أيُّوب 37

١ 1 لِذَلِكَ يَرْتَعِدُ قَلْبِي وَيَثِبُ فِي مَوْضِعِهِ.

At this also mine heart is astonied, and is mooued out of his place.

٢ 2 فَأَنْصِتْ، وَأَصْغِ إِلَى زَئِيرِ صَوْتِهِ، وَإِلَى زَمْجَرَةِ فَمِهِ.

Heare the sound of his voyce, and the noyse that goeth out of his mouth.

٣ 3 يَسْتَلُّ بُرُوقَهُ مِنْ تَحْتِ كُلِّ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَيُرْسِلُهَا إِلَى جَمِيعِ أَقَاصِي الأَرْضِ،

He directeth it vnder the whole heauen, and his light vnto the endes of the world.

٤ 4 فَتُدَوِّي زَمْجَرَةُ زَئِيرِهِ، وَيُرْعِدُ بِصَوْتِ جَلالِهِ، وَحِينَ تَتَرَدَّدُ أَصْدَاؤُهُ لَا يَكْبَحُ جِمَاحَهَا شَيْءٌ.

After it a noyse soundeth: hee thundereth with the voyce of his maiestie, and hee will not stay them when his voyce is heard.

٥ 5 يُرْعِدُ اللهُ بِصَوْتِهِ صَانِعاً عَجَائِبَ وَآيَاتٍ تَفُوقُ إِدْرَاكَنَا.

God thundereth marueilously with his voyce: he worketh great things, which we know not.

٦ 6 يَقُولُ لِلثَّلْجِ اهْطِلْ عَلَى الأَرْضِ، وَلِلأَمْطَارِ: انْهَمِرِي بِشِدَّةٍ.

For he sayth to the snowe, Be thou vpon the earth: likewise to the small rayne and to the great rayne of his power.

٧ 7 يُوْقِفُ كُلَّ إِنْسَانٍ عَنْ عَمَلِهِ، لِيُدْرِكَ كُلُّ النَّاسِ الَّذِينَ خَلَقَهُمْ حَقِيقَةَ قُوَّتِهِ.

With the force thereof he shutteth vp euery man, that all men may knowe his worke.

٨ 8 فَتَلْجَأُ الْوُحُوشُ إِلَى أَوْجِرَتِهَا، وَتَمْكُثُ فِي مَآوِيهَا.

Then the beastes go into the denne, and remaine in their places.

٩ 9 تُقْبِلُ الْعَاصِفَةُ مِنَ الْجَنُوبِ، وَالْبَرَدُ مِنَ الشِّمَالِ،

The whirlewind commeth out of the South, and the colde from the North winde.

١٠ 10 مِنْ نَسَمَةِ اللهِ يَتَكَوَّنُ الْجَلِيدُ، وَتَتَجَمَّدُ بِسُرْعَةٍ الْمِيَاهُ الْغَزِيرَةُ.

At the breath of God the frost is giuen, and the breadth of the waters is made narrowe.

١١ 11 يَشْحَنُ السُّحُبَ الْمُتَكَاثِفَةَ بِالنَّدَى، وَيُبَعْثِرُ بَرْقَهُ بَيْنَهَا.

He maketh also the cloudes to labour, to water the earth, and scattereth the cloude of his light.

١٢ 12 فَتَتَحَرَّكُ كَمَا يَشَاءُ هُوَ، لِتُنَفِّذَ كُلَّ مَا يَأْمُرُهَا بِهِ عَلَى وَجْهِ الْمَسْكُونَةِ.

And it is turned about by his gouernment, that they may doe whatsoeuer he commandeth them vpon the whole worlde:

١٣ 13 يُرْسِلُهَا سَوَاءٌ لِلتَّأْدِيبِ أَوْ لأَرْضِهِ أَوْ رَحْمَةً مِنْهُ.

Whether it be for punishment, or for his lande, or of mercie, he causeth it to come.

