مَتَّى 25
| حِينَئِذٍ يُشَبَّهُ مَلَكُوتُ السَّمَاوَاتِ بِعَشْرِ عَذَارَى أَخَذْنَ مَصَابِيحَهُنَّ وَانْطَلَقْنَ لِمُلاقَاةِ الْعَرِيسِ. | ١ 1 |
“Then the kingdom of the heavens will be like ten virgins who, taking their lamps, went out to meet the bridegroom.
| وَكَانَتْ خَمْسٌ مِنْهُنَّ حَكِيمَاتٍ، وَخَمْسٌ جَاهِلاتٍ. | ٢ 2 |
Now five of them were prudent and five foolish.
| فَأَخَذَتِ الْجَاهِلاتُ مَصَابِيحَهُنَّ دُونَ زَيْتٍ. | ٣ 3 |
Those who were foolish, taking their lamps, did not take [extra] oil with them,
| وَأَمَّا الْحَكِيمَاتُ، فَأَخَذْنَ مَعَ مَصَابِيحِهِنَّ زَيْتاً وَضَعْنَهُ فِي أَوْعِيَةٍ. | ٤ 4 |
but the prudent ones took oil in their vessels along with their lamps.
| وَإِذْ أَبْطَأَ الْعَرِيسُ، نَعَسْنَ جَمِيعاً وَنِمْنَ. | ٥ 5 |
Now while the bridegroom delayed they all dozed and slept,
| وَفِي مُنْتَصَفِ اللَّيْلِ، دَوَّى الْهُتَافُ: هَا هُوَ الْعَرِيسُ آتٍ؛ فَانْطَلِقْنَ لِمُلاقَاتِهِ! | ٦ 6 |
but at midnight there was a shout: ‘Attention! The bridegroom is coming; go out to meet him.’
| فَنَهَضَتِ الْعَذَارَى جَمِيعاً وَجَهَّزْنَ مَصَابِيحَهُنَّ. | ٧ 7 |
Then all those virgins got up and trimmed their lamps.
| وَقَالَتِ الْجَاهِلاتُ لِلْحَكِيمَاتِ: أَعْطِينَنَا بَعْضَ الزَّيْتِ مِنْ عِنْدِكُنَّ، فَإِنَّ مَصَابِيحَنَا تَنْطَفِئُ! | ٨ 8 |
And the foolish ones said to the prudent, ‘Give us some of your oil, because our lamps are going out.’
| فَأَجَابَتِ الْحَكِيمَاتُ: رُبَّمَا لَا يَكْفِي لَنَا وَلَكُنَّ. فَاذْهَبْنَ بِالأَحْرَى إِلَى بَائِعِي الزَّيْتِ وَاشْتَرِينَ لَكُنَّ! | ٩ 9 |
But the prudent ones answered saying, ‘No, in case there not be enough for you and us; instead, go to those who sell and buy for yourselves.’
| وَبَيْنَمَا الْعَذَارَى الْجَاهِلاتُ ذَاهِبَاتٌ لِلشِّرَاءِ، وَصَلَ الْعَرِيسُ، فَدَخَلَتِ الْعَذَارَى الْمُسْتَعِدَّاتُ مَعَهُ إِلَى قَاعَةِ الْعُرْسِ، وَأُغْلِقَ الْبَابُ. | ١٠ 10 |
But while they went to buy, the bridegroom arrived, and the ones who were ready went in with him to the marriage feast—and the door was shut!
| وَبَعْدَ حِينٍ، رَجَعَتِ الْعَذَارَى الأُخْرَيَاتُ، وَقُلْنَ: يَا سَيِّدُ، يَا سَيِّدُ، افْتَحْ لَنَا! | ١١ 11 |
Later the other virgins arrived too saying, ‘Lord, lord, open for us!’
| فَأَجَابَ الْعَرِيسُ: الْحَقَّ أَقُولُ لَكُنَّ: إِنِّي لَا أَعْرِفُكُنَّ! | ١٢ 12 |
But in answer he said, ‘Assuredly I say to you, I do not know you.’
| فَاسْهَرُوا إِذَنْ، لأَنَّكُمْ لَا تَعْرِفُونَ الْيَوْمَ وَلا السَّاعَةَ! | ١٣ 13 |
Therefore, keep alert, because you do not know the day nor the hour in which the Son of the Man is coming.
