أَمْثَالٌ 15

١ 1 اَلْجَوَابُ ٱللَّيِّنُ يَصْرِفُ ٱلْغَضَبَ، وَٱلْكَلَامُ ٱلْمُوجِعُ يُهَيِّجُ ٱلسَّخَطَ.

A soft answer, turneth away wrath, but a cutting word raiseth anger.

٢ 2 لِسَانُ ٱلْحُكَمَاءِ يُحَسِّنُ ٱلْمَعْرِفَةَ، وَفَمُ ٱلْجُهَّالِ يُنْبِعُ حَمَاقَةً.

The tongue of the wise, adorneth knowledge, —but, the mouth of dullards, belcheth out folly.

٣ 3 فِي كُلِّ مَكَانٍ عَيْنَا ٱلرَّبِّ مُرَاقِبَتَانِ ٱلطَّالِحِينَ وَٱلصَّالِحِينَ.

In every place, are the eyes of Yahweh, observing the evil and the good.

٤ 4 هُدُوءُ ٱللِّسَانِ شَجَرَةُ حَيَاةٍ، وَٱعْوِجَاجُهُ سَحْقٌ فِي ٱلرُّوحِ.

Gentleness of the tongue, is a tree of life, but, crookedness therein, a grievous wound in the spirit.

٥ 5 اَلْأَحْمَقُ يَسْتَهِينُ بِتَأْدِيبِ أَبِيهِ، أَمَّا مُرَاعِي ٱلتَّوْبِيخِ فَيَذْكَى.

A foolish [son], spurneth the correction of his father, but, he that heedeth a reproof, sheweth prudence.

٦ 6 فِي بَيْتِ ٱلصِّدِّيقِ كَنْزٌ عَظِيمٌ، وَفِي دَخْلِ ٱلْأَشْرَارِ كَدَرٌ.

The household of the righteous man, is a great treasure, but, in the increase of the lawless, is disturbance.

٧ 7 شِفَاهُ ٱلْحُكَمَاءِ تَذُرُّ مَعْرِفَةً، أَمَّا قَلْبُ ٱلْجُهَّالِ فَلَيْسَ كَذَلِكَ.

The lips of the wise, scatter abroad knowledge, but, the heart of dullards, is not right.

٨ 8 ذَبِيحَةُ ٱلْأَشْرَارِ مَكْرَهَةُ ٱلرَّبِّ، وَصَلَاةُ ٱلْمُسْتَقِيمِينَ مَرْضَاتُهُ.

The sacrifice of lawless men, is an abomination to Yahweh, but, the prayer of the upright, is his delight.

٩ 9 مَكْرَهَةُ ٱلرَّبِّ طَرِيقُ ٱلشِّرِّيرِ، وَتَابِعُ ٱلْبِرِّ يُحِبُّهُ.

An abomination to Yahweh, is the way of the lawless, but, the pursuer of righteousness, he loveth.

١٠ 10 تَأْدِيبُ شَرٍّ لِتَارِكِ ٱلطَّرِيقِ. مُبْغِضُ ٱلتَّوْبِيخِ يَمُوتُ.

There is, grievous correction, for him that forsaketh the right path, He that hateth rebuke, shall die.

١١ 11 اَلْهَاوِيَةُ وَٱلْهَلَاكُ أَمَامَ ٱلرَّبِّ. كَمْ بِٱلْحَرِيِّ قُلُوبُ بَنِي آدَمَ! (Sheol h7585)

Hades and destruction, are before Yahweh, how much more then, the hearts of the sons of men. (Sheol h7585)

١٢ 12 اَلْمُسْتَهْزِئُ لَا يُحِبُّ مُوَبِّخَهُ. إِلَى ٱلْحُكَمَاءِ لَا يَذْهَبُ.

A scoffer, loveth not, one who reproveth him, unto the wise, doth he not go.

١٣ 13 اَلْقَلْبُ ٱلْفَرْحَانُ يَجْعَلُ ٱلْوَجْهَ طَلِقًا، وَبِحُزْنِ ٱلْقَلْبِ تَنْسَحِقُ ٱلرُّوحُ.

