1 Baş kahin Stefandan soruşdu: «Bunlar doğrudurmu?»
And the chief priest said: Are these things so?
2 Stefan belə cavab verdi: «Qardaşlar və atalar, məni dinləyin! Atamız İbrahim hələ Mesopotamiyada ikən Xaranda məskunlaşmazdan əvvəl izzətli Allah ona göründü.
He replied: Brethren and fathers, hear: The God of glory appeared to our father Abraham, while he was in Mesopotamia, before he dwelt in Charran,
3 Ona belə dedi: “Öz torpağından, qohumlarının arasından çıx, sənə göstərəcəyim torpağa get”.
and said to him: Get out from your land, and from your kindred, and come into a land that I will show you.
4 Buna görə İbrahim Xaldeylilərin ölkəsini tərk edib Xarana köçdü. Atasının ölümündən sonra Allah onu oradan da götürüb sizin indi yaşadığınız bu ölkəyə gətirdi.
Then he departed from the land of the Chaldeans, and dwelt in Charran; and thence, after his father died, he removed into this land, in which you now dwell.
5 Burada ona irs olaraq bir qarış belə, torpaq vermədi. Amma İbrahimin o zaman hələ övladı olmasa da, Allah bu torpağı mülk olaraq ona və onun gələcək nəslinə verəcəyini vəd etmişdi.
And he gave him no inheritance in it, not a foot breadth: and yet he promised to give it for a possession to him, and to his posterity after him, when as yet he had no child.
6 Allah ona belə dedi: “Nəslin yad ölkədə qərib olacaq, orada olan millətə köləlik edəcək və onlara dörd yüz il zülm ediləcək”.
And God spoke thus: That his posterity should sojourn in a strange land, and they should enslave them and afflict them, for four hundred years.
7 “Ancaq onların köləlik edəcəkləri milləti Özüm cəzalandıracağam” dedi Allah, “bundan sonra oradan çıxacaqlar” və “bu yerdə Mənə ibadət edəcəklər”.
And the nation to which they shall be in bondage I will judge, said God; and after that, they shall come forth and serve me in this place.
8 Sonra Allah onunla sünnətlə bağlı Əhd kəsdi. Beləliklə də, İbrahim İshaqın atası olarkən onu səkkiz günlük olanda sünnət etdi. Bundan sonra İshaqdan Yaqub, Yaqubdan da on iki ulu babamız törədi.
And he gave him the covenant of circumcision, and thus he begot Isaac, and circumcised him the eighth day; and Isaac begot Jacob, and Jacob begot the twelve patriarchs.
9 Bu ulu babalarımız paxıllıqdan Yusifi qul kimi Misirə satdı. Lakin Allah Yusifə yar idi.
And the patriarchs, moved with envy, sold Joseph into Egypt: but God was with him,
10 Onu bütün əziyyətlərdən qurtardı və ona hikmət verərək Misir hökmdarı fironun gözündə lütf qazandırdı. Firon onu Misirin və öz sarayında olan bütün xalqın rəhbəri təyin etdi.
and delivered him from all his afflictions, and gave him favor and wisdom in the sight of Pharoah, king of Egypt: and he made him governor over Egypt, and his whole house.
11 Sonra bütün Misir və Kənan torpağı aclıq və böyük əziyyətlərlə üzləşdi. Bu ata-babalarımız yemək tapa bilmədi.
And there came a famine, and great affliction on the whole land of Egypt, and of Chanaan: and our fathers found no sustenance.
12 Yaqub eşidəndə ki, Misirdə taxıl var, bu ata-babalarımızı birinci dəfə oraya göndərdi.
But when Jacob heard that there was grain in Egypt, he sent forth our fathers the first time:
13 Onlar ikinci dəfə Misirə gələndə Yusif özünü qardaşlarına tanıtdı. Bununla da firon Yusifin ailəsi ilə tanış oldu.
and, on their second visit, Joseph made himself known to his brothers, and the kindred of Joseph were made known to Pharaoh.
14 Yusif atası Yaquba xəbər göndərib onunla birgə bütün qohumlarını – yetmiş beş nəfəri çağırtdırdı.
And Joseph sent and called to him his father Jacob, and all his kindred, seventy-five souls.
