أيُّوب 34

١ 1 وَأَضَافَ أَلِيهُو قَائِلاً:

Moreover Elihu answered and said,

٢ 2 «اسْتَمِعُوا إِلَى أَقْوَالِي أَيُّهَا الْحُكَمَاءُ، وَأَصْغُوا إِلَيَّ يَا ذَوِي الْمَعْرِفَةِ،

Hear my words, ye wise [men]; and give ear unto me, ye that have knowledge.

٣ 3 لأَنَّ الأُذُنَ تُمَحِّصُ الأَقْوَالَ كَمَا يَتَذَوَّقُ الْحَنَكُ الطَّعَامَ.

For the ear trieth words, as the palate tasteth food.

٤ 4 لِنَتَدَاوَلْ فِيمَا بَيْنَنَا لِنُمَيِّزَ مَا هُوَ أَصْوَبُ لَنَا، وَنَتَعَلَّمَ مَعاً مَا هُوَ صَالِحٌ.

Let us choose for ourselves what is right; let us know among ourselves what is good!

٥ 5 يَقُولُ أَيُّوبُ:’إِنِّي بَارٌّ، وَلَكِنَّ اللهَ قَدْ تَنَكَّرَ لِحَقِّي،

For Job hath said, I am righteous, and God hath taken away my judgment:

٦ 6 وَمَعَ أَنِّي مُحِقٌّ فَأَنَا أُدْعَى كَاذِباً، وَمَعَ أَنِّي بَرِيءٌ فَإِنَّ سَهْمَهُ أَصَابَنِي بِجُرْحٍ مُسْتَعْصٍ‘.

Should I lie against my right? My wound is incurable without transgression.

٧ 7 فَمَنْ هُوَ نَظِيرُ أَيُّوبَ الَّذِي يَجْرَعُ الْهُزْءَ كَالْمَاءِ،

What man is like Job? he drinketh up scorning like water,

٨ 8 يُوَاظِبُ عَلَى مُعَاشَرَةِ فَاعِلِي الإِثْمِ، وَيَأْتَلِفُ مَعَ الأَشْرَارِ،

And goeth in company with workers of iniquity, and walketh with wicked men.

٩ 9 لأَنَّهُ يَقُولُ: لَا يَنْتَفِعُ الإِنْسَانُ شَيْئاً مِنْ إِرْضَاءِ اللهِ.

For he hath said, It profiteth not a man if he delight himself in God.

١٠ 10 لِذَلِكَ أَصْغُوا إِلَيَّ يَا ذَوِي الْفَهْمِ: حَاشَا لِلهِ أَنْ يَرْتَكِبَ شَرّاً أَوْ لِلْقَدِيرِ أَنْ يَقْتَرِفَ خَطَأً،

Therefore hearken unto me, ye men of understanding: Far be wickedness from God, and wrong from the Almighty!

١١ 11 لأَنَّهُ يُجَازِي الإِنْسَانَ بِمُوْجِبِ أَعْمَالِهِ، وَبِمُقْتَضَى طَرِيقِهِ يُحَاسِبُهُ.

For a man's work will he render to him, and cause every one to find according to [his] way.

١٢ 12 إِذْ حَاشَا لِلهِ أَنْ يَرْتَكِبَ شَرّاً، وَالْقَدِيرِ أَنْ يُعَوِّجَ الْقَضَاءَ.

Yea, surely, God acteth not wickedly, and the Almighty perverteth not judgment.

١٣ 13 مَنْ وَكَّلَ اللهَ بِالأَرْضِ؟ وَمَنْ عَهِدَ إِلَيْهِ بِالْمَسْكُونَةِ؟

Who hath entrusted to him the earth? and who hath disposed the whole world?

١٤ 14 إِنِ اسْتَرْجَعَ رُوحَهُ إِلَيْهِ وَاسْتَجْمَعَ نَسَمَتَهُ إِلَى نَفْسِهِ

If he only thought of himself, [and] gathered unto him his spirit and his breath,

١٥ 15 فَالْبَشَرُ جَمِيعاً يَفْنَوْنَ مَعاً، وَيَعُودُ الإِنْسَانُ إِلَى التُّرَابِ.

All flesh would expire together, and man would return to the dust.

١٦ 16 فَإِنْ كُنْتَ مِنْ أُولِي الْفَهْمِ، فَاسْتَمِعْ إِلَى هَذَا، وَأَنْصِتْ لِمَا أَقُولُ:

If now [thou hast] understanding, hear this: give ear to the voice of my words!

١٧ 17 أَيُمْكِنُ لِمُبْغِضِ الْعَدْلِ أَنْ يَحْكُمَ؟ أَتَدِينُ الْبَارَّ الْقَدِيرَ؟

Should he that hateth right indeed govern? and wilt thou condemn the All-just?

١٨ 18 الَّذِي يَقُولُ لِلْمَلِكِ: أَنْتَ عَدِيمُ الْقِيمَةِ، وَلِلنُّبَلاءِ: أَنْتُمْ أَشْرَارٌ؟

Shall one say to a king, Belial? to nobles, Wicked?

١٩ 19 الَّذِي لَا يُحَابِي الأُمَرَاءَ، وَلا يُؤْثِرُ الأَغْنِيَاءَ عَلَى الْفُقَرَاءِ، لأَنَّهُمْ جَمِيعاً عَمَلُ يَدَيْهِ.

[How then to him] that accepteth not the persons of princes, nor regardeth the rich man more than the poor? for they are all the work of his hands.

