يَشُوع 14

١ 1 وَأَوْرَثَ أَلِعَازَارُ الْكَاهِنُ وَيَشُوعُ بْنُ نُونَ وَقَادَةُ الشَّعْبِ أَبْنَاءَ إِسْرَائِيلَ الأَرَاضِي الَّتِي اسْتَوْلَوْا عَلَيْهَا فِي كَنْعَانَ

And these [are] they of the sons of Israel who inherited in the land of Canaan, whom Eleazar the priest, and Joshua son of Nun, and the heads of the fathers of the tribes of the sons of Israel, caused to inherit;

٢ 2 وَتَمَّ تَوْزِيعُهَا عَلَى التِّسْعَةِ الأَسْبَاطِ وَنِصْفِ السِّبْطِ بِالْقُرْعَةِ بِمُوْجِبِ مَا أَمَرَ الرَّبُّ بِهِ عَلَى لِسَانِ مُوسَى

their inheritance [is] by lot, as YHWH commanded by the hand of Moses, for the nine tribes and the half-tribe;

٣ 3 إِذْ إِنَّ مُوسَى كَانَ قَدْ وَهَبَ السِّبْطَيْنِ وَنِصْفَ السِّبْطِ مِيرَاثاً فِي شَرْقِيِّ نَهْرِ الأُرْدُنِّ، وَأَمَّا اللّاوِيُّونَ فَلَمْ يُوَرِّثْهُمْ نَصِيباً بَيْنَهُمْ،

for Moses has given the inheritance of two of the tribes, and of half of the tribe, beyond the Jordan, and he has not given an inheritance to the Levites in their midst;

٤ 4 لأَنَّ ذُرِّيَّةَ يُوسُفَ كَانَتْ تَنْتَمِي إِلَى سِبْطَيْ مَنَسَّى وَأَفْرَايِمَ، أَمَّا اللّاوِيُّونَ فَلَمْ يُوَزِّعْ مُوسَى عَلَيْهِمْ أَرْضاً وَلَمْ يُوَرِّثْهُمْ سِوَى مُدُنٍ يُقِيمُونَ فِيهَا وَمَرَاعٍ مُجَاوِرَةٍ لِرَعْيِ مَوَاشِيهِمْ وَبَهَائِمِهِمْ.

for the sons of Joseph have been two tribes, Manasseh and Ephraim, and they have not given a portion to the Levites in the land, except cities to dwell in, and their outskirts for their livestock, and for their possessions;

٥ 5 وَهَكَذَا قَسَمَ بَنُو إِسْرَائِيلَ الأَرْضَ طِبْقاً لأَمْرِ الرَّبِّ لِمُوسَى.

as YHWH commanded Moses, so the sons of Israel have done, and they apportion the land.

٦ 6 وَأَقْبَلَ وَفْدٌ مِنْ سِبْطِ يَهُوذَا عَلَى يَشُوعَ فِي الْجِلْجَالِ، وَقَالَ لَهُ كَالَبُ بْنُ يَفُنَّةَ الْقَنِزِّيُّ: «أَنْتَ تَذْكُرُ مَا خَاطَبَ بِهِ الرَّبُّ مُوسَى رَجُلَ اللهِ بِشَأْنِي وَشَأْنِكَ فِي قَادَشَ بَرْنِيعَ،

And the sons of Judah come near to Joshua in Gilgal, and Caleb son of Jephunneh the Kenezzite says to him, “You have known the word that YHWH has spoken to Moses, the man of God, concerning me and concerning you in Kadesh-Barnea:

٧ 7 فَقَدْ كُنْتُ فِي الأَرْبَعِينَ مِنْ عُمْرِي حِينَ أَرْسَلَنِي مُوسَى عَبْدُ الرَّبِّ، مِنْ قَادَشَ بَرْنِيعَ لأَتَجَسَّسَ الأَرْضَ، فَعُدْتُ إِلَيْهِ وَأَنْبَأْتُهُ بِمَا كَانَ قَلْبِي مُقْتَنِعاً بِهِ.

