ܡܪܩܘܣ 5
| ܘܐܬܐ ܠܥܒܪܐ ܕܝܡܐ ܠܐܬܪܐ ܕܓܕܪܝܐ | 1 |
And they came to the opposite side of the sea, into the country of the Gadarenes.
| ܘܟܕ ܢܦܩ ܡܢ ܤܦܝܢܬܐ ܦܓܥ ܒܗ ܡܢ ܒܝܬ ܩܒܘܪܐ ܓܒܪܐ ܕܐܝܬ ܒܗ ܪܘܚܐ ܛܢܦܬܐ | 2 |
And when he had come out of the ship, immediately there met him from the tombs a man with an unclean spirit,
| ܘܥܡܪ ܗܘܐ ܒܝܬ ܩܒܘܪܐ ܘܒܫܫܠܬܐ ܐܢܫ ܠܐ ܡܫܟܚ ܗܘܐ ܠܡܐܤܪܗ | 3 |
who had his dwelling among the tombs; and no one could keep him bound even with chains;
| ܡܛܠ ܕܟܠ ܐܡܬܝ ܕܒܤܘܛܡܐ ܘܒܫܫܠܬܐ ܡܬܐܤܪ ܗܘܐ ܫܫܠܬܐ ܡܬܒܪ ܗܘܐ ܘܤܘܛܡܐ ܡܦܤܩ ܗܘܐ ܘܠܐ ܐܢܫ ܡܫܟܚ ܗܘܐ ܠܡܟܒܫܗ | 4 |
because he had often been bound with fetters and chains, and the chains had been pulled to pieces by him, and the fetters had been broken, and no one had strength to subdue him;
| ܘܒܟܠ ܙܒܢ ܒܠܠܝܐ ܘܒܐܝܡܡܐ ܒܒܝܬ ܩܒܘܪܐ ܘܒܛܘܪܐ ܐܝܬܘܗܝ ܗܘܐ ܘܩܥܐ ܗܘܐ ܘܡܨܠܦ ܢܦܫܗ ܒܟܐܦܐ | 5 |
and always, night and day, he was in the tombs, and in the mountains, crying out, and cutting himself with stones.
| ܟܕ ܚܙܐ ܕܝܢ ܠܝܫܘܥ ܡܢ ܪܘܚܩܐ ܪܗܛ ܤܓܕ ܠܗ | 6 |
And when he saw Jesus at a distance, he ran and did him homage;
| ܘܩܥܐ ܒܩܠܐ ܪܡܐ ܘܐܡܪ ܡܐ ܠܝ ܘܠܟ ܝܫܘܥ ܒܪܗ ܕܐܠܗܐ ܡܪܝܡܐ ܡܘܡܐ ܐܢܐ ܠܟ ܒܐܠܗܐ ܕܠܐ ܬܫܢܩܢܝ | 7 |
and crying out with a loud voice, he said: What have I to do with thee, Jesus, Son of God Most High? I adjure thee by God, that thou torment me not.
| ܐܡܪ ܗܘܐ ܠܗ ܓܝܪ ܦܘܩ ܡܢ ܒܪܢܫܐ ܪܘܚܐ ܛܢܦܐ | 8 |
For he had said to him: Unclean spirit, come out of the man.
| ܘܫܐܠܗ ܐܝܟܢܐ ܫܡܟ ܐܡܪ ܠܗ ܠܓܝܘܢ ܫܡܢ ܡܛܠ ܕܤܓܝܐܐ ܚܢܢ | 9 |
And he asked him: What is your name? And he said to him: My name is Legion; for we are many.
| ܘܒܥܐ ܗܘܐ ܡܢܗ ܤܓܝ ܕܠܐ ܢܫܕܪܝܘܗܝ ܠܒܪ ܡܢ ܐܬܪܐ | 10 |
And he earnestly besought him that he would not send them out of the country.
| ܐܝܬ ܗܘܐ ܕܝܢ ܬܡܢ ܠܘܬ ܛܘܪܐ ܒܩܪܐ ܪܒܬܐ ܕܚܙܝܪܐ ܕܪܥܝܐ | 11 |
Now a great herd of swine was feeding there near the mountain.
| ܘܒܥܝܢ ܗܘܘ ܡܢܗ ܗܢܘܢ ܫܐܕܐ ܘܐܡܪܝܢ ܫܕܪܝܢ ܥܠ ܗܢܘܢ ܚܙܝܪܐ ܕܒܗܘܢ ܢܥܘܠ | 12 |
And the demons besought him, saying: Send us to the swine, that we may enter into them.