| فَذَلِكَ أَشْبَهُ بِإِنْسَانٍ مُسَافِرٍ، اسْتَدْعَى عَبِيدَهُ وَسَلَّمَهُمْ أَمْوَالَهُ، | ١٤ 14 |
“Because the kingdom is also like a man about to go on a long journey, who called his own servants and entrusted his possessions to them.
| فَأَعْطَى وَاحِداً مِنْهُمْ خَمْسَ وَزْنَاتٍ (مِنَ الْفِضَّةِ)، وَأَعْطَى آخَرَ وَزْنَتَيْنِ، وَأَعْطَى الثَّالِثَ وَزْنَةً وَاحِدَةً، كُلَّ وَاحِدٍ عَلَى قَدْرِ طَاقَتِهِ، ثُمَّ سَافَرَ. | ١٥ 15 |
To one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one, to each according to his own ability; and immediately he went on the journey.
| وَفِي الْحَالِ مَضَى الَّذِي أَخَذَ الْوَزْنَاتِ الْخَمْسَ وَتَاجَرَ بِها، فَرَبِحَ خَمْسَ وَزْنَاتٍ أُخْرَى. | ١٦ 16 |
So the one who received the five talents went and traded with them, and made another five talents.
| وَعَمِلَ مِثْلَهُ الَّذِي أَخَذَ الوَزْنَتَيْنِ، فَرَبِحَ وَزْنَتَيْنِ أُخْرَيَيْنِ. | ١٧ 17 |
So also the one who received the two gained another two as well.
| وَلَكِنَّ الَّذِي أَخَذَ الْوَزْنَةَ الْوَاحِدَةَ، مَضَى وَحَفَرَ حُفْرَةً فِي الأَرْضِ وَدَفَنَ مَالَ سَيِّدِهِ. | ١٨ 18 |
But he who received the one went off and dug in the ground and hid his lord's silver.
| وَبَعْدَ مُدَّةٍ طَوِيلَةٍ، رَجَعَ سَيِّدُ أُولئِكَ الْعَبِيدِ وَاسْتَدْعَاهُمْ لِيُحَاسِبَهُمْ. | ١٩ 19 |
“Then, after a long time, the lord of those servants comes and settles accounts with them.
| فَجَاءَهُ الَّذِي أَخَذَ الْوَزْنَاتِ الْخَمْسَ، وَقَدَّمَ الْوَزْنَاتِ الْخَمْسَ الأُخْرَى، وَقَالَ: يَا سَيِّدُ، أَنْتَ سَلَّمْتَنِي خَمْسَ وَزْنَاتٍ، فَهَذِهِ خَمْسُ وَزْنَاتٍ غَيْرُهَا رَبِحْتُهَا! | ٢٠ 20 |
“So the one who had received the five talents approached and brought five more talents saying, ‘Lord, you entrusted five talents to me; see, I gained five more talents besides them!’
| فَقَالَ لَهُ سَيِّدُهُ: حَسَناً فَعَلْتَ أَيُّهَا الْعَبْدُ الصَّالِحُ وَالأَمِينُ! كُنْتَ أَمِيناً عَلَى الْقَلِيلِ، فَسَأُقِيمُكَ عَلَى الْكَثِيرِ. اُدْخُلْ إِلَى فَرَحِ سَيِّدِكَ! | ٢١ 21 |
His lord said to him: ‘Super, you good and faithful servant! You were faithful over a few things, I will put you in charge of many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.’
| ثُمَّ جَاءَهُ أَيْضاً الَّذِي أَخَذَ الْوَزْنَتَيْنِ وَقَالَ: يَا سَيِّدُ أَنْتَ سَلَّمْتَنِي وَزْنَتَيْنِ، فَهَاتَانِ وَزْنَتَانِ غَيْرُهُمَا رَبِحْتُهُمَا! | ٢٢ 22 |
So the one who had received the two talents also approached and said, ‘Lord, you entrusted two talents to me; see, I gained two more talents besides them!’
| فَقَالَ لَهُ سَيِّدُهُ: حَسَناً فَعَلْتَ أَيُّهَا الْعَبْدُ الصَّالِحُ وَالأَمِينُ! كُنْتَ أَمِيناً عَلَى الْقَلِيلِ، فَسَأُقِيمُكَ عَلَى الْكَثِيرِ. اُدْخُلْ إِلَى فَرَحِ سَيِّدِكَ! | ٢٣ 23 |
His lord said to him: ‘Super, you good and faithful servant! You were faithful over a few things, I will put you in charge of many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.’