I [was] a son of forty years in Moses, servant of YHWH, sending me from Kadesh-Barnea, to spy out the land, and I bring him back word as with my heart;

٨ 8 أَمَّا إِخْوَتِي الَّذِينَ ذَهَبُوا مَعِي فَقَدْ مَلَأُوا قَلْبَ الشَّعْبِ رُعْباً بِأَخْبَارِهِمْ عَنْ أَهْلِ أَرْضِ الْمَوْعِدِ. لَكِنَّنِي اتَّبَعْتُ الرَّبَّ إِلَهِي مِنْ كُلِّ قَلْبِي.

and my brothers who have gone up with me have caused the heart of the people to melt, and I have been fully after my God YHWH;

٩ 9 لِذَلِكَ حَلَفَ مُوسَى فِي ذَلِكَ الْيَوْمِ قَائِلاً: إِنَّ الأَرْضَ الَّتِي وَطِئَتْهَا قَدَمَاكَ تَكُونُ لَكَ وَلأَوْلادِكَ نَصِيباً إِلَى الأَبَدِ، لأَنَّكَ اتَّبَعْتَ الرَّبَّ إِلَهِي مِنْ كُلِّ قَلْبِكَ.

and Moses swears in that day, saying, Nevertheless—the land on which your foot has trodden, it is to you for an inheritance, and to your sons—for all time, for you have been fully after my God YHWH.

١٠ 10 وَهَا الرَّبُّ قَدْ أَبْقَانِي عَلَى قَيْدِ الْحَيَاةِ، كَمَا وَعَدَ، خَمْسَةً وَأَرْبَعِينَ سَنَةً مُنْذُ أَنْ خَاطَبَ الرَّبُّ مُوسَى بِهَذَا الْكَلامِ حِينَ تَاهَ إِسْرَائِيلُ فِي الْقَفْرِ، فَأَصْبَحْتُ الآنَ فِي الْخَامِسَةِ وَالثَّمَانِينَ مِنْ عُمْرِي،

And now, behold, YHWH has kept me alive, as He has spoken, these forty-five years, since YHWH spoke this word to Moses when Israel went in the wilderness; and now, behold, I [am] a son of eighty-five years today;

١١ 11 وَلَمْ أَزَلْ مُتَمَتِّعاً بِالْقُوَّةِ كَالْعَهْدِ بِي عِنْدَمَا أَرْسَلَنِي لِتَجَسُّسِ الأَرْضِ، فَقُوَّتِي مَا بَرِحَتْ كَمَا هِيَ إِنْ لِلْحَرْبِ أَوْ لِلدُّخُولِ وَالْخُرُوجِ.

yet today I [am] strong as in the day of Moses’ sending me; as my power [was] then, so [is] my power now, for battle, and to go out, and to come in.

١٢ 12 وَالآنَ، هَبْنِي إِقْلِيمَ الْجَبَلِ الَّذِي تَكَلَّمَ عَنْهُ الرَّبُّ فِي ذَلِكَ الْيَوْمِ، لأَنَّكَ أَنْتَ بِنَفْسِكَ سَمِعْتَ آنَئِذٍ أَنَّ الْعَنَاقِيِّينَ كَانُوا هُنَاكَ، وَأَنَّ مُدُنَهُمْ ضَخْمَةٌ وَحَصِينَةٌ، لَعَلِّي أَطْرُدُهُمْ بِمَعُونَةِ الرَّبِّ كَمَا وَعَدَ».

And now, give this hill-country to me, of which YHWH spoke in that day, for you heard in that day, for Anakim [are] there, and great, fortified cities; if [it] so be [that] YHWH [is] with me, then I have dispossessed them, as YHWH has spoken.”

١٣ 13 فَبَارَكَهُ يَشُوعُ وَأَعْطَاهُ حَبْرُونَ مِلْكاً لَهُ.

And Joshua blesses him, and gives Hebron to Caleb son of Jephunneh for an inheritance,

١٤ 14 وَهَكَذَا وَرِثَ كَالَبُ بْنُ يَفُنَّةَ الْقَنِزِّيُّ حَبْرُونَ إِلَى هَذَا الْيَوْمِ، لأَنَّهُ اتَّبَعَ الرَّبَّ إِلَهَ إِسْرَائِيلَ مِنْ كُلِّ قَلْبِهِ.

therefore Hebron has been to Caleb son of Jephunneh the Kenezzite for an inheritance to this day, because that he was fully after YHWH, God of Israel;

١٥ 15 وَكَانَتْ حَبْرُونُ تُدْعَى مِنْ قَبْلُ قَرْيَةَ أَرْبَعَ عَلَى اسْمِ بَطَلِ الْعَنَاقِيِّينَ الأَعْظَمِ. ثُمَّ اسْتَرَاحَتِ الأَرْضُ مِنَ الْحَرْبِ.

and the name of Hebron [was] formerly Kirjath-Arba (the man [was] the greatest among the Anakim); and the land has rest from war.
