| ܘܐܡܪ ܗܘܐ ܠܗܘܢ ܐܡܝܢ ܐܡܪ ܐܢܐ ܠܟܘܢ ܕܐܝܬ ܐܢܫܐ ܕܩܝܡܝܢ ܬܢܢ ܕܠܐ ܢܛܥܡܘܢ ܡܘܬܐ ܥܕܡܐ ܕܢܚܙܘܢ ܡܠܟܘܬܗ ܕܐܠܗܐ ܕܐܬܬ ܒܚܝܠܐ | 1 |
And he said to them, “Truly I say to you, there are some standing here who will certainly not taste death until they see the kingdom of God come with power.”
| ܘܒܬܪ ܫܬܐ ܝܘܡܝܢ ܕܒܪ ܝܫܘܥ ܠܟܐܦܐ ܘܠܝܥܩܘܒ ܘܠܝܘܚܢܢ ܘܐܤܩ ܐܢܘܢ ܠܛܘܪܐ ܪܡܐ ܒܠܚܘܕܝܗܘܢ ܘܐܬܚܠܦ ܠܥܢܝܗܘܢ | 2 |
After six days Jesus took Peter, James, and John, and led them up on a high mountain by themselves. There he was transfigured before them.
| ܘܡܙܗܪ ܗܘܐ ܠܒܘܫܗ ܘܡܚܘܪ ܛܒ ܐܝܟ ܬܠܓܐ ܐܝܟܢܐ ܕܒܢܝ ܐܢܫܐ ܠܡܚܘܪܘ ܒܐܪܥܐ ܠܐ ܡܫܟܚܝܢ | 3 |
His garments became radiant and extremely white, like snow, such as no launderer on earth could whiten them.
| ܘܐܬܚܙܝܘ ܠܗܘܢ ܐܠܝܐ ܘܡܘܫܐ ܟܕ ܡܡܠܠܝܢ ܥܡ ܝܫܘܥ | 4 |
Then Elijah appeared to them with Moses, and they were talking with Jesus.
| ܘܐܡܪ ܠܗ ܟܐܦܐ ܪܒܝ ܫܦܝܪ ܗܘ ܠܢ ܕܗܪܟܐ ܢܗܘܐ ܘܢܥܒܕ ܬܠܬ ܡܛܠܝܢ ܠܟ ܚܕܐ ܘܠܡܘܫܐ ܚܕܐ ܘܠܐܠܝܐ ܚܕܐ | 5 |
So Peter said to Jesus, “Rabbi, it is good for us to be here. Let us make three shelters, one for yoʋ, one for Moses, and one for Elijah.”
| ܠܐ ܕܝܢ ܝܕܥ ܗܘܐ ܡܢܐ ܐܡܪ ܐܝܬܝܗܘܢ ܗܘܘ ܓܝܪ ܒܕܚܠܬܐ | 6 |
(For they were terrified, and he did not know what to say.)
| ܘܗܘܬ ܥܢܢܐ ܘܡܛܠܐ ܗܘܬ ܥܠܝܗܘܢ ܘܩܠܐ ܡܢ ܥܢܢܐ ܕܐܡܪ ܗܢܘ ܒܪܝ ܚܒܝܒܐ ܠܗ ܫܡܥܘ | 7 |
Then a cloud came and overshadowed them, and a voice came from the cloud: “This is my beloved Son; listen to him!”
| ܘܡܢ ܫܠܝܐ ܟܕ ܚܪܘ ܬܠܡܝܕܐ ܠܐܢܫ ܠܐ ܚܙܘ ܐܠܐ ܠܝܫܘܥ ܒܠܚܘܕܘܗܝ ܥܡܗܘܢ | 8 |
And suddenly, when they looked around, they no longer saw anyone with them but Jesus.
