أيُّوب 40

١ 1 وَاسْتَطْرَدَ الرَّبُّ قَائِلاً لأَيُّوبَ:

And the Lord God answered Job, and said,

٢ 2 «أَيُخَاصِمُ اللّائِمُ الْقَدِيرَ؟ لِيُجِبِ المُشْتَكِي عَلَى اللهِ».

Will [any one] pervert judgment with the Mighty One? and he that reproves God, let him return it for answer.

٣ 3 عِنْدَئِذٍ أَجَابَ أَيُّوبُ الرَّبَّ:

And Job answered and said to the Lord,

٤ 4 «انْظُرْ، أَنَا حَقِيرٌ فَبِمَاذَا أُجِيبُكَ؟ هَا أَنَا أَضَعُ يَدِي عَلَى فَمِي

Why do I yet plead? being rebuked even while reproving the Lord: hearing such things, whereas I am nothing: and what shall I answer to these [arguments]? I will lay my hand upon my mouth.

٥ 5 لَقَدْ تَكَلَّمْتُ مَرَّةً وَلَنْ أُجِيبَ، وَمَرَّتَيْنِ وَلَنْ أُضِيفَ».

I have spoken once; but I will not do so a second time.

٦ 6 حِينَئِذٍ أَجَابَ الرَّبُّ أَيُّوبَ مِنَ الْعَاصِفَةِ:

And the Lord yet again answered and spoke to Job out of the cloud, [saying],

٧ 7 «اشْدُدْ حَقَوَيْكَ وَكُنْ رَجُلاً، فَأَسْأَلَكَ وَتُجِيبَنِي.

Nay, gird up now your loins like a man; and I will ask you, and do you answer me.

٨ 8 أَتَشُكُّ فِي قَضَائِي أَوْ تَسْتَذْنِبُنِي لِتُبَرِّرَ نَفْسَكَ؟

Do not set aside my judgment: and do you think that I have dealt with you in any other way, than that you might appear to be righteous?

٩ 9 أَتَمْلِكُ ذِرَاعاً كَذِرَاعِ اللهِ؟ أَتُرْعِدُ بِمِثْلِ صَوْتِهِ؟

Hast you an arm like the Lord's? or do you thunder with a voice like his?

١٠ 10 إِذاً تَسَرْبَلْ بِالْجَلالِ وَالْعَظَمَةِ، وَتَزَيَّنْ بِالْمَجْدِ وَالْبَهَاءِ.

Assume now a lofty bearing and power; and clothe yourself with glory and honor.

١١ 11 صُبَّ فَيْضَ غَضَبِكَ، وَانْظُرْ إِلَى كُلِّ مُتَكَبِّرٍ وَاخْفِضْهُ.

And send forth messengers with wrath; and lay low every haughty one.

١٢ 12 انْظُرْ إِلَى كُلِّ مُتَعَظِّمٍ وَذَلّلْهُ، وَدُسِ الأَشْرَارَ فِي مَوَاضِعِهِمْ.

Bring down also the proud man; and consume at once the ungodly.

١٣ 13 اطْمِرْهُمْ كُلَّهُمْ فِي التُّرَابِ مَعاً، وَاحْبِسْ وُجُوهَهُمْ فِي الْهَاوِيَةِ.

And hide them together in the earth; and fill their faces with shame.

١٤ 14 عِنْدَئِذٍ أَعْتَرِفُ لَكَ بِأَنَّ يَمِينَكَ قَادِرَةٌ عَلَى إِنْقَاذِكَ.

[Then] will I confess that your right hand can save [you].

١٥ 15 انْظُرْ إِلَى بَهِيمُوثَ (الْحَيَوَانِ الضَّخْمِ) الَّذِي صَنَعْتُهُ مَعَكَ، فَإِنَّهُ يَأْكُلُ الْعُشْبَ كَالْبَقَرِ.

But now look at the wild beasts with you; they eat grass like oxen.

١٦ 16 إِنَّ قُوَّتَهُ فِي مَتْنَيْهِ، وَشِدَّتَهُ فِي عَضَلِ بَطْنِهِ.

Behold now, his strength is in his loins, and his force is in the navel of his belly.

١٧ 17 يَنْتَصِبُ ذَيْلُهُ كَشَجَرَةِ أَرْزٍ، وَعَضَلاتُ فَخْذَيْهِ مَضْفُورَةٌ.

He sets up his tail like a cypress; and his nerves are wrapped together.

١٨ 18 عِظَامُهُ أَنَابِيبُ نُحَاسٍ وَأَطْرَافُهُ قُضْبَانُ حَدِيدٍ،

His sides are sides of brass; and his backbone is [as] cast iron.

١٩ 19 إِنَّهُ أَعْجَبُ كُلِّ الْخَلائِقِ، وَلا يَقْدِرُ أَنْ يَهْزِمَهُ إِلّا الَّذِي خَلَقَهُ.

This is the chief of the creation of the Lord; made to be played with by his angels.

٢٠ 20 تَنْمُو الأَعْشَابُ الَّتِي يَتَغَذَّى بِها عَلَى الْجِبَالِ، حَيْثُ تَمْرَحُ وُحُوشُ الْبَرِّيَّةِ.

And when he has gone up to a steep mountain, he causes joy to the quadrupeds in the deep.

٢١ 21 يَرْبِضُ تَحْتَ شُجَيْرَاتِ السِّدْرِ، وَبَيْنَ الْحَلْفَاءِ فِي الْمُسْتَنْقَعَاتِ.

He lies under trees of every kind, by the papyrus, and reed, and bulrush.

٢٢ 22 يَسْتَظِلُّ بِشُجَيْرَاتِ السِّدْرِ، وَبِالصَّفْصَافِ عَلَى الْمِيَاهِ الْجَارِيَةِ

And the great trees make a shadow over him with their branches, and [so do] the bushes of the field.

٢٣ 23 لَا يُخَامِرُهُ الْخَوْفُ إِنْ هَاجَ النَّهْرُ، وَيَظَلُّ مُطْمَئِنّاً وَلَوِ انْدَفَقَ نَهْرُ الأُرْدُنِّ فِي فَمِهِ.

If there should be a flood, he will not perceive it; he trust that Jordan will rush up into his mouth.

٢٤ 24 مَنْ يَقْدِرُ أَنْ يَصْطَادَهُ مِنَ الأَمَامِ، أَوْ يَثْقُبَ أَنْفَهُ بِخِزَامَةٍ؟

[Yet one] shall take him in his sight; [one] shall catch [him] with a cord, and pierce his nose.
