| وَتَجَمَّعَ كُلُّ رُؤَسَاءِ الإِسْرَائِيلِيِّينَ حَوْلَ دَاوُدَ فِي حَبْرُونَ وَقَالُوا: «نَحْنُ مِنْ لَحْمِكَ وَدَمِكَ، | ١ 1 |
And all Israel came to David in Chebron, saying, Behold, we [are] thy bones and thy flesh.
| وَقَدْ كُنْتَ قَائِدَنَا، تَخُوضُ الْمَعَارِكَ فِي طَلِيعَتِنَا مُنْذُ الأَيَّامِ السَّابِقَةِ حِينَ كَانَ شَاوُلُ مَلِكاً عَلَيْنَا، وَقَدْ قَالَ لَكَ الرَّبُّ إِلَهُكَ: أَنْتَ تَرْعَى شَعْبِي وَتَتَوَلَّى حُكْمَهُ». | ٢ 2 |
And heretofore when Saul was king, thou wast he that led Israel in and out, and the Lord of Israel said to thee, Thou shalt feed my people Israel, and thou shalt be for a ruler over Israel.
| وَعِنْدَمَا اجْتَمَعَ جَمِيعُ شُيُوخِ إِسْرِائِيلَ إِلَى الْمَلِكِ فِي حَبْرُونَ أَبْرَمَ مَعَهُمْ عَهْداً أَمَامَ الرَّبِّ، فَمَسَحُوهُ مَلِكاً عَلَيْهِمْ تَتْمِيماً لِكَلامِ الرَّبِّ الَّذِي نَطَقَ بِهِ عَلَى لِسَانِ صَمُوئِيلَ. | ٣ 3 |
And all the elders of Israel came to the king to Chebron; and king David made a covenant with them in Chebron before the Lord: and they anointed David to be king over Israel, according to the word of the Lord by Samuel.
| وَتَوَجَّهَ دَاوُدُ عَلَى رَأْسِ الإِسْرَائِيلِيِّينَ إِلَى أُورُشَلِيمَ، أَيْ يَبُوسَ الآهِلَةِ بِسُكَّانِهَا الْيَبُوسِيِّينَ. | ٤ 4 |
And the king and his men went to Jerusalem, this [is] Jebus; and there the Jebusites the inhabitants of the land said to David,
| فَقَالَ الْيَبُوسِيُّونَ لِدَاوُدَ: «لا يُمْكِنُكَ أَنْ تَدْخُلَ إِلَى هُنَا». فَاسْتَوْلَى دَاوُدُ عَلَى قَلْعَةِ صِهْيَوْنَ الَّتِي دُعِيَتْ فِي مَا بَعْدُ مَدِينَةَ دَاوُدَ. | ٥ 5 |
Thou shalt not enter in hither. But he took the strong hold of Sion: this [is] the city of David.
| ثُمَّ قَالَ دَاوُدُ لِرِجَالِهِ: «إِنَّ مَنْ يَقْتَحِمُ الْيَبُوسِيِّينَ يُصْبِحُ قَائِداً لِلْجَيْشِ». فَهَاجَمَهُمْ يُوآبُ ابْنُ صُرُوِيَّةَ أَوَّلاً، وَأَصْبَحَ هُوَ الْقَائِدَ. | ٦ 6 |
And David said, Whoever first smites the Jebusite, even he shall be chief and captain. And Joab the son of Saruia went up first, and became chief.
| وَمَكَثَ دَاوُدُ فِي الْحِصْنِ فَدُعِيَ لِذَلِكَ مَدِينَةَ دَاوُدَ. | ٧ 7 |
And David dwelt in the strong hold; therefore he called it the city of David.
| وَبَنَى الْمَدِينَةَ مِنْ حَوْلِهَا ابْتِدَاءً مِنَ الْقَلْعَةِ إِلَى السُّورِ الْمُحِيطِ بِها. ثُمَّ قَامَ يُوآبُ بِتَجْدِيدِ سَائِرِ الْمَدِينَةِ. | ٨ 8 |
And he fortified the city round about.
| وَكَانَ دَاوُدُ يَزْدَادُ عُلُوَّ شَأْنٍ، لأَنَّ الرَّبَّ الْقَدِيرَ كَانَ مَعَهُ. | ٩ 9 |
And David continued to increase, and the Lord Almighty [was] with him.
| وَهَذِهِ أَسْمَاءُ الرِّجَالِ الَّذِينَ آزَرُوهُ مَعَ بَقِيَّةِ إِسْرَائِيلَ لِيَجْعَلُوهُ مَلِكاً، بِمُقْتَضَى وَعْدِ الرَّبِّ الْمُتَعَلِّقِ بِإِسْرَائِيلَ، | ١٠ 10 |
And these [are] the chiefs of the mighty men, whom David had, who strengthened [themselves] with him in his kingdom, with all Israel, to make him king, according to the word of the Lord concerning Israel.
