أيُّوب 8

١ 1 فَأَجَابَ بِلْدَدُ الشُّوحِيُّ:

Then answered Bildad the Shuhite, and said,

٢ 2 «إِلَى مَتَى تَظَلُّ تَتَكَلَّمُ بِهَذِهِ الأَقْوَالِ، فَتَخْرُجَ مِنْ فَمِكَ كَرِيحٍ شَدِيدَةٍ؟

How long wilt thou speak these things? and how long shall the words of thy mouth be like a strong wind?

٣ 3 أَيُحَرِّفُ اللهُ الْقَضَاءَ، أَمْ يَعْكِسُ الْقَدِيرُ مَا هُوَ حَقٌّ؟

Doth God pervert judgment? or doth the Almighty pervert justice?

٤ 4 إِنْ كَانَ أَبْنَاؤُكَ أَخْطَأُوا فَقَدْ أَوْقَعَ بِهِمْ جَزَاءَ مَعَاصِيهِمْ.

If thy children have sinned against him, and he hath cast them away for their transgression;

٥ 5 فَإِنْ أَسْرَعْتَ وَطَلَبْتَ وَجْهَ اللهِ وَتَضَرَّعْتَ إِلَى الْقَدِيرِ،

If thou wouldest seek to God early, and make thy supplication to the Almighty;

٦ 6 وَإِنْ كُنْتَ نَقِيًّا صَالِحاً، فَإِنَّهُ حَتْماً يَلْتَفِتُ إِلَيْكَ وَيُكَافِئُكَ بِمَسْكَنِ بِرٍّ.

If thou wert pure and upright; surely now he would awake for thee, and make the habitation of thy righteousness prosperous.

٧ 7 وَإِنْ تَكُنْ أُولاكَ مُتَوَاضِعَةً، فَإِنَّ آخِرَتَكَ تَكُونُ عَظِيمَةً جِدّاً.

Though thy beginning was small, yet thy latter end should greatly increase.

٨ 8 اسْأَلِ الأَجْيَالَ الْغَابِرَةَ، وَتَأَمَّلْ مَا اخْتَبَرَهُ الآبَاءُ،

For enquire, I pray thee, of the former age, and prepare thyself to the search of their fathers:

٩ 9 فَإِنَّنَا قَدْ وُلِدْنَا بِالأَمْسِ الْقَرِيبِ، وَلا نَعْرِفُ شَيْئاً، لأَنَّ أَيَّامَنَا عَلَى الأَرْضِ ظِلٌّ.

(For we are but of yesterday, and know nothing, because our days upon earth are a shadow: )

١٠ 10 أَلا يُعْلِمُونَكَ وَيُخْبِرُونَكَ وَيَبُثُّونَكَ مَا فِي نُفُوسِهِمْ قَائِلِينَ:

Shall they not teach thee, and tell thee, and utter words out of their heart?

١١ 11 أَيَنْمُو الْبَرْدِيُّ حَيْثُ لَا مُسْتَنْقَعَ، أَمْ تَنْبُتُ الْحَلْفَاءُ مِنْ غَيْرِ مَاءٍ؟

Can the rush grow without mire? can the flag grow without water?

١٢ 12 إِنَّهَا تَيْبَسُ قَبْلَ سَائِرِ الْعُشْبِ، وَهِيَ فِي نَضَارَتِهَا لَمْ تُقْطَعْ.

While it is still green, and not cut down, it withereth before any other herb.

١٣ 13 هَكَذَا يَكُونُ مَصِيرُ كُلِّ مَنْ يَنْسَى اللهَ، وَهَكَذَا يَخِيبُ رَجَاءُ الْفَاجِرِ.

So are the paths of all that forget God; and the hypocrite’s hope shall perish:

١٤ 14 يَنْهَارُ مَا يَعْتَمِدُ عَلَيْهِ، وَيُصْبِحُ مِثْلَ بَيْتِ الْعَنْكَبُوتِ.

Whose confidence shall be cut off, and whose trust shall be a spider’s web.

١٥ 15 يَتَّكِئُ عَلَيْهِ فَيَنْهَدِمُ، وَيَتَعَلَّقُ بِهِ فَلا يَثْبُتُ.

He shall lean upon his house, but it shall not stand: he shall hold it fast, but it shall not endure.

١٦ 16 يَزْدَهِرُ كَشَجَرَةٍ أَمَامَ الشَّمْسِ، تَنْتَشِرُ أَغْصَانُهَا فَوْقَ بُسْتَانِهَا.

He is green before the sun, and his branch shooteth forth in his garden.

١٧ 17 تَتَشَابَكُ أُصُولُهُ حَوْلَ كَوْمَةِ الْحِجَارَةِ، وَتَلْتَفُّ حَوْلَ الصُّخُورِ.

His roots are wrapped about the heap, and seeth the place of stones.

١٨ 18 وَلَكِنْ حَالَمَا يُسْتَأْصَلُ مِنْ مَوْضِعِهِ يُنْكِرُهُ مَكَانُهُ قَائِلاً:’مَا رَأَيْتُكَ قَطُّ!‘

If he shall be destroyed from his place, then it shall deny him, saying, I have not seen thee.

١٩ 19 هَكَذَا تَكُونُ بَهْجَةُ طَرِيقِهِ. وَلَكِنْ مِنَ التُّرَابِ يَأْتِي آخَرُونَ وَيأْخُذُونَ مَكَانَهُ.

Behold, this is the joy of his way, and out of the earth shall others grow.

٢٠ 20 إِنَّ اللهَ لَا يَنْبِذُ الإِنْسَانَ الْكَامِلَ وَلا يَمُدُّ يَدَ الْعَوْنِ لِفَاعِلِي الشَّرِّ.

Behold, God will not cast away a perfect man, neither will he help the evildoers:

٢١ 21 يَمْلأُ فَمَكَ ضَحِكاً وَشَفَتَيْكَ هُتَافاً،

Till he shall fill thy mouth with laughing, and thy lips with rejoicing.

٢٢ 22 عِنْدَئِذٍ يَرْتَدِي مُبْغِضُوكَ الْخِزْيَ، وَبَيْتُ الأَشْرَارِ يَنْهَارُ».

They that hate thee shall be clothed with shame; and the dwelling place of the wicked shall come to nought.