15 Beləliklə, Yaqub Misirə getdi. Özü ilə bu ata-babalarımız da orada öldü.
And Jacob went down into Egypt, and died, himself and our fathers;
16 Onların cəsədləri sonradan Şekemə gətirildi və Şekemdə İbrahimin Xamor övladlarından bir neçə gümüşə satın aldığı qəbirdə dəfn olundu.
and they were carried over into Sychem, and laid in the sepulcher which Abraham bought for its value in silver, from the sons of Emmor, the father of Sychem.
17 Allahın İbrahimə bəyan etdiyi vədin həyata keçdiyi vaxt yaxınlaşanda Misirdəki xalqımızın sayı bir xeyli çoxalmışdı.
And as the time of the promise which God had made with an oath to Abraham drew near, the people increased and multiplied in Egypt,
18 Axırda Misirdə Yusifi tanımayan yeni bir padşah taxta çıxdı.
till another king arose, who knew not Joseph.
19 Bu adam soydaşlarımıza hiylə işlətdi, zorakılıqla ata-babalarımızı məcbur etdi ki, yeni doğulan körpələrini sağ qalmasın deyə bayıra atsınlar.
He dealt insidiously with our race, and afflicted our fathers, so that they exposed their infants, in order that they might not live.
20 Bu dövrdə son dərəcə gözəl bir körpə olan Musa doğuldu. O, üç ay atasının evində bəsləndi.
At which time Moses was born; and he was exceedingly beautiful, and was nursed three months in his father’s house.
21 Sonra o da bayıra atıldı. Onu fironun qızı tapıb özünə övlad etdi və öz oğlu kimi böyütdü.
But having been exposed, the daughter of Pharaoh took him up, and educated him as her own son.
22 Musa Misirlilərin bütün elmi biliklərinə bağlı tərbiyə alıb söz və əməlində güclü bir şəxsiyyət oldu.
And Moses was instructed in all the wisdom of the Egyptians, and was mighty in words and in deeds.
23 Musa qırx yaşına çatanda ürəyində soydaşları İsrail övladlarının vəziyyətini yaxından bilmək arzusu oyandı.
When he had completed his fortieth year, it came into his heart to visit his brethren, the sons of Israel.
24 Onlardan birinin zərər çəkdiyini görəndə Musa onu müdafiə etdi. Zərər vuran Misirlini öldürərək əzilən insanın intiqamını aldı.
And seeing one of them unjustly treated, he defended and avenged him that was oppressed, and smote the Egyptian.
25 O belə fikirləşdi: “Soydaşlarım dərk edəcəklər ki, mənim vasitəmlə Allah onları xilas edir”. Amma onlar bunu dərk etmədilər.
And he supposed that his brethren would understand that, by his hand, God would give them salvation: but they understood not.
26 Ertəsi gün Musa dalaşan iki İsraillini görəndə onları barışdırmaq istədi və dedi: “Ay kişilər, siz soydaşsınız, niyə bir-birinizə zərər vurursunuz?”
And on the next day he showed himself to them, as they were fighting, and endeavored to persuade them to peace, saying, Men, you are brothers: why do you injure one another?
27 Lakin soydaşına zərər vuran kişi Musanı itələyib dedi: “Səni bizim üstümüzə kim başçı və hakim qoyub?
But he that was doing the injury to his neighbor, thrust him away, saying, Who made you a ruler or a judge over us?
28 Yoxsa dünən Misirlini öldürdüyün kimi məni də öldürmək fikrindəsən?”
Do you intend to kill me, as you killed the Egyptian yesterday?
29 Bu sözə görə Musa qaçdı. O, Midyan torpağında, qürbətdə yaşadı və orada iki oğul atası oldu.
And at that saying Moses fled, and became a resident in the land of Midian, where he begot two sons.
30 Qırx il keçəndən sonra Musa Sina dağının yaxınlığındakı səhrada olanda mələk ona bir kol arasından od-alov içərisində göründü.
And when forty years were completed, there appeared to him, in the wilderness of Mount Sinai, an angel of the Lord in a flame of fire in a bush.
31 Musa gördüklərinə heyrətləndi. Baxmaq üçün oraya yaxınlaşanda Rəbbin səsini eşitdi:
When Moses saw it, he wondered at the sight, and as he was drawing near to observe it, the voice of the Lord came to him:
32 “Mən ata-babalarının Allahı – İbrahimin, İshaqın və Yaqubun Allahıyam”. Musa qorxusundan lərzəyə gəlib baxmağa belə, cəsarət etmədi.
