1 ১ ইতিমধ্যে অহসিয়ের মা অথলিয়া যখন দেখল যে, তার ছেলে মারা গেছে, তখন সে উঠে সমস্ত রাজবংশকে ধ্বংস করল।
And Gotholia the mother of Ochozias saw that her son was dead, and she destroyed all the seed royal.
2 ২ কিন্তু রাজা যোরামের মেয়ে, অহসিয়ের বোন যিহোশেবা, অহসিয়ের ছেলে যোয়াশকে নিয়ে, নিহত রাজপুত্রদের মধ্য থেকে চুরি করে নিয়ে তাঁর ধাত্রীর সঙ্গে একটি শোবার গৃহে রাখলেন; তাঁরা অথলিয়ার কাছ থেকে তাঁকে লুকিয়ে রাখলেন, তাই তিনি মারা যান নি।
And Josabee daughter of king Joram, sister of Ochozias, took Joas the son of her brother, and stole him from among the king's sons that were put to death, [secreting] him and his nurse in the bedchamber, and hid him from the face of Gotholia, and he was not slain.
And he remained with her hid in the house of the Lord six years: and Gotholia reigned over the land.
4 ৪ পরে সপ্তম বছরে যিহোয়াদা লোক পাঠিয়ে রক্ষীদলের ও পাহারাদারদের শতপতিদের ডেকে সদাপ্রভুর গৃহে তাদের কাছে আনলেন এবং তাদের সঙ্গে একটি চুক্তি করে সদাপ্রভুর গৃহে তাদেরকে শপথ করিয়ে রাজপুত্রকে দেখালেন।
And in the seventh year Jodae sent and took the captains of hundreds of the Chorri and of the Rhasim, and brought them to him into the house of the Lord, and made a covenant of the Lord with them, and adjured them, and Jodae showed them the king's son.
5 ৫ আর তিনি তাদের আদেশ দিয়ে বললেন, “তোমাদের যা করতে হবে তা এই, তোমাদের মধ্যে যারা বিশ্রামবারে আসবে, তাদের তিন ভাগের এক ভাগ রাজবাড়ী পাহারা দেবে;
And charged them, saying, This [is] the thing which you shall do.
6 ৬ এক ভাগ সূর ফটকে থাকবে এবং এক ভাগ পাহারাদারদের পিছনের ফটকে থাকবে। এই ভাবে তোমরা আক্রমণের হাত থেকে বাঁচার জন্য গৃহে পাহারা দেবে।
Let a third part of you go in [on] the sabbath-day, and keep you the watch of the king's house in the porch; and another third in the gate of the high way, and a third at the gate behind the footmen; and keep you the guard of the house.
And there [shall be] two parties among you, even every one that goes out on the Sabbath, and they shall keep the guard of the Lord's house before the king.
8 ৮ তোমরা প্রত্যেকে নিজের অস্ত্র হাতে নিয়ে রাজার চারপাশ ঘিরে থাকবে; আর যে কেউ সারির ভিতরে আসে, সে নিহত হবে এবং রাজা যখন বাইরে যান বা ভিতরে আসেন, তখন তোমরা তাঁর সঙ্গে থাকবে।”
And do you compass the king about every man with his weapon in his hand, and he that goes into the ranges shall die: and they shall be with the king in his going out and in his coming in.
9 ৯ পরে যিহোয়াদা যাজক যা আদেশ করলেন, শতপতিরা তাই করল। তার ফলে তারা প্রত্যেকে নিজের নিজের লোকদের নিয়ে, যারা বিশ্রামবারে ভিতরে যাওয়া আসা করে, তাদের নিয়ে যিহোয়াদা যাজকের কাছে আসল।
And the captains of hundreds did all things that the wise Jodae commanded; and they took each his men, both those that went in on the sabbath-day, and those that went out on the sabbath-day, and went in to Jodae the priest.
And the priest gave to the captains of hundreds the swords and spears of king David that were in the house of the Lord.
11 ১১ আর গৃহের ডান দিক থেকে বাম দিক পর্যন্ত যজ্ঞবেদীর ও গৃহের কাছে পাহারাদার সৈন্যরা প্রত্যেকে নিজের অস্ত্র হাতে রাজার চারিদিকে দাঁড়াল।
And the footmen stood each with his weapon in his hand from the right corner of the house to the left corner of the house, [by] the altar and the house round about the king.