| ܘܐܦܤ ܠܗܘܢ ܘܢܦܩ ܪܘܚܐ ܗܠܝܢ ܛܢܦܬܐ ܘܥܠ ܒܚܙܝܪܐ ܘܪܗܛܬ ܗܝ ܒܩܪܐ ܠܫܩܝܦܐ ܘܢܦܠܬ ܒܝܡܐ ܐܝܟ ܬܪܝܢ ܐܠܦܝܢ ܘܐܬܚܢܩܘ ܒܡܝܐ | 13 |
And Jesus immediately gave them leave. And the unclean spirits came out and entered into the swine; and the herd (they were about two thousand, ) rushed down a steep place into the sea, and were strangled in the sea.
| ܘܗܢܘܢ ܕܪܥܝܢ ܗܘܘ ܠܗܘܢ ܥܪܩܘ ܘܐܡܪܘ ܒܡܕܝܢܬܐ ܘܐܦ ܒܩܘܪܝܐ ܘܢܦܩܘ ܠܡܚܙܐ ܡܕܡ ܕܗܘܐ | 14 |
And those who fed them fled, and told it in the city, and in the country. And they came out to see what had been done;
| ܘܐܬܘ ܠܘܬ ܝܫܘܥ ܘܚܙܐܘܗܝ ܠܗܘ ܕܫܐܕܘܗܝ ܟܕ ܠܒܝܫ ܘܡܢܟܦ ܘܝܬܒ ܗܘ ܕܐܝܬ ܗܘܐ ܒܗ ܠܓܝܘܢ ܘܕܚܠܘ | 15 |
and they came to Jesus and saw the demoniac, who had had the legion, sitting, and clothed, and in his right mind: and they were afraid.
| ܘܐܫܬܥܝܘ ܠܗܘܢ ܗܢܘܢ ܕܚܙܘ ܕܐܝܟܢܐ ܗܘܐ ܠܗܘ ܕܫܐܕܘܗܝ ܘܐܦ ܥܠ ܗܢܘܢ ܚܙܝܪܐ | 16 |
And those who had seen it told them how it had happened to the demoniac, and also concerning the swine.
| ܘܫܪܝܘ ܒܥܝܢ ܡܢܗ ܕܢܐܙܠ ܠܗ ܡܢ ܬܚܘܡܗܘܢ | 17 |
And they began to beseech him to depart from their borders.
| ܘܟܕ ܤܠܩ ܠܤܦܝܢܬܐ ܒܥܐ ܗܘܐ ܡܢܗ ܗܘ ܕܫܐܕܘܗܝ ܕܥܡܗ ܢܗܘܐ | 18 |
And when he had entered the ship, he that had been possessed with the demons besought him that he might be with him.
| ܘܠܐ ܫܒܩܗ ܐܠܐ ܐܡܪ ܠܗ ܙܠ ܠܒܝܬܟ ܠܘܬ ܐܢܫܝܟ ܘܐܫܬܥܐ ܠܗܘܢ ܡܕܡ ܕܥܒܕ ܠܟ ܡܪܝܐ ܘܕܐܬܪܚܡ ܥܠܝܟ | 19 |
And he did not permit him, but said to him: Go home to your relatives, and make known to them what things the Lord has done for you, and that he has had compassion on you.
| ܘܐܙܠ ܘܫܪܝ ܡܟܪܙ ܒܥܤܪܬ ܡܕܝܢܬܐ ܡܕܡ ܕܥܒܕ ܠܗ ܝܫܘܥ ܘܟܠܗܘܢ ܬܡܝܗܝܢ ܗܘܘ | 20 |
And he went away and began to proclaim in Decapolis what things Jesus had done for him. And all were astonished.
| ܘܟܕ ܥܒܪ ܝܫܘܥ ܒܤܦܝܢܬܐ ܠܗܘ ܥܒܪܐ ܬܘܒ ܐܬܟܢܫܘ ܥܠܘܗܝ ܟܢܫܐ ܤܓܝܐܐ ܟܕ ܐܝܬܘܗܝ ܥܠ ܝܕ ܝܡܐ | 21 |
And when Jesus had again gone over in the ship to the opposite side, a great multitude came together to him; and he was near the sea.
