غَلاطِيَّة 5

١ 1 إِنَّ الْمَسِيحَ قَدْ حَرَّرَنَا وَأَطْلَقَنَا فِي سَبِيلِ الْحُرِّيَّةِ. فَاثْبُتُوا إِذَنْ، وَلا تَعُودُوا إِلَى الارْتِبَاكِ بِنِيرِ الْعُبُودِيَّةِ.

stand firm then, and do not be again entangled in a yoke of bondage.

٢ 2 هَا أَنَا بُولُسُ أَقُولُ لَكُمْ: إِنْ خُتِنْتُمْ، لَا يَنْفَعُكُمُ الْمَسِيحُ شَيْئاً.

Listen to me! I, Paul, declare to you that if you are to continue to follow the rite of circumcision, Christ will be no profit to you.

٣ 3 وَأَشْهَدُ مَرَّةً أُخْرَى لِكُلِّ مَخْتُونٍ بِأَنَّهُ مُلْتَزِمٌ أَنْ يَعْمَلَ بِالشَّرِيعَةِ كُلِّهَا.

I solemnly testify to every man who submits to circumcision that he obligates himself to keep the whole Law.

٤ 4 يَا مَنْ تُرِيدُونَ التَّبْرِيرَ عَنْ طَرِيقِ الشَّرِيعَةِ، قَدْ حُرِمْتُمُ الْمَسِيحَ وَسَقَطْتُمْ مِنَ النِّعْمَةِ!

If you are being justified by law, you are cut off from Christ; you are fallen away from grace.

٥ 5 فَإِنَّنَا، بِالرُّوحِ وَعَلَى أَسَاسِ الإِيمَانِ، نَنْتَظِرُ الرَّجَاءَ الَّذِي يُنْتِجُهُ الْبِرُّ.

But we are not, for we through the Spirit are eagerly waiting by faith for a hope of righteousness (a hope well founded);

٦ 6 فَفِي الْمَسِيحِ يَسُوعَ، لَا نَفْعَ لِلْخِتَانِ وَلا لِعَدَمِ الْخِتَانِ، بَلْ لِلإِيمَانِ الْعَامِلِ بِالْمَحَبَّةِ.

because in Christ neither circumcision has any value, nor uncircumcision, but faith which works through love.

٧ 7 كُنْتُمْ تَجْرُونَ جَرْياً جَيِّداً، فَمَنْ أَعَاقَكُمْ حَتَّى لَا تُذْعِنُوا لِلْحَقِّ؟

You were running your race nobly. Who hindered you from obeying the truth?

٨ 8 هَذَا التَّضْلِيلُ لَيْسَ مِنَ الَّذِي دَعَاكُمْ!

The influence brought to bear does not come from him who is calling you.

٩ 9 إِنَّ خَمِيرَةً صَغِيرَةً تُخَمِّرُ الْعَجِينَ كُلَّهُ.

A little leaven is leavening the whole lump.

١٠ 10 وَلَكِنَّ لِي ثِقَةً بِكُمْ فِي الرَّبِّ أَنَّكُمْ لَنْ تَعْتَنِقُوا رَأْياً آخَرَ. وَكُلُّ مَنْ يُثِيرُ الْبَلْبَلَةَ بَيْنَكُمْ سَيَلْقَى عِقَابَ ذَلِكَ، كَائِناً مَنْ كَانَ.

As for me, I am fully trusting you in the Lord that you will be no otherwise minded; but he who is trying to unsettle you will have to bear his punishment, whoever he may be.

١١ 11 وَأَمَّا أَنَا، أَيُّهَا الإِخْوَةُ، فَلَوْ صَحَّ أَنَّنِي مَازِلْتُ أَدْعُو إِلَى الْخِتَانِ، فَلِمَاذَا مَازِلْتُ أَلْقَى الاضْطِهَادَ؟ إِذَنْ لَكَانَتِ الْعَثْرَةُ الَّتِي فِي الصَّلِيبِ قَدْ زَالَتْ!

But I, brothers, if I "still preach circumcision," why am I still persecuted? Then surely the stumbling-block of the Cross has ceased to be an obstacle!

١٢ 12 لَيْتَ الَّذِينَ يُثِيرُونَ الْبَلْبَلَةَ بَيْنَكُمْ يَبْتُرُونَ أَنْفُسَهُمْ!

Would to God that those who are trying to unsettle you would even have themselves mutilated.

١٣ 13 فَإِنَّمَا إِلَى الْحُرِّيَّةِ قَدْ دُعِيتُمْ، أَيُّهَا الإِخْوَةُ؛ وَلَكِنْ لَا تَتَّخِذُوا مِنَ الْحُرِّيَّةِ ذَرِيعَةً لإِرْضَاءِ الْجَسَدِ، بَلْ بِالْمَحَبَّةِ كُونُوا عَبِيداً فِي خِدْمَةِ أَحَدِكُمُ الآخَرَ.