I am the God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob. And Moses trembled, and durst not observe it.
33 Rəbb ona dedi: “Ayaqlarından çarıqlarını çıxart, çünki durduğun yer müqəddəs torpaqdır.
Then said the Lord to him: Loose your shoes from your feet; for the place in which you stand is holy ground.
34 Həqiqətən, Mən Misirdə olan xalqımın əziyyətini gördüm, fəryadlarını eşitdim və onları qurtarmaq üçün endim. İndi get, Mən səni Misirə göndərirəm”.
I have surely seen the affliction of my people who are in Egypt, and I have heard their groaning, and I have come down to deliver them; and now come, and I will send you into Egypt.
35 Bu, həmin Musadır ki, onu rədd edib demişdilər: “Səni bizim üstümüzə kim başçı və hakim qoyub?” Amma Allah Musanı bir kol arasında görünən mələyin əli ilə başçı və qurtarıcı olaraq göndərdi.
This Moses, whom they rejected, saying, Who made you a ruler and a judge? him God sent as a ruler and as a redeemer, by the hand of the angel that appeared to him in the bush.
36 O, xalqı Misirdən çıxaran, həm orada, həm Qırmızı dənizdə, həm də qırx il ərzində səhrada xariqə və əlamətlər yaradan insan idi.
He brought them out, after he had performed wonders and signs in the land of Egypt, and at the Red Sea, and in the wilderness, forty years.
37 İsrail övladlarına “Allah məni yetirdiyi kimi sizin üçün öz soydaşlarınız içərisindən bir peyğəmbər yetirəcək” deyən bu Musadır.
This is that Moses, who said to the sons of Israel, A prophet like me will the Lord your God raise up for you from among your brethren; him shall you hear.
38 Bu, həmin adamdır ki, Sina dağında onunla danışan mələklə və ata-babalarımızla birgə səhradakı cəmiyyətdə olmuşdu. O, canlı sözlər almışdı ki, bizə versin.
This is he who was in the congregation in the wilderness with the angel that spoke to him in the mount Sina, and with our fathers; he received the living oracles, that he might give them to us.
39 Ata-babalarımızsa Musanın sözünə baxmaq istəmədi, onu rədd etdi və Misirə qayıtmağı arzuladılar.
To him our fathers were not willing to be obedient; but they rejected him, and turned back in their hearts to Egypt,
40 Haruna dedilər: “Bizim üçün allahlar düzəlt ki, qabağımızca getsinlər. Çünki bizi Misir torpağından çıxaran adamın – bu Musanın başına nə iş gəldiyini bilmirik!”
saying to Aaron: Make us gods that shall go before us; for, as for this Moses, who brought us out of the land of Egypt, we know not what has become of him.
41 O günlərdə dana şəklində bir büt düzəldib ona qurban gətirdilər və öz əlləri ilə düzəltdikləri bu büt üçün şənlik qurdular.
And they made a calf in those days, and offered sacrifice to the idol, and rejoiced in the works of their own hands.
42 Buna görə Allah ata-babalarımızdan üz döndərib onları tərk etdi ki, səma cisimlərinə ibadət etsinlər. Peyğəmbərlərin kitabında da belə yazılıb: “Ey İsrail nəsli, Qırx il çöldə olanda Mənə qurban və təqdimlər gətirmişdinizmi?
But God turned and delivered them up to serve the host of heaven, as it is written in the book of the prophets: Your victims and your sacrifices did you offer to me for forty years in the wilderness, O house of Israel?
43 Səcdə edəsiniz deyə düzəltdiyiniz Molekin çadırını, Tanrınız Refanın ulduz bütünü gəzdirdiniz. Elə buna görə də sizi Babilin o tayına sürgünə aparacağam”.
Yes, you took up the tabernacle of Moloch, and the star of your God Remphan, images which you made to worship; and I will carry you away beyond Babylon.
44 Səhrada ata-babalarınızın Şəhadət çadırı var idi. Musa bunu onunla danışan Allahın əmr etdiyi kimi, gördüyü nümunəyə əsasən düzəltmişdi.