| ܘܐܬܐ ܚܕ ܕܫܡܗ ܝܘܐܪܫ ܡܢ ܪܒܝ ܟܢܘܫܬܐ ܘܟܕ ܚܙܝܗܝ ܢܦܠ ܠܘܬ ܪܓܠܘܗܝ | 22 |
And behold, there came one of the rulers of the synagogue, named Jairus; and when he saw him, he fell at his feet,
| ܘܒܥܐ ܗܘܐ ܡܢܗ ܤܓܝ ܘܐܡܪ ܠܗ ܒܪܬܝ ܒܝܫܐܝܬ ܥܒܝܕܐ ܬܐ ܤܝܡ ܐܝܕܟ ܥܠܝܗ ܘܬܬܚܠܡ ܘܬܚܐ | 23 |
and besought him earnestly, saying: My little daughter is at the point of death; come, lay thy hands on her, that she may be saved, and she will live.
| ܘܐܙܠ ܥܡܗ ܝܫܘܥ ܘܕܒܝܩ ܗܘܐ ܠܗ ܟܢܫܐ ܤܓܝܐܐ ܘܚܒܨܝܢ ܗܘܘ ܠܗ | 24 |
And he went with him; and a great multitude followed him, and pressed upon him.
| ܐܢܬܬܐ ܕܝܢ ܚܕܐ ܕܐܝܬܝܗ ܗܘܬ ܒܡܪܕܝܬܐ ܕܕܡܐ ܫܢܝܢ ܬܪܬܥܤܪܐ | 25 |
And a certain woman who had had an issue of blood for twelve years,
| ܐܝܕܐ ܕܤܓܝ ܤܒܠܬ ܡܢ ܐܤܘܬܐ ܤܓܝܐܐ ܘܐܦܩܬ ܟܠ ܡܕܡ ܕܐܝܬ ܠܗ ܘܡܕܡ ܠܐ ܐܬܥܕܪܬ ܐܠܐ ܐܦ ܝܬܝܪܐܝܬ ܐܬܐܠܨܬ | 26 |
and had suffered much from many physicians, and had spent all that she had, and was in no way benefited, but rather grew worse,
| ܟܕ ܫܡܥܬ ܥܠ ܝܫܘܥ ܐܬܬ ܒܚܒܨܐ ܕܟܢܫܐ ܡܢ ܒܤܬܪܗ ܩܪܒܬ ܠܠܒܘܫܗ | 27 |
when she heard of Jesus, came behind him in the multitude, and touched his mantle;
| ܐܡܪܐ ܗܘܬ ܓܝܪ ܕܐܦܢ ܠܠܒܘܫܗ ܩܪܒܐ ܐܢܐ ܚܝܐ ܐܢܐ | 28 |
for she said: If I may even touch his clothes, I shall be saved.
| ܘܡܚܕܐ ܝܒܫܬ ܡܥܝܢܐ ܕܕܡܗ ܘܐܪܓܫܬ ܒܦܓܪܗ ܕܐܬܐܤܝܬ ܡܢ ܡܚܘܬܗ | 29 |
And immediately the fountain of her blood dried up, and she knew in her body that she was cured of that plague.
| ܝܫܘܥ ܕܝܢ ܡܚܕܐ ܝܕܥ ܒܢܦܫܗ ܕܚܝܠܐ ܢܦܩ ܡܢܗ ܘܐܬܦܢܝ ܠܘܬ ܟܢܫܐ ܘܐܡܪ ܡܢܘ ܩܪܒ ܠܡܐܢܝ | 30 |
And Jesus, immediately perceiving in himself that power had gone forth from him, turned around in the multitude and said: Who touched my clothes?
| ܘܐܡܪܝܢ ܠܗ ܬܠܡܝܕܘܗܝ ܚܙܐ ܐܢܬ ܠܟܢܫܐ ܕܚܒܨܝܢ ܠܟ ܘܐܡܪ ܐܢܬ ܡܢܘ ܩܪܒ ܠܝ | 31 |
And his disciples said to him: Thou seest the multitude pressing upon thee, and dost thou say, Who touched me?
| ܘܚܐܪ ܗܘܐ ܕܢܚܙܐ ܡܢܘ ܗܕܐ ܥܒܕ | 32 |
And he looked around to see her that had done this.
| ܗܝ ܕܝܢ ܐܢܬܬܐ ܟܕ ܕܚܝܠܐ ܘܪܬܝܬܐ ܕܝܕܥܬ ܡܐ ܕܗܘܐ ܠܗ ܐܬܬ ܢܦܠܬ ܩܕܡܘܗܝ ܘܐܡܪܬ ܠܗ ܟܠܗ ܫܪܪܐ | 33 |
But the woman, fearing and trembling, knowing; what had been done within her, came and fell down before him; and told him all the truth.
