تكوين 25

١ 1 وَعَادَ إِبْرَاهِيمُ فَاتَّخَذَ لِنَفْسِهِ زَوْجَةً تُدْعَى قَطُورَةَ،

Then Abraham took again a wife, and her name was Keturah.

٢ 2 فَأَنْجَبَتْ لَهُ زِمْرَانَ وَيَقْشَانَ وَمَدَانَ وَمِدْيَانَ وَيِشْبَاقَ وَشُوحاً.

And she bore him Zimran, and Yokshan, and Medan, and Midian, and Yishbak, and Shuach.

٣ 3 وَأَنْجَبَ يَقْشَانُ شَبَا وَدَدَانَ. أَمَّا أَبْنَاءُ دَدَانَ فَهُمْ: أَشُّورِيمُ وَلَطُوشِيمُ وَلأُمِّيمُ.

And Yokshan begat Sheba, and Dedan. And the sons of Dedan were Asshurim, and Letushim, and Leummim.

٤ 4 وَأَبْنَاءُ مِدْيَانَ هُمْ: عَيْفَةُ وَعِفْرُ وَحَنُوكُ وَأَبِيدَاعُ، وَأَلْدَعَةُ. وَهَؤُلاءِ جَمِيعاً مِنْ ذُرِّيَّةِ قَطُورَةَ.

And the sons of Midian: Ephah, and Epher, and Chanoch, and Abida', and Eldaah. All these were the children of Keturah.

٥ 5 وَوَرَّثَ إِبْرَاهِيمُ إِسْحاقَ كُلَّ مَالَهُ.

And Abraham gave all that he had unto Isaac.

٦ 6 أَمَّا أَبْنَاؤُهُ مِنْ سَرَارِيهِ فَأَعْطَاهُمْ إِبْرَاهِيمُ عَطَايَا، وَصَرَفَهُمْ فِي أَثْنَاءِ حَيَاتِهِ نَحْوَ أَرْضِ الْمَشْرِقِ بَعِيداً عَنْ إِسْحاقَ ابْنِهِ.

But unto the sons of the concubines that Abraham had, Abraham gave gifts; and he sent them away from Isaac his son, while he was yet living, eastward, unto the east country.

٧ 7 وَعَاشَ إِبْرَاهِيمُ مِئَةً وَخَمْساً وَسَبْعِينَ سَنَةً.

And these are the days of the years of Abraham's life which he lived, one hundred seventy and five years.

٨ 8 ثُمَّ مَاتَ بِشَيْبَةٍ صَالِحَةٍ وَانْضَمَّ إِلَى أَسْلافِهِ،

Then Abraham departed this life, and died in a good old age, an old man, and full of years, and was gathered to his people.

٩ 9 فَدَفَنَهُ ابْنَاهُ إِسْحاقُ وَإِسْمَاعِيلُ فِي مَغَارَةِ الْمَكْفِيلَةِ، فِي حَقْلِ عِفْرُونَ بْنِ صُوحَرَ الْحِثِّيِّ مُقَابِلَ مَمْرَا،

And his sons Isaac and Ishmael buried him in the cave of Machpelah, in the field of Ephron the son of Zochar the Hittite, which is before Mamre;

١٠ 10 وَهُوَ الْحَقْلُ الَّذِي اشْتَرَاهُ إِبْرَاهِيمُ مِنَ الْحِثِّيِّينَ، وَفِيهِ دُفِنَ إِبْرَاهِيمُ وَزَوْجَتُهُ سَارَةُ.

The field which Abraham purchased of the sons of Heth: there was Abraham buried, with Sarah his wife.

١١ 11 وَبَعْدَ وَفَاةِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بَارَكَ اللهُ إِسْحاقَ ابْنَهُ، وَأَقَامَ إِسْحاقُ عِنْدَ بِئْرِ لَحَيْ رُئِي.

And it came to pass after the death of Abraham, that God blessed Isaac his son; and Isaac dwelt by the well Lachai-roi.

١٢ 12 وَهَذَا سِجِلُّ مَوَالِيدِ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ الَّذِي أَنْجَبَتْهُ هَاجَرُ الْمِصْرِيَّةُ جَارِيَةُ سَارَةَ لإِبْرَاهِيمَ.

Now theses are the generations of Ishmael, Abraham's son, whom Hagar the Egyptian, Sarah's handmaid, bore unto Abraham.

