الأمثال 15

١ 1 الْجَوَابُ اللَّيِّنُ يُبَدِّدُ الْغَضَبَ، وَالْكَلِمَةُ الْقَارِصَةُ تُهَيِّجُ السَّخَطَ.

An answer soft it turns away rage and a word of hurt it raises anger.

٢ 2 لِسَانُ الْحَكِيمِ يُتْقِنُ الْمَعْرِفَةَ، وَأَقْوَالُ الْجُهَّالِ تَفِيضُ حَمَاقَةً.

[the] tongue of Wise [people] it makes good knowledge and [the] mouth of fools it pours forth foolishness.

٣ 3 عَيْنَا الرَّبِّ فِي كُلِّ مَكَانٍ تُرَاقِبَانِ الأَشْرَارَ وَالأَخْيَارَ.

[are] in Every place [the] eyes of Yahweh watching evil [people] and good [people].

٤ 4 اللِّسَانُ السَّلِيمُ يُنْعِشُ كَشَجَرَةِ حَيَاةٍ، وَاعْوِجَاجُهُ يُؤَدِّي إِلَى انْكِسَارِ الرُّوحِ.

Healing of tongue [is] a tree of life and perverseness with it [is] brokenness in spirit.

٥ 5 الْجَاهِلُ يَسْتَخِفُّ بِتَأْدِيبِ أَبِيهِ، أَمَّا الْعَاقِلُ فَيَقْبَلُ التَّأْدِيبَ.

A fool he spurns [the] discipline of father his and [one who] keeps correction he is prudent.

٦ 6 فِي بَيْتِ الصِّدِّيقِ كَنْزٌ نَفِيسٌ، وَفِي دَخْلِ الأَشْرَارِ بَلِيَّةٌ.

[the] house of A righteous [person] wealth great and with [the] income of a wicked [person] trouble.

٧ 7 أَقْوَالُ شِفَاهِ الْحُكَمَاءِ تَنْشُرُ الْمَعْرِفَةَ، أَمَّا قُلُوبُ الْجُهَّالِ فَتَنْبُعُ حَمَاقَةً.

[the] lips of Wise [people] they scatter knowledge and [the] heart of fools [is] not right.

٨ 8 قُرْبَانُ الْمُنَافِقِينَ مَكْرَهَةُ الرَّبِّ، وَمَسَرَّتُهُ صَلاةُ الْمُسْتَقِيمِينَ.

[the] sacrifice of Wicked [people] [is] [the] abomination of Yahweh and [is the] prayer of upright [people] delight his.

٩ 9 سُلُوكُ الشِّرِّيرِ رِجْسٌ لَدَى الرَّبِّ، وَمَحَبَّتُهُ لِمَنْ يَتْبَعُ الْبِرَّ.

[is] [the] abomination of Yahweh [the] way of a wicked [person] and [one who] pursues righteousness he loves.

١٠ 10 الْمُنْحَرِفُ عَنْ طَرِيقِ الرَّبِّ يُجَازَى بِالتَّأْدِيبِ الْقَاسِي، وَمَنْ يَمْقُتُ التَّقْوِيمَ يَمُوتُ.

Discipline bad [is] for [one who] forsakes [the] path [one who] hates correction he will die.

١١ 11 أَعْمَاقُ الْهَاوِيَةِ وَالْهَلاكِ مَكْشُوفَةٌ أَمَامَ الرَّبِّ، فَكَمْ بِالْحَرِيِّ قُلُوبُ أَبْنَاءِ الْبَشَرِ. (Sheol h7585)

Sheol and Abaddon [are] before Yahweh indeed? for [the] hearts of [the] children of humankind. (Sheol h7585)

١٢ 12 الْمُسْتَهْزِئُ يَكْرَهُ التَّوْبِيخَ، وَلا يَلْجَأُ إِلَى الْحُكَمَاءِ.

Not he loves a mocker reproof to him to wise [people] not he goes.

١٣ 13 الْقَلْبُ الْفَرِحُ يَجْعَلُ الْوَجْهَ طَلِقاً، وَبِكَآبَةِ الْقَلْبِ تَنْسَحِقُ الرُّوحُ.

A heart joyful it makes good a face and by sorrow of heart a spirit [is] stricken.

١٤ 14 قَلْبُ الْحَكِيمِ يَلْتَمِسُ الْمَعْرِفَةَ، وَفَمُ الْجَاهِلِ يَرْعَى حَمَاقَةً.

A heart discerning it seeks knowledge (and [the] mouth of *Q(K)*) fools it feeds on foolishness.

١٥ 15 جَمِيعُ أَيَّامِ الْبَائِسِ شَقِيَّةٌ، أَمَّا طَيِّبُ الْقَلْبِ فَالتَّوْفِيقُ الدَّائِمُ حَلِيفُهُ.

All [the] days of [the] afflicted [are] displeasing and a [person] good of heart a feast continually.

١٦ 16 قَلِيلٌ مِنَ الْمَالِ مَعْ تَقْوَى الرَّبِّ خَيْرٌ مِنْ كَنْزٍ عَظِيمٍ يُخَالِطُهُ هَمٌّ.

[is] good A little with [the] fear of Yahweh more than treasure great and turmoil with it.

١٧ 17 أَكْلَةٌ مِنَ الْبُقُولِ فِي جَوٍّ مُشَبَّعٍ بِالْمَحَبَّةِ خَيْرٌ مِنْ أَكْلِ وَجْبَةٍ مِنْ لَحْمِ عِجْلٍ مَعْلُوفٍ فِي جَوٍّ مِنَ الْبَغْضَاءِ.

