1 Amo esoha, Isala: ili da hina bagade hame galu. Lifai dunu afadafa da Ifala: ime agolo soge ganodini esalu. E da Bedeleheme moilai, Yuda soge ganodini, amoga ea gidisedagi uda a: fini (amo da ea udadafa hame be ema gilisili golamusa: eno lai) amo hamomusa: lai.
In those days, when there was no king in Israel, there was a certain Levite living on the farther side of the hill country of Ephraim, who took for himself a concubine out of Bethlehem Judah.
2 Be amo uda da Lifai dunuma ougiba: le, hobea: i dagoi. E da ea eda ea diasu Bedeleheme moilai ganodini, amoga buhagili, oubi biyaduyale gala esalu.
His concubine played the prostitute against him, and went away from him to her father’s house to Bethlehem Judah, and was there for four months.
3 Amalalu, Lifai dunu da e bu lamusa: dawa: i galu. E da ea hawa: hamosu dunu amola dougi aduna amo uda ea eda diasuga oule asi. Ea uda da eda diasu logo doasi amola ea eda da Lifai dunu hahawane aowai.
Her husband arose and went after her to speak kindly to her, to bring her again, having his servant with him and a couple of donkeys. She brought him into her father’s house; and when the father of the young lady saw him, he rejoiced to meet him.
4 Eda da ema esaloma: ne sia: i. Amaiba: le, e da eso udiana ouesalu. E amola ea uda da amo diasuga ha: i mai amola amogai gasi udiana golai.
His father-in-law, the young lady’s father, kept him there; and he stayed with him three days. So they ate and drank, and stayed there.
5 Eso biyadu amoga hahabedafa ela da nedigili, logoga masunusa: liligi momagei. Be uda ea eda da Lifai dunu ema amane sia: i, “Hidadea fonobahadi ha: i moma. Amo da dima gasa imunu. Fa: no masunu da defea.”
On the fourth day, they got up early in the morning, and he rose up to depart. The young lady’s father said to his son-in-law, “Strengthen your heart with a morsel of bread, and afterward you shall go your way.”
6 Amaiba: le, amo dunu aduna da fili, ha: i mai amola waini hano mai. Amalalu, uda ea eda da ema amane sia: i, “Guiguda: hahawane golama!”
So they sat down, ate, and drank, both of them together. Then the young lady’s father said to the man, “Please be pleased to stay all night, and let your heart be merry.”
7 Lifai dunu da masunusa: wale gadoi. Be uda ea eda da ema ha: giwane esaloma: ne sia: beba: le, e da eno gasi amoga goegawi golai.
The man rose up to depart; but his father-in-law urged him, and he stayed there again.
8 Golale, eso bi hahabedafa, e da masunusa: dawa: i galu. Be uda ea eda da amane sia: i, “Hidadea ha: i moma. Esomogoa agoane masunu da defea.” Amaiba: le, amo dunu aduna da ha: i mai.
He arose early in the morning on the fifth day to depart; and the young lady’s father said, “Please strengthen your heart and stay until the day declines;” and they both ate.
9 Lifai dunu amola ea gidisedagi uda amola ea hawa: hamosu dunu da masusa: dawa: beba: le, eda da amane sia: i, “Daeya da gadenesa. Dilia gasimu galebe. Guiguda: hahawane golama. Hahabedafa dia diasuga masunu da defea.”
When the man rose up to depart, he, and his concubine, and his servant, his father-in-law, the young lady’s father, said to him, “Behold, now the day draws towards evening, please stay all night. Behold, the day is ending. Stay here, that your heart may be merry; and tomorrow go on your way early, that you may go home.”
But the man wouldn’t stay that night, but he rose up and went near Jebus (also called Jerusalem). With him were a couple of saddled donkeys. His concubine also was with him.
11 Be Lifai dunu da gasi eno amoga golamu higa: i galu. Amaiba: le, e, ea gidisedagi uda, ela hawa: hamosu dunu amola dougi aduna (fisu amo da: iya ligisibi ba: i) logoga asi. Ilia da Yibase (Yelusaleme) gadenene doaga: loba, gasi gadenene ba: i. Amaiba: le, hawa: hamosu dunu da amane sia: i, “Ninia da amo Yibase moilai bai bagade ganodini golamu da defea.”
When they were by Jebus, the day was far spent; and the servant said to his master, “Please come and let’s enter into this city of the Jebusites, and stay in it.”
His master said to him, “We won’t enter into the city of a foreigner that is not of the children of Israel; but we will pass over to Gibeah.”
13 Be ea ouligisu da amane sia: i, “Isala: ili dunu hame esalebe moilai bai bagade ganodini golamu da defea hame. Ninia da amo moilai baligili, Gibia o Lama moilaiga golamu.”
He said to his servant, “Come and let’s draw near to one of these places; and we will lodge in Gibeah, or in Ramah.”
14 Amaiba: le, ilia da Yibase moilai bai bagade (Yelusaleme) baligili, Gibia moilai Bediamini fi ilia soge ganodini, amoga doaga: i. Amoha eso dabe ba: i.
So they passed on and went their way; and the sun went down on them near Gibeah, which belongs to Benjamin.
15 Ilia da logo fisili, diasuga golamusa: asi. Ilia da moilai dogoa sogebi amoga asili, be dunu da ili aowamusa: hame sia: i.
They went over there, to go in to stay in Gibeah. He went in, and sat down in the street of the city; for there was no one who took them into his house to stay.
16 Ilia da amoga esaloba, dunu da: i da ea ifabi amoga hawa: hamonanu, ilima doaga: i. E da musa: Ifala: ime agolo soge amoga esalu. Be amoga mugululi, Gibia moilaiga misi esalu. (Eno dunu huluane amogawi esalu da Bediamini dunu).
