الأمثال 3
| يَا ابْنِي لَا تَنْسَ تَعَالِيمِي، وَلْيُرَاعِ قَلْبُكَ وَصَايَايَ. | ١ 1 |
My son! my law forget not, And my commands let thy heart keep,
| لأَنَّهَا تَمُدُّ فِي أَيَّامِ عُمْرِكَ، وَتَزِيدُكَ سِنِي حَيَاةٍ وَسَلاماً. | ٢ 2 |
For length of days and years, Life and peace they do add to thee.
| لَا تَدَعِ الرَّحْمَةَ وَالأَمَانَةَ تَتَخَلَّيَانِ عَنْكَ، بَلْ تَقَلَّدْهُمَا فِي عُنُقِكَ، وَاكْتُبْهُمَا عَلَى صَفْحَةِ قَلْبِكَ، | ٣ 3 |
Let not kindness and truth forsake thee, Bind them on thy neck, Write them on the tablet of thy heart,
| فَتَحْظَى بِالرِّضَى وَحُسْنِ السِّيرَةِ فِي عُيُونِ اللهِ وَالنَّاسِ. | ٤ 4 |
And find grace and good understanding In the eyes of God and man.
| اتَّكِلْ عَلَى الرَّبِّ بِكُلِّ قَلْبِكَ، وَعَلَى فِطْنَتِكَ لَا تَعْتَمِدْ. | ٥ 5 |
Trust unto Jehovah with all thy heart, And unto thine own understanding lean not.
| اعْرِفِ الرَّبَّ فِي كُلِّ طُرُقِكَ وَهُوَ يُقَوِّمُ سُبُلَكَ. | ٦ 6 |
In all thy ways know thou Him, And He doth make straight thy paths.
| لَا تَكُنْ حَكِيماً فِي عَيْنَيْ نَفْسِكَ بَلِ اتَّقِ الرَّبَّ وَحِدْ عَنِ الشَّرِّ، | ٧ 7 |
Be not wise in thine own eyes, Fear Jehovah, and turn aside from evil.
| فَيَتَمَتَّعَ جَسَدُكَ بِالصِّحَّةِ، وَتَتَمَتَّعَ عِظَامُكَ بِالارْتِوَاءِ. | ٨ 8 |
Healing it is to thy navel, And moistening to thy bones.
| أَكْرِمِ الرَّبَّ مِنْ مَالِكَ، وَمِنْ أَوَائِلِ غَلَّاتِ مَحَاصِيلِكَ. | ٩ 9 |
Honour Jehovah from thy substance, And from the beginning of all thine increase;
| فَتَمْتَلِئَ مَخَازِنُكَ وَفْرَةً، وَتَفِيضَ مَعَاصِرُكَ خَمْراً. | ١٠ 10 |
And filled are thy barns [with] plenty, And [with] new wine thy presses break forth.
| يَا ابْنِي لَا تَحْتَقِرْ تَأْدِيبَ الرَّبِّ وَلا تَكْرَهْ تَوْبِيخَهُ، | ١١ 11 |
Chastisement of Jehovah, my son, despise not, And be not vexed with His reproof,
| لأَنَّ مَنْ يُحِبُّهُ الرَّبُّ يُؤَدِّبُهُ، وَيُسَرُّ بِهِ كَمَا يُسَرُّ أَبٌ بِابْنِهِ. | ١٢ 12 |
For whom Jehovah loveth He reproveth, Even as a father the son He is pleased with.
| طُوبَى لِلإِنْسَانِ الَّذِي عَثَرَ عَلَى الْحِكْمَةِ وَلِلرَّجُلِ الَّذِي أَحْرَزَ فَهْماً، | ١٣ 13 |
O the happiness of a man [who] hath found wisdom, And of a man [who] bringeth forth understanding.
| لأَنَّ مَكَاسِبَهَا أَفْضَلُ مِنْ مَكَاسِبِ الْفِضَّةِ، وَأَرْبَاحَهَا خَيْرٌ مِنْ أَرْبَاحِ الذَّهَبِ الْخَالِصِ. | ١٤ 14 |
For better [is] her merchandise Than the merchandise of silver, And than gold — her increase.
| هِيَ أَثْمَنُ مِنَ الْجَوَاهِرِ، وَكُلُّ نَفَائِسِكَ لَا تُعَادِلُهَا. | ١٥ 15 |
Precious she [is] above rubies, And all thy pleasures are not comparable to her.
| فِي يَمِينِهَا حَيَاةٌ مَدِيدَةٌ وَفِي يَسَارِهَا غِنىً وَجَاهٌ. | ١٦ 16 |
Length of days [is] in her right hand, In her left [are] wealth and honour.
| طُرُقُهَا طُرُقُ نِعَمٍ، وَدُرُوبُهَا دُرُوبُ سَلامٍ. | ١٧ 17 |
Her ways [are] ways of pleasantness, And all her paths [are] peace.
| هِيَ شَجَرَةُ حَيَاةٍ لِمَنْ يَتَشَبَّثُ بِها، وَهَنِيئاً لِمَنْ يَتَمَسَّكُ بِها. | ١٨ 18 |
A tree of life she [is] to those laying hold on her, And whoso is retaining her [is] happy.
