1 ১ যিহোৱাই গৃহ নিৰ্ম্মাণ নকৰিলে, নিৰ্ম্মাণ কৰাসকলৰ পৰিশ্ৰম বৃথা; যিহোৱাই নগৰ ৰক্ষা নকৰিলে, ৰখীয়াই পৰ দিয়াও মিছা।

A Song of degrees for Solomon. Except the LORD shall build the house, they labor in vain that build it: except the LORD shall keep the city, the watchman waketh in vain.

2 ২ মিছাকৈয়ে তোমালোকে পৰিশ্রম কৰিবলৈ ৰাতিপুৱা সোনকালে উঠা আৰু পলমকৈ শয়ন কৰিবলৈ যোৱা, আৰু পৰিশ্রমৰ আহাৰ ভক্ষণ কৰা; কিয়নো প্রেম কৰাজনক যিহোৱাই নিদ্রা অৱস্থাতো একেৰূপ ফল দিয়ে।

[It is] vain for you to rise early, to sit up late, to eat the bread of sorrows: [for] so he giveth his beloved sleep.

3 ৩ সন্তান সকল যিহোৱাই দিয়া আধিপত্য আৰু গৰ্ভফল তেৱেঁই দিয়া পুৰস্কাৰ।

Lo, children [are] a heritage of the LORD: [and] the fruit of the womb [is his] reward.

4 ৪ বীৰৰ হাতত কাঁড়বোৰ যেনে, যুবা সন্তান সকলো তেনে।

As arrows [are] in the hand of a mighty man: so [are] children of the youth.

5 ৫ সেই পুৰুষ সুখী, যিজনৰ কাঁড়েৰে পূর্ণ কাঁড় থোৱা চূঙা থাকে। নগৰৰ দুৱাৰত শত্ৰুবোৰে সৈতে তেওঁ যেতিয়া কথা পাতে, তেওঁ লজ্জিত নহ’ব।

Happy [is] the man that hath his quiver full of them: they shall not be ashamed, but they shall speak with the enemies in the gate.
