প্রথম রাজাবলি 3
1 ১ শলোমন মিশরের রাজা ফরৌণের মেয়েকে বিয়ে করে তাঁর সঙ্গে বন্ধুত্ব স্থাপন করলেন। শলোমনের রাজবাড়ী, সদাপ্রভুর ঘর এবং যিরূশালেমের চারপাশের দেয়াল গাঁথা শেষ না হওয়া পর্যন্ত তিনি তাঁর স্ত্রীকে দায়ূদ শহরেই রাখলেন।
And Solomon became the son-in-law of Pharaoh king of Egypt, and took Pharaoh's daughter, and brought her into the City of David, until he had made an end of building his own house, and the house of YHWH, and the wall of Jerusalem all around.
2 ২ লোকেরা তখনও উপাসনার উঁচু জায়গাগুলোতে তাদের পশু বলিদানের অনুষ্ঠান করত, কারণ তখনও সদাপ্রভুর উপাসনার জন্য কোনো ঘর তৈরী করা হয়নি।
Only the people sacrificed in the high places, because there was no house built for the name of YHWH until those days.
3 ৩ শলোমন সদাপ্রভুকে ভালবাসতেন, সেইজন্য তাঁর বাবা দায়ূদের আদেশ অনুসারে জীবনযাপন করতেন; কিন্তু তিনি উপাসনার উঁচু জায়গাগুলোতে পশু বলিদান করতেন এবং ধূপ জ্বালাতেন।
Solomon loved YHWH, walking in the statutes of David his father: only he sacrificed and burnt incense in the high places.
4 ৪ রাজা একদিন পশু বলিদানের জন্য গিবিয়োনে গিয়েছিলেন, কারণ উৎসর্গের জন্য সেখানকার উপাসনার উঁচু স্থানটা ছিল প্রধান। শলোমন সেখানে এক হাজার পশু দিয়ে হোমবলির অনুষ্ঠান করলেন।
The king went to Gibeon to sacrifice there; for that was the great high place. Solomon offered a thousand burnt offerings on that altar.
5 ৫ গিবিয়োনে রাতের বেলা সদাপ্রভু স্বপ্নের মধ্যে শলোমনের কাছে উপস্থিত হলেন। ঈশ্বর তাঁকে বললেন, “বল, আমি তোমাকে কি দেব?”
In Gibeon YHWH appeared to Solomon in a dream by night; and God said, "Ask what I shall give you."
6 ৬ উত্তরে শলোমন বললেন, “তোমার দাস আমার বাবা দায়ূদকে তুমি অনেক বিশ্বস্ততা দেখিয়েছ, কারণ তিনি তোমার প্রতি বিশ্বস্ত ছিলেন এবং খাঁটি ও সৎ ছিলেন। আজ তাঁর সিংহাসনে বসবার জন্য তুমি তাঁকে একটি ছেলে দিয়েছ এবং এই ভাবে তোমার সেই সীমাহীন বিশ্বস্ততা তাঁকে দেখিয়ে যাচ্ছ।
Solomon said, "You have shown to your servant David my father great loving kindness, according as he walked before you in truth, and in righteousness, and in uprightness of heart with you. You have kept for him this great loving kindness, that you have given him a son to sit on his throne, as it is this day.
7 ৭ হে আমার ঈশ্বর সদাপ্রভু, আমার বাবা দায়ূদের জায়গায় তুমি এখন তোমার দাসকে রাজা করেছ। কিন্তু বয়স আমার খুবই কম, আমি জানি না কি করে বাইরে যেতে হয় এবং ভিতরে আসতে হয়।
Now, YHWH my God, you have made your servant king instead of David my father. I am but a little child. I do not know how to go out or come in.
8 ৮ এখানে তোমার দাস তোমার বেছে নেওয়া লোকদের মধ্যে রয়েছে। তারা এমন একটা মহাজাতি যে, তাদের সংখ্যা গণনা করা যায় না।
Your servant is in the midst of your people which you have chosen, a great people, that can't be numbered nor counted for multitude.
9 ৯ সেইজন্য তোমার লোকদের শাসন করবার জন্য এবং কোনটা ঠিক বা কোনটা ভুল তা জানবার জন্য তুমি তোমার দাসের মনে বোঝবার ক্ষমতা দাও। কারণ কার সাধ্য আছে তোমার এই মহাজাতির বিচার করে?”
Give your servant therefore an understanding heart to judge your people, that I may discern between good and evil; for who is able to judge this your great people?"
The speech pleased YHWH, that Solomon had asked this thing.
11 ১১ ঈশ্বর তাঁকে বললেন, “তুমি অনেক আয়ু, কিম্বা নিজের জন্য ধন সম্পদ, কিম্বা তোমার শত্রুদের মৃত্যু না চেয়ে যখন সুবিচার করবার জন্য বোঝবার ক্ষমতা চেয়েছ,
God said to him, "Because you have asked this thing, and have not asked for yourself long life, neither have asked riches for yourself, nor have asked the life of your enemies, but have asked for yourself understanding to discern justice;
12 ১২ তখন তুমি যা চেয়েছ তাই আমি তোমাকে দেব। আমি তোমার অন্তরে এমন জ্ঞান ও বিচারবুদ্ধি দিলাম যার জন্য দেখা যাবে যে, এর আগে তোমার মত আর কেউ ছিল না আর পরেও হবে না।
look, I have done according to your word. Look, I have given you a wise and an understanding heart; so that there has been none like you before you, neither after you shall any arise like you.
