عامُوس 5

١ 1 اسْمَعُوا هَذِهِ الْمَرْثِيَّةَ الَّتِي أَرْثِيكُمْ بِها يَا بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ.

Hear ye this word which I take up for a lamentation over you, O house of Israel:

٢ 2 قَدْ سَقَطَتْ عَذْرَاءُ إِسْرَائِيلَ وَلَنْ تَنْهَضَ بَعْدُ. صَارَتْ طَرِيحَةً عَلَى أَرْضِهَا وَلَيْسَ مَنْ يُقِيمُهَا.

The virgin of Israel is fallen, she shall no more rise; she is cast down upon her land, there is none to raise her up.

٣ 3 لأَنَّهُ هَكَذَا يَقُولُ الرَّبُّ: إِنَّ الْمَدِينَةَ الَّتِي قَدَّمَتْ أَلْفاً مِنْ رِجَالِهَا لِلْحَرْبِ، لَا يَبْقَى لَهَا مِنْهُمْ سِوَى مِئَةٍ. وَالَّتِي قَدَّمَتْ مِئَةً مِنْهُمْ لِلْحَرْبِ لَا يَبْقَى لِبَيْتِ إِسْرَائِيلَ مِنْهُمْ سِوَى عَشَرَةٍ.

For thus saith the Lord GOD: The city that went forth a thousand shall have a hundred left, and that which went forth a hundred shall have ten left, of the house of Israel.

٤ 4 لأَنَّ هَذَا مَا يَقُولُهُ الرَّبُّ لِبَيْتِ إِسْرَائِيلَ: الْتَمِسُونِي فَتَحْيَوْا.

For thus saith the LORD unto the house of Israel: Seek ye Me, and live;

٥ 5 لَا تَسْعَوْا وَرَاءَ بَيْتِ إِيلَ، وَلا تَدْخُلُوا الْجِلْجَالَ، وَلا تَعْبُرُوا إِلَى بِئْرِ سَبْعٍ، لأَنَّ أَهْلَ الْجِلْجَالِ لابُدَّ أَنْ يَتِمَّ سَبْيُهُمْ، وَبَيْتَ إِيلَ تُصْبِحُ عَدَماً.

But seek not Beth-el, nor enter into Gilgal, and pass not to Beer-sheba; for Gilgal shall surely go into captivity, and Beth-el shall come to nought.

٦ 6 الْتَمِسُوا الرَّبَّ فَتَحيَوْا لِئَلّا يَنْدَلِعَ كَنَارٍ تُحْرِقُ بَيْتَ يُوسُفَ وَتَلْتَهِمُ بَيْتَ إِيلَ، وَلَيْسَ مَنْ يُطْفِئُ.

Seek the LORD, and live — lest He break out like fire in the house of Joseph, and it devour, and there be none to quench it in Bethel —

٧ 7 إِنَّكُمْ تُحَوِّلُونَ الْعَدْلَ مَرَارَةً، وَتَطْرَحُونَ الْحَقَّ إِلَى الأَرْضِ.

Ye who turn judgment to wormwood, and cast righteousness to the ground;

٨ 8 إِنَّهُ هُوَ الَّذِي خَلَقَ الثُّرَيَّا وَالْجَبَّارَ، وَيُحَوِّلُ دَيَاجِيرَ الظُّلْمَةِ إِلَى نَهَارٍ، وَالنَّهَارَ إِلَى لَيْلٍ، وَيَسْتَدْعِي مِيَاهَ الْبَحْرِ وَيُفِيضُهَا عَلَى وَجْهِ الأَرْضِ، الرَّبُّ اسْمُهُ.

Him that maketh the Pleiades and Orion, and bringeth on the shadow of death in the morning, and darkeneth the day into night; that calleth for the waters of the sea, and poureth them out upon the face of the earth; the LORD is His name;

٩ 9 الَّذِي يُنْزِلُ الْخَرَابَ بِالْقَوِيِّ، فَيَعْصِفُ الدَّمَارُ بِالْحُصُونِ.

That causeth destruction to flash upon the strong, so that destruction cometh upon the fortress.