| ثُمَّ جَاءَهُ أَيْضاً الَّذِي أَخَذَ الْوَزْنَةَ الْوَاحِدَةَ، وَقَالَ: يَا سَيِّدُ، عَرَفْتُكَ رَجُلاً قَاسِياً، تَحْصُدُ مِنْ حَيْثُ لَمْ تَزْرَعْ، وَتَجْمَعُ مِنْ حَيْثُ لَمْ تَبْذُرْ، | ٢٤ 24 |
“Then he who had received the one talent also approached and said: ‘Lord, I knew that you are a hard man, reaping where you did not sow and gathering where you did not scatter.
| فَخِفْتُ، فَذَهَبْتُ وَدَفَنْتَ وَزْنَتَكَ فِي الأَرْضِ. فَهَذَا هُوَ مَالُكَ! | ٢٥ 25 |
And being afraid I went off and hid your talent in the ground; here, take what is yours.’
| فَأَجَابَهُ سَيِّدُهُ: أَيُّهَا الْعَبْدُ الشِّرِّيرُ الْكَسُولُ! عَرَفْتَ أَنِّي أَحْصُدُ مِنْ حَيْثُ لَمْ أَزْرَعْ، وَأَجْمَعُ مِنْ حَيْثُ لَمْ أَبْذُرْ، | ٢٦ 26 |
So in answer his lord said to him: ‘You wicked and lazy servant! You knew that I reap where I did not sow and gather where I did not scatter.
| فَكَانَ يَحْسُنُ بِكَ أَنْ تُوْدِعَ مَالِي عِنْدَ الصَّيَارِفَةِ لِكَيْ أَسْتَرِدَّهُ لَدَى عَوْدَتِي مَعَ فَائِدَتِهِ! | ٢٧ 27 |
Therefore you were obligated to deposit my money with the bankers, and at my coming I would have received what is mine with interest.
| ثُمَّ قَالَ لِعَبِيدِهِ: خُذُوا مِنْهُ الْوَزْنَةَ، وَأَعْطُوهَا لِصَاحِبِ الْوَزْنَاتِ الْعَشْرِ: | ٢٨ 28 |
Therefore, take the talent away from him and give it to the one having the ten talents.
| فَإِنَّ كُلَّ مَنْ عِنْدَهُ، يُعْطَى الْمَزِيدَ فَيَفِيضُ؛ وَمَنْ لَيْسَ عِنْدَهُ، فَحَتَّى الَّذِي عِنْدَهُ يُنْتَزَعُ مِنْهُ. | ٢٩ 29 |
For to everyone who has, more will be given, and he will have abundance; but the one who does not have, even what he thinks that he has will be taken away from him.
| أَمَّا هَذَا الْعَبْدُ الَّذِي لَا نَفْعَ مِنْهُ، فَاطْرَحُوهُ فِي الظُّلْمَةِ الْخَارِجِيَّةِ، هُنَاكَ يَكُونُ البُكَاءُ وَصَرِيرُ الأَسْنَانِ! | ٣٠ 30 |
And throw out the useless servant, into the darkness farthest out!’ There, there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
| وَعِنْدَمَا يَعُودُ ابْنُ الإِنْسَانِ فِي مَجْدِهِ وَمَعَهُ جَمِيعُ مَلائِكَتِهِ، فَإِنَّهُ يَجْلِسُ عَلَى عَرْشِ مَجْدِهِ، | ٣١ 31 |
“When the Son of the Man comes in His glory, and all the holy angels with Him, then He will sit on His throne of glory.
| وَتَجْتَمِعُ أَمَامَهُ الشُّعُوبُ كُلُّهَا، فَيَفْصِلُ بَعْضَهُمْ عَنْ بَعْضٍ كَمَا يَفْصِلُ الرَّاعِي الْغَنَمَ عَنِ الْمِعَازِ، | ٣٢ 32 |
And all the nations will be gathered before Him, and He will separate them one from another, just as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats.
| فَيُوقِفُ الْغَنَمَ عَنْ يَمِينِهِ، وَالْمِعَازِ عَنْ يَسَارِهِ؛ | ٣٣ 33 |
And the sheep He will place on His right, but the goats on His left.