Behold, an old man came from his work out of the field at evening. Now the man was from the hill country of Ephraim, and he lived in Gibeah; but the men of the place were Benjamites.
17 Dunu da: i da Lifai dunu moilai dogoa sogebi amoga esalebe ba: beba: le, e amane sia: i, “Di da habidili misibala: ? Amola di da habidili masa: bela: ?”
He lifted up his eyes, and saw the wayfaring man in the street of the city; and the old man said, “Where are you going? Where did you come from?”
18 Lifai dunu da bu adole i, “Ninia da Bedeleheme moilai Yuda soge gadili asili, wali ninia da ninia diasu Ifala: ime agolo soge amoga buhagisa. Guiguda: dunu eno da ninima golama: ne sogebi hame olei.
He said to him, “We are passing from Bethlehem Judah to the farther side of the hill country of Ephraim. I am from there, and I went to Bethlehem Judah. I am going to the LORD’s house; and there is no one who has taken me into his house.
19 Ninia da dougi ea ha: i manu gala. Amola ninia da ha: i manu amola waini hano, na amola na gidisedagi uda amola na hawa: hamosu dunu manu defele gala. Be amo mae dawa: le, dunu da ninima golamu sogebi hame olei.”
Yet there is both straw and feed for our donkeys; and there is bread and wine also for me, and for your servant, and for the young man who is with your servants. There is no lack of anything.”
20 Dunu da: i da amane sia: i, “Dilia da na diasuga golamu da defea. Na da hahawane dili ouligimu. Dilia da gadili moilai dogoa sogebi amoga golamu da hamedei.”
The old man said, “Peace be to you! Just let me supply all your needs, but don’t sleep in the street.”
21 Amaiba: le, e da ili ea diasuga oule asili, ilia dougi amoma ha: i manu i. Ilia da emo dodofelalu, ha: i mai.
So he brought him into his house, and gave the donkeys fodder. Then they washed their feet, and ate and drank.
22 Ilia da hahawane da: i dunu ea diasu ganodini esalu. Amalalu, dunu amo sama ea sama adole lasu dunu da diasu sisiga: le, logo ga: suga bagade fasu. Ilia da dunu da: i ema amane sia: i, “Dunu da dia diasuga misi, amo gadili oule masa. Ninia da ema adole lasu hou hamomu.”
As they were making their hearts merry, behold, the men of the city, certain wicked fellows, surrounded the house, beating at the door; and they spoke to the master of the house, the old man, saying, “Bring out the man who came into your house, that we can have sex with him!”
23 Be dunu da: i da gadili asili, ilima amane sia: i, “Na na: iyado! Hame mabu! Amo wadela: idafa hou ema mae hamoma. Na da amo dunu na diasuga aowasa.
The man, the master of the house, went out to them, and said to them, “No, my brothers, please don’t act so wickedly; since this man has come into my house, don’t do this folly.
24 Ba: ma! Ea gidisedagi uda amola na uda mano dunu hame fi da esalebe. Na da ela gadili oule misini, dilia hanai hou elama hamoma. Be amo dunuma amo wadela: i hou mae hamoma.”
Behold, here is my virgin daughter and his concubine. I will bring them out now. Humble them, and do with them what seems good to you; but to this man don’t do any such folly.”
25 Be wadela: i adole lasu dunu da ea sia: hame nabi. Amaiba: le, Lifai dunu da ea gidisedagi uda lale, gadili oule asili, ilima i. Ilia da gasi ganodini, mae fisili, amo uda wadela: lesi amola ilia hanaiga wadela: idafa hou hamonanu, hahabe fawane yolesi.
But the men wouldn’t listen to him; so the man grabbed his concubine, and brought her out to them; and they had sex with her, and abused her all night until the morning. When the day began to dawn, they let her go.
26 Hahabedafa, uda da dunu da: i ea diasu amoga egoa esalu, amo logo ga: suga misini, diasa: i. Eso misi digagala: be galu e da amogai dialebe ba: i.
Then the woman came in the dawning of the day, and fell down at the door of the man’s house where her lord was, until it was light.
27 Egoa da nedigili, e da masusa: logo doasili, ea gidisedagi uda osoboga diasa: i, ea lobo logo ga: su gagumusa: molole guda: i dialebe ba: i.
Her lord rose up in the morning and opened the doors of the house, and went out to go his way; and behold, the woman his concubine had fallen down at the door of the house, with her hands on the threshold.
28 E amane sia: i, “Wa: legadoma! Ninia da ahoa: di!” Be e da bu hame ado baoui. Amaiba: le, e da ea bogoi da: i hodo amo dougi da: iya ligisili, hi diasuga asi.
He said to her, “Get up, and let’s get going!” but no one answered. Then he took her up on the donkey; and the man rose up, and went to his place.
29 E da hi diasuga doaga: loba, ganodini golili sa: ili, gobihei lai. Amoga e da ea gidisedagi uda ea da: i hodo dadega: le, hu amola gasa fagoyale agoane ligiagagale, afae afae amo, e da Isala: ili fi fagoyale gala ilima iasi.
When he had come into his house, he took a knife and cut up his concubine, and divided her, limb by limb, into twelve pieces, and sent her throughout all the borders of Israel.
30 Dunu huluane da amo hou ba: beba: le bagadewane fofogadigi. Ilia amane sia: i, “Ninia agoai hou da hamedafa ba: i. Ninia da Idibidi soge yolesili, amogainini wali, agoai hou hamedafa ba: su. Ninia amo hou hahamomu da defea. Hahamomusa: gini ninia adi hou hamoma: bela: ?”
It was so, that all who saw it said, “Such a deed has not been done or seen from the day that the children of Israel came up out of the land of Egypt to this day! Consider it, take counsel, and speak.”
