مَرْقُس 4

١ 1 ثُمَّ أَخَذَ يُعَلِّمُ ثَانِيَةً عِنْدَ شَاطِئِ الْبُحَيْرَةِ، وَقَدِ احْتَشَدَ حَوْلَهُ جَمْعٌ كَبِيرٌ، حَتَّى إِنَّهُ صَعِدَ إِلَى الْقَارِبِ وَجَلَسَ فِيهِ فَوْقَ الْمَاءِ، فِيمَا كَانَ الْجَمْعُ كُلُّهُ عَلَى شَاطِئِ الْبُحَيْرَةِ.

Once again He began to teach beside the sea. And a large crowd was gathered to Him, so that He got into the boat and sat down, out on the water, while the whole crowd was on the land, at the water's edge.

٢ 2 فَعَلَّمَهُمْ أُمُوراً كَثِيرَةً بِالأَمْثَالِ. وَمِمَّا قَالَهُ لَهُمْ فِي تَعْلِيمِهِ:

Then He began teaching them many things by parables and said to them in His teaching:

٣ 3 «اِسْمَعُوا! هَا إِنَّ الزَّارِعَ قَدْ خَرَجَ لِيَزْرَعَ.

“Listen! Yes, a sower went out to sow.

٤ 4 وَبَيْنَمَا هُوَ يَزْرَعُ، وَقَعَ بَعْضُ الْبِذَارِ عَلَى الْمَمَرَّاتِ، فَجَاءَتِ الطُّيُورُ وَالْتَهَمَتْهُ.

And it happened, as he sowed, that some seed fell along the path, and the birds came and devoured it.

٥ 5 وَوَقَعَ بَعْضُهُ عَلَى أَرْضٍ صَخْرِيَّةٍ رَقِيقَةِ التُّرْبَةِ، فَنَمَا سَرِيعاً لأَنَّ تُرْبَتَهُ لَمْ تَكُنْ عَمِيقَةً.

Some fell on the rocky area where it did not have much soil, and it sprang up quickly because it had no depth of soil.

٦ 6 وَلكِنْ لَمَّا أَشْرَقَتِ الشَّمْسُ، احْتَرَقَ وَيَبِسَ لأَنَّهُ كَانَ بِلا أَصْلٍ.

But upon the sun's rising it was scorched, and because it had no root it was withered up.

٧ 7 وَوَقَعَ بَعْضُ الْبِذَارِ بَيْنَ الأَشْوَاكِ، فَنَبَتَ الشَّوْكُ وَخَنَقَهُ، فَلَمْ يُثْمِرْ.

And some fell among the thorns, and the thorns grew up and smothered it, and it yielded no fruit.

٨ 8 وَبَعْضُ الْبِذَارِ وَقَعَ فِي الأَرْضِ الْجَيِّدَةِ، فَنَبَتَ وَنَمَا وَأَثْمَرَ، فَأَعْطَى بَعْضُهُ ثَلاثِينَ ضِعْفاً، وَبَعْضُهُ سِتِّينَ، وَبَعْضُهُ مِئَةً».

And some fell into the good ground, and coming up and growing it started to produce fruit—yielding thirty times as much, sixty times as much, even a hundred times as much.”

٩ 9 ثُمَّ قَالَ: «مَنْ لَهُ أُذُنَانِ لِلسَّمْعِ، فَلْيَسْمَعْ!»

Then He said, “He who has ears to hear, let him hear!”

١٠ 10 وَعِنْدَمَا كَانَ يَسُوعُ وَحْدَهُ، سَأَلَهُ الَّذِينَ حَوْلَهُ وَالاِثْنَا عَشَرَ عَنْ مَغْزَى الْمَثَلِ.

But when He was alone, those who were around Him, with the twelve, asked Him about the parable.

