[One day] David talked with all his army officers. Some of them were commanders of 100 soldiers and some were commanders of 1,000 soldiers.
2 ২ দায়ূদে ইস্ৰায়েলৰ সমবেত লোকসকলক ক’লে, “যদি তোমালোকৰ দৃষ্টিত ভাল হয়, আৰু আমাৰ ঈশ্বৰ যিহোৱাৰ ইচ্ছা হয়, তেন্তে আহাঁ আমি ইস্ৰায়েল দেশত সকলো ফালে অৱশিষ্ট থকা আমাৰ ভাইসকলক, পুৰোহিতসকলক আৰু তেওঁলোকৰ নগৰত বাস কৰা লেবীয়াসকলক আমাৰ লগত একগোট হবলৈ বাৰ্তাবাহকৰ যোগেদি বাৰ্তা পঠাওহঁক।
Then he summoned the other Israeli leaders and said to all of them, “If it seems to you to be a good thing for us to do, and if it is what Yahweh our God wants, let’s send a message to our fellow Israelis in all the areas of our country, including the priests and [other] descendants of Levi who are living among them in their towns and in the nearby pasturelands, to come and join us,
3 ৩ আহাঁ আমাৰ ঈশ্বৰৰ নিয়ম-চন্দুক আমি নিজৰ ওচৰলৈ উভটাই আনোহঁক, কাৰণ চৌলৰ ৰাজত্বৰ সময়ত আমি তাৰ বিষয়ে কোনো বিচাৰ কৰা নাছিলোঁ।”
because we want to bring the Sacred Chest of our God back to us. While Saul [was the king], we did not go to God’s presence to ask him what we should do.”
All the people agreed with David, because they all thought that it was the right thing to do.
5 ৫ সেয়ে কিৰিয়ৎ-যিয়াৰীমৰ পৰা ঈশ্বৰৰ নিয়ম-চন্দুক আনিবলৈ, দায়ূদে মিচৰ দেশৰ চীহোৰ নদীৰ পৰা লেবো সীমালৈকে ইস্ৰায়েলী লোকসকলক একগোট কৰিলে।
So David gathered all the Israeli people, from the Shihor [River] in Egypt to Lebo-Hamath [town in the north, and told them that he wanted them] to [help] bring the Sacred Chest of God [back to Jerusalem] from Kiriath-Jearim [city].
6 ৬ ঈশ্বৰৰ নামেৰে প্ৰখ্যাত হোৱা, কৰূব দুটাৰ মাজত বহা ঈশ্বৰৰ নিয়ম-চন্দুক যিহূদাৰ অধীনত থকা বালা অৰ্থাৎ কিৰিয়ৎ-যিয়াৰীমৰ পৰা আনিবলৈ দায়ুদ আৰু ইস্ৰায়েলৰ সকলো লোক সেই ঠাইলৈ গ’ল।
David went with all the Israeli people to Baalah [town], which is [another name for] Kiriath-Jearim, to get the Sacred Chest. [The people believed that] God ruled from between the statues of winged creatures that was above the lid of the Sacred Chest [MTY].
7 ৭ সেয়ে তেওঁলোকে অবীনাদবৰ ঘৰৰ পৰা ঈশ্বৰৰ নিয়ম-চন্দুক উলিয়াই আনিলে আৰু এখন নতুন ৰথত তুলিলে। উজ্জা আৰু অহিয়ো সেই ৰথৰ পথ প্রদৰ্শক হ’ল।
The people put the Sacred Chest on a new cart and transported it from Abinadab’s house. Uzzah and Ahio were guiding [the oxen that were pulling the cart].
8 ৮ দায়ুদ আৰু ইস্রায়েলৰ লোকসকলে বীণা, বেহেলা, খঞ্জৰী, তাল, আৰু তূৰী বাদ্যেৰে গীত-গান কৰি ঈশ্বৰৰ উদ্দেশে উৎসৱ উদযাপন কৰিলে।
David and all the Israeli people were celebrating in God’s presence with all their strength. They were singing and [playing] lyres, harps, tambourines, and cymbals, and [blowing] trumpets.
9 ৯ যেতিয়া তেওঁলোকে কীদোনৰ ধান মৰণা মৰা ঠাই পালে, তেতিয়া ষাঁড়-গৰুহালে উজুটি খোৱাত উজ্জাই নিয়ম-চন্দুকটো হাত মেলি থাপমাৰি ধৰিলে।
But when David’s men came to the place where Kidon threshed grain, the oxen stumbled. So Uzzah reached out with his hand to prevent the Sacred Chest from falling off the cart.
10 ১০ উজ্জালৈ যিহোৱাৰ ক্ৰোধ প্ৰজ্বলিত হ’ল, আৰু তেওঁক বধ কৰিলে, কাৰণ তেওঁ নিয়ম-চন্দুক ধৰিবলৈ হাত মেলিছিল। সেই ঠাইতেই ঈশ্বৰৰ সন্মুখত তেওঁৰ মৃত্যু হ’ল।
Yahweh immediately became very angry with Uzzah, and he caused Uzzah to suddenly die there because he had put his hand on the Sacred Chest, [and Yahweh had commanded that only the descendants of Levi who help the priests should touch the Sacred Chest].
David was angry because Yahweh had punished [MTY] Uzzah. And now that place [where Uzzah died] is called ‘The Punishment of Uzzah’.
That day, David was afraid of God. He asked [himself], “(How can I bring God’s Sacred Chest to my [city]?/I am afraid to bring God’s Sacred Chest to my [city].)” [RHQ]
13 ১৩ সেয়ে দায়ূদে নিয়ম-চন্দুক দায়ূদৰ নগৰলৈ নানিলে কিন্তু একাষৰিয়াকৈ লৈ গ’ল আৰু গাতীয়াৰ ওবেদ-ইদোমৰ ঘৰত থলে।
So the men with David did not take the Sacred Chest to Jerusalem. Instead, they took it to the house of Obed-Edom, who was from Gath [city].
14 ১৪ ঈশ্বৰৰ সেই নিয়ম-চন্দুক ওবেদ-ইদোমৰ পৰিয়ালবৰ্গৰ সৈতে তেওঁৰ ঘৰত তিনি মাহ থাকিল। সেয়ে যিহোৱাই তেওঁৰ ঘৰ আৰু তেওঁৰ অধিকাৰত থকা সকলোকে আশীৰ্ব্বাদ কৰিলে।
The Sacred Chest stayed with Obed-Edom’s family in his house for three months. And [during that time] Yahweh blessed Obed-Edom’s family and everything that he owned.