| وَهَؤُلاءِ هُمْ أَبْطَالُ دَاوُدَ: يَشُبْعَامُ بْنُ حَكْمُونِي، رَئِيسُ الأَبْطَالِ الثَّلاثَةِ، هَاجَمَ بِرُمْحِهِ ثَلاثَ مِئَةٍ وَقَتَلَهُمْ دُفْعَةً وَاحِدَةً. | ١١ 11 |
And this [is] the list of the mighty [men] of David; Jesebada, son of Achaman, first of the thirty: he drew his sword once against three hundred whom he slew at one time.
| ثُمَّ أَلِعَازَارُ بْنُ دُودُو الأَخُوخِيُّ، وَهُوَ وَاحِدٌ مِنَ الأَبْطَالِ الثَّلاثَةِ. | ١٢ 12 |
And after him Eleazar son of Dodai, the Achochite: he was among the three mighty men.
| كَانَ مَعَ دَاوُدَ فِي فَسَّ دَمِّيمَ حِينَ احْتَشَدَ الْفِلِسْطِينِيُّونَ لِلْحَرْبِ فِي حَقْلِ شَعِيرٍ، فَهَرَبَ الْجَيْشُ أَمَامَ الْفِلِسْطِينِيِّينَ. | ١٣ 13 |
He was with David in Phasodamin, and the Philistines were gathered there to battle, and [there was] a portion of the field full of barley; and the people fled before the Philistines.
| غَيْرَ أَنَّهُ ثَبَتَ مَعَ رِجَالِهِ فِي وَسَطِ الْحَقْلِ وَأَنْقَذَهُ وَقَضَى عَلَى الْفِلِسْطِينِيِّينَ، فَآتَاهُمُ الرَّبُّ نُصْرَةً عَظِيمَةً. | ١٤ 14 |
And he stood in the midst of the portion, and rescued it, and smote the Philistines; and the Lord wrought a great deliverance.
| وَانْحَدَرَ ثَلاثَةٌ مِنَ الثَّلاثِينَ قَائِداً إِلَى الْمِنْطَقَةِ الصَّخْرِيَّةِ حَيْثُ كَانَ دَاوُدُ يُقِيمُ فِي مَغَارَةِ عَدُلَّامَ، بَيْنَمَا جَيْشُ الْفِلِسْطِينِيِّينَ مُعَسْكِرٌ فِي وَادِي الرَّفَائِيِّينَ. | ١٥ 15 |
And three of the thirty chiefs went down to the rock to David, to the cave of Odollam, and the camp of the Philistines [was] in the giants' valley.
| وَكَانَ دَاوُدُ آنَئِذٍ مُتَمَنِّعاً فِي الْحِصْنِ، وَحَامِيَةُ الْفِلِسْطِينِيِّينَ قَدِ احْتَلَّتْ بَيْتَ لَحْمٍ. | ١٦ 16 |
And David [was] then in the hold, and the garrison of the Philistines [was] then in Bethleem.
| فَتَأَوَّهَ دَاوُدُ وَقَالَ: «مَنْ يَسْقِينِي مَاءً مِنْ بِئْرِ بَيْتِ لَحْمٍ الْقَائِمَةِ عِنْدَ بَوَّابَةِ الْمَدِينَةِ؟» | ١٧ 17 |
And David longed, and said, Who will give me water to drink of the well of Bethleem, that is in the gate?
| فَاقْتَحَمَ الثَّلاثَةُ مُعَسْكَرَ الْفِلِسْطِينِيِّينَ وَجَاءُوا بِمَاءٍ مِنْ بِئْرِ بَيْتِ لَحْمٍ الْقَائِمَةِ عِنْدَ بَوَّابَةِ الْمَدِينَةِ وَحَمَلُوهُ إِلَى دَاوُدَ، فَأَبَى أَنْ يَشْرَبَ مِنْهُ وَسَكَبَهُ لِلرَّبِّ. | ١٨ 18 |
And the three broke through the camp of the Philistines, and they drew water out of the well that was in Bethleem, which was in the gate, and they took it, and came to David: but David would not drink it, and poured it out to the Lord, and said,
| وَقَالَ: «مَعَاذَ اللهِ أَنْ أَفْعَلَ ذَلِكَ! أَأَشْرَبُ دَمَ هَؤُلاءِ الرِّجَالِ الَّذِينَ جَازَفُوا بِحَيَاتِهِمْ، إِذْ خَاطَرُوا بِأَنْفُسِهِمْ لِيَأْتُوا بِهِ إِلَيَّ؟» وَأَبَى أَنْ يَشْرَبَ مِنْهُ. هَذَا مَا أَقْدَمَ عَلَيْهِ الأَبْطَالُ الثَّلاثَةُ. | ١٩ 19 |
God forbid that I should do this thing: shall I drink the blood of these men with their lives? for with [the peril of] their lives they brought it. So he would not drink it. These things did the three mighty [men].