| ثُمَّ يَقُولُ الْمَلِكُ لِلَّذِينَ عَنْ يَمِينِهِ: تَعَالَوْا يَا مَنْ بَارَكَهُمْ أَبِي، رِثُوا الْمَلَكُوتَ الَّذِي أُعِدَّ لَكُمْ مُنْذُ إِنْشَاءِ الْعَالَمِ: | ٣٤ 34 |
Then the King will say to those on His right: ‘Come, you blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom that was prepared for you at the foundation of the world.
| لأَنِّي جُعْتُ فَأَطْعَمْتُمُونِي، عَطِشْتُ فَسَقَيْتُمُونِي، كُنْتُ غَرِيباً فَآوَيْتُمُونِي، | ٣٥ 35 |
For I was hungry and you gave me food; I was thirsty and you gave me drink; I was a stranger and you took me in;
| عُرْيَاناً فَكَسَوْتُمُونِي، مَرِيضاً فَزُرْتُمُونِي، سَجِيناً فَأَتَيْتُمْ إِلَيَّ! | ٣٦ 36 |
I was naked and you clothed me; I was sick and you visited me; I was in prison and you came to me.’
| فَيَرُدُّ الصَّالِحونَ قَائِلِينَ: يَا رَبُّ، مَتَى رَأَيْنَاكَ جَائِعاً فَأَطْعَمْنَاكَ، أَوْ عَطْشَاناً فَسَقَيْنَاكَ؟ | ٣٧ 37 |
Then the righteous will answer Him saying: ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you drink?
| وَمَتَى رَأَيْنَاكَ غَرِيباً فَآوَيْنَاكَ، أَوْ عُرْيَاناً فَكَسَوْنَاكَ؟ | ٣٨ 38 |
When did we see you a stranger and take you in, or naked and clothe you?
| وَمَتَى رَأَيْنَاكَ مَرِيضاً أَوْ سَجِيناً فَزُرْنَاكَ؟ | ٣٩ 39 |
Or when did we see you sick or in prison and come to you?’
| فَيُجِيبُهُمُ الْمَلِكُ: الْحَقَّ أَقُولُ لَكُمْ: بِمَا أَنَّكُمْ فَعَلْتُمْ ذَلِكَ بِأَحَدِ إِخْوَتِي هَؤُلاءِ الصِّغَارِ، فَبِي فَعَلْتُمْ! | ٤٠ 40 |
And in answer the King will say to them, ‘Assuredly I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.’
| ثُمَّ يَقُولُ لِلَّذِينَ عَنْ يَسَارِهِ: ابْتَعِدُوا عَنِّي يَا مَلاعِينُ إِلَى النَّارِ الأَبَدِيَّةِ الْمُعَدَّةِ لإِبْلِيسَ وَأَعْوَانِهِ! (aiōnios g166) | ٤١ 41 |
“Then He will also say to those on His left: ‘Go away from me, you accursed ones, into the eternal fire that was prepared for the devil and his angels. (aiōnios g166)
| لأَنِّي جُعْتُ فَلَمْ تُطْعِمُونِي، وَعَطِشْتُ فَلَمْ تَسْقُونِي، | ٤٢ 42 |
For I was hungry and you did not give me food; I was thirsty and you did not give me drink;
| كُنْتُ غَرِيباً فَلَمْ تَأْوُونِي، عُرْيَاناً فَلَمْ تَكْسُونِي، مَرِيضاً وَسَجِيناً فَلَمْ تَزُورُونِي! | ٤٣ 43 |
I was a stranger and you did not take me in; I was naked and you did not clothe me; I was sick and in prison and you did not visit me.’
| فَيَرُدُّ هَؤُلاءِ أَيْضاً قَائِلِينَ: يَا رَبُّ، مَتَى رَأَيْنَاكَ جَائِعاً أَوْ عَطْشَاناً أَوْ غَرِيباً أَوْ عُرْيَاناً أَوْ مَرِيضاً أَوْ سَجِيناً، وَلَمْ نَخْدِمْكَ؟ | ٤٤ 44 |
Then they also will answer saying, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison and did not minister to you?’
| فَيُجِيبُهُمْ: الْحَقَّ أَقُولُ لَكُمْ: بِمَا أَنَّكُمْ لَمْ تَفْعَلُوا ذَلِكَ بِأَحَدِ إِخْوَتِي هَؤُلاءِ الصِّغَارِ، فَبِي لَمْ تَفْعَلُوا! | ٤٥ 45 |
Then He will answer them saying, ‘Assuredly I say to you, inasmuch as you did not do it to one of the least of these, neither did you do it to me.’