١١ 11 فَقَالَ لَهُمْ: «قَدْ أُعْطِيَ لَكُمْ أَنْ تَعْرِفُوا سِرَّ مَلَكُوتِ اللهِ. أَمَّا الَّذِينَ مِنْ خَارِجٍ، فَكُلُّ شَيْءٍ يُقَدَّمُ لَهُمْ بِالأَمْثَالِ،

So He said to them: “To you it has been given to know the mystery of the Kingdom of God; but to those who are outside, everything is being given in parables,

١٢ 12 حَتَّى إِنَّهُمْ: نَظَراً يَنْظُرُونَ وَلا يُبْصِرُونَ، وَسَمْعاً يَسْمَعُونَ وَلا يَفْهَمُونَ، لِئَلّا يَتُوبُوا فَتُغْفَرَ لَهُمْ خَطَايَاهُمْ!»

so that: ‘Seeing they may see, and not perceive; and hearing they may hear, and not understand; so that they should not return and their sins be forgiven them.’”

١٣ 13 وَقَالَ لَهُمْ: «أَلَمْ تَفْهَمُوا هَذَا الْمَثَلَ؟ فَكَيْفَ تَفْهَمُونَ جَمِيعَ الأَمْثَالِ الأُخْرَى؟

Then He said to them: “Don't you understand this parable? How then will you understand all the parables?

١٤ 14 إِنَّ الزَّارِعَ يَزْرَعُ كَلِمَةَ اللهِ.

The sower sows the Word.

١٥ 15 وَهؤُلاءِ الَّذِينَ عَلَى الْمَمَرَّاتِ حَيْثُ تُزْرَعُ الْكَلِمَةُ، هُمُ الَّذِينَ حَالَمَا يَسْمَعُونَ يَأْتِي الشَّيْطَانُ وَيَخْطَفُ الْكَلِمَةَ الَّتِي زُرِعَتْ فِيهِمْ.

These are the ones where the Word is sown along the path: as soon as they hear it, Satan comes and takes away the Word that was sown in their hearts.

١٦ 16 وَكَذلِكَ هؤُلاءِ الَّذِينَ تُزْرَعُ فِيهِمِ الكَلِمَةُ عَلَى أَرْضٍ صَخْرِيَّةٍ، وَهُمُ الَّذِينَ حَالَمَا يَسْمَعُونَ الْكَلِمَةَ يَقْبَلُونَهَا بِفَرَحٍ،

Similarly, these are the ones sown on the rocky area: as soon as they hear the Word they receive it with joy,

١٧ 17 وَلا أَصْلَ لَهُمْ فِي ذَوَاتِهِمْ، وَإِنَّمَا هُمْ إِلَى حِينٍ. فَحَالَمَا يَحْدُثُ ضِيقٌ أَوِ اضْطِهَادٌ مِنْ أَجْلِ الْكَلِمَةِ، يَتَعَثَّرُونَ.

but since they have no root in themselves they are temporary—when oppression or persecution comes because of the Word, they quickly fall away.

١٨ 18 وَالآخَرُونَ الَّذِينَ تُزْرَعُ فِيهِمِ الْكَلِمَةُ بَيْنَ الأَشْوَاكِ، هؤُلاءِ هُمُ الَّذِينَ قَدْ سَمِعُوا الْكَلِمَةَ،

And these are the ones sown among the thorns: they hear the Word,

١٩ 19 وَلكِنَّ هُمُومَ الزَّمَانِ الْحَاضِرِ وَخِدَاعَ الْغِنَى وَاشْتِهَاءَ الأُمُورِ الأُخْرَى، تَدْخُلُ إِلَيْهِمْ وَتَخْنُقُ الْكَلِمَةَ، فَتَصِيرُ بِلا ثَمَرٍ. (aiōn g165)

but the worries of this age, the deceitfulness of wealth, and the undue desires for other things come in and smother the Word, and it becomes unfruitful. (aiōn g165)

٢٠ 20 وَأَمَّا الَّذِينَ تُزْرَعُ فِيهِمِ الْكَلِمَةُ فِي الأَرْضِ الْجَيِّدَةِ، فَهؤُلاءِ هُمُ الَّذِينَ يَسْمَعُونَ الْكَلِمَةَ وَيَقْبَلُونَهَا فَيُثْمِرُونَ، بَعْضُهُمْ ثَلاثِينَ ضِعْفاً وَبَعْضُهُمْ سِتِّينَ، وَبَعْضُهُمْ مِئَةً».

