المَزامِير 49

١ 1 لِقَائِدِ الْمُنْشِدِينَ. مَزْمُورٌ لِبَنِي قُورَحَ اسْمَعُوا هَذَا يَا جَمِيعَ الشُّعُوبِ، أَصْغُوا يَا جَمِيعَ سُكَّانِ الْعَالَمِ.

For the chief musician. A psalm of the sons of Korah. Hear this, all you peoples; give ear, all you inhabitants of the world,

٢ 2 (اسْمَعُوا) إِلَيَّ أَيُّهَا الْعُظَمَاءُ، الأَغْنِيَاءُ وَالْفُقَرَاءُ عَلَى السَّوَاءِ.

both low and high, rich and poor together.

٣ 3 يَنْطِقُ فَمِي بِالْحِكْمَةِ، وَخَوَاطِرُ قَلْبِي بِالْفَهْمِ.

My mouth will speak wisdom and the meditation of my heart will be of understanding.

٤ 4 أُعِيرُ أُذُنِي لأَسْمَعَ مَثَلاً، وَعَلَى عَزْفِ الْعُودِ أَشْرَحُ لُغْزِي.

I will incline my ear to a parable; I will begin my parable with the harp.

٥ 5 لِمَاذَا أَخَافُ فِي أَيَّامِ الْخَطَرِ عِنْدَمَا يُحِيطُ بِي شَرُّ مُطَارِدِيَّ؟

Why should I fear the days of evil, when iniquity surrounds me at my heels?

٦ 6 أُولَئِكَ الْمُتَّكِلُونَ عَلَى ثَرْوَتِهِمْ، وَبِوَفْرَةِ غِنَاهُمْ يَفْتَخِرُونَ.

Why should I fear those who trust in their wealth and boast about the amount of their riches?

٧ 7 لَا يَقْدِرُ أَحَدٌ أَبَداً أَنْ يَفْتَدِيَ أَخَاهُ أَوْ يُقَدِّمَ لِلهِ كَفَّارَةً عَنْهُ.

It is certain that no one can redeem his brother or give God a ransom for him,

٨ 8 لأَنَّ فِدْيَةَ النُّفُوسِ بَاهِظَةٌ يَتَعَذَّرُ دَفْعُهَا مَدَى الْحَيَاةِ

For the redemption of one's life is costly, and no one can pay what we owe.

٩ 9 طَلَباً لِلْخُلُودِ عَلَى الأَرْضِ وَتَفَادِياً لِرُؤْيَةِ الْقَبْرِ.

No one can live forever so that his body should not decay.

١٠ 10 لَكِنَّ الْحُكَمَاءَ يَمُوتُونَ كَمَا يَمُوتُ الْجَاهِلُ وَالْغَبِيُّ، تَارِكِينَ ثَرْوَتَهُمْ لِغَيْرِهِمْ.

For he will see decay. Wise men die; the fool and the brute alike perish and leave their wealth to others.

١١ 11 يَتَوَهَّمُونَ أَنَّ بُيُوتَهُمْ خَالِدَةٌ، وَأَنَّ مَسَاكِنَهُمْ بَاقِيَةٌ مِنْ جِيلٍ إِلَى جِيلٍ، فَأَطْلَقُوا أَسْمَاءَهُمْ عَلَى أَرَاضِيهِمْ (تَخْلِيداً لِذِكْرِهِمْ).

Their inner thought is that their families will continue forever, and the places where they live, to all generations; they call their lands after their own names.

١٢ 12 وَلَكِنَّ الإِنْسَانَ لَا يَخْلُدُ فِي أُبَّهَتِهِ. إِنَّهُ يُمَاثِلُ الْبَهَائِمَ الَّتِي تُبَادُ.

But man, having wealth, does not remain alive; he is like the beasts that perish.

١٣ 13 هَذَا هُوَ مَصِيرُ الْجُهَّالِ الْوَاثِقِينَ بِأَنْفُسِهِمْ، وَمَصِيرُ أَعْقَابِهِمِ الَّذِينَ يَسْتَحْسِنُونَ أَقْوَالَهُمْ.

This, their way, is their folly; yet after them, men approve of their sayings. (Selah)

١٤ 14 يُسَاقُونَ لِلْمَوْتِ كَالأَغْنَامِ، وَيَكُونُ الْمَوْتُ رَاعِيَهُمْ وَيَسُودُ الْمُسْتَقِيمُونَ عَلَيْهِمْ. تَبْلَى صُورَتُهُمْ، وَتَصِيرُ الْهَاوِيَةُ مَسْكَنَهُمْ. (Sheol h7585)

Like sheep they are appointed for Sheol, and death will be their shepherd. The upright will rule over them in the morning, and their bodies will be consumed in Sheol, with no place for them to live. (Sheol h7585)

١٥ 15 إِنَّمَا اللهُ يَفْتَدِي نَفْسِي مِنْ قَبْضَةِ الْهَاوِيَةِ إذْ يَأْخُذُنِي إِلَيْهِ. (Sheol h7585)

But God will redeem my life from the power of Sheol; he will receive me. (Selah) (Sheol h7585)

١٦ 16 لَا تَخْشَ إِذَا اغْتَنَى إِنْسَانٌ، وَزَادَ مَجْدُ بَيْتِهِ.

Do not be afraid when one becomes rich, and the glory of his house increases.

١٧ 17 فَإِنَّهُ عِنْدَ مَوْتِهِ لَا يَأْخُذُ مَعَهُ شَيْئاً، وَلَا يَلْحَقُ بِهِ مَجْدُهُ إِلَى قَبْرِهِ.

For when he dies he will take nothing away; his glory will not go down after him.

١٨ 18 وَمَعَ أَنَّهُ يُنَعِّمُ نَفْسَهُ بِالْبَرَكَاتِ فِي أَثْنَاءِ حَيَاتِهِ وَيُطْرِيهِ النَّاسُ إذْ أَحْسَنَ إِلَى نَفْسِهِ،

He blessed his soul while he lived— and men praise you when you live for yourself—

١٩ 19 إلّا أَنَّ نَفْسَهُ سَتَلْحَقُ بِآبَائِهِ، الَّذِينَ لَا يَرَوْنَ النُّورَ إِلَى الأَبَدِ.

he will go to the generation of his fathers and they will never see the light again.

٢٠ 20 فَالإِنْسَانُ الْمُتَمَتِّعُ بِالْكَرَامَةِ مِنْ غَيْرِ فَهْمٍ، يُمَاثِلُ الْبَهَائِمَ البَائِدَةَ.

One who has wealth but no understanding is like the beasts, which perish.
