المَزامِير 58

١ 1 لِقَائِدِ الْمُنْشِدِينَ – عَلَى لَا تُهْلِكْ. مُذَهَّبَةٌ لِدَاوُدَ أَحَقّاً تَنْطِقُونَ بِالْحَقِّ أَيُّهَا الْحُكَّامُ، وَتَقْضُونَ بِالاسْتِقَامَةِ يَا بَنِي الْبَشَرِ؟

Unto the end. May you not destroy. Of David, with the inscription of a title. If, truly and certainly, you speak justice, then judge what is right, you sons of men.

٢ 2 لا! إِنَّمَا تُضْمِرُونَ الْبَاطِلَ فِي الْقَلْبِ وَتَرْتَكِبُ أَيْدِيكُمُ الظُّلْمَ فِي الأَرْضِ.

For, even in your heart, you work iniquity. Your hands construct injustice on the earth.

٣ 3 زَاغَ الأَشْرَارُ وَهُمْ مَا بَرِحُوا فِي بُطُونِ أُمَّهَاتِهِمْ، وَضَلُّوا نَاطِقِينَ بِالْكَذِبِ مُنْذُ أَنْ وُلِدُوا.

Sinners have become foreigners from the womb; they have gone astray from conception. They have been speaking falsehoods.

٤ 4 فِيهِمْ سُمٌّ كَسُمِّ الْحَيَّاتِ، يَسُدُّونَ آذَانَهُمْ كَالأَفَاعِي الصَّمَّاءِ،

Their fury is similar to that of a serpent; it is like a deaf asp, who even blocks her ears,

٥ 5 الَّتِي لَا تَسْمَعُ لِصَوْتِ الْحُوَاةِ، وَلَا لِصَوْتِ السَّاحِرِ الْمَاهِرِ.

who will not listen to the voice of charmers, nor even to the enchanter who chants wisely.

٦ 6 هَشِّمْ أَسْنَانَهُمْ فِي أَفْوَاهِهِمْ يَا اللهُ. حَطِّمْ أَنْيَابَ الأَشْبَالِ.

God will crush their teeth within their own mouth. The Lord will break the molars of the lions.

٧ 7 لِيَتَلاشَوْا كَالْمَاءِ الْمُرَاقِ، وَلْتَتَكَسَّرْ رُؤُوسُ سِهَامِهِمْ عِنْدَمَا يُصَوِّبُونَهَا.

They will come to nothing, like water flowing away. He has aimed his bow, while they are being weakened.

٨ 8 لِيَتَلاشَوْا مِثْلَ الْقَوَاقِعِ فِي أَثْنَاءِ زَحْفِهَا، وَكَالْجَنِينِ الْمُجْهَضِ لَا يُعَايِنُونَ الشَّمْسَ.

Like wax that flows, they will be carried away. Fire has fallen upon them, and they will not see the sun.

٩ 9 وَقَبْلَ أَنْ تُحِسَّ قُدُورُكُمْ بِنَارِ الأَشْوَاكِ تَحْتَهَا، يَكْتَسِحُ اللهُ كَبِيرَهُمْ وَصَغِيرَهُمْ بِعَاصِفَةِ غَضَبِهِ،

Before your thorns could know the brier, he consumes them alive, as if in rage.

١٠ 10 يَفْرَحُ الأَبْرَارُ حِينَ يَرَوْنَ عِقَابَ الأَشْرَارِ، وَيَغْسِلُونَ أَقْدَامَهُمْ بِدَمِهِمْ.

The just one will rejoice when he sees vindication. He will wash his hands in the blood of the sinner.

١١ 11 فَيَقُولُ النَّاسُ: «حَقّاً إِنَّ للِصِّدِّيقِ مُكَافَأَةً، وَإِنَّ فِي الأَرْضِ إِلَهاً يَقْضِي».

And man will say, “If the just one is fruitful, then, truly, there is a God judging them on earth.”