And these are the ones sown on the good ground: such people hear the Word, welcome it and produce fruit—thirty times as much, sixty times as much, even a hundred times as much.”

٢١ 21 وَقَالَ لَهُمْ: «هَلْ يُؤْتَى بِالْمِصْبَاحِ لِيُوْضَعَ تَحْتَ الْمِكْيَالِ أَوْ تَحْتَ السَّرِيرِ؟ أَلَيْسَ لِيُوْضَعَ عَلَى الْمَنَارَةِ؟

Also He said to them: “The lamp is not brought to be put under a box or under a bed, is it? Is it not to be placed on its stand?

٢٢ 22 فَلَيْسَ مَخْفِيُّ إِلّا وَيُكْشَفُ، وَمَا كُتِمَ شَيْءٌ إِلا لِيُعْلَنَ!

For there is no ‘hidden’ that may not be exposed, nor has anything been concealed but that it should come to light.

٢٣ 23 مَنْ لَهُ أُذُنَانِ لِلسَّمْعِ، فَلْيَسْمَعْ!»

If anyone has ears to hear, let him hear!”

٢٤ 24 وَقَالَ لَهُمْ: «تَنَبَّهُوا لِمَا تَسْمَعُونَ. فَبِأَيِّ كَيْلٍ تَكِيلُونَ، يُكَالُ لَكُمْ وَيُزَادُ لَكُمْ.

Then He said to them: “Pay attention to what you hear. With the same measure you use it will be measured to you in return; and to you who hear, more will be added.

٢٥ 25 فَإِنَّ مَنْ عِنْدَهُ يُعْطَى الْمَزِيدُ، وَمَنْ لَيْسَ عِنْدَهُ، فَحَتَّى الَّذِي عِنْدَهُ يُنْتَزَعُ مِنْهُ».

Because whoever has, to him more will be given; whoever does not have, even what he has will be taken away from him.”

٢٦ 26 وَقَالَ: «إِنَّ مَلَكُوتَ اللهِ يُشَبَّهُ بِإِنْسَانٍ يُلْقِي الْبِذَارَ عَلَى الأَرْضِ،

He also said: “The Kingdom of God is as if a man should scatter the seed on the ground

٢٧ 27 ثُمَّ يَنَامُ لَيْلاً وَيَقُومُ نَهَاراً فِيمَا الْبِذَارُ يَطْلُعُ وَيَنْمُو، وَهُوَ لَا يَدْرِي كَيْفَ يَحْدُثُ الأَمْرُ.

and should sleep and get up night and day, and the seed should sprout and grow, he himself does not know how.

٢٨ 28 فَالأَرْضُ مِنْ ذَاتِهَا تُعْطِي الثَّمَرَ، فَتُطْلِعُ أَوَّلاً عُشْبَةً، ثُمَّ سُنْبُلَةً، ثُمَّ قَمْحاً مِلْءَ السُّنْبُلَةِ.

All by itself the earth produces fruit: first a shoot, then a head of grain, then full grain in the head.

٢٩ 29 وَلَكِنْ حَالَمَا يَنْضُجُ الثَّمَرُ، يُعْمِلُ فِيهِ الْمِنْجَلَ إِذْ يَكُونُ الْحَصَادُ قَدْ حَانَ».

But as soon as the grain is ready, he sends in the sickle, because the harvest has come.”

٣٠ 30 وَقَالَ: «بِمَاذَا نُشَبِّهُ مَلَكُوتَ اللهِ، وَبِأَيِّ مَثَلٍ نُمَثِّلُهُ؟

Again He said: “To what shall we compare the Kingdom of God, or with what sort of parable should we illustrate it?