| وَكَانَ أَبِيشَايُ أَخُو يُوآبَ رَئِيسَ الثَّلاثِينَ أَيْضاً، وَقَدْ هَاجَمَ بِرُمْحِهِ ثَلاثَ مِئَةٍ فَقَتَلَهُمْ، وَاشْتَهَرَ اسْمُهُ إِلَى جَانِبِ الْقُوَّادِ الثَّلاثَةِ. | ٢٠ 20 |
And Abisa the brother of Joab, he was chief of three: he drew his sword against three hundred slain at one time, and he had a name among the [second] three.
| وَمَعَ أَنَّهُ لَمْ يَبْلُغْ مَرْتَبَةَ الْقُوَّادِ الثَّلاثَةِ الأَوَّلِينَ، إِلّا أَنَّهُ كَانَ قَائِداً لِلثَّلاثِينَ رَئِيساً. | ٢١ 21 |
He was more famous than the two [others] of the three, and he was chief [over] them; yet he reached not to the [first] three.
| وَهُنَاكَ أَيْضاً بَنَايَاهُو بْنُ يَهُويَادَاعَ، مُحَارِبٌ جَبَّارٌ كَثِيرُ الْبُطُولاتِ، مِنْ قَبْصِيئِيلَ، وَهُوَ الَّذِي قَتَلَ بَطَلَيْ مُوآبَ، وَقَضَى عَلَى أَسَدٍ فِي وَسَطِ جُبٍّ فِي يَوْمٍ مُثْلِجٍ، | ٢٢ 22 |
And Banaia the son of Jodae was the son of a mighty man: many [were] his acts for Cabasael: he smote two lion-like men of Moab, and he went down and smote a lion in a pit on a snowy day.
| كَمَا قَتَلَ عِمْلاقاً مِصْرِيًّا طُولُهُ خَمْسُ أَذْرُعٍ (نَحْوَ مِتْرَيْنِ وَنِصْفٍ)، كَانَ مُتَسَلِّحاً بِرُمْحٍ كَنَوْلِ النَّسَّاجِينَ، فَتَقَدَّمَ مِنْهُ بِعَصاً وَخَطَفَ الرُّمْحَ مِنْ يَدِهِ وَقَتَلَهُ بِهِ. | ٢٣ 23 |
And he smote an Egyptian, a wonderful man five cubits [high]; and in the hand of the Egyptian [there was] a spear like a weavers' beam; and Banaia went down to him with a staff, and took the spear out of the Egyptian's hand, and slew him with his own spear.
| هَذَا مَا أَقْدَمَ عَلَيْهِ بَنَايَاهُو بْنُ يَهُويَادَاعَ فَذَاعَتْ شُهْرَتُهُ إِلَى جَانِبِ الأَبْطَالِ الثَّلاثَةِ، | ٢٤ 24 |
These things did Banaia son of Jodae, and his name [was] among the three mighties.
| وَعَلا شَأْنُهُ بَيْنَ الثَّلاثِينَ قَائِداً، وَإِنْ لَمْ يَبْلُغْ مَرْتَبَةَ الأَبْطَالِ الثَّلاثَةِ. فَجَعَلَهُ دَاوُدُ مِنْ أُمَنَاءِ سِرِّهِ. | ٢٥ 25 |
He was distinguished beyond the thirty, yet he reached not to the [first] three: and David set him over his family.