| ܗܘ ܕܝܢ ܐܡܪ ܠܗ ܒܪܬܝ ܗܝܡܢܘܬܟܝ ܐܚܝܬܟܝ ܙܠܝ ܒܫܠܡܐ ܘܗܘܝܬܝ ܚܠܝܡܐ ܡܢ ܡܚܘܬܟܝ | 34 |
And he said to her: Daughter, your faith has saved you; go in peace, and be cured of your plague.
| ܘܥܕ ܗܘ ܡܡܠܠ ܐܬܘ ܡܢ ܕܒܝܬ ܪܒ ܟܢܘܫܬܐ ܘܐܡܪܝܢ ܕܒܪܬܟ ܡܝܬܬ ܠܡܢܐ ܡܟܝܠ ܡܥܡܠ ܐܢܬ ܠܡܠܦܢܐ | 35 |
While he was yet speaking, some came from the ruler of the synagogue, who said: Your daughter is dead; why give the Teacher further trouble?
| ܝܫܘܥ ܕܝܢ ܫܡܥ ܠܡܠܬܐ ܕܐܡܪܘ ܘܐܡܪ ܠܗܘ ܪܒ ܟܢܘܫܬܐ ܠܐ ܬܕܚܠ ܒܠܚܘܕ ܗܝܡܢ | 36 |
But as soon as Jesus heard what was spoken, he said to the ruler of the synagogue: Fear not, only believe.
| ܘܠܐ ܫܒܩ ܠܐܢܫ ܕܢܐܙܠ ܥܡܗ ܐܠܐ ܠܫܡܥܘܢ ܟܐܦܐ ܘܠܝܥܩܘܒ ܘܠܝܘܚܢܢ ܐܚܘܗܝ ܕܝܥܩܘܒ | 37 |
And he suffered no one to follow him, except Peter and James and John the brother of James.
| ܘܐܬܘ ܠܒܝܬܐ ܕܗܘ ܪܒ ܟܢܘܫܬܐ ܘܚܙܐ ܕܪܗܝܒܝܢ ܘܒܟܝܢ ܘܡܝܠܠܝܢ | 38 |
And he came to the house of the ruler of the synagogue, and saw the tumult, and those who were weeping and wailing greatly.
| ܘܥܠ ܘܐܡܪ ܠܗܘܢ ܡܢܐ ܪܗܝܒܝܢ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܘܒܟܝܢ ܛܠܝܬܐ ܠܐ ܡܝܬܬ ܐܠܐ ܕܡܟܐ ܗܝ | 39 |
And he went in and said to them: Why do you make a tumult and weep? The child is not dead, but sleeps.
| ܘܓܚܟܝܢ ܗܘܘ ܥܠܘܗܝ ܗܘ ܕܝܢ ܐܦܩ ܠܟܠܗܘܢ ܘܕܒܪ ܠܐܒܘܗ ܕܛܠܝܬܐ ܘܠܐܡܗ ܘܠܗܢܘܢ ܕܥܡܗ ܘܥܠ ܠܐܝܟܐ ܕܪܡܝܐ ܗܘܬ ܛܠܝܬܐ | 40 |
And they derided him. But when he had put them all out, he took the father and mother of the child, and those who were with him, and went in where the child was lying.
| ܘܐܚܕ ܒܐܝܕܗ ܕܛܠܝܬܐ ܘܐܡܪ ܠܗ ܛܠܝܬܐ ܩܘܡܝ | 41 |
And he took the child by the hand, and said to her: Talitha kumi; which is, when translated, Maiden, (I say to you, ) arise.
| ܘܒܪ ܫܥܬܗ ܩܡܬ ܛܠܝܬܐ ܘܡܗܠܟܐ ܗܘܬ ܐܝܬܝܗ ܗܘܬ ܓܝܪ ܒܪܬ ܫܢܝܢ ܬܪܬܥܤܪܐ ܘܡܬܕܡܪܝܢ ܗܘܘ ܕܘܡܪܐ ܪܒܐ | 42 |
And the maiden immediately arose and walked, for she was twelve years old. And they were greatly astonished.
| ܘܦܩܕ ܐܢܘܢ ܤܓܝ ܕܠܐ ܐܢܫ ܢܕܥ ܗܕܐ ܘܐܡܪ ܕܢܬܠܘܢ ܠܗ ܠܡܠܥܤ | 43 |
And he charged them strictly that no one should know this. And he commanded that something should be given her to eat.
