ܐ-ܛܝܡܬܐܘܣ 1

1 ܦܘܠܘܤ ܫܠܝܚܐ ܕܝܫܘܥ ܡܫܝܚܐ ܒܦܘܩܕܢܐ ܕܐܠܗܐ ܡܚܝܢܢ ܘܕܡܫܝܚܐ ܝܫܘܥ ܤܒܪܢ

Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ, according to the appointment of God our Savior, and the Lord Jesus Christ our hope,

2 ܠܛܝܡܬܐܘܤ ܒܪܐ ܫܪܝܪܐ ܒܗܝܡܢܘܬܐ ܛܝܒܘܬܐ ܘܪܚܡܐ ܘܫܠܡܐ ܡܢ ܐܠܗܐ ܐܒܘܢ ܘܡܫܝܚܐ ܝܫܘܥ ܡܪܢ

to Timothy, my true son in the faith; grace, mercy, peace from God our Father, and Christ Jesus our Lord.

3 ܒܥܝܬ ܗܘܝܬ ܡܢܟ ܟܕ ܐܙܠ ܐܢܐ ܠܡܩܕܘܢܝܐ ܕܬܩܘܐ ܒܐܦܤܘܤ ܘܬܦܩܕ ܠܐܢܫ ܐܢܫ ܕܠܐ ܢܠܦܘܢ ܝܘܠܦܢܐ ܡܫܚܠܦܐ

As, on going into Macedonia, I besought you to remain in Ephesus, that you might charge some that they teach no other thing,

4 ܘܠܐ ܢܬܪܡܘܢ ܠܫܘܥܝܬܐ ܘܠܬܫܥܝܬܐ ܕܫܪܒܬܐ ܕܤܟܐ ܠܝܬ ܠܗܘܢ ܗܠܝܢ ܕܚܪܝܢܐ ܗܘ ܥܒܕܢ ܝܬܝܪܐܝܬ ܘܠܐ ܒܢܝܢܐ ܒܗܝܡܢܘܬܐ ܕܐܠܗܐ

nor give heed to fables and endless genealogies, which produce disputes rather than godly edification, which is in faith;

5 ܤܟܗ ܕܝܢ ܕܦܘܩܕܢܐ ܐܝܬܘܗܝ ܚܘܒܐ ܕܡܢ ܠܒܐ ܕܟܝܐ ܘܡܢ ܬܐܪܬܐ ܛܒܬܐ ܘܡܢ ܗܝܡܢܘܬܐ ܫܪܝܪܬܐ

(Now the end of the commandment is love out of a pure heart, and out of a good conscience, and out of faith unfeigned:

6 ܘܡܢܗܝܢ ܡܢ ܗܠܝܢ ܛܥܘ ܐܢܫܐ ܘܤܛܘ ܠܡܠܐ ܤܪܝܩܬܐ

which things some not having aimed at, have turned aside to idle disputation,

7 ܒܕܒܥܘ ܠܡܗܘܐ ܡܠܦܢܐ ܕܢܡܘܤܐ ܟܕ ܠܐ ܡܤܬܟܠܝܢ ܡܕܡ ܕܡܡܠܠܝܢ ܘܠܐ ܡܕܡ ܕܥܠܘܗܝ ܡܬܚܪܝܢ

desiring to be teachers of law, though understanding neither what they say nor of what they boldly affirm.

8 ܝܕܥܝܢܢ ܕܝܢ ܕܢܡܘܤܐ ܫܦܝܪ ܗܘ ܐܢ ܐܢܫ ܐܟܘܬܗ ܕܢܡܘܤܐ ܢܬܕܒܪ ܒܗ

But we know that the law is good, if any one use it lawfully;

9 ܟܕ ܝܕܥ ܕܠܟܐܢܐ ܢܡܘܤܐ ܠܐ ܤܝܡ ܐܠܐ ܠܥܘܠܐ ܘܠܡܪܘܕܐ ܘܠܪܫܝܥܐ ܘܠܚܛܝܐ ܘܠܥܢܬܐ ܘܠܐܝܠܝܢ ܕܠܐ ܕܟܝܢ ܘܠܐܝܠܝܢ ܕܡܚܝܢ ܠܐܒܗܝܗܘܢ ܘܠܐܝܠܝܢ ܕܡܚܝܢ ܠܐܡܗܬܗܘܢ ܘܠܩܛܘܠܐ

knowing this, that law is not made for a righteous man, but for the lawless and disobedient, for the ungodly and for sinners, for the unholy and for scorners, for murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, for man-slayers,

10 ܘܠܙܢܝܐ ܘܠܫܟܒܝ ܥܡ ܕܟܪܐ ܘܠܓܢܒܝ ܒܢܝ ܚܐܪܐ ܘܠܕܓܠܐ ܘܠܥܒܪܝ ܥܠ ܡܘܡܬܐ ܘܠܟܠܡܕܡ ܕܐܝܬܘܗܝ ܤܩܘܒܠܐ ܠܝܘܠܦܢܐ ܚܠܝܡܐ

for lewd persons, for sodomites, for men-stealers, for liars, for perjured persons, and for whatever other thing is opposed to sound teaching,

11 ܕܐܘܢܓܠܝܘܢ ܕܬܫܒܘܚܬܗ ܕܐܠܗܐ ܡܒܪܟܐ ܗܘ ܕܐܢܐ ܐܬܗܝܡܢܬ

according to the glorious gospel of the blessed God, which has been intrusted to me.