| ܘܟܕ ܢܚܬܝܢ ܡܢ ܛܘܪܐ ܡܦܩܕ ܗܘܐ ܠܗܘܢ ܕܠܐܢܫ ܠܐ ܢܐܡܪܘܢ ܡܕܡ ܕܚܙܘ ܐܠܐ ܐܢ ܡܐ ܕܩܡ ܒܪܗ ܕܐܢܫܐ ܡܢ ܡܝܬܐ | 9 |
As they were coming down from the mountain, Jesus ordered them to tell no one what they had seen until the Son of Man had risen from the dead.
| ܘܐܚܕܘܗ ܠܡܠܬܐ ܒܢܦܫܗܘܢ ܘܒܥܝܢ ܗܘܘ ܕܡܢܐ ܗܝ ܗܕܐ ܡܠܬܐ ܕܡܐ ܕܩܡ ܡܢ ܒܝܬ ܡܝܬܐ | 10 |
So they kept the matter to themselves, discussing what this “rising from the dead” could mean.
| ܘܡܫܐܠܝܢ ܗܘܘ ܠܗ ܘܐܡܪܝܢ ܡܢܐ ܗܟܝܠ ܐܡܪܝܢ ܤܦܪܐ ܕܐܠܝܐ ܘܠܐ ܕܢܐܬܐ ܠܘܩܕܡ | 11 |
Then they asked him, “Why do the scribes say that Elijah must come first?”
| ܐܡܪ ܠܗܘܢ ܐܠܝܐ ܐܬܐ ܠܘܩܕܡ ܕܟܠܡܕܡ ܢܬܩܢ ܘܐܝܟܢܐ ܟܬܝܒ ܥܠ ܒܪܗ ܕܐܢܫܐ ܕܤܓܝ ܢܚܫ ܘܢܤܬܠܐ | 12 |
He answered them, “Elijah does indeed come first to restore all things. How then is it written that the Son of Man must suffer many things and be treated with contempt?
| ܐܠܐ ܐܡܪ ܐܢܐ ܠܟܘܢ ܕܐܦ ܐܠܝܐ ܐܬܐ ܘܥܒܕܘ ܒܗ ܟܠ ܡܐ ܕܨܒܘ ܐܝܟܢܐ ܕܟܬܝܒ ܥܠܘܗܝ | 13 |
But I tell you that Elijah has indeed come, and they did to him whatever they wanted, just as it is written about him.”
| ܘܟܕ ܐܬܐ ܠܘܬ ܬܠܡܝܕܐ ܚܙܐ ܠܘܬܗܘܢ ܟܢܫܐ ܤܓܝܐܐ ܘܤܦܪܐ ܟܕ ܕܪܫܝܢ ܥܡܗܘܢ | 14 |
When Jesus came back to the other disciples, he saw a large crowd around them, and some scribes arguing with them.
| ܘܒܪ ܫܥܬܗ ܟܠܗ ܟܢܫܐ ܚܙܐܘܗܝ ܘܬܘܗܘ ܘܪܗܛܘ ܫܐܠܘ ܒܫܠܡܗ | 15 |
When the whole crowd saw him, they were greatly amazed and immediately ran up and greeted him.
| ܘܡܫܐܠ ܗܘܐ ܠܤܦܪܐ ܡܢܐ ܕܪܫܝܢ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܥܡܗܘܢ | 16 |
Then he asked the scribes, “What are you arguing with them about?”
| ܘܥܢܐ ܚܕ ܡܢ ܟܢܫܐ ܘܐܡܪ ܡܠܦܢܐ ܐܝܬܝܬ ܒܪܝ ܠܘܬܟ ܕܐܝܬ ܠܗ ܪܘܚܐ ܕܠܐ ܡܡܠܠܐ | 17 |
One man from among the crowd answered, “Teacher, I brought yoʋ my son, who has a spirit that makes him mute.