[is] good A portion of vegetables and love [is] there more than an ox fattened and hatred [is] with it.

١٨ 18 الرَّجُلُ الْغَضُوبُ يُثِيرُ الْخُصُومَةَ، وَالطَّويِلُ الأَنَاةِ يُسَكِّنُ النِّزَاعَ.

A person of rage he stirs up strife and a [person] long of anger he makes quiet a dispute.

١٩ 19 طَرِيقُ الْكَسُولِ مَمْلُوءٌ بِالْمَتَاعِبِ، أَمَّا سَبِيلُ الْمُسْتَقِيمِينَ فَمُمَهَّدٌ.

[the] way of A sluggard [is] like a hedge of thorn[s] and [the] path of upright [people] [is] cast up.

٢٠ 20 الابْنُ الْحَكِيمُ يَسُرُّ أَبَاهُ وَالْجَاهِلُ يَحْتَقِرُ أُمَّهُ.

A son wise he makes glad a father and a fool a person [is] despising mother his.

٢١ 21 الْحَمَاقَةُ مَصْدَرُ فَرَحٍ لِلْغَبِيِّ، أَمَّا الْفَهِيمُ فَيَسْلُكُ بِاسْتِقَامَةٍ.

Foolishness [is] a joy to [one] lacking of heart and a person of understanding (he makes straight *L(abh)*) to walk.

٢٢ 22 تُخْفِقُ الْمَقَاصِدُ مِنْ غَيْرِ مَشُورَةٍ، وَتُفْلِحُ بِكَثْرَةِ الْمُشِيرِينَ.

They go wrong plans when there not [is] counsel and with multitude of counselors it is established.

٢٣ 23 الْجَوَابُ الْمُلائِمُ يُفَرِّحُ الإِنْسَانَ، وَمَا أَحْسَنَ الْكَلِمَةَ فِي حِينِهَا.

Joy [belongs] to person in [the] answer of mouth his and [is] a word at appropriate time its how! good.

٢٤ 24 طَرِيقُ الإِنْسَانِ الْحَكِيمِ تَرْتَقِي بِهِ صُعُوداً نَحْوَ الْحَيَاةِ، لِكَيْ يَتَفَادَى الْهَاوِيَةَ مِنْ تَحْتُ. (Sheol h7585)

[the] path of Life [is] upwards for [one who] acts prudently so as to turn aside from Sheol beneath. (Sheol h7585)

٢٥ 25 يَسْتَأْصِلُ الرَّبُّ بَيْتَ الْمُتَغَطْرِسِينَ، وَيُوَطِّدُ تُخْمَ الأَرْمَلَةِ.

[the] house of Proud [people] he tears down - Yahweh and he will establish [the] territory of a widow.

٢٦ 26 نَوَايَا الأَشْرَارِ رِجْسٌ لَدَى الرَّبِّ، وَفِي أَقْوَالِ الأَطْهَارِ مَسَرَّتُهُ.

[are] [the] abomination of Yahweh [the] plans of an evil [person] and [are] clean words of kindness.

٢٧ 27 الْحَرِيصُ عَلَى الْكَسْبِ يَجْلِبُ الْمَتَاعِبَ لِبَيْتِهِ، وَمَنْ يَكْرَهُ الرِّشْوَةَ يَحْيَا.

[is] troubling Own house his [one who] gains unjustly unjust gain and [one who] hates gifts he will live.

٢٨ 28 قَلْبُ الصِّدِّيقِ يَتَمَعَّنُ فِي الْجَوَابِ، أَمَّا أَفْوَاهُ الأَشْرَارِ فَتَتَدَفَّقُ بِالْخَبَائِثِ.

[the] heart of A righteous [person] it considers to answer and [the] mouth of wicked [people] it pours forth evil things.

٢٩ 29 الرَّبُّ بَعِيدٌ عَنِ الأَشْرَارِ، إِنَّمَا يَسْمَعُ صَلاةَ الأَبْرَارِ.

[is] far Yahweh from wicked [people] and [the] prayer of righteous [people] he hears.

٣٠ 30 الْبَهْجَةُ الْمُتَأَلِّقَةُ فِي الْعَيْنَيْنِ تُفْرِحُ قَلْبَ الصِّدِّيقِ، وَالْخَبَرُ الطَّيِّبُ يُنْعِشُ النَّفْسَ.

Light of eyes it makes glad a heart a report good it fattens [the] bone[s].

٣١ 31 ذُو الأُذُنِ الْمُسْتَمِعَةِ إِلَى التَّوْبِيخِ الْمُحْيِي يَمْكُثُ بَيْنَ الْحُكَمَاءِ.

An ear [which] hears correction of life in [the] midst of wise [people] it will remain.

٣٢ 32 مَنْ يَتَجَاهَلُ التَّأْدِيبَ يَحْتَقِرُ نَفْسَهُ، وَمَنْ يَسْتَجِيبُ لَهُ يَقْتَنِي فَهْماً.

[one who] ignores Discipline [is] rejecting self his and [one who] heeds correction [is] acquiring heart.

٣٣ 33 تَقْوَى الرَّبِّ تَأْدِيبُ حِكْمَةٍ، وَقَبْلَ الْحُظْوَةِ بِالْكَرَامَةِ يَكُونُ التَّوَاضُعُ.

[the] fear of Yahweh [is the] correction of wisdom and [is] before honor humility.