٢٠ 20 فِي لَحْظَةٍ يَمُوتُونَ، تُفَاجِئُهُمُ الْمَنِيَّةُ فِي مُنْتَصَفِ اللَّيْلِ، تَتَزَعْزَعُ الشُّعُوبُ فَيَفْنَوْنَ، وَيُسْتَأْصَلُ الأَعِزَّاءُ مِنْ غَيْرِ عَوْنٍ بَشَرِيٍّ،

In a moment they die, even at midnight the people are convulsed and pass away; and the strong are taken away without hand.

٢١ 21 لأَنَّ عَيْنَيْهِ عَلَى طُرُقِ الإِنْسَانِ وَهُوَ يُرَاقِبُ خَطْوَاتِهِ.

For his eyes are upon the ways of man, and he seeth all his steps.

٢٢ 22 لَا تُوجَدُ ظُلْمَةٌ، وَلا ظِلُّ مَوْتٍ، يَتَوَارَى فِيهِمَا فَاعِلُو الإِثْمِ،

There is no darkness, nor shadow of death, where the workers of iniquity may hide themselves.

٢٣ 23 لأَنَّهُ لَا يَحْتَاجُ أَنْ يَفْحَصَ الإِنْسَانَ مَرَّةً أُخْرَى حَتَّى يَدْعُوهُ لِلْمُثُولِ أَمَامَهُ فِي مُحَاكَمَةٍ.

For he doth not long consider a man, to bring him before God in judgment.

٢٤ 24 يُحَطِّمُ الأَعِزَّاءَ مِنْ غَيْرِ إِجْرَاءِ تَحْقِيقٍ، وَيُقِيمُ آخَرِينَ مَكَانَهُمْ

He breaketh in pieces mighty men without inquiry, and setteth others in their stead;

٢٥ 25 لِذَلِكَ هُوَ مُطَّلِعٌ عَلَى أَعْمَالِهِمْ، فَيُطِيحُ بِهِمْ فِي اللَّيْلِ فَيُسْحَقُونَ.

Since he knoweth their actions; and he overthroweth [them] in the night, and they are crushed.

٢٦ 26 يَضْرِبُهُمْ لِشَرِّهِمْ عَلَى مَرْأَى مِنَ النَّاسِ،

He striketh them as wicked men in the open sight of others,

٢٧ 27 لأَنَّهُمُ انْحَرَفُوا عَنِ اتِّبَاعِهِ، وَلَمْ يَتَأَمَّلُوا فِي طُرُقِهِ،

Because they have turned back from him, and would consider none of his ways;

٢٨ 28 فَكَانُوا سَبَباً فِي ارْتِفَاعِ صُرَاخِ الْبَائِسِ إِلَيْهِ، وَاللهُ يَسْتَجِيبُ اسْتِغَاثَةَ الْمِسْكِينِ.

So that they cause the cry of the poor to come unto him, and he heareth the cry of the afflicted.

٢٩ 29 فَإِنْ هَيْمَنَ بِسَكِينَتِهِ فَمَنْ يَدِينُهُ؟ وَإِنْ وَارَى وَجْهَهُ فَمَنْ يُعَايِنُهُ؟ سَوَاءٌ أَكَانُوا شَعْباً أَمْ فَرْداً

When he giveth quietness, who then will disturb? and when he hideth [his] face, who shall behold him? and this towards a nation, or towards a man alike;

٣٠ 30 لِكَيْ لَا يَسُودَ الْفَاجِرُ، لِئَلّا تَعْثُرَ الأُمَّةُ.

That the ungodly man reign not, that the people be not ensnared.

٣١ 31 هَلْ قَالَ أَحَدٌ للهِ: لَقَدْ تَحَمَّلْتُ الْعِقَابَ فَلَنْ أَعُودَ إِلَى الإِسَاءَةِ؟

For hath he said unto God, I bear [chastisement], I will not offend;

٣٢ 32 عَلِّمْنِي مَا لَا أَرَاهُ، وَإِنْ كُنْتُ قَدْ أَثِمْتُ فَإِنَّنِي عَنْهُ أَرْتَدِعُ.

What I see not, teach thou me; if I have done wrong, I will do so no more?

٣٣ 33 أَيُجْزِيكَ اللهُ إِذاً بِمُقْتَضَى رَأْيِكَ إِذَا رَفَضْتَ التَّوْبَةَ؟ لأَنَّ عَلَيْكَ أَنْتَ أَنْ تَخْتَارَ لَا أَنَا، فَأَخْبِرْنِي بِمَا تَعْرِفُ.

Shall he recompense according to thy mind? for thou hast refused [his judgment]; for thou so choosest, and not I; speak then what thou knowest.

٣٤ 34 إِنَّ ذَوِي الْفَهْمِ يُعْلِنُونَ، وَالْحُكَمَاءَ الَّذِينَ يُنْصِتُونَ إِلَى كَلامِي يَقُولُونَ لِي:

Men of understanding will say to me, and a wise man who heareth me:

٣٥ 35 إِنَّ أَيُّوبَ يَتَكَلَّمُ بِجَهْلٍ، وَكَلامُهُ يَفْتَقِرُ إِلَى التَّعَقُّلِ.

Job hath spoken without knowledge, and his words were not with intelligence.

٣٦ 36 يَا لَيْتَ أَيُّوبَ يُمْتَحَنُ أَقْسَى امْتِحَانٍ، لأَنَّهُ أَجَابَ كَمَا يُجِيبُ أَهْلُ الشَّرِّ.

Would that Job may be tried unto the end, because of [his] answers after the manner of evil men!

٣٧ 37 لَكِنَّهُ أَضَافَ إِلَى خَطِيئَتِهِ عِصْيَاناً، إِذْ يُصَفِّقُ بَيْنَنَا بِاحْتِقَارٍ، مُثَرْثِراً بِأَقْوَالٍ ضِدَّ اللهِ!»

For he addeth rebellion unto his sin, he clappeth [his hands] among us, and multiplieth his words against God.