| ܘܐܝܟܐ ܕܡܕܪܟܐ ܠܗ ܚܒܛܐ ܠܗ ܘܡܪܥܬ ܘܡܚܪܩ ܫܢܘܗܝ ܘܝܒܫ ܘܐܡܪܬ ܠܬܠܡܝܕܝܟ ܕܢܦܩܘܢܝܗܝ ܘܠܐ ܐܫܟܚܘ | 18 |
Whenever it seizes him, it throws him down, and he foams at the mouth, grinds his teeth, and becomes rigid. I asked yoʋr disciples to cast it out, but they were not able to do so.”
| ܥܢܐ ܝܫܘܥ ܘܐܡܪ ܠܗ ܐܘܢ ܫܪܒܬܐ ܕܠܐ ܡܗܝܡܢܐ ܥܕܡܐ ܠܐܡܬܝ ܐܗܘܐ ܠܘܬܟܘܢ ܘܥܕܡܐ ܠܐܡܬܝ ܐܤܝܒܪܟܘܢ ܐܝܬܐܘܗܝ ܠܘܬܝ | 19 |
Jesus answered him, “O faithless generation, how long shall I be with you? How long shall I bear with you? Bring him to me.”
| ܘܐܝܬܝܘܗܝ ܠܘܬܗ ܘܟܕ ܚܙܬܗ ܪܘܚܐ ܒܪ ܫܥܬܗ ܚܒܛܬܗ ܘܢܦܠ ܥܠ ܐܪܥܐ ܘܡܬܒܥܩ ܗܘܐ ܘܡܪܥܬ | 20 |
So they brought the boy to him. When the spirit saw Jesus, it immediately threw the boy into convulsions, and he fell on the ground and rolled around, foaming at the mouth.
| ܘܫܐܠ ܝܫܘܥ ܠܐܒܘܗܝ ܕܟܡܐ ܠܗ ܙܒܢܐ ܗܐ ܡܢ ܕܗܟܢܐ ܗܘ ܐܡܪ ܠܗ ܗܐ ܡܢ ܛܠܝܘܬܗ | 21 |
Then Jesus asked the boy's father, “How long has this been happening to him?” The father said, “From childhood.
| ܘܙܒܢܝܢ ܤܓܝܐܢ ܐܪܡܝܬܗ ܒܢܘܪܐ ܘܒܡܝܐ ܕܬܘܒܕܝܘܗܝ ܐܠܐ ܡܕܡ ܕܡܫܟܚ ܐܢܬ ܥܕܪܝܢܝ ܘܐܬܪܚܡ ܥܠܝ | 22 |
It often throws him into the fire and into the water, to destroy him. But if yoʋ are able to do anything, help us and have compassion on us.”
| ܐܡܪ ܠܗ ܝܫܘܥ ܐܢ ܡܫܟܚ ܐܢܬ ܕܬܗܝܡܢ ܟܠ ܡܕܡ ܡܫܟܚ ܕܢܗܘܐ ܠܡܢ ܕܡܗܝܡܢ | 23 |
Jesus said to him, “The question is whether yoʋ are able to believe. All things are possible for the one who believes.”
| ܘܒܪ ܫܥܬܗ ܩܥܐ ܐܒܘܗܝ ܕܛܠܝܐ ܟܕ ܒܟܐ ܘܐܡܪ ܡܗܝܡܢ ܐܢܐ ܡܪܝ ܥܕܪ ܠܚܤܝܪܘܬ ܗܝܡܢܘܬܝ | 24 |
Immediately the child's father cried out and said with tears, “I believe, Lord; help my unbelief!”
| ܟܕ ܚܙܐ ܕܝܢ ܝܫܘܥ ܕܪܗܛ ܥܡܐ ܘܡܬܟܢܫ ܠܘܬܗ ܟܐܐ ܒܗܝ ܪܘܚܐ ܛܢܦܬܐ ܘܐܡܪ ܠܗ ܪܘܚܐ ܚܪܫܬܐ ܕܠܐ ܡܡܠܠܐ ܐܢܐ ܦܩܕ ܐܢܐ ܠܟܝ ܦܘܩܝ ܡܢܗ ܘܬܘܒ ܠܐ ܬܥܠܝܢ ܠܗ | 25 |
When Jesus saw that a crowd came running together, he rebuked the unclean spirit and said to it, “Yoʋ spirit that makes this boy mute and deaf, I command yoʋ, come out of him and never enter him again!”