12 ܘܡܘܕܐ ܐܢܐ ܠܗ ܕܚܝܠܢܝ ܠܡܪܢ ܝܫܘܥ ܡܫܝܚܐ ܕܚܫܒܢܝ ܡܗܝܡܢܐ ܘܤܡܢܝ ܠܬܫܡܫܬܗ

And I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who has given me power, because he counted me faithful, and put me into the ministry;

13 ܠܝ ܕܡܢ ܩܕܝܡ ܡܓܕܦܢ ܗܘܝܬ ܘܪܕܘܦ ܘܡܨܥܪܢ ܐܠܐ ܐܬܚܢܢܬ ܡܛܠ ܕܟܕ ܠܐ ܝܕܥ ܗܘܝܬ ܥܒܕܬ ܕܠܐ ܗܝܡܢܘܬܐ

me, I say, who before was a reviler and a persecutor and an overbearing man. But I obtained mercy, because I did it ignorantly in unbelief:

14 ܤܓܝܬ ܒܝ ܕܝܢ ܛܝܒܘܬܗ ܕܡܪܢ ܘܗܝܡܢܘܬܐ ܘܚܘܒܐ ܕܒܝܫܘܥ ܡܫܝܚܐ

and the grace of our Lord was very abundant with faith, and love which is in Christ Jesus.

15 ܡܗܝܡܢܐ ܗܝ ܡܠܬܐ ܘܫܘܝܐ ܗܝ ܠܡܩܒܠܘܬܗ ܕܝܫܘܥ ܡܫܝܚܐ ܐܬܐ ܠܥܠܡܐ ܠܡܚܝܘ ܠܚܛܝܐ ܕܩܕܡܝܗܘܢ ܐܢܐ ܐܢܐ

Assuredly true and worthy of all acceptation is this saying: that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am chief.

16 ܐܠܐ ܡܛܠ ܗܢܐ ܪܚܡ ܥܠܝ ܕܒܝ ܩܕܡܐ ܢܚܘܐ ܝܫܘܥ ܡܫܝܚܐ ܟܠܗ ܡܓܪܬ ܪܘܚܗ ܠܬܚܘܝܬܐ ܕܐܝܠܝܢ ܕܥܬܝܕܝܢ ܕܢܗܝܡܢܘܢ ܒܗ ܠܚܝܐ ܕܠܥܠܡ (aiōnios g166)

But for this reason I obtained mercy, that in me first Jesus Christ might show all long-suffering, for an example to those who might afterward believe on him in order to life eternal. (aiōnios g166)

17 ܠܡܠܟܐ ܕܝܢ ܕܥܠܡܐ ܠܗܘ ܕܠܐ ܡܬܚܒܠ ܘܠܐ ܡܬܚܙܐ ܕܗܘܝܘ ܚܕ ܐܠܗܐ ܐܝܩܪܐ ܘܬܫܒܘܚܬܐ ܠܥܠܡ ܥܠܡܝܢ ܐܡܝܢ (aiōn g165)

Now to the King of the ages, the incorruptible, invisible, only wise God, be honor and glory from age to age. Amen.) (aiōn g165)

18 ܗܢܐ ܦܘܩܕܢܐ ܡܓܥܠ ܐܢܐ ܠܟ ܒܪܝ ܛܝܡܬܐܘܤ ܐܝܟ ܢܒܝܘܬܐ ܩܕܡܝܬܐ ܕܗܘܝ ܥܠܝܟ ܕܬܦܠܘܚ ܒܗܝܢ ܦܠܚܘܬܐ ܗܕܐ ܫܦܝܪܬܐ

This charge I commit to you, son Timothy, in accordance with the preceding prophecies concerning you, that by them you may war the good warfare,

19 ܒܗܝܡܢܘܬܐ ܘܒܬܐܪܬܐ ܛܒܬܐ ܐܝܠܝܢ ܓܝܪ ܕܠܗܕܐ ܕܚܩܘ ܡܢܗܘܢ ܡܢ ܗܝܡܢܘܬܐ ܐܤܬܪܩܘ

holding faith and a good conscience, which some having thrust from them, as it respects faith have made shipwreck; of whom are Hymenæus and Alexander,

20 ܐܝܟ ܗܘܡܢܐܘܤ ܘܐܠܟܤܢܕܪܘܤ ܗܠܝܢ ܕܐܫܠܡܬ ܠܤܛܢܐ ܕܢܬܪܕܘܢ ܕܠܐ ܢܗܘܘܢ ܡܓܕܦܝܢ

whom I have delivered to Satan, that they may learn not to revile.
