প্রবচন 4

1 ১ হে মোৰ পুত্রসকল, পিতৃৰ উপদেশ শুনা, আৰু মনোযোগ দিয়া, যাতে তুমি সুবিবেচনা বুজিব পাৰা।

Hear, ye children, the instruction of a father, and attend to know understanding.

2 ২ মই তোমালোকক উত্তম কৰ্মবিধি দিওঁ। মোৰ শিক্ষা প্রণালী পৰিত্যাগ নকৰিবা।

For I give you a good gift; forsake ye not my law.

3 ৩ মই যেতিয়া মোৰ পিতৃৰ পুত্ৰ আছিলোঁ, মোৰ মাতৃৰ মৰমৰ একমাত্র সন্তান আছিলোঁ।

For I also was a son obedient to [my] father, and loved in the sight of [my] mother:

4 ৪ তেওঁ মোক শিকাইছিল আৰু মোক কৈছিল, “তোমাৰ হৃদয়ত মোৰ বাক্য ধৰি ৰাখা; মোৰ আজ্ঞাবোৰ পালন কৰা আৰু জীৱন ধাৰণ কৰা।”

who spoke and instructed me, [saying], Let our speech be fixed in thine heart, keep [our] commandments, forget them not:

5 ৫ প্রজ্ঞা আৰু বিবেচনা শক্তি অৰ্জন কৰা; মোৰ মুখৰ পৰা ওলোৱা বাক্য নাপাহৰিবা আৰু ত্যাগ নকৰিবা।

and do not neglect the speech of my mouth.

6 ৬ প্ৰজ্ঞাক ত্যাগ নকৰিবা, তেতিয়া তেওঁ তোমাৰ ওপৰত দৃষ্টি ৰাখিব; তেওঁক প্ৰেম কৰা, আৰু তেওঁ তোমাক সুৰক্ষিত কৰি ৰাখিব।

And forsake it not, and it shall cleave to thee: love it, and it shall keep thee.

7 ৭ প্ৰজ্ঞা হৈছে অতি গুৰুত্বপূৰ্ণ বিষয়, সেয়ে প্ৰজ্ঞা অৰ্জন কৰা; আৰু তুমি অৰ্জন কৰা প্রজ্ঞাক সকলোতে ব্যৱহাৰ কৰা, তাতে তুমি বিবেচনা শক্তি লাভ কৰিবা।

8 ৮ প্রজ্ঞাক সস্নেহে প্রতিপালন কৰা, তেওঁ তোমাক উচ্চ স্হানত স্হাপন কৰিব; তুমি তেওঁক আঁকোৱালি ধৰিলে, তেওঁ তোমাক আদৰ কৰিব।

Secure it, and it shall exalt thee: honour it, that it may embrace thee;

9 ৯ তেওঁ তোমাৰ মুৰত সন্মানীয় মালা দিব, তেওঁ তোমাক এটা সুন্দৰ মুকুট দিব।”

that it may give unto thy head a crown of graces, and may cover thee with a crown of delight.

10 ১০ হে মোৰ পুত্র শুনা, আৰু মোৰ কথালৈ মনোযোগ দিয়া; তেতিয়া তুমি বহু বছৰ জীয়াই থাকিবা।

Hear, [my] son, and receive my words; and the years of thy life shall be increased, that the resources of thy life may be many.

11 ১১ মই তোমাক প্রজ্ঞাৰ পথত পৰিচালনা কৰিছোঁ, মই তোমাক সৰল পথত নেতৃত্ব দিছোঁ।

For I teach thee the ways of wisdom; and I cause thee to go in right paths.

12 ১২ তুমি যেতিয়া খোজ দিবা, তেতিয়া কোনো এজনেও তোমাৰ পথত থিয় নহ’ব; আৰু তুমি দৌৰ মাৰিলেও উজুটি নাখাবা।

For when thou goest, thy steps shall not be straitened; and when thou runnest, thou shalt not be distressed.

13 ১৩ নিয়ম প্রণালী মানি চলিবা, ইয়াক যাবলৈ নিদিবা; ইয়াক পহৰা দিয়া, কাৰণ এয়ে তোমাৰ জীৱন।

Take hold of my instruction; let it not go, —but keep it for thyself for thy life.