| ܘܩܥܐ ܫܐܕܐ ܗܘ ܤܓܝ ܘܫܚܩܗ ܘܢܦܩ ܘܗܘܐ ܐܝܟ ܡܝܬܐ ܐܝܟ ܕܤܓܝܐܐ ܢܐܡܪܘܢ ܕܡܝܬ ܠܗ | 26 |
After crying out, the spirit convulsed the boy greatly and came out, and the boy became as though he were dead, so that many said, “He is dead!”
| ܗܘ ܕܝܢ ܝܫܘܥ ܐܚܕܗ ܒܐܝܕܗ ܘܐܩܝܡܗ | 27 |
But Jesus took him by the hand and raised him up, and the boy arose.
| ܟܕ ܥܠ ܕܝܢ ܠܒܝܬܐ ܝܫܘܥ ܫܐܠܘܗܝ ܬܠܡܝܕܘܗܝ ܒܠܚܘܕܝܗܘܢ ܠܡܢܐ ܚܢܢ ܠܐ ܐܫܟܚܢ ܠܡܦܩܘܬܗ | 28 |
Now when Jesus came into the house, his disciples asked him privately, “Why could we not cast it out?”
| ܐܡܪ ܠܗܘܢ ܗܢܐ ܓܢܤܐ ܒܡܕܡ ܠܐ ܡܫܟܚ ܠܡܦܩ ܐܠܐ ܒܨܘܡܐ ܘܒܨܠܘܬܐ | 29 |
He said to them, “This kind cannot come out by anything except prayer and fasting.”
| ܘܟܕ ܢܦܩ ܡܢ ܬܡܢ ܥܒܪܝܢ ܗܘܘ ܒܓܠܝܠܐ ܘܠܐ ܨܒܐ ܗܘܐ ܕܐܢܫ ܢܕܥ ܒܗ | 30 |
Then they went away from there and passed through Galilee, but Jesus did not want anyone to know it.
| ܡܠܦ ܗܘܐ ܓܝܪ ܠܬܠܡܝܕܘܗܝ ܘܐܡܪ ܠܗܘܢ ܕܒܪܗ ܕܐܢܫܐ ܡܫܬܠܡ ܒܐܝܕܝ ܐܢܫܐ ܘܢܩܛܠܘܢܝܗܝ ܘܡܐ ܕܐܬܩܛܠ ܒܝܘܡܐ ܕܬܠܬܐ ܢܩܘܡ | 31 |
For he was teaching his disciples and telling them, “The Son of Man is going to be delivered up into the hands of men, and they will kill him. Yet after he has been killed, he will rise on the third day.”
| ܗܢܘܢ ܕܝܢ ܠܐ ܝܕܥܝܢ ܗܘܘ ܠܗ ܠܡܠܬܐ ܘܕܚܠܝܢ ܗܘܘ ܕܢܫܐܠܘܢܝܗܝ | 32 |
But they did not understand what this meant, and they were afraid to ask him about it.
| ܘܐܬܘ ܠܟܦܪܢܚܘܡ ܘܟܕ ܥܠܘ ܠܒܝܬܐ ܡܫܐܠ ܗܘܐ ܠܗܘܢ ܕܡܢܐ ܡܬܚܫܒܝܢ ܗܘܝܬܘܢ ܒܐܘܪܚܐ ܒܝܢܬܟܘܢ | 33 |
Then Jesus came to Capernaum, and when he was in the house, he asked the disciples, “What were you discussing among yourselves on the way?”