| بِالْحِكْمَةِ أَسَّسَ الرَّبُّ الأَرْضَ، وَبِالْفِطْنَةِ ثَبَّتَ السَّمَاوَاتِ فِي مَوَاضِعِهَا. | ١٩ 19 |
Jehovah by wisdom did found the earth, He prepared the heavens by understanding.
| بِعِلْمِهِ تَفَجَّرَتِ اللُّجَجُ، وَقَطَرَ السَّحَابُ نَدىً. | ٢٠ 20 |
By His knowledge depths have been rent, And clouds do drop dew.
| فَلا تَبْرَحْ يَا ابْنِي هَذِهِ مِنْ أَمَامِ عَيْنَيْكَ وَاعْمَلْ بِالرَّأْيِ الصَّائِبِ وَالتَّدْبِيرِ. | ٢١ 21 |
My son! let them not turn from thine eyes, Keep thou wisdom and thoughtfulness,
| فَيَكُونَ هَذَانِ حَيَاةً لِنَفْسِكَ وَقَلادَةً تُجَمِّلُ عُنُقَكَ. | ٢٢ 22 |
And they are life to thy soul, and grace to thy neck.
| فَتَسْلُكُ آنَئِذٍ فِي طَرِيقِكَ آمِناً وَلا تَتَعَثَّرُ قَدَمُكَ. | ٢٣ 23 |
Then thou goest thy way confidently, And thy foot doth not stumble.
| إِذَا اضْطَجَعْتَ لَا يَعْتَرِيكَ خَوْفٌ، بَلْ تَرْقُدُ مُتَمَتِّعاً بِالنَّوْمِ اللَّذِيذِ. | ٢٤ 24 |
If thou liest down, thou art not afraid, Yea, thou hast lain down, And sweet hath been thy sleep.
| لَا تَفْزَعْ مِنْ بَلِيَّةٍ مُبَاغِتَةٍ، وَلا مِمَّا يَجْرِي عَلَى الأَشْرَارِ مِنْ خَرَابٍ إِذَا حَلَّ بِهِمْ. | ٢٥ 25 |
Be not afraid of sudden fear, And of the desolation of the wicked when it cometh.
| لأَنَّ الرَّبَّ يَكُونُ مُعْتَمَدَكَ، وَيَصُونُ رِجْلَكَ مِنَ الشَّرَكِ. | ٢٦ 26 |
For Jehovah is at thy side, And He hath kept thy foot from capture.
| لَا تَحْجُبِ الإِحْسَانَ عَنْ أَهْلِهِ كُلَّمَا كَانَ فِي وُسْعِكَ أَنْ تَقُومَ بِهِ. | ٢٧ 27 |
Withhold not good from its owners, When thy hand [is] toward God to do [it].
| لَا تَقُلْ لِجَارِكَ: «اذْهَبِ الآنَ، ثُمَّ عُدْ ثَانِيَةً. غَداً أُعْطِيكَ مَا تَطْلُبُ»، طَالَمَا لَدَيْكَ مَا يَطْلُبُ. | ٢٨ 28 |
Say not thou to thy friend, 'Go, and return, and to-morrow I give,' And substance with thee.
| لَا تَتَآمَرْ بِالشَّرِّ عَلَى جَارِكَ الْمُقِيمِ مُطْمَئِنّاً إِلَى جُوَارِكَ. | ٢٩ 29 |
Devise not against thy neighbour evil, And he sitting confidently with thee.
| لَا تُخَاصِمْ أَحَداً مِنْ غَيْرِ عِلَّةٍ طَالَمَا لَمْ يُؤْذِكَ. | ٣٠ 30 |
Strive not with a man without cause, If he have not done thee evil.
| لَا تَغَرْ مِنَ الظَّالِمِ وَلا تَخْتَرْ طُرُقَهُ. | ٣١ 31 |
Be not envious of a man of violence, Nor fix thou on any of his ways.
| لأَنَّ الْمُلْتَوِيَ رِجْسٌ لَدَى الرَّبِّ، أَمَّا الْمُسْتَقِيمُونَ فَهُمْ أَهْلُ ثِقَتِهِ. | ٣٢ 32 |
For an abomination to Jehovah [is] the perverted, And with the upright [is] His secret counsel.
| لَعْنَةُ الرَّبِّ تَنْصَبُّ عَلَى بَيْتِ الشِّرِّيرِ، لَكِنَّهُ يُبَارِكُ مَسْكَنَ الصِّدِّيقِ. | ٣٣ 33 |
The curse of Jehovah [is] in the house of the wicked. And the habitation of the righteous He blesseth.
| يَسخَرُ مِنَ الْمُسْتَكْبِرِينَ السَّاخِرِينَ، وَيُغْدِقُ رِضَاهُ عَلَى الْمُتَوَاضِعِينَ | ٣٤ 34 |
If the scorners He doth scorn, Yet to the humble He doth give grace.
| يَرِثُ الْحُكَمَاءُ كَرَامَةً، أَمَّا الْحَمْقَى فَيَرْتَدُونَ الْعَارَ. | ٣٥ 35 |
Honour do the wise inherit, And fools are bearing away shame!