| أَمَّا أَبْطَالُ الْجَيْشِ فَهُمْ: عَسَائِيلُ أَخُو يُوآبَ، وَأَلْحَانَانُ بْنُ دُودُوَ مِنْ بَيْتِ لَحْمٍ. | ٢٦ 26 |
And the mighty [men] of the forces [were], Asael the brother of Joab, Eleanan the son of Dodoe of Bethleem,
| وَشَمُّوتُ الْهَرُورِيُّ، وَحَالَصُ الْفَلُونِيُّ، | ٢٧ 27 |
Samaoth the Arorite, Chelles the Phelonite,
| وَعِيرَا بْنُ عِقِّيشَ التَّقُوعِيُّ، وَأَبِيعَزَرُ الْعَنَاثُوثِيُّ، | ٢٨ 28 |
Ora the son of Ekkis the Thecoite, Abiezer the Anathothite,
| وَسِبْكَايُ الْحُوشَاتِيُّ، وَعِيلايُ الأَخُوخِيُّ، | ٢٩ 29 |
Sobochai the Usathite, Eli the Achonite,
| وَمَهْرَايُ النَّطُوفَاتِيُّ، وَخَالِدُ بْنُ بَعْنَةَ النَّطُوفَاتِيُّ، | ٣٠ 30 |
Marai the Netophathite, Chthaod the son of Nooza the Netophathite,
| وَإِتَّايُ بْنُ رِيبَايَ مِنْ جِبْعَةِ بِنِي بِنْيَامِينَ، وَبَنَايَا الْفَرْعَتُونِيُّ، | ٣١ 31 |
Airi the son of Rebie of the hill of Benjamin, Banaias the Pharathonite,
| وَحُورَايُ مِنْ أَوْدِيَةِ جَاعَشَ، وَأَبِيئِيلُ الْعَرَبَاتِيُّ، | ٣٢ 32 |
Uri of Nachali Gaas, Abiel the Garabaethite,
| وَعَزْمُوتُ الْبَحْرُومِيُّ، وَإِلْيَحْبَا الشَّعَلْبُونِيُّ، | ٣٣ 33 |
Azbon the Baromite, Eliaba the Salabonite,
| وَأَبْنَاءُ هَاشِمَ الْجَزُونِيِّ، وَيُونَاثَانُ بْنُ شَاجَايَ الْهَرَارِيُّ، | ٣٤ 34 |
the son of Asam the Gizonite, Jonathan the son of Sola the Ararite,
| وَأَخِيآمُ بْنُ سَاكَارَ الْهَرَارِيُّ، وَأَلِيفَالُ بْنُ أُورَ، | ٣٥ 35 |
Achim the son of Achar the Ararite, Elphat the son of Thyrophar
| وَحَافِرُ الْمَكِيرَاتِيُّ، وَأَخِيَّا الْفَلُونِيُّ، | ٣٦ 36 |
the Mechorathrite, Achia the Phellonite,
| وَحَصْرُو الْكَرْمَلِيُّ، وَنَعْرَايُ بْنُ أَزْبَايَ، | ٣٧ 37 |
Esere the Charmadaite, Naarai the son of Azobai,
| وَيُوئِيلُ أَخُو نَاثَانَ، وَمِبْحَارُ بْنُ هَجْرِي، | ٣٨ 38 |
Joel the son of Nathan, Mebaal son of Agari,
| وَصَالِقُ الْعَمُّونِيُّ، وَنَحْرَايُ الْبَئِيرُوتِيُّ حَامِلُ سِلاحِ يُوآبَ ابْنِ صُرُوِيَّةَ، | ٣٩ 39 |
Sele the son of Ammoni, Nachor the Berothite, armour-bearer to the son of Saruia,
| وَعِيرَا الْيِثْرِيُّ، وَجَارِبُ الْيِثْرِيُّ، | ٤٠ 40 |
Ira the Jethrite, Gaber the Jethrite,
| وَأُورِيَّا الْحِثِّيُّ، وَزَابَادُ بْنُ أَحْلايَ، | ٤١ 41 |
Uria the Chettite, Zabet son of Achaia,
| وَعَدِينَا بْنُ شِيزَا الرَّأُوبَيْنِيُّ زَعِيمُ الرَّأُوبَيْنِيِّينَ وَمَعَهُ ثَلاثُونَ جُنْدِيًّا، | ٤٢ 42 |
Adina son of Saeza, a chief of Ruben, and thirty with him,
| وَحَانَانُ ابْنُ مَعْكَةَ، وَيُوشَافَاطُ الْمَثْنِيُّ، | ٤٣ 43 |
Anan the son of Moocha, and Josaphat the Matthanite,
| وَعُزِّيَّا الْعَشْتَرُوِتيُّ، وَشَامَاعُ وَيَعُوئِيلُ ابْنَا حُوثَامَ الْعَرُوعِيرِيِّ، | ٤٤ 44 |
Ozia the Astarothite, Samatha and Jeiel sons of Chotham the Ararite,
| وَيَدِيعَئِيلُ وَيُوحَا ابْنَا شِمْرِي مِنْ تِيصَ، | ٤٥ 45 |
Jediel the son of Sameri, and Jozae his brother the Thosaite,
| وَإِيلِيئِيلُ مِنْ مَحْوِيمَ، وَيَرِيبَايُ وَيُوشُويَا ابْنَا أَلْنَعَمَ، وَيِثْمَةُ الْمُوآبِيُّ، | ٤٦ 46 |
Eliel the Maoite, and Jaribi, and Josia his son, Ellaam, and Jethama the Moabite,
| وَإِيلِيئِيلُ وَعُوبِيدُ وَيَعِسِيئِيلُ مِنْ مَصُوبَايَا. | ٤٧ 47 |
Daliel, and Obeth, and Jessiel of Mesobia.