For you, brothers, were called for freedom; only do not make your freedom an excuse for self-indulgence, but in love enslave yourselves to one another.

١٤ 14 فَإِنَّ الشَّرِيعَةَ كُلَّهَا تَتِمُّ فِي وَصِيَّةٍ وَاحِدَةٍ: «أَنْ تُحِبَّ قَرِيبَكَ كَنَفْسِكَ».

For the whole Law has been fulfilled in this one precept, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself.

١٥ 15 فَإِذَا كُنْتُمْ تَنْهَشُونَ وَتَفْتَرِسُونَ بَعْضُكُمْ بَعْضاً، فَاحْذَرُوا أَنْ يُفْنِيَ أَحَدُكُمُ الآخَرَ!

But if you are always biting and devouring one another, take heed lest you be utterly consumed one by another.

١٦ 16 إِنَّمَا أَقُولُ: اسْلُكُوا فِي الرُّوحِ. وَعِنْدَئِذٍ لَا تُتَمِّمُونَ شَهْوَةَ الْجَسَدِ أَبَداً.

This is my meaning. Let your steps be guided by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh.

١٧ 17 فَإِنَّ الْجَسَدَ يَشْتَهِي بِعَكْسِ الرُّوحِ، وَالرُّوحُ بِعَكْسِ الْجَسَدِ؛ وَهَذَانِ يُقَاوِمُ أَحَدُهُمَا الآخَرَ حَتَّى إِنَّكُمْ لَا تَفْعَلُونَ مَا تَرْغَبُونَ فِيهِ.

For the desire of the flesh is against that of the Spirit, and the desire of the Spirit is against that of the flesh, for they two are antagonistic, so that you may not do those things that you wish.

١٨ 18 وَلَكِنْ إِذَا كُنْتُمْ خَاضِعِينَ لِقِيَادَةِ الرُّوحِ، فَلَسْتُمْ فِي حَالِ الْعُبُودِيَّةِ لِلشَّرِيعَةِ.

But if you are habitually led by the Spirit you are not under law.

١٩ 19 أَمَّا أَعْمَالُ الْجَسَدِ فَظَاهِرَةٌ، وَهِيَ: الزِّنَى وَالنَّجَاسَةُ وَالدَّعَارَةُ،

Now the works of the flesh are manifest; such, for instance, as fornication, impurity, indecency,

٢٠ 20 وَعِبَادَةُ الأَصْنَامِ وَالسِّحْرُ، وَالْعَدَاوَةُ وَالنِّزَاعُ وَالْغَيْرَةُ وَالْغَضَبُ، وَالتَّحَزُّبُ وَالانْقِسَامُ وَالتَّعَصُّبُ،

idol-worship, sorcery, quarrels, party-spirit, jealousy, passionate anger, intrigues, factions, sectarianism,

٢١ 21 وَالْحَسَدُ وَالسُّكْرُ وَالْعَرْبَدَةُ، وَمَا يُشْبِهُ هذِهِ. وَبِالنَّظَرِ إِلَيْهَا، أَقُولُ لَكُمْ الآنَ، كَمَا سَبَقَ أَنْ قُلْتُ أَيْضاً، إِنَّ الَّذِينَ يَفْعَلُونَ مِثْلَ هذِهِ لَنْ يَرِثُوا مَلَكُوتَ اللهِ!

envy, drunkenness, revelings, and things like these. I tell you beforehand, as I have already told you, that those who practise such sins shall not inherit the kingdom of God.

٢٢ 22 وَأَمَّا ثَمَرُ الرُّوحِ فَهُوَ: الْمَحَبَّةُ وَالْفَرَحُ وَالسَّلامُ، وَطُولُ الْبَالِ وَاللُّطْفُ وَالصَّلاحُ، وَالأَمَانَةُ

But the harvest-fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, long- suffering, kindness, goodness, fidelity, gentleness, and self-control;

٢٣ 23 وَالْوَدَاعَةُ وَضَبْطُ النَّفْسِ. وَلَيْسَ مِنْ قَانُونٍ يَمْنَعُ مِثْلَ هذِهِ الْفَضَائِلِ.

against such there is no law.

٢٤ 24 وَلَكِنَّ الَّذِينَ صَارُوا خَاصَّةً لِلْمَسِيحِ، قَدْ صَلَبُوا الْجَسَدَ مَعَ الأَهْوَاءِ وَالشَّهَوَاتِ.

And those who belong to Christ have crucified the flesh with its passions and appetites.

٢٥ 25 إِذَا كُنَّا نَحْيَا بِالرُّوحِ، فَلْنَسْلُكْ أَيْضاً بِالرُّوحِ.

If we are living by the Spirit, let us also keep step in the Spirit.

٢٦ 26 لَا نَكُنْ طَامِحِينَ إِلَى الْمَجْدِ الْبَاطِلِ، يَسْتَفِزُّ بَعْضُنَا بَعْضاً، وَيَحْسُدُ أَحَدُنَا الآخَرَ!

Let us not become conceited, provoking one another, envying one another.