١٣ 13 وَهَذِهِ أَسْمَاءُ أَبْنَاءِ إِسْمَاعِيلَ مَدَوَّنَةً حَسَبَ تَرْتِيبِ وِلادَتِهِمْ: نَبَايُوتُ بِكْرُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ، وَقِيدَارُ وَأَدَبْئِيلُ وَمِبْسَامُ،

And these are the names of the sons of Ishmael, by their names, according to their generations: the first-born of Ishmael, Nebayoth; and Kedar, and Adbeel, and Mibsam,

١٤ 14 وَمِشْمَاعُ وَدُومَةُ وَمَسَّا،

And Mishma, and Dumah, and Massa,

١٥ 15 وَحَدَارُ وَتَيْمَا وَيَطُورُ وَنَافِيشُ وَقِدْمَةُ.

Chadad, and Tema, Yetur, Naphish, and Kedemah.

١٦ 16 هَؤُلاءِ هُمْ بَنُو إِسْمَاعِيلَ، وَهَذِهِ هِيَ أَسْمَاؤُهُمْ حَسَبَ دِيَارِهِمْ وَحُصُونِهِمْ، وَقَدْ صَارُوا اثْنَي عَشَرَ رَئِيساً لاثْنَتَيْ عَشْرَةَ قَبِيلَةً.

These are the sons of Ishmael, and these are their names, by their towns, and by their castles; twelve princes according to their nations.

١٧ 17 وَمَاتَ إِسْمَاعِيلُ وَلَهُ مِنَ الْعُمْرِ مِئَةٌ وَسَبْعٌ وَثَلاثُونَ سَنَةً، وَلَحِقَ بِقَوْمِهِ.

And these are the years of the life of Ishmael, one hundred and thirty and seven years: and he departed this life and died; and was gathered unto his people.

١٨ 18 أَمَّا ذُرِّيَّتُهُ فَقَدِ انْتَشَرَتْ مِنْ حَوِيلَةَ إِلَى شُورَ الْمُتَاخِمَةِ لِمِصْرَ فِي اتِّجَاهِ أَشُّورَ، وَكَانَتْ عَلَى عَدَاءٍ مَعَ بَقِيَّةِ إِخْوَتِهَا.

And they dwelt from Chavilah unto Shur, that is before Egypt, as thou goest toward Assyria: he dwelt in the presence of all his brethren.

١٩ 19 وَهَذَا سِجِلُّ مَوَالِيدِ إِسْحاقَ بْنِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ. أَنْجَبَ إِبْرَاهِيمُ إِسْحاقَ.

And these are the generations of Isaac, the son of Abraham: Abraham begat Isaac.

٢٠ 20 وَكَانَ إِسْحاقُ فِي الأَرْبَعِينَ مِنْ عُمْرِهِ عِنْدَمَا تَزَوَّجَ رِفْقَةَ بِنْتَ بَتُوئِيلَ الأَرَامِيِّ مِنْ سَهْلِ أَرَامَ، وَأُخْتَ لابَانَ الأَرَامِيِّ.

And Isaac was forty years old when he took Rebekah, the daughter of Bethuel the Syrian, of Padan-aram, the sister to Laban the Syrian, to himself as wife.

٢١ 21 وَصَلَّى إِسْحاقُ إِلَى الرَّبِّ مِنْ أَجْلِ امْرَأَتِهِ لأَنَّهَا كَانَتْ عَاقِراً، فَاسْتَجَابَ لَهُ الرَّبُّ، فَحَمَلَتْ رِفْقَةُ زَوْجَتُهُ.

And Isaac entreated the Lord in behalf of his wife, because she was barren: and the Lord was entreated of him, and Rebekah his wife conceived.

٢٢ 22 وَإِذْ تَصَارَعَ الطِّفْلانِ فِي بَطْنِهَا قَالَتْ: «إِنْ كَانَ الأَمْرُ هَكَذَا فَمَالِي وَالْحَبَلُ؟» وَمَضَتْ لِتَسْتَفْهِمَ مِنَ الرَّبِّ

And the children struggled together within her; and she said, If it be so, why did I desire this? And she went to inquire of the Lord.

٢٣ 23 فَقَالَ لَهَا الرَّبُّ: «فِي أَحْشَائِكِ أُمَّتَانِ، يَتَفَرَّعُ مِنْهُمَا شَعْبَانِ. شَعْبٌ يَسْتَقْوِي عَلَى شَعْبٍ، وَكَبِيرٌ يُسْتَعْبَدُ لِصَغِيرٍ».

And the Lord said unto her, Two nations are in thy womb, and two manner of people shall be separated from thy bowels; and one people shall be stronger than the other people; and the elder shall serve the younger.

