المَزامِير 38

١ 1 مَزْمُورٌ لِدَاوُدَ لِلتَّذْكِيرِ يَا رَبُّ لَا تُوَبِّخْنِي بِغَضَبِكَ، وَلَا تُؤَدِّبْنِي بِسَخَطِكَ،

`The salm of Dauid, to bythenke on the sabat. Lord, repreue thou not me in thi strong veniaunce; nether chastice thou me in thin ire.

٢ 2 لأَنَّ سِهَامَكَ قَدْ أَصَابَتْنِي وَضَرَبَاتِكَ قَدْ ثَقُلَتْ عَلَيَّ.

For thin arowis ben fitchid in me; and thou hast confermed thin hond on me.

٣ 3 اعْتَلَّ جَسَدِي لِفَرْطِ غَضَبِكَ عَلَيَّ. وَبَلِيَتْ عِظَامِي بِسَبَبِ خَطِيئَتِي.

Noon helthe is in my fleisch fro the face of thin ire; no pees is to my boonys fro the face of my synnes.

٤ 4 طَمَتْ آثَامِي فَوْقَ رَأْسِي. وَصَارَتْ كَعِبْءٍ ثَقِيلٍ لَا طَاقَةَ لِي عَلَى حَمْلِهِ.

For my wickidnessis ben goon ouer myn heed; as an heuy birthun, tho ben maad heuy on me.

٥ 5 أَنْتَنَتْ جِرَاحِي وَسَالَ صَدِيدُهَا بِسَبَبِ جَهَالَتِي.

Myn heelid woundis weren rotun, and ben brokun; fro the face of myn vnwisdom.

٦ 6 انْحَنَيْتُ وَالْتَوَيْتُ. وَدَامَ نَحِيبِي طُولَ النَّهَارِ.

I am maad a wretche, and Y am bowid doun til in to the ende; al dai Y entride sorewful.

٧ 7 امْتلأَ دَاخِلِي بِأَلَمٍ حَارِقٍ، فَلَا صِحَّةَ فِي جَسَدِي.

For my leendis ben fillid with scornyngis; and helthe is not in my fleisch.

٨ 8 أَنَا وَاهِنٌ وَمَسْحُوقٌ إِلَى الْغَايَةِ، وَأَئِنُّ مِنْ أَوْجَاعِ قَلْبِي الدَّفِينَةِ.

I am turmentid, and maad low ful greetli; Y roride for the weilyng of myn herte.

٩ 9 أَمَامَكَ يَا رَبُّ كُلُّ تَأَوُّهِي، وَتَنَهُّدِي مَكْشُوفٌ لَدَيْكَ.

Lord, al my desire is bifor thee; and my weilyng is not hid fro thee.

١٠ 10 خَفَقَ قَلْبِي وَفَارَقَتْنِي قُوَّتِي، وَاضْمَحَلَّ فِيَّ نُورُ عَيْنَيَّ.

Myn herte is disturblid in me, my vertu forsook me; and the liyt of myn iyen `forsook me, and it is not with me.

١١ 11 وَقَفَ أَحِبَّائِي وَأَصْحَابِي مُسْتَنْكِفِينَ مِنِّي بِسَبَبِ مُصِيبَتِي، وَتَنَحَّى أَقَارِبِي عَنِّي.

My frendis and my neiyboris neiyiden; and stoden ayens me. And thei that weren bisidis me stoden afer;

١٢ 12 نَصَبَ السَّاعُونَ لِقَتْلِي الْفِخَاخَ، وَطَالِبُو أَذِيَّتِي تَوَعَّدُوا بِدَمَارِي، وَتَآمَرُوا طُولَ النَّهَارِ لِلإِيقَاعِ بِي.

and thei diden violence, that souyten my lijf. And thei that souyten yuels to me, spaken vanytees; and thouyten gilis al dai.

١٣ 13 أَمَّا أَنَا فَقَدْ كُنْتُ كَأَصَمَّ، لَا يَسْمَعُ، وَكَأَخْرَسَ لَا يَفْتَحُ فَاهُ.

But Y as a deef man herde not; and as a doumb man not openynge his mouth.

١٤ 14 كُنْتُ كَمَنْ لَا يَسْمَعُ، وَكَمَنْ لَيْسَ فِي فَمِهِ حُجَّةٌ.

And Y am maad as a man not herynge; and not hauynge repreuyngis in his mouth.

١٥ 15 لأَنِّي قَدْ وَضَعْتُ فِيكَ رَجَائِي، وَأَنْتَ تَسْتَجِيبُنِي يَا رَبُّ يَا إِلَهِي.

For, Lord, Y hopide in thee; my Lord God, thou schalt here me.

١٦ 16 قُلْتُ: «لَا تَدَعْهُمْ يَشْمَتُونَ بِي فَحَالَمَا زَلَّتْ قَدَمِي تَغَطْرَسُوا عَلَيَّ»

For Y seide, Lest ony tyme myn enemyes haue ioye on me; and the while my feet ben mouyd, thei spaken grete thingis on me.

١٧ 17 لأَنِّي أَكَادُ أَتَعَثَّرُ، وَوَجَعِي دَائِماً أَمَامَ نَاظِرِي.

For Y am redi to betyngis; and my sorewe is euere in my siyt.

١٨ 18 أَعْتَرِفُ جَهْراً بِإِثْمِي، وأَحْزَنُ مِنْ أَجْلِ خَطِيئَتِي.

For Y schal telle my wickidnesse; and Y schal thenke for my synne.

١٩ 19 أَمَّا أَعْدَائِي فَيَفِيضُونَ حَيَوِيَّةً. تَجَبَّرُوا وَكَثُرَ الَّذِينَ يُبْغِضُونَنِي ظُلْماً.

But myn enemyes lyuen, and ben confermed on me; and thei ben multiplyed, that haten me wickidli.

٢٠ 20 وَالَّذِينَ يُجَازُونَ الْخَيْرَ بِالشَّرِّ يُقَاوِمُونَنِي لأَنِّي أَتْبَعُ الصَّلاحَ.

Thei that yelden yuels for goodis, backbitiden me; for Y suede goodnesse.

٢١ 21 لَا تَنْبِذْنِي يَا رَبُّ. يَا إِلَهِي لَا تَبْعُدْ عَنِّي.

My Lord God, forsake thou not me; go thou not awei fro me.

٢٢ 22 أَسْرِعْ لِنَجْدَتِي يَا رَبُّ يَا مُخَلِّصِي.

Lord God of myn helthe; biholde thou in to myn help.
