to him, From where come you, Gehazi? And he said, Your servant went no where.
26 ২৬ তখন তিনি তাকে বললেন, “সেই লোকটি যখন তোমার সঙ্গে দেখা করবার জন্য রথ থেকে নামলেন, তখন আমার মন কি তোমার সাথে যায় নি? রূপা, পোশাক, জিতবৃক্ষের বাগান, আঙ্গুর ক্ষেত, গরু, ভেড়া, দাস ও দাসী নেবার এটাই কি দিন?
And he said to him, Went not my heart with you, when the man turned again from his chariot to meet you? Is it a time to receive money, and to receive garments, and olive groves, and vineyards, and sheep, and oxen, and menservants, and maidservants?
27 ২৭ অতএব নামানের কুষ্ঠরোগ তোমার ও তোমার বংশের মধ্যে চিরকাল লেগে থাকবে।” তখন গেহসি তুষারের মত সাদা কুষ্ঠগ্রস্ত হয়ে তাঁর সামনে থেকে চলে গেল।
The leprosy therefore of Naaman shall stick to you, and to your seed for ever. And he went out from his presence a leper as white as snow.
