تَثنِيَة 8

١ 1 فَاحْفَظُوا جَمِيعَ الْوَصَايَا الَّتِي أُوصِيكُمْ بِها الْيَوْمَ لِتُمَارِسُوهَا، فَتَحْيَوْا وَتَتَكَاثَرُوا وَتَدْخُلُوا لامْتِلاكِ الأَرْضِ الَّتِي أَقْسَمَ الرَّبُّ عَلَيْهَا لِآبَائِكُمْ.

All the commandments which I command thee this day shall ye observe to do, that ye may live, and multiply, and go in and possess the land which YHWH sware unto your fathers.

٢ 2 وَتَذَكَّرُوا كَيْفَ قَادَكُمُ الرَّبُّ إِلَهُكُمْ فِي كُلِّ طَرِيقِ الصَّحْرَاءِ هَذِهِ الأَرْبَعِينَ سَنَةً لِيُذِلَّكُمْ وَيَمْتَحِنَكُمْ، فَيَعْرِفَ مَا فِي قُلُوبِكُمْ: إِنْ كُنْتُمْ تَحْفَظُونَ أَوَامِرَهُ أَمْ تَعْصَوْنَهُ.

And thou shalt remember all the way which YHWH thy Elohim led thee these forty years in the wilderness, to humble thee, and to prove thee, to know what was in thine heart, whether thou wouldest keep his commandments, or no.

٣ 3 فَأَذَلَّكُمْ ثُمَّ أَجَاعَكُمْ وَأَطْعَمَكُمُ الْمَنَّ الَّذِي لَمْ تَكُونُوا تَعْرِفُونَهُ، لَا أَنْتُمْ وَلا آبَاؤُكُمْ لِيُعَلِّمَكُمْ أَنَّهُ لَيْسَ بِالْخُبْزِ وَحْدَهُ يَحْيَا الإِنْسَانُ، بَلْ بِكُلِّ كَلِمَةٍ يَنْطِقُ بِها فَمُ الرَّبِّ.

And he humbled thee, and suffered thee to hunger, and fed thee with manna, which thou knewest not, neither did thy fathers know; that he might make thee know that man doth not live by bread only, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of YHWH doth man live.

٤ 4 وَفِي غُضُونِ الأَرْبَعِينَ سَنَةً لَمْ تَبْلَ ثِيَابُكُمْ عَلَيْكُمْ، وَلَمْ تَتَوَرَّمْ أَقْدَامُكُمْ.

Thy raiment waxed not old upon thee, neither did thy foot swell, these forty years.

٥ 5 فَاعْلَمُوا إِذاً فِي قُلُوبِكُمْ أَنَّ الرَّبَّ إِلَهَكُمْ قَدْ أَدَّبَكُمْ كَمَا يُؤَدِّبُ الْمَرْءُ ابْنَهُ.

Thou shalt also consider in thine heart, that, as a man chasteneth his son, so YHWH thy Elohim chasteneth thee.

٦ 6 فَأَطِيعُوا وَصَايَا الرَّبِّ إِلَهِكُمْ لِتَسْلُكُوا فِي سُبُلِهِ وَاتَّقُوهُ.

Therefore thou shalt keep the commandments of YHWH thy Elohim, to walk in his ways, and to fear him.

٧ 7 لأَنَّ الرَّبَّ إِلَهَكُمْ آتٍ بِكُمْ إِلَى أَرْضٍ خَصِيبَةٍ، تَكْثُرُ فِيهَا الأَنْهَارُ وَالآبَارُ، وَعُيُونُ مَاءٍ تَتَدَفَّقُ فِي الْوِدْيَانِ وَالْجِبَالِ.

For YHWH thy Elohim bringeth thee into a good land, a land of brooks of water, of fountains and depths that spring out of valleys and hills;

٨ 8 إِلَى أَرْضِ قَمْحٍ وَشَعِيرٍ وَكُرُومٍ وَتِينٍ وَرُمَّانٍ وَزَيْتُونٍ وَعَسَلٍ.

A land of wheat, and barley, and vines, and fig trees, and pomegranates; a land of oil olive, and honey;

٩ 9 إِلَى أَرْضٍ لَا تَأْكُلُونَ بِالذُّلِّ خُبْزَكُمْ وَلا يُعْوِزُكُمْ فِيهَا شَيْءٌ. هِيَ أَرْضٌ يَتَوَافَرُ فِي حِجَارَتِهَا الْحَدِيدُ، وَمِنْ جِبَالِهَا تَسْتَخْرِجُونَ النُّحَاسَ.

A land wherein thou shalt eat bread without scarceness, thou shalt not lack any thing in it; a land whose stones are iron, and out of whose hills thou mayest dig brass.

١٠ 10 فَمَتَى أَكَلْتُمْ وَشَبِعْتُمْ بَارِكُوا الرَّبَّ إِلَهَكُمُ الَّذِي وَهَبَكُمْ هَذِهِ الأَرْضَ الْخَصِيبَةَ.

