الأمثال 28

١ 1 يَهْرُبُ الشِّرِّيرُ مَعَ أَنَّ لَا مُطَارِدَ لَهُ، أَمَّا الصِّدِّيقُونَ فَشَجَاعَتُهُمْ كَشَجَاعَةِ الشِّبْلِ.

The wicked man fleeth, when no man pursueth: but the just, bold as a lion, shall be without dread.

٢ 2 عِنْدَمَا يَتَمَرَّدُ أَهْلُ أَرْضٍ يَكْثُرُ رُؤَسَاؤُهُمْ وَتَعُمُّ الْفَوْضَى، وَلَكِنَّهَا تَدُومُ إِنْ حَكَمَهَا ذُو فَهْمٍ وَمَعْرِفَةٍ.

For the sins of the land many are the princes thereof: and for the wisdom of a man, and the knowledge of those things that are said, the life of the prince shall be prolonged.

٣ 3 الْفَقِيرُ الْجَائِرُ عَلَى الْمُعْوَزِ، كَمَطَرٍ جَارِفٍ لَا يُبْقِي عَلَى طَعَامٍ.

A poor man that oppresseth the poor, is like a violent shower, which bringeth a famine.

٤ 4 مَنْ يُهْمِلِ الشَّرِيعَةَ يَحْمَدِ الشِّرِّيرَ، وَالَّذِي يُحَافِظُ عَلَيْهَا يُخَاصِمُهُ.

They that forsake the law, praise the wicked man: they that keep it, are incensed against him.

٥ 5 لَا يَفْهَمُ الأَشْرَارُ الْعَدْلَ، أَمَّا مُلْتَمِسُو الرَّبِّ فَيُدْرِكُونَهُ تَمَاماً.

Evil men think not on judgment: but they that seek after the Lord, take notice of all things.

٦ 6 الرَّجُلُ الْفَقِيرُ السَّالِكُ بِكَمَالِهِ، خَيْرٌ مِنَ الْغَنِيِّ المُنْحَرِفِ فِي طُرُقِهِ.

Better is the poor man walking in his simplicity, than the rich in crooked ways.

٧ 7 مَنْ يُحَافِظُ عَلَى الشَّرِيعَةِ هُوَ ابْنٌ حَكِيمٌ، أَمَّا عَشِيرُ الْجَشِعِينَ فَيُخْجِلُ أَبَاهُ.

He that keepeth the law is a wise son: but he that feedeth gluttons, shameth his father.

٨ 8 الْمُكْثِرُ مَالَهُ بِالرِّبَا وَالاسْتِغْلالِ، إِنَّمَا يَجْمَعُهُ لِمَنْ هُوَ رَحِيمٌ بِالْفُقَرَاءِ.

He that heapeth together riches by usury and loan, gathereth them for him that will be bountiful to the poor.

٩ 9 مَنْ يَصْرِفُ أُذُنَهُ عَنِ الاسْتِمَاعِ إِلَى الشَّرِيعَةِ، تَصِيرُ حَتَّى صَلاتُهُ رَجَاسَةً.

He that turneth away his ears from hearing the law, his prayer shall be as abomination.

١٠ 10 مَنْ يُضِلُّ الْمُسْتَقِيمِينَ لِيَسْلُكُوا فِي سَبِيلِ الشَّرِّ، يَسْقُطُ فِي حُفْرَتِهِ، أَمَّا الْكَامِلُونَ فَيَنَالُونَ مِيرَاثَ خَيْرٍ.

He that deceiveth the just in a wicked way, shall fall in his own destruction: and the upright shall possess his goods.

١١ 11 الْغَنِيُّ حَكِيمٌ فِي عَيْنَيْ نَفْسِهِ، لَكِنَّ الْفَقِيرَ الْبَصِيرَ يَكْتَشِفُ حَقِيقَتَهُ.

The rich man seemeth to himself wise: but the poor man that is prudent shall search him out.

١٢ 12 عِنْدَمَا يَظْفَرُ الصِّدِّيقُ يَشِيعُ الْفَخْرُ الْعَظِيمُ، لَكِنْ حِينَ يَتَسَلَّطُ الأَشْرَارُ يَتَوَارَى النَّاسُ.

In the joy of the just there is great glory: when the wicked reign, men are ruined.

١٣ 13 مَنْ يَكْتُمُ آثَامَهُ لَا يُفْلِحُ، وَمَنْ يَعْتَرِفُ بِها وَيُقْلِعُ عَنْهَا يَحْظَى بِالرَّحْمَةِ.

He that hideth his sins, shall not prosper: but he that shall confess, and forsake them, shall obtain mercy.

١٤ 14 طُوبَى لِلإِنْسَانِ الَّذِي يَتَّقِي الرَّبَّ دَائِماً، أَمَّا مَنْ يُقَسِّي قَلْبَهُ فَيَسْقُطُ فِي الْبَلِيَّةِ.

Blessed is the man that is always fearful: but he that is hardened in mind, shall fall into evil.

