الأمثال 7
| يَا ابْنِي احْفَظْ أَقْوَالِي وَاذْخَرْ وَصَايَايَ مَعَكَ. | ١ 1 |
son: child my to keep: guard word my and commandment my to treasure with you
| أَطِعْ وَصَايَايَ فَتَحْيَا، وَصُنْ شَرِيعَتِي كَحَدَقَةِ عَيْنِكَ. | ٢ 2 |
to keep: guard commandment my and to live and instruction my like/as pupil eye your
| اعْصِبْهَا عَلَى أَصَابِعِكَ، وَاكْتُبْهَا عَلَى صَفْحَاتِ قَلْبِكَ. | ٣ 3 |
to conspire them upon finger your to write them upon tablet heart your
| قُلْ لِلْحِكْمَةِ: أَنْتِ أُخْتِي، وَلِلْفِطْنَةِ: أَنْتِ قَرِيبَتِي. | ٤ 4 |
to say to/for wisdom sister my you(f. s.) and kinsman to/for understanding to call: call to
| فَهُمَا تَحْفَظَانِكَ مِنَ الْمَرْأَةِ الْعَاهِرَةِ، وَالزَّوْجَةِ الْفَاسِقَةِ الَّتِي تَتَمَلَّقُ بِكَلامِهَا. | ٥ 5 |

| فَإِنِّي أَشْرَفْتُ مِنْ كُوَّةِ بَيْتِي، وَأَطْلَلْتُ مِنْ خِلالِ نَافِذَتِي، | ٦ 6 |

| فَشَاهَدْتُ بَيْنَ الْبَنِينَ الْحَمْقَى شَابّاً مُجَرَّداً مِنَ الْفَهْمِ، | ٧ 7 |
and to see: see in/on/with simple to understand in/on/with son: child youth lacking heart
| يَجْتَازُ الطَّرِيقَ صَوْبَ الْمُنْعَطَفِ، بِاتِّجَاهِ الشَّارِعِ الْمُفْضِي إِلَى بَيْتِهَا. | ٨ 8 |
to pass in/on/with street beside corner her and way: road house: home her to march
| عِنْدَ الْغَسَقِ فِي الْمَسَاءِ تَحْتَ جُنْحِ اللَّيْلِ وَالظُّلْمَةِ. | ٩ 9 |
in/on/with twilight in/on/with evening day in/on/with pupil night and darkness
| فَإِذَا بِامْرَأَةٍ تَسْتَقْبِلُهُ فِي زِيِّ زَانِيَةٍ وَقَلْبٍ مُخَادِعٍ. | ١٠ 10 |
and behold woman to/for to encounter: meet him garment to fornicate and to watch heart
| صَخَّابَةٌ وَجَامِحَةٌ لَا تَسْتَقِرُّ قَدَمَاهَا فِي بَيْتِهَا. | ١١ 11 |
to roar he/she/it and to rebel in/on/with house: home her not to dwell foot her
| تَرَاهَا تَارَةً فِي الْخَارِجِ، وَطَوْراً فِي سَاحَاتِ الأَسْوَاقِ، تَكْمُنُ عِنْدَ كُلِّ مُنْعَطَفٍ. | ١٢ 12 |

| فَأَمْسَكَتْهُ وَقَبَّلَتْهُ وَقَالَتْ لَهُ بِوَجْهٍ وَقِحٍ: | ١٣ 13 |

| «كَانَ عَلَيَّ أَنْ أُقَدِّمَ ذَبَائِحَ سَلامٍ، فَأَوْفَيْتُ الْيَوْمَ نُذُورِي. | ١٤ 14 |
sacrifice peace offering upon me [the] day to complete vow my
| وَقَدْ خَرَجْتُ لاِسْتِقْبَالِكَ، بَعْدَ أَنْ بَحَثْتُ بِشَوْقٍ عَنْكَ حَتَّى وَجَدْتُكَ. | ١٥ 15 |
upon so to come out: come to/for to encounter: meet you to/for to seek face of your and to find you
| قَدْ فَرَشْتُ سَرِيرِي بِأَغْطِيَةٍ كَتَّانِيَّةٍ مُوَشَّاةٍ مِنْ مِصْرَ، | ١٦ 16 |
covering to spread bed my colored fine linen Egypt
| وَعَطَّرْتُ فِرَاشِي بِطِيبِ الْمُرِّ وَالْقِرْفَةِ. | ١٧ 17 |
to sprinkle bed my myrrh aloe and cinnamon
| فَتَعَالَ لِنَرْتَوِيَ مِنَ الْحُبِّ حَتَّى الصَّبَاحِ، وَنَتَلَذَّذَ بِمُتَعِ الْغَرَامِ. | ١٨ 18 |
to go: come! [emph?] to quench beloved: love till [the] morning to rejoice in/on/with beloved
| فَإِنَّ زَوْجِي لَيْسَ فِي الْبَيْتِ، قَدْ مَضَى فِي رِحْلَةٍ بَعِيدَةٍ. | ١٩ 19 |
for nothing [the] man: husband in/on/with house: home his to go: went in/on/with way: journey from distant
| وَأَخَذَ مَعَهُ صُرَّةً مُكْتَنِزَةً بِالْمَالِ، وَلَنْ يَعُودَ إِلّا عِنْدَ اكْتِمَالِ الْبَدْرِ». | ٢٠ 20 |

| فَأَغْوَتْهُ بِكَثْرَةِ أَفَانِينِ كَلامِهَا، وَرَنَّحَتْهُ بِتَمَلُّقِ شَفَتَيْهَا. | ٢١ 21 |
to stretch him in/on/with abundance teaching her in/on/with smoothness lip: words her to banish him
| فَمَضَى عَلَى التَّوِّ فِي إِثْرِهَا، كَثَوْرٍ مَسُوقٍ إِلَى الذَّبْحِ، أَوْ أَيِّلٍ وَقَعَ فِي فَخٍّ. | ٢٢ 22 |

| إِلَى أَنْ يَنْفُذَ سَهْمٌ فِي كَبِدِهِ، وَيَكُونَ كَعُصْفُورٍ مُنْدَفِعٍ إِلَى شَرَكٍ، لَا يَدْرِي أَنَّهُ قَدْ نُصِبَ لِلْقَضَاءِ عَلَيْهِ. | ٢٣ 23 |
till to cleave arrow liver his like/as to hasten bird to(wards) snare and not to know for in/on/with soul: life his he/she/it
| وَالآنَ أَصْغُوا إِلَيَّ أَيُّهَا الأَبْنَاءُ، وَأَرْهِفُوا آذَانَكُمْ إِلَى أَقْوَالِ فَمِي: | ٢٤ 24 |
and now son: descendant/people to hear: hear to/for me and to listen to/for word lip my
| لَا تَجْنَحْ قُلُوبُكُمْ نَحْوَ طُرُقِهَا، وَلا تُحَوِّمْ فِي دُرُوبِهَا. | ٢٥ 25 |
not to turn aside to(wards) way: conduct her heart your not to go astray in/on/with path her
| فَمَا أَكْثَرَ الَّذِينَ طَرَحَتْهُمْ مُثْخَنِينَ بِالْجِرَاحِ، وَجَمِيعُ صَرْعَاهَا أَقْوِيَاءُ. | ٢٦ 26 |
for many slain: wounded to fall: deserting and mighty all to kill her