13 ১৩ আমি তোমাকে সেটা দিলাম যেটা তুমি চাওনি। আমি তোমাকে এমন ধন সম্পদ ও সম্মান দিলাম যার ফলে তোমার জীবনকালে রাজাদের মধ্যে আর কেউ তোমার সমান হবে না।
I have also given you that which you have not asked, both riches and honor, so that there shall not be any among the kings like you, all your days.
14 ১৪ তোমার বাবা দায়ূদের মত করে যদি তুমি আমার সব নিয়ম ও আদেশ পালন করার জন্য আমার পথে চল তবে আমি তোমাকে অনেক আয়ু দেব।”
If you will walk in my ways, to keep my statutes and my commandments, as your father David walked, then I will lengthen your days."
15 ১৫ এর পর শলোমন জেগে উঠলেন আর বুঝতে পারলেন যে, ওটা একটা স্বপ্ন ছিল। পরে শলোমন যিরূশালেমে ফিরে গিয়ে সদাপ্রভুর সাক্ষ্য সিন্দুকের সামনে দাঁড়ালেন এবং অনেক পশু দিয়ে হোমবলি ও মঙ্গলার্থক বলির অনুষ্ঠান করলেন। তারপর তাঁর সমস্ত কর্মচারীদের জন্য একটা ভোজ দিলেন।
Solomon awoke; and look, it was a dream. Then he arose and came to Jerusalem, and stood before the ark of the covenant of YHWH, and offered up burnt offerings, offered peace offerings, and made a feast for all his servants.
Then two women who were prostitutes came to the king, and stood before him.
17 ১৭ তাদের মধ্যে একজন বলল, “হে আমার প্রভু, এই স্ত্রীলোকটী এবং আমি একই ঘরে থাকি। সে সেখানে থাকবার দিন আমার একটি সন্তান প্রসব হয়।
The one woman said, "Oh, my lord, I and this woman dwell in one house. I delivered a child with her in the house.
18 ১৮ আমার প্রসবের তিন দিন পরে এই স্ত্রীলোকটিও প্রসব করল। ঘরে আর কেউ ছিল না, শুধু আমরা দুইজনই ছিলাম।
It happened the third day after I delivered, that this woman delivered also. We were together. There was no stranger with us in the house, just us two in the house.
This woman's child died in the night, because she lay on it.
20 ২০ মাঝ রাতে আপনার দাসী আমি যখন ঘুমিয়ে ছিলাম, তখন সে উঠে আমার পাশ থেকে আমার সন্তানকে নিয়ে নিজের বুকের কাছে রাখল আর তার মরা সন্তানকে নিয়ে আমার বুকের কাছে রাখল।
She arose at midnight, and took my son from beside me, while your handmaid slept, and laid it in her bosom, and laid her dead child in my bosom.
21 ২১ ভোররাতে আমার সন্তানকে দুধ খাওয়াতে উঠে দেখলাম ছেলেটি মরা। সকালের আলোতে আমি যখন তাকে ভাল করে দেখলাম তখন বুঝলাম সে আমার নিজের জন্ম দেওয়া ছেলে নয়।”
When I rose in the morning to nurse my child, look, it was dead; but when I had looked at it in the morning, look, it was not my son, whom I bore."
22 ২২ তখন অন্য স্ত্রীলোকটী বলল, “না, না, জীবিত ছেলেটি আমার আর মরাটা তোমার।” কিন্তু প্রথমজন জোর দিয়ে বলল, “না, মরাটা তোমার আর জীবিতটা আমার।” এই ভাবে রাজার সামনেই তারা কথা বলতে লাগল।
The other woman said, "No; but the living is my son, and the dead is your son." This said, "No; but the dead is your son, and the living is my son." Thus they spoke before the king.
23 ২৩ রাজা বললেন, “এ বলছে, ‘আমার ছেলে বেঁচে আছে আর তোমারটা মারা গেছে।’ আবার ও বলছে, ‘না, না, তোমার ছেলে মারা গেছে আমারটা বেঁচে আছে’।”
Then the king said, "The one says, 'This is my son who lives, and your son is the dead;' and the other says, 'No; but your son is the dead one, and my son is the living one.'"
The king said, "Get me a sword." They brought a sword before the king.
The king said, "Divide the living child in two, and give half to the one, and half to the other."
26 ২৬ যার ছেলেটি বেঁচে ছিল ছেলের জন্য সেই স্ত্রীলোকের হৃদয় অনুকম্পায় ভরে যাওয়াতে সে রাজাকে বলল, “হে আমার প্রভু, মিনতি করি, ওকেই আপনি জীবিত ছেলেটি দিয়ে দিন; ছেলেটিকে মেরে ফেলবেন না।” কিন্তু অন্য স্ত্রীলোকটী বলল, “ও তোমারও না হোক আর আমারও না হোক। ওকে কেটে দুই টুকরো কর।”
Then the woman whose the living child was spoke to the king, for her heart yearned over her son, and she said, "Oh, my lord, give her the living child, and in no way kill it." But the other said, "It shall be neither mine nor yours. Divide it."
27 ২৭ রাজা তখন তাঁর রায় দিয়ে বললেন, “জীবিত ছেলেটি ঐ প্রথম স্ত্রীলোকটীকে দাও। ওকে কেটো না; ওই ওর মা।”
Then the king answered, "Give her the living child, and in no way kill it. She is its mother."
28 ২৮ রাজার দেওয়া রায় শুনে ইস্রায়েলের সকলের মনে রাজার প্রতি ভক্তিপূর্ণ ভয় জেগে উঠল, কারণ তারা দেখতে পেল যে, সুবিচার করবার জন্য তাঁর মনে ঈশ্বরের দেওয়া জ্ঞান রয়েছে।
All Israel heard of the judgment which the king had judged; and they feared the king: for they saw that the wisdom of God was in him, to do justice.