١٥ 15 الْحَاكِمُ الْعَاتِي الْمُتَسَلِّطُ عَلَى الضُّعَفَاءِ، مِثْلُ أَسَدٍ زَائِرٍ أَوْ دُبٍّ ثَائِرٍ.

As a roaring lion, and a hungry bear, so is a wicked prince over the poor people.

١٦ 16 الْحَاكِمُ الْمُفْتَقِرُ إِلَى الْفِطْنَةِ، هُوَ مُتَسَلِّطٌ جَائِرٌ. وَمَنْ يَمْقُتُ الرِّبْحَ الْحَرَامَ يَتَمَتَّعُ بِعُمْرٍ مَدِيدٍ.

A prince void of prudence shall oppress many by calumny: but he that hateth covetousness, shall prolong his days.

١٧ 17 مَنْ هُوَ مُثَقَّلٌ بِارْتِكَابِ سَفْكِ دَمٍ، يَظَلُّ طَرِيداً حَتَّى وَفَاتِهِ، وَلا يُعِينُهُ أَحَدٌ.

A man that doth violence to the blood of a person, if he flee even to the pit, no man will stay him.

١٨ 18 مَنْ يَسْلُكْ بِالْكَمَالِ يَنْجُ، أَمَّا الْمُنْحَرِفُ إِلَى سَبِيلَيْنِ فَيَسْقُطُ فِي أَحَدِهِمَا.

He that walketh uprightly, shall be saved: he that is perverse in his ways shall fall at once.

١٩ 19 مَنْ يَفْلَحْ أَرْضَهُ يَكْثُرْ طَعَامُهُ، أَمَّا مَنْ يَتْبَعْ أَوْهَاماً بَاطِلَةً فَيَشْتَدّ فَقْرُهُ.

He that tilleth his ground, shall be filled with bread: but he that followeth idleness shall be filled with poverty.

٢٠ 20 الرَّجُلُ الأَمِينُ يَحْظَى بِبَرَكَاتٍ غَزِيرَةٍ، وَالْمُتَعَجِّلُ إِلَى الثَّرَاءِ لَا يَكُونُ بَرِيئاً.

A faithful man shall be much praised: but he that maketh haste to be rich, shall not be innocent.

٢١ 21 الْمُحَابَاةُ نَقِيصَةٌ، وَمِنْ أَجْلِ كِسْرَةِ خُبْزٍ يَرْتَكِبُ الإِنْسَانُ الإِسَاءَةَ.

He that hath respect to a person in judgment, doth not well: such a man even for a morsel of bread forsaketh the truth.

٢٢ 22 ذُو الْعَيْنِ الشِّرِّيرَةِ يَسْعَى مُسْرِعاً وَرَاءَ الْغِنَى، وَلا يُدْرِكُ أَنَّ الْفَقْرَ مُطْبِقٌ عَلَيْهِ.

A man, that maketh haste to be rich, and envieth others, is ignorant that poverty shall come upon him.

٢٣ 23 مَنْ يُوَبِّخْ إِنْسَاناً يَحْظَ مِنْ بَعْدُ بِرِضَاهُ أَكْثَرَ مِمَّنْ يَتَمَلَّقُ بِلِسَانِهِ.

He that rebuketh a man, shall afterward find favour with him, more than he that by a flattering tongue deceiveth him.

٢٤ 24 مَنْ يَسْلُبُ أَبَاهُ وَأُمَّهُ قَائِلاً: لَيْسَ فِي هَذَا إِثْمٌ، هُوَ شَرِيكُ الْهَادِمِ.

He that stealeth any thing from his father, or from his mother: and saith, This is no sin, is the partner of a murderer.

٢٥ 25 الإِنْسَانُ الْجَشِعُ يُثِيرُ النِّزَاعَ، وَالْمُتَوَكِّلُ عَلَى الرَّبِّ يُغْنَى.

He that boasteth, and puffeth up himself, stirreth up quarrels: but he that trusteth in the Lord, shall be healed.

٢٦ 26 الْمُتَّكِلُ عَلَى رَأْيِهِ أَحْمَقُ، أَمَّا السَّالِكُ فِي الْحِكْمَةِ فَيَنْجُو.

He that trusteth in his own heart, is a fool: but he that walketh wisely, he shall be saved.

٢٧ 27 مَنْ يُحْسِنْ إِلَى الْفَقِيرِ لَا يُدْرِكْهُ عَوَزٌ وَمَنْ يَحْجِبُ عَيْنَيْهِ عَنْهُ تَنْصَبُّ عَلَيْهِ لَعْنَاتٌ كَثِيرَةٌ.

He that giveth to the poor, shall not want: he that despiseth his entreaty, shall suffer indigence.

٢٨ 28 عِنْدَمَا يَتَسَلَّطُ الأَشْرَارُ يَتَوَارَى النَّاسُ، وَعِنْدَمَا يَبِيدُونَ يَكْثُرُ الأَبْرَارُ.

When the wicked rise up, men shall hide themselves: when they perish, the lust shall be multiplied.