٣١ 31 إِنَّهُ يُشَبَّهُ بِبِزْرَةِ خَرْدَلٍ، تَكُونُ عِنْدَ بَذْرِهَا عَلَى الأَرْضِ أَصْغَرَ مِنْ كُلِّ مَا عَلَى الأَرْضِ مِنْ بُزُورٍ،

It is like a mustard seed, that when it is sown on the ground is the smallest of all such seeds,

٣٢ 32 وَلَكِنْ مَتَى تَمَّ زَرْعُهَا، تُطْلِعُ أَغْصَاناً كَبِيرَةً، حَتَّى إِنَّ طُيُورَ السَّمَاءِ تَسْتَطِيعُ أَنْ تَبِيتَ فِي ظِلِّهَا».

yet when it is sown, it grows up and becomes larger than all the garden herbs and produces big branches, so that the birds of the air are able to rest in its shade.”

٣٣ 33 بِكَثِيرٍ مِنْ مِثْلِ هذِهِ الأَمْثَالِ كَانَ يَسُوعُ يُكَلِّمُ الْجَمْعَ بِالْكَلِمَةِ، عَلَى قَدْرِ مَا كَانُوا يُطِيقُونَ أَنْ يَسْمَعُوا.

It was with many such parables that He was speaking the word to them, as they were able to hear it.

٣٤ 34 وَبِغَيْرِ مَثَلٍ لَمْ يَكُنْ يُكَلِّمُهُمْ. وَلكِنَّهُ كَانَ يُفَسِّرُ لِتَلامِيذِهِ كُلَّ شَيْءٍ حِينَ يَنْفَرِدُ بِهِمْ.

But apart from a parable He did not speak to them; privately, however, He would explain everything to His disciples.

٣٥ 35 وَفِي ذلِكَ الْيَوْمِ، عِنْدَمَا حَلَّ الْمَسَاءُ، قَالَ لِتَلامِيذِهِ: «لِنَعْبُرْ إِلَى الضَّفَّةِ الْمُقَابِلَةِ!»

On the same day, when evening had come, He said to them, “Let us go across to the other side.”

٣٦ 36 فَلَمَّا صَرَفُوا الْجَمْعَ، أَخَذُوهُ مَعَهُمْ فِي الْقَارِبِ الَّذِي كَانَ فِيهِ. وَكَانَ مَعَهُ أَيْضاً قَوَارِبُ أُخْرَى.

Since He was already in the boat, they took off with Him, leaving the crowd behind (other little boats were also with Him).

٣٧ 37 فَهَبَّتْ عَاصِفَةُ رِيحٍ شَدِيدَةٌ، وَأَخَذَتِ الأَمْوَاجُ تَضْرِبُ الْقَارِبَ حَتَّى كَادَ يَمْتَلِىءُ مَاءً.

Well a strong cyclonic wind came up, such that the waves beat into the boat, so that it was already filling up.

٣٨ 38 وَكَانَ هُوَ فِي مُؤَخَّرِ الْقَارِبِ نَائِماً عَلَى وِسَادَةٍ. فَأَيْقَظُوهُ وَقَالُوا لَهُ: «يَا مُعَلِّمُ، أَمَا يَهُمُّكَ أَنَّنَا نَهْلِكُ؟»

But He was on the poop deck, sleeping on the cushion; so they awakened Him and said to Him, “Teacher, don't you care that we are perishing?”

٣٩ 39 فَنَهَضَ، وَزَجَرَ الرِّيحَ، وَقَالَ لِلْبَحْرِ: «اصْمُتْ. اِخْرَسْ!» فَسَكَنَتِ الرِّيحُ وَسَادَ هُدُوءٌ تَامٌّ.

Then, having been awakened, He rebuked the wind and said to the sea, “Shut up; be muzzled!” So the wind stopped and there was a complete calm.

٤٠ 40 ثُمَّ قَالَ لَهُمْ: «لِمَاذَا أَنْتُمْ خَائِفُونَ هكَذَا؟ كَيْفَ لَا إِيْمَانَ لَكُمْ؟»

And He said to them: “Why are you so afraid? How is it that you have no faith?”

٤١ 41 فَخَافُوا خَوْفاً شَدِيداً، وَقَالَ بَعْضُهُمْ لِبَعْضٍ: «مَنْ هُوَ هَذَا، حَتَّى إِنَّ الرِّيحَ وَالْبَحْرَ يُطِيعَانِهِ؟»

They were terrified and started saying to one another, “Who can this be, that even the wind and the sea obey Him!?”