When thou hast eaten and art full, then thou shalt bless YHWH thy Elohim for the good land which he hath given thee.

١١ 11 إِيَّاكُمْ نِسْيَانَ الرَّبِّ إِلَهِكُمْ وَإِهْمَالَ وَصَايَاهُ وَأَحْكَامِهِ وَفَرَائِضِهِ الَّتِي أُوصِيكُمُ الْيَوْمَ بِها،

Beware that thou forget not YHWH thy Elohim, in not keeping his commandments, and his judgments, and his statutes, which I command thee this day:

١٢ 12 لِئَلّا إِذَا أَكَلْتُمْ وَشَبِعْتُمْ وَبَنَيْتُمْ بُيُوتاً جَمِيلَةً سَكَنْتُمُوهَا،

Lest when thou hast eaten and art full, and hast built goodly houses, and dwelt therein;

١٣ 13 وَتَكَاثَرَتْ أَبْقَارُكُمْ وَغَنَمُكُمْ وَذَهَبُكُمْ وَجَمِيعُ مَا لَكُمْ.

And when thy herds and thy flocks multiply, and thy silver and thy gold is multiplied, and all that thou hast is multiplied;

١٤ 14 تَتَكَبَّرُ قُلُوبُكُمْ وَتَنْسَوْنَ الرَّبَّ إِلَهَكُمُ الَّذِي أَطْلَقَكُمْ مِنْ نِيرِ عُبُودِيَّةِ دِيَارِ مِصْرَ،

Then thine heart be lifted up, and thou forget YHWH thy Elohim, which brought thee forth out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage;

١٥ 15 وَقَادَكُمْ فِي الصَّحْرَاءِ الشَّاسِعَةِ الْمَهُولَةِ، حَيْثُ تَكْمُنُ أَفَاعٍ سَامَّةٌ وَعَقَارِبُ وَعَطَشٌ لِخُلُوِّهَا مِنَ الْمَاءِ، فَفَجَّرَ لَكُمْ مَاءً مِنْ صَخْرَةِ الصَّوَّانِ.

Who led thee through that great and terrible wilderness, wherein were fiery serpents, and scorpions, and drought, where there was no water; who brought thee forth water out of the rock of flint;

١٦ 16 الَّذِي أَطْعَمَكُمْ فِي الصَّحْرَاءِ الْمَنَّ الَّذِي لَمْ يَعْرِفْهُ آبَاؤُكُمْ لِيُذِلَّكُمْ وَيَمْتَحِنَكُمْ، فَيُحْسِنَ إِلَيْكُمْ فِي آخِرَتِكُمْ،

Who fed thee in the wilderness with manna, which thy fathers knew not, that he might humble thee, and that he might prove thee, to do thee good at thy latter end;

١٧ 17 خَوْفاً مِنْ أَنْ تَقُولُوا فِي قُلُوبِكُمْ: لَقَدْ أَحْرَزْنَا هَذَا الثَّرَاءَ بِفَضْلِ قُوَّتِنَا وَقُدْرَةِ أَيْدِينَا.

And thou say in thine heart, My power and the might of mine hand hath gotten me this wealth.

١٨ 18 وَلَكِنِ اذْكُرُوا أَنَّ الرَّبَّ إِلَهَكُمْ هُوَ الَّذِي يَمْنَحُكُمُ الْقُوَّةَ لإِحْرَازِ الثَّرْوَةِ، وَفَاءً بِوَعْدِهِ الَّذِي أَقْسَمَ عَلَيْهِ لِآبَائِكُمْ كَمَا فِي هَذَا الْيَوْمِ.

But thou shalt remember YHWH thy Elohim: for it is he that giveth thee power to get wealth, that he may establish his covenant which he sware unto thy fathers, as it is this day.

١٩ 19 أَمَّا إِنْ نَسِيتُمُ الرَّبَّ إِلَهَكُمْ، وَغَوَيْتُمْ وَرَاءَ آلِهَةٍ أُخْرَى وَعَبَدْتُمُوهَا وَسَجَدْتُمْ لَهَا، فَإِنَّنِي أُشْهِدُ عَلَيْكُمْ أَنَّكُمْ لَا مَحَالَةَ هَالِكُونَ.

And it shall be, if thou do at all forget YHWH thy Elohim, and walk after other elohim, and serve them, and worship them, I testify against you this day that ye shall surely perish.

٢٠ 20 كَالأُمَمِ الَّتِي يُبِيدُهَا الرَّبُّ مِنْ أَمَامِكُمْ هَكَذَا أَنْتُمْ أَيْضاً تَبِيدُونَ، لأَنَّكُمْ لَمْ تُطِيعُوا أَمْرَ الرَّبِّ إِلَهِكُمْ.

As the nations which YHWH destroyeth before your face, so shall ye perish; because ye would not be obedient unto the voice of YHWH your Elohim.
