وَأَرْسَلَ حِيرَامُ مَلِكُ صُورَ إِلَى دَاوُدَ وَفْداً، صَحَبَ مَعَهُ بَنَّائِينَ وَنَجَّارِينَ مُحَمَّلِينَ بِخَشَبِ أَرْزٍ، لِيَبْنُوا لَهُ قَصْراً. | ١ 1 |
And Chiram king of Tyre sent messengers to David, and cedar timbers, and masons, and carpenters, to build a house for him.
فَأَدْرَكَ دَاوُدُ أَنَّ الرَّبَّ قَدْ ثَبَّتَ دَعَائِمَ مُلْكِهِ عَلَى إِسْرَائِيلَ، لأَنَّ مَمْلَكَتَهُ ازْدَادَتْ رِفْعَةً مِنْ أَجْلِ شَعْبِهِ إِسْرَائِيلَ. | ٢ 2 |
And David knew that the Lord [had] designed him to be king over Israel; because his kingdom was highly exalted, on account of his people Israel.
وَفِي أُورُشَلِيمَ تَزَوَّجَ دَاوُدُ مِنْ نِسَاءٍ أَنْجَبْنَ لَهُ أَبْنَاءً وَبَنَاتٍ. | ٣ 3 |
And David took more wives in Jerusalem: and there were born to David more sons and daughters.
وَهَذِهِ أَسْمَاءُ الأَبْنَاءِ الَّذِينَ وُلِدُوا لَهُ فِي أُورُشَلِيمَ: شَمُّوعُ وَشُوبَابُ وَنَاثَانُ وَسُلَيْمَانُ، | ٤ 4 |
And these [are] the names of those that were born, who were [born] to him in Jerusalem; Samaa, Sobab, Nathan, and Solomon,
وَيِبْحَارُ وَأَلِيشُوعُ وَأَلِفَالَطُ، | ٥ 5 |
and Baar, and Elisa, and Eliphaleth,
وَنُوجَةُ وَنَافَجُ وَيَافِيعُ، | ٦ 6 |
and Nageth, and Naphath, and Japhie,
وَأَلِشَمَعُ وَبَعَلْيَادَاعُ وَأَلِيفَلَطُ. | ٧ 7 |
and Elisamae, and Eliade, and Eliphala.
وَلَمَّا سَمِعَ الْفِلِسْطِينِيُّونَ أَنَّ دَاوُدَ مَلَكَ عَلَى إِسْرَائِيلَ، حَشَدُوا قُوَّاتِهِمْ لِيَأْسِرُوهُ. وَحِينَ بَلَغَ دَاوُدَ ذَلِكَ خَرَجَ لِلِقَائِهِمْ. | ٨ 8 |
And the Philistines heard that David was anointed king over all Israel: and all the Philistines went up to seek David; and David heard [it], and went out to meet them.
فَجَاءَ الْفِلِسْطِينِيُّونَ إِلَى وَادِي الرَّفَائِيِّينَ وَانْتَشَرُوا فِيهِ. | ٩ 9 |
And the Philistines came and assembled together in the giants' valley.
فَسَأَلَ دَاوُدُ الرَّبَّ: «هَلْ أُهَاجِمُ الْفِلِسْطِينِيِّينَ فَتَنْصُرَنِي عَلَيْهِم؟» فَأَجَابَهُ الرَّبُّ: «هَاجِمْهُمْ فَأَنْصُرَكَ عَلَيْهِمْ». | ١٠ 10 |
And David enquired of God, saying, Shall I go up against the Philistines? and will you deliver them into my hand? And the Lord said to him, Go up, and I will deliver them into your hands.
فَتَوَجَّهَ دَاوُدُ إِلَى بَعْلِ فَرَاصِيمَ وَهَزَمَهُمْ هُنَاكَ. وَقَالَ دَاوُدُ: «قَدِ اقْتَحَمَ الرَّبُّ أَعْدَائِي كَاقْتِحَامِ الْمِيَاهِ الْمُتَدَفِّقَةِ». لِذَلِكَ دُعِيَ اسْمُ ذَلِكَ الْمَكَانِ بَعْلَ فَرَاصِيمَ (وَمَعْنَاهُ: سَيِّدُ الاقْتِحَامِ). | ١١ 11 |
And he went up to Baal Pharasin, and David struck them there; and David said, God has broken through enemies by my hand like a breach of water: therefore he called the name of that place, the Breach of Pharasin.
وَخَلَّفَ الْفِلِسْطِينِيُّونَ وَرَاءَهُمْ أَصْنَامَهُمْ، فَأَمَرَ دَاوُدُ بِجَمْعِهَا وَإِحْرَاقِهَا بالنَّارِ. | ١٢ 12 |
And the Philistines left their gods there; and David gave orders to burn them with fire.
ثُمَّ عَادَ الْفِلِسْطِينِيُّونَ وَاحْتَشَدُوا فِي وَادِي الرَّفَائِيِّينَ. | ١٣ 13 |
And the Philistines once more assembled themselves in the giants' valley.
فَاسْتَشَارَ دَاوُدُ اللهَ، فَقَالَ لَهُ اللهُ: «لا تُهَاجِمْهُمْ مُبَاشَرَةً، وَلَكِنْ دُرْ حَوْلَهُمْ وَهَاجِمْهُمْ مِنْ عِنْدِ أَشْجَارِ الْبَلْسَمِ. | ١٤ 14 |
And David enquired of God again; and God said to him, You shall not go after them; turn away from them, and you shall come upon them near the pear trees.
وَعِنْدَمَا تَسْمَعُ وَقْعَ خَطْوَاتٍ فَوْقَ رُؤُوسِ الأَشْجَارِ، خُضِ الْقِتَالَ، لأَنَّ اللهَ يَتَقَدَّمُكَ لِلْقَضَاءِ عَلَى قُوَّاتِ الْفِلِسْطِينِيِّينَ». | ١٥ 15 |
And it shall be, when you shall hear the sound of their tumult in the tops of the pear trees, then you shall go into the battle: for God has gone out before you to strike the army of the Philistines.
فَنَفَّذَ دَاوُدُ أَوَامِرَ الرَّبِّ، وَقَضَى عَلَى قُوَّاتِ الْفِلِسْطِينِيِّينَ مِنْ جِبْعُونَ إِلَى جَازِرَ. | ١٦ 16 |
And he did as God commanded him: and he struck the army of the Philistines from Gabaon to Gazera.
فَذَاعَ اسْمُ دَاوُدَ فِي كُلِّ الْبِلادِ، وَجَعَلَ الرَّبُّ هَيْبَتَهُ تَطْغَى عَلى جَمِيعِ الأُمَمِ. | ١٧ 17 |
And the name of David was [famous] in all the land; and the Lord put the terror of him on all the nations.