١٤ 14 فَاسْتَمِعْ إِلَى هَذَا يَا أَيُّوبُ. وَتَوَقَّفْ وَتَأَمَّلْ فِي عَجَائِبِ اللهِ.

Hearken vnto this, O Iob: stand and consider the wonderous workes of God.

١٥ 15 هَلْ تَدْرِي كَيْفَ يَتَحَكَّمُ اللهُ فِي السُّحُبِ، وَكَيْفَ يَجْعَلُ بُرُوقَهُ تُوْمِضُ؟

Diddest thou knowe when God disposed them? and caused the light of his cloud to shine?

١٦ 16 هَلْ تَعْرِفُ كَيْفَ تَتَعَلَّقُ السُّحُبُ بِتَوَازُنٍ؟ هَذِهِ الْعَجَائِبُ الصَّادِرَةُ عَنْ كَامِلِ الْمَعْرِفَةِ!

Hast thou knowen the varietie of the cloude, and the wonderous workes of him, that is perfite in knowledge?

١٧ 17 أَنْتَ يَا مَنْ تَسْخُنُ ثِيَابُهُ عِنْدَمَا تَرِينُ سَكِينَةٌ عَلَى الأَرْضِ بِتَأْثِيرِ رِيحِ الْجَنُوبِ.

Or howe thy clothes are warme, when he maketh the earth quiet through the South winde?

١٨ 18 هَلْ يُمكِنُكَ مِثْلَهُ أَنْ تُصَفِّحَ الْجَلَدَ الْمُمْتَدَّ وَكَأَنَّهُ مِرْآةٌ مَسْبُوكَةٌ؟

Hast thou stretched out the heaues, which are strong, and as a molten glasse?

١٩ 19 أَنْبِئْنَا مَاذَا عَلَيْنَا أَنْ نَقُولَ لَهُ، فَإِنَّنَا لَا نُحْسِنُ عَرْضَ قَضِيَّتِنَا بِسَبَبِ الظُّلْمَةِ (أَيِ الْجَهْلِ)

Tell vs what we shall say vnto him: for we can not dispose our matter because of darknes.

٢٠ 20 هَلْ أَطْلُبُ مِنَ اللهِ أَنْ أَتَكَلَّمَ مَعَهُ؟ أَيُّ رَجُلٍ يَتَمَنَّى لِنَفْسِهِ الْهَلاكَ؟

Shall it be told him when I speake? or shall man speake when he shalbe destroyed?

٢١ 21 لَا يَقْدِرُ أَحَدٌ أَنْ يُحَدِّقَ إِلَى النُّورِ عِنْدَمَا يَكُونُ مُتَوَهِّجاً فِي السَّمَاءِ، بَعْدَ أَنْ تَكُونَ الرِّيحُ قَدْ بَدَّدَتْ عَنْهُ السُّحُبَ.

And nowe men see not the light, which shineth in the cloudes, but the winde passeth and clenseth them.

٢٢ 22 يُقْبِلُ مِنَ الشِّمَالِ بَهَاءٌ ذَهَبِيٌّ، إِنَّ اللهَ مُسَرْبَلٌ بِجَلالٍ مُرْهِبٍ.

The brightnesse commeth out of the North: the praise thereof is to God, which is terrible.

٢٣ 23 وَلا يُمْكِنُنَا إِدْرَاكُ الْقَدِيرِ، فَهُوَ مُتَعَظِّمٌ بِالْقُوَّةِ وَالْعَدْلِ وَالْبِرِّ وَلا يَجُورُ،

It is the Almightie: we can not finde him out: he is excellent in power and iudgement, and aboundant in iustice: he afflicteth not.

٢٤ 24 لِذَلِكَ يَرْهَبُهُ الْجَمِيعُ، لأَنَّهُ يَحْتَقِرُ أَدْعِيَاءَ الْحِكْمَةِ».

Let men therefore feare him: for he will not regarde any that are wise in their owne conceit.