٢٤ 24 وَعِنْدَمَا اكْتَمَلَتْ أَيَّامُهَا لِتَلِدَ إِذَا فِي أَحْشَائِهَا تَوْأَمَانِ.

And when her days to be delivered were fulfilled, behold, there were twins in her womb.

٢٥ 25 فَخَرَجَ الأَوَّلُ مَكْسُوّاً بِالشَّعْرِ وَكَأَنَّهُ يَرْتَدِي فَرْوَةً حَمْرَاءَ، فَدَعَوْهُ عِيسُو (وَمَعْنَاهُ أَشْعَرُ).

And the first came out red, all over like a hairy garment; and they called his name Esau.

٢٦ 26 ثُمَّ خَرَجَ أَخُوهُ وَيَدُهُ قَابِضَةٌ عَلَى عَقِبِ عِيسُو فَدَعَوْهُ يَعْقُوبَ (وَمَعَنَاهُ مُتَعَقِّبٌ). وَكَانَ إِسْحاقُ فِي السِّتِّينَ مِنْ عُمْرِهِ عِنْدَمَا أَنْجَبَتْهُمَا لَهُ رِفْقَةُ.

And after that came his brother out, his hand holding on to Esau's heel; and his name was called Jacob: and Isaac was sixty years old when she bore them.

٢٧ 27 وَكَبُرَ الْوَلَدَانِ، فَأَصْبَحَ عِيسُو صَيَّاداً مَاهِراً وَرَجُلَ بَرِّيَّةٍ، بَيْنَمَا كَانَ يَعْقُوبُ رَجُلاً هَادِئاً يُقِيمُ فِي الْخِيَامِ.

And the boys grew up: and Esau was an expert hunter, a man of the field; and Jacob was a plain man, dwelling in tents.

٢٨ 28 وَأَحَبَّ إِسْحاقُ عِيسُو لأَنَّهُ كَانَ يَأْكُلُ مِنْ صَيْدِهِ، أَمَّا رِفْقَةُ فَقَدْ أَحَبَّتْ يَعْقُوبَ.

And Isaac loved Esau, because he did eat of his venison; but Rebekah loved Jacob.

٢٩ 29 وَذَاتَ مَرَّةٍ عَادَ عِيسُو مِنَ الْحَقْلِ مُرْهَقاً فَوَجَدَ يَعْقُوبَ قَدْ طَبَخَ طَعَاماً،

And Jacob at one time boiled pottage, and Esau came from the field, and he was faint.

٣٠ 30 فَقَالَ عِيسُو لِيَعْقُوبَ: «أَطْعِمْنِي مِنْ هَذَا الطَّبِيخِ الأَحْمَرِ لأَنَّنِي جَائِعٌ جِدّاً». لِهَذَا دُعِيَ عِيسُو بِأَدُومَ.

And Esau said to Jacob, Let me swallow down, I pray thee, some of that yonder red pottage, for I am faint; therefore was his name called Edom.

٣١ 31 فَقَالَ يَعْقُوبُ: «بِعْنِي أَوَّلاً امْتِيَازَاتِ بَكُورِيَّتِكَ».

And Jacob said, Sell me this day thy right of first-born.

٣٢ 32 فَقَالَ عِيسُو: «أَنَا لابُدَّ مَائِتٌ، فَأَيُّ نَفْعٍ لِي مِنْ بَكُورِيَّتِي؟»

And Esau said, Behold, I am going to die; and what profit then can the right of first-born be to me?

٣٣ 33 فَأَجَابَهُ يَعْقُوبُ: «احْلِفْ لِي أَوَّلًا». فَحَلَفَ لَهُ، وَبَاعَ امْتِيَازَاتِ بَكُورِيَّتِهِ لِيَعْقُوبَ.

And Jacob said, Swear to me this day; and he swore unto him, and he sold his right of first-born unto Jacob.

٣٤ 34 عِنْدَئِذٍ أَعْطَى يَعْقُوبُ عِيسُو خُبْزاً وَطَبِيخَ عَدَسٍ، فَأَكَلَ وَشَرِبَ ثُمَّ قَامَ وَمَضَى فِي سَبِيلِهِ. وَهَكَذَا احْتَقَرَ عِيسُو امْتِيَازَاتِ الْبَكُورِيَّةِ.

Then Jacob gave Esau bread and pottage of lentiles, and he did eat and drink, and he rose up, and went his way; thus Esau despised the birthright.