| ܗܢܘܢ ܕܝܢ ܫܬܝܩܝܢ ܗܘܘ ܐܬܚܪܝܘ ܗܘܘ ܓܝܪ ܒܐܘܪܚܐ ܚܕ ܥܡ ܚܕ ܕܡܢܘ ܪܒ ܒܗܘܢ | 34 |
But they were silent, because on the way they had been arguing with one another about who was greater.
| ܘܝܬܒ ܝܫܘܥ ܘܩܪܐ ܠܬܪܥܤܪ ܘܐܡܪ ܠܗܘܢ ܡܢ ܕܨܒܐ ܕܢܗܘܐ ܩܕܡܝܐ ܢܗܘܐ ܐܚܪܝܐ ܕܟܠ ܐܢܫ ܘܡܫܡܫܢܐ ܕܟܠ ܐܢܫ | 35 |
So Jesus sat down, called the twelve over, and said to them, “If anyone wants to be first, he must be last of all and a servant to all.”
| ܘܢܤܒ ܛܠܝܐ ܚܕ ܘܐܩܝܡܗ ܒܡܨܥܬܐ ܘܫܩܠܗ ܥܠ ܕܪܥܘܗܝ ܘܐܡܪ ܠܗܘܢ | 36 |
Then he took a child and placed him before them. And taking the child in his arms, he said to them,
| ܟܠ ܡܢ ܕܢܩܒܠ ܐܝܟ ܗܢܐ ܛܠܝܐ ܒܫܡܝ ܠܝ ܗܘ ܡܩܒܠ ܘܡܢ ܕܠܝ ܡܩܒܠ ܠܐ ܗܘܐ ܠܝ ܡܩܒܠ ܐܠܐ ܠܡܢ ܕܫܕܪܢܝ | 37 |
“Whoever receives one child such as this in my name receives me; and whoever receives me, receives not me, but him who sent me.”
| ܐܡܪ ܠܗ ܝܘܚܢܢ ܪܒܝ ܚܙܝܢ ܐܢܫ ܕܡܦܩ ܫܐܕܐ ܒܫܡܟ ܘܟܠܝܢܝܗܝ ܥܠ ܕܠܐ ܢܩܦ ܠܢ | 38 |
John said to him in response, “Teacher, we saw someone who does not follow us casting out demons in yoʋr name, and we told him to stop because he does not follow us.”
| ܐܡܪ ܠܗܘܢ ܝܫܘܥ ܠܐ ܬܟܠܘܢܝܗܝ ܠܝܬ ܓܝܪ ܐܢܫ ܕܥܒܕ ܚܝܠܐ ܒܫܡܝ ܘܡܫܟܚ ܥܓܠ ܐܡܪ ܥܠܝ ܕܒܝܫ | 39 |
But Jesus said, “Do not stop him, for no one who does a miracle in my name will be able to speak evil of me soon afterward.
| ܡܢ ܕܠܐ ܗܘܐ ܗܟܝܠ ܠܘܩܒܠܟܘܢ ܚܠܦܝܟܘܢ ܗܘ | 40 |
For whoever is not against you is for you.
| ܟܠ ܕܝܢ ܕܢܫܩܝܟܘܢ ܟܤܐ ܕܡܝܐ ܒܠܚܘܕ ܒܫܡܐ ܕܕܡܫܝܚܐ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܐܡܝܢ ܐܡܪ ܐܢܐ ܠܟܘܢ ܕܠܐ ܢܘܒܕ ܐܓܪܗ | 41 |
Truly I say to you, whoever gives you a cup of water to drink in my name, because you belong to Christ, will certainly not lose his reward.
| ܘܟܠ ܡܢ ܕܢܟܫܠ ܠܚܕ ܡܢ ܗܠܝܢ ܙܥܘܪܐ ܕܡܗܝܡܢܝܢ ܒܝ ܦܩܚ ܗܘܐ ܠܗ ܐܠܘ ܪܡܝܐ ܗܘܬ ܪܚܝܐ ܕܚܡܪܐ ܒܨܘܪܗ ܘܫܕܐ ܒܝܡܐ | 42 |
“If anyone causes one of these little ones who believe in me to stumble, it would be better for him if a millstone were hung around his neck and he were thrown into the sea.