14 ১৪ পাপীবোৰৰ পথ অনুসৰণ নকৰিবা, আৰু যিসকলে দুষ্টকৰ্ম কৰে, তেওঁলোকৰ পথত নাযাবা।

Go not in the ways of the ungodly, neither covet the ways of transgressors.

15 ১৫ তেওঁলোকৰ পৰা দূৰত থাকিবা, সেই পথত নাযাবা, সেই পথৰ পৰা ঘূৰি আহাঁ, আৰু অন্য পথত যোৱা;

In whatever place they shall pitch their camp, go not thither; but turn from them, and pass away.

16 ১৬ কাৰণ তেওঁলোকে কুকৰ্ম নকৰালৈকে তেওঁলোকৰ টোপনি নাহে, আৰু তেওঁলোকে কোনো লোকক উজুটি নোখোৱালৈকে তেওঁলোকৰ টোপনি নাহে।

For they cannot sleep, unless they have done evil: their sleep is taken away, and they rest not.

17 ১৭ কাৰণ তেওঁলোকে দুষ্টতাৰূপ পিঠা ভোজন কৰে, আৰু উপদ্ৰৱৰূপ দ্ৰাক্ষাৰস পান কৰে।

For these live upon the bread of ungodliness, and are drunken with wine of transgression.

18 ১৮ ধাৰ্মিকলোকৰ পথ সূৰ্যদয়ৰ দীপ্তিৰ দৰে, সেয়ে উজ্জলতাৰ পৰা উজ্জলতালৈ গতি কৰে।

But the ways of the righteous shine like light; they go on and shine, until the day be fully come.

19 ১৯ দুষ্টবোৰৰ পথ অন্ধকাৰৰ নিচিনা; সিহঁতে কিহত উজুতি খায় তাক নাজানে।

But the ways of the ungodly are dark; they know not how they stumble.

20 ২০ হে মোৰ পুত্র, মোৰ বাক্যলৈ মনোযোগ দিয়া, মই কোৱা কথা শুনা।

[My] son, attend to my speech; and apply thine ear to my words:

21 ২১ সেইবোৰ তোমাৰ দৃষ্টিৰ পৰা দূৰ হব নিদিবা; সেইবোৰ তোমাৰ হৃদয়ত বান্ধি ৰাখা।

that thy fountains may not fail thee; keep them in [thine] heart.

22 ২২ কাৰণ যিসকলে সেইবোৰ বিচাৰি পায়, তেওঁলোকৰ বাবে মোৰ বাক্য জীৱনস্বৰূপ, আৰু তেওঁলোকৰ সৰ্ব্বশৰীৰলৈ সুস্বাস্থ্যস্বৰূপ।

For they are life to those that find them, and health to all [their] flesh.

23 ২৩ সকলো অধ্যৱসায়ৰ দ্বাৰাই তোমাৰ হৃদয়ক অধিক যত্নেৰে ৰক্ষা কৰা, কিয়নো তাৰ পৰাই জীৱন উৎপন্ন হয়।

Keep thine heart with the utmost care; for out of these are the issues of life.

24 ২৪ তোমাৰ মুখৰ পৰা কটুকথা দূৰ কৰা, আৰু নৈতিকতাহীন কথা তোমাৰ পৰা দূৰ কৰা।

Remove from thee a froward mouth, and put far away from thee unjust lips.

25 ২৫ তোমাৰ চকুৱে সন্মুখলৈ চাওক, আৰু তোমাৰ দৃষ্টি তোমাৰ সন্মুখত স্থিৰ কৰা।

Let thine eyes look right on, and let thine eyelids assent [to] just [things].

26 ২৬ তোমাৰ ভৰিৰ কাৰণে পথ সমান কৰা, তেতিয়া তোমাৰ সকলো পথ সুৰক্ষিত হ’ব।

Make straight paths for thy feet, and order thy ways aright.

27 ২৭ সোঁ হাতে কি বাওঁ হাতে নুঘুৰিবা, মন্দৰ পৰা তোমাৰ ভৰি দূৰত ৰাখিবা।”

Turn not aside to the right hand nor to the left, but turn away thy foot from an evil way.