The tabernacle of the testimony was with our fathers in the wilderness, built as he who spoke to Moses commanded him to build it, according to the pattern which he had seen:
45 Şəhadət çadırını əvvəlki nəsildən təhvil alan ata-babalarımız Yeşuanın başçılığı ilə başqa millətlərin mülkünü ələ keçirəndə çadırı da özləri ilə gətirmişdilər. Allah Özü millətləri ata-babalarımızın qarşısından qovdu. Şəhadət çadırı Davudun dövrünə qədər qaldı.
which our fathers, who were with Joshua, received by succession, and brought into the land possessed by the Gentiles, whom God continued to drive out from the face of our fathers till the days of David,
46 Allahın lütfünü qazanan Davud yalvardı ki, Yaqubun nəsli üçün bir məskən qura bilsin.
who found favor before God, and desired to find a dwelling-place for the God of Jacob.
47 Lakin Allaha ev tikən Süleyman oldu.
But Solomon built him a house.
48 Amma Haqq-Taala əllə tikilən evlərdə yaşamaz. Peyğəmbərin dediyi kimi
Yet the Most High dwells not in temples made with hands, as says the prophet:
49 Rəbb belə deyir: “Göylər Mənim taxtımdır, Yer ayaqlarımın altındakı kətildir. Mənim üçün nə cür ev tikəcəksiniz, Dincələcəyim yer harada olacaq?
Heaven is my throne, and the earth is my footstool. What house will you build me? says the Lord; or what is the place of my rest?
50 Bütün bunları Mənim əlim yaratmadımı?”
Has not my hand made all these things?
51 Ey dikbaş, həm ürəkləri, həm də qulaqları “sünnət” edilməmiş insanlar, ata-babanız kimi siz də həmişə Müqəddəs Ruhun əleyhinə çıxırsınız.
You stiff-necked, and uncircumcised in heart and in ears, you do always resist the Holy Spirit; as your fathers did, so also do you.
52 Ata-babalarınızın təqib etmədiyi peyğəmbər varmı? Onlar Saleh Olanın zühuru barədə əvvəlcədən xəbər verənləri belə, öldürdülər. Sizsə bu Saleh Olana xəyanət edərək Onu qətlə yetirdiniz.
Which of the prophets did not your fathers persecute? They slew also those who foretold the coming of the Just One, of whom you have now become the betrayers and murderers;
53 Mələklər vasitəsilə verilən Qanunu aldınız, lakin ona riayət etmədiniz».
who received the law by the appointment of angels, and have not kepi, it.
54 Ali Şuranın üzvləri bu sözləri eşidəndə çox qəzəbləndilər və Stefana dişlərini qıcırtdılar.
When they heard these things, they were enraged in their hearts, and gnashed upon him with their teeth.
55 Müqəddəs Ruhla dolan Stefan isə gözlərini göyə dikib Allahın ehtişamını və Allahın sağında dayanan İsanı gördü.
But being full of the Holy Spirit, he looked earnestly up into heaven, and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing at the right hand of God;
56 O dedi: «Baxın, mən göylərin yarıldığını və Bəşər Oğlunun Allahın sağında dayandığını görürəm».
and he said: Behold, I see the heavens opened, and the Son of man standing at the right hand of God.
57 Onlar qulaqlarını tutub haray qopardılar və hamısı birlikdə Stefanın üstünə hücum çəkdilər.
And they cried out with a loud voice, and stopped their ears, and, with one consent, rushed upon him,
58 Onu şəhərdən kənara çıxarıb daşqalaq etdilər. Stefanın əleyhinə şahidlik edənlər öz üst geyimlərini Şaul adlı bir gəncin ayaqları altına qoydular.
and drove him out of the city, and stoned him. And the witnesses laid down their clothes at the feet of a young man called Saul.
59 Stefan üstünə yağan daşlar altında belə yalvarırdı: «Ya Rəbb İsa, ruhumu qəbul et».
And they stoned Stephen while he was calling on the Lord, and saying: Lord Jesus, receive my spirit.
60 Sonra diz çöküb ucadan nida etdi: «Ya Rəbb, bunu onlara günah sayma». Bunu deyəndən sonra gözlərini bu həyata yumdu.
And he kneeled down and cried with a loud voice: Lord, let not this sin stand against them. And when he had said this, he fell asleep. And Saul was well pleased with his death.