12 ১২ পরে তিনি রাজপুত্রকে বের করে এনে তাঁর মাথায় মুকুট পরিয়ে দিয়ে তাঁর হাতে ব্যবস্থার বইটি দিলেন এবং তাঁরা তাঁকে রাজা হিসাবে অভিষেক করলেন; আর হাততালি দিয়ে বললেন, “রাজা চিরজীবী হোন।”
And he brought forth the king's son, and put upon him the crown and [gave him] the testimony; and he made him king, and anointed him: and they clapped [their] hands, and said, Long live the king.
And Gotholia heard the sound of the people running, and she went in to the people to the house of the Lord.
14 ১৪ আর দেখল যে, নিয়ম অনুসারে রাজা মঞ্চের উপরে দাঁড়িয়ে আছেন। সেনাপতিরা ও তূরী বাদকেরা রাজার পাশে রয়েছে এবং দেশের সব লোক আনন্দ করছে ও তূরী বাজাচ্ছে। তখন অথলিয়া তার পোশাক ছিঁড়ে চিৎকার করে বলল, “বিশ্বাসঘাতকতা! বিশ্বাসঘাতকতা!”
And she looked, and, behold, the king stood near a pillar according to the manner; and the singers and the trumpeters were before the king and all the people of the land [even] rejoicing and sounding with trumpets: and Gotholia tore her garments, and cried, A conspiracy, a conspiracy.
15 ১৫ কিন্তু যিহোয়াদা যাজক যাদের উপর সৈন্যদলের ভার ছিল সেই শতপতিদের এই আদেশ দিলেন, “ওকে বের করে দুই সারির মাঝখান দিয়ে নিয়ে যাও; আর যে ওর পিছনে পিছনে যাবে, তাকে তরোয়াল দিয়ে হত্যা করবে,” কারণ যাজক বলেছিলেন, সদাপ্রভুর গৃহের মধ্যে তাকে যেন হত্যা না করা হয়।
And Jodae the priest commanded the captains of hundreds who were over the host, and said to them, Bring her forth without the ranges, [and] he that goes in after her shall certainly die by the sword. For the priest said, Let her not however be slain in the house of the Lord.
16 ১৬ পরে লোকেরা তার জন্য দুই সারি হয়ে পথ ছাড়লে সে ঘোড়া ফটকের পথ দিয়ে রাজবাড়ীতে ঢুকল এবং সেখানে হত হল।
And they laid hands upon her, and went in by the way of the horses' entrance into the house of the Lord, and she was slain there.
17 ১৭ আর যিহোয়াদা সদাপ্রভুর এবং রাজার ও লোকদের মধ্যে এক চুক্তি করলেন, যেন তারা সদাপ্রভুর প্রজা হয়; রাজা ও লোকদের মধ্যেও একটি চুক্তি করলেন।
And Jodae made a covenant between the Lord and the king and the people, that they should be the Lord's people; also between the king and the people.
18 ১৮ তারপর দেশের সমস্ত লোক বাল দেবতার মন্দিরে গিয়ে সেটা ভেঙে ফেলল এবং তার যজ্ঞবেদী ও মূর্তিগুলি ভেঙে টুকরো টুকরো করে ফেলল; আর বেদীগুলির সামনে বাল দেবতার যাজক মত্তনকে মেরে ফেলল। পরে যাজক সদাপ্রভুর গৃহে পাহারাদার নিযুক্ত করলেন।
And all the people of the land went into the house of Baal, and tore it down, and completely broke in pieces his altars and his images, and they killed Mathan the priest of Baal before the altars. And the priest appointed overseers over the house of the Lord.
19 ১৯ আর তিনি শতপতিদের, রক্ষীদের, পাহারাদারদের এবং দেশের সব লোকদের সঙ্গে নিলেন; তারা সদাপ্রভুর গৃহ থেকে রাজাকে নিয়ে পাহারাদারদের ফটকের পথ দিয়ে রাজবাড়ীতে এল; আর তিনি সিংহাসনে বসলেন।
And he took the captains of the hundreds, and the Chorri, and the Rhasim, and all the people of the land, and brought down the king out of the house of the Lord; and they went in by the way of the gate of the footmen of the king's house, and seated him there on the throne of the kings.
20 ২০ তখন দেশের সব লোক আনন্দ করল এবং নগরটি শান্ত হল; আর অথলিয়াকে তারা রাজবাড়ীতে তরোয়াল দিয়ে হত্যা করেছিল।
And all the people of the land rejoiced, and the city was at rest: and they killed Gotholia with the sword in the house of the king.
Joas [was] seven years old when he began to reign.