١٠ 10 قَدْ أَبْغَضُوا مَنْ يُنَدِّدُ بِالْجَوْرِ فِي سَاحَةِ الْقَضَاءِ، وَيَكْرَهُونَ مَنْ يَنْطِقُ بِالْحَقِّ.

They hate him that reproveth in the gate, and they abhor him that speaketh uprightly.

١١ 11 فَلأَنَّكُمْ تَطَأُونَ الْمِسْكِينَ وَتَبْتَزُّونَ مِنْهُ رِشْوَةَ قَمْحٍ حَتَّى تُشَيِّدُوا بُيُوتاً مِنْ حِجَارَةٍ مَنْحُوتَةٍ، فَإِنَّكُمْ لَنْ تَسْكُنُوا فِيهَا، وَتَغْرِسُوا كُرُوماً شَهِيَّةً وَلَكِنَّكُمْ لَنْ تَشْرَبُوا مِنْ خَمْرِهَا.

Therefore, because ye trample upon the poor, and take from him exactions of wheat; ye have built houses of hewn stone, but ye shall not dwell in them, ye have planted pleasant vineyards, but ye shall not drink wine thereof.

١٢ 12 لأَنَّنِي عَالِمٌ بِكَثْرَةِ مَعَاصِيكُمْ وَعِظَمِ خَطَايَاكُمْ، إِذْ إِنَّكُمْ تُضَايِقُونَ الْبَارَّ أَيُّهَا الْمُرْتَشُونَ الَّذِينَ تَصُدُّونَ الْمِسْكِينَ عَنْ حَقِّهِ فِي سَاحَةِ الْقَضَاءِ.

For I know how manifold are your transgressions, and how mighty are your sins; ye that afflict the just, that take a ransom, and that turn aside the needy in the gate.

١٣ 13 لِهَذَا يَصْمُتُ الْعَاقِلُ فِي مِثْلِ هَذَا الزَّمَانِ الرَّدِيءِ.

Therefore the prudent doth keep silence in such a time; for it is an evil time.

١٤ 14 اطْلُبُوا الْخَيْرَ لَا الشَّرَّ لِتَحْيَوْا، فَيَكُونَ الرَّبُّ الإِلَهُ الْقَدِيرُ مَعَكُمْ كَمَا تَقُولُونَ.

Seek good, and not evil, that ye may live; and so the LORD, the God of hosts, will be with you, as ye say.

١٥ 15 امْقُتُوا الشَّرَّ وَأَحِبُّوا الْخَيْرَ وَأَقِيمُوا الْعَدْلَ فِي سَاحَةِ الْقَضَاءِ، لَعَلَّ الرَّبَّ الإِلَهَ الْقَدِيرَ يَتَرَفَّقُ عَلَى بَقِيَّةِ بَيْتِ يُوسُفَ.

Hate the evil, and love the good, and establish justice in the gate; it may be that the LORD, the God of hosts, will be gracious unto the remnant of Joseph.

١٦ 16 لِذَلِكَ، هَذَا مَا يَقُولُهُ الرَّبُّ الإِلَهُ الْقَدِيرُ، سَيَمْلأُ النَّحِيبُ أَرْجَاءَ السَّاحَاتِ، وَيَرْتَفِعُ عَوِيلُهُمْ فِي الشَّوَارِعِ قَائِلِينَ: آهِ! آهِ! وَيَدْعُونَ الْفَلاحِينَ إِلَى الْبُكَاءِ، وَالنَّادِبَاتِ إِلَى الرِّثَاءِ،

Therefore thus saith the LORD, the God of hosts, the Lord: Lamentation shall be in all the broad places, and they shall say in all the streets: 'Alas! alas!' and they shall call the husbandman to mourning, and proclaim lamentation to such as are skilful of wailing.

١٧ 17 وَتَعْلُو الْوَلْوَلَةُ فِي جَوَانِبِ الْكُرُومِ، لأَنِّي سَأَجْتَازُ مُنْتَقِماً فِي وَسَطِكُمْ يَقُولُ الرَّبُّ.

And in all vineyards shall be lamentation; for I will pass through the midst of thee, saith the LORD.