| ܐܢ ܕܝܢ ܡܟܫܠܐ ܠܟ ܐܝܕܟ ܦܤܘܩܝܗ ܦܩܚ ܗܘ ܠܟ ܦܫܝܓܐ ܕܬܥܘܠ ܠܚܝܐ ܐܘ ܟܕ ܐܝܬ ܠܟ ܬܪܬܝܢ ܐܝܕܝܢ ܬܐܙܠ ܠܓܗܢܐ (Geenna g1067) | 43 |
If yoʋr hand causes yoʋ to stumble, cut it off. It is better for yoʋ to enter life crippled than to have two hands and go into hell, into the unquenchable fire, (Geenna g1067)
| ܐܝܟܐ ܕܬܘܠܥܗܘܢ ܠܐ ܡܝܬܐ ܘܢܘܪܗܘܢ ܠܐ ܕܥܟܐ | 44 |
‘where their worm does not die and the fire is not quenched.’
| ܘܐܢ ܪܓܠܟ ܡܟܫܠܐ ܠܟ ܦܤܘܩܝܗ ܦܩܚ ܗܘ ܠܟ ܕܬܥܘܠ ܠܚܝܐ ܚܓܝܤܐ ܐܘ ܟܕ ܐܝܬ ܠܟ ܬܪܬܝܢ ܪܓܠܝܢ ܬܦܠ ܒܓܗܢܐ (Geenna g1067) | 45 |
And if yoʋr foot causes yoʋ to stumble, cut it off. It is better for yoʋ to enter life lame than to have two feet and be thrown into hell, into the unquenchable fire, (Geenna g1067)
| ܐܝܟܐ ܕܬܘܠܥܗܘܢ ܠܐ ܡܝܬܐ ܘܢܘܪܗܘܢ ܠܐ ܕܥܟܐ | 46 |
‘where their worm does not die and the fire is not quenched.’
| ܘܐܢ ܥܝܢܟ ܡܟܫܠܐ ܠܟ ܚܨܝܗ ܦܩܚ ܗܘ ܠܟ ܕܒܚܕܐ ܥܝܢܟ ܬܥܘܠ ܠܡܠܟܘܬܗ ܕܐܠܗܐ ܐܘ ܟܕ ܐܝܬ ܠܟ ܬܪܬܝܢ ܥܝܢܝܢ ܬܦܠ ܒܓܗܢܐ ܕܢܘܪܐ (Geenna g1067) | 47 |
And if yoʋr eye causes yoʋ to stumble, tear it out. It is better for yoʋ to enter the kingdom of God with one eye than to have two eyes and be thrown into the fires of hell, (Geenna g1067)
| ܐܝܟܐ ܕܬܘܠܥܗܘܢ ܠܐ ܡܝܬܐ ܘܢܘܪܗܘܢ ܠܐ ܕܥܟܐ | 48 |
‘where their worm does not die and the fire is not quenched.’
| ܟܠ ܓܝܪ ܒܢܘܪܐ ܢܬܡܠܚ ܘܟܠ ܕܒܚܬܐ ܒܡܠܚܐ ܬܬܡܠܚ | 49 |
For everyone will be salted with fire, and every sacrifice will be seasoned with salt.
| ܫܦܝܪܐ ܗܝ ܡܠܚܐ ܐܢ ܕܝܢ ܡܠܚܐ ܬܦܟܗ ܒܡܢܐ ܬܬܡܠܚ ܬܗܘܐ ܒܟܘܢ ܡܠܚܐ ܘܒܫܝܢܐ ܗܘܘ ܚܕ ܥܡ ܚܕ | 50 |
Salt is good, but if it becomes unsalty, with what shall you season it? Have salt in yourselves, and be at peace with one another.”