١٨ 18 وَيْلٌ للَّذِينَ يَتَشَوَّقُونَ لِيَوْمِ الرَّبِّ. لِمَاذَا تَطْلُبُونَ مَجِيءَ يَوْمِ الرَّبِّ؟ فَيَوْمُ الرَّبِّ هُوَ ظُلْمَةٌ لَا نُورٌ.

Woe unto you that desire the day of the LORD! Wherefore would ye have the day of the LORD? It is darkness, and not light.

١٩ 19 فَتَكُونُونَ كَرَجُلٍ هَرَبَ مِنْ وَجْهِ أَسَدٍ فَلَقِيَهُ دُبٌّ، أَوْ كَمَنْ دَخَلَ إِلَى بَيْتٍ وَاتَّكَأَ بِيَدِهِ عَلَى حَائِطٍ فَلَدَغَتْهُ أَفْعَى.

As if a man did flee from a lion, and a bear met him; and went into the house and leaned his hand on the wall, and a serpent bit him.

٢٠ 20 أَوَ لَيْسَ يَوْمُ الرَّبِّ ظُلْمَةً لَا نُوراً، وَقَتَاماً خَالِياً مِنَ الضِّيَاءِ؟

Shall not the day of the LORD be darkness, and not light? Even very dark, and no brightness in it?

٢١ 21 إِنِّي أَمْقُتُ أَعْيَادَكُمْ وَأَحْتَقِرُهَا، وَلا أُسَرُّ بِاحْتِفَالاتِكُمْ.

I hate, I despise your feasts, and I will take no delight in your solemn assemblies.

٢٢ 22 وَمَعَ أَنَّكُمْ تُقَرِّبُونَ لِي ذَبَائِحَ مُحْرَقَاتِكُمْ وَتَقْدِمَاتِكُمْ مِنَ الدَّقِيقِ، فَإِنِّي لَا أَقْبَلُهَا وَلا أَلْتَفِتُ إِلَى ذَبَائِحِ السَّلامِ مِنْ مُسَمَّنَاتِ مَوَاشِيكُمْ.

Yea, though ye offer me burnt-offerings and your meal-offerings, I will not accept them; neither will I regard the peace-offerings of your fat beasts.

٢٣ 23 أَبْعِدُوا عَنِّي جَلَبَةَ أَغَانِيكُمْ لأَنِّي لَنْ أَصْغِيَ إِلَى نَغَمَاتِ رَبَابَاتِكُمْ.

Take thou away from Me the noise of thy songs; and let Me not hear the melody of thy psalteries.

٢٤ 24 إِنَّمَا لِيَجْرِ الْحَقُّ مُتَدَفِّقاً كَالْمِيَاهِ وَالْعَدْلُ كَنَهْرٍ سَيَّالٍ.

But let justice well up as waters, and righteousness as a mighty stream.

٢٥ 25 هَلْ قَرَّبْتُمْ لِي ذَبَائِحَ وَتَقْدِمَاتٍ طَوَالَ أَرْبَعِينَ سَنَةً فِي الْبَرِّيَّةِ، يَا بَيْتَ إِسْرَائِيلَ؟

Did ye bring unto Me sacrifices and offerings in the wilderness forty years, O house of Israel?

٢٦ 26 بَلْ إِنَّ الْمَلِكَ الَّذِي حَمَلْتُمْ خَيْمَتَهُ وَنَصْبَ تَمَاثِيلِهِ لَمْ يَكُنْ سِوَى نَجْمٍ صَنَعْتُمُوهُ لأَنْفُسِكُمْ وَعَبَدْتُمُوهُ كَإِلَهٍ.

So shall ye take up Siccuth your king and Chiun your images, the star of your god, which ye made to yourselves.

٢٧ 27 لِذَلِكَ أَسْبِيكُمْ إِلَى مَا وَرَاءَ دِمَشْقَ، يَقُولُ الرَّبُّ الَّذِي اسْمُهُ الإِلَهُ الْقَدِيرُ.

Therefore will I cause you to go into captivity beyond Damascus, saith He, whose name is the LORD God of hosts.