A joyful heart, maketh a pleasing countenance, —but, in sorrow of heart, is a stricken spirit.

١٤ 14 قَلْبُ ٱلْفَهِيمِ يَطْلُبُ مَعْرِفَةً، وَفَمُ ٱلْجُهَّالِ يَرْعَى حَمَاقَةً.

The heart of the intelligent, seeketh knowledge, but, the mouth of dullards, feedeth on folly.

١٥ 15 كُلُّ أَيَّامِ ٱلْحَزِينِ شَقِيَّةٌ، أَمَّا طَيِّبُ ٱلْقَلْبِ فَوَلِيمَةٌ دَائِمَةٌ.

All the days of the afflicted, are sorrowful, but, a cheerful heart, is a continual banquet.

١٦ 16 اَلْقَلِيلُ مَعَ مَخَافَةِ ٱلرَّبِّ، خَيْرٌ مِنْ كَنْزٍ عَظِيمٍ مَعَ هَمٍّ.

Better is a little, with the reverence of Yahweh, than great treasure, and disquietude therewith.

١٧ 17 أَكْلَةٌ مِنَ ٱلْبُقُولِ حَيْثُ تَكُونُ ٱلْمَحَبَّةُ، خَيْرٌ مِنْ ثَوْرٍ مَعْلُوفٍ وَمَعَهُ بُغْضَةٌ.

Better is an allowance of herbs, and love, there, than a fatted ox, and hatred therewith.

١٨ 18 اَلرَّجُلُ ٱلْغَضُوبُ يُهَيِّجُ ٱلْخُصُومَةَ، وَبَطِيءُ ٱلْغَضَبِ يُسَكِّنُ ٱلْخِصَامَ.

A wrathful man, stirreth up strife, but, he that is slow to anger, calmeth contention.

١٩ 19 طَرِيقُ ٱلْكَسْلَانِ كَسِيَاجٍ مِنْ شَوْكٍ، وَطَرِيقُ ٱلْمُسْتَقِيمِينَ مَنْهَجٌ.

The way of the sluggard, is like a thorn hedge, but, the path of the upright, is a raised road.

٢٠ 20 اَلِٱبْنُ ٱلْحَكِيمُ يَسُرُّ أَبَاهُ، وَٱلرَّجُلُ ٱلْجَاهِلُ يَحْتَقِرُ أُمَّهُ.

A wise son, maketh a glad father, —but, a dullard, despiseth his own mother.

٢١ 21 ٱلْحَمَاقَةُ فَرَحٌ لِنَاقِصِ ٱلْفَهْمِ، أَمَّا ذُو ٱلْفَهْمِ فَيُقَوِّمُ سُلُوكَهُ.

Folly, is joy to him that lacketh sense, —but, a man of understanding, taketh a straight course.

٢٢ 22 مَقَاصِدُ بِغَيْرِ مَشُورَةٍ تَبْطُلُ، وَبِكَثْرَةِ ٱلْمُشِيرِينَ تَقُومُ.

Plans, are frustrated, for lack of consultation, but, by the multitude of counsellors, shall counsel, be established.

٢٣ 23 لِلْإِنْسَانِ فَرَحٌ بِجَوَابِ فَمِهِ، وَٱلْكَلِمَةُ فِي وَقْتِهَا مَا أَحْسَنَهَا!

A man hath joy, in the answer of his own mouth, and, a word in its season, —how good!

٢٤ 24 طَرِيقُ ٱلْحَيَاةِ لِلْفَطِنِ إِلَى فَوْقُ، لِلْحَيَدَانِ عَنِ ٱلْهَاوِيَةِ مِنْ تَحْتُ. (Sheol h7585)

The way of life, is upwards to the prudent, that he may depart from hades beneath. (Sheol h7585)

٢٥ 25 اَلرَّبُّ يَقْلَعُ بَيْتَ ٱلْمُتَكَبِّرِينَ، وَيُوَطِّدُ تُخْمَ ٱلْأَرْمَلَةِ.

The house of proud men, will Yahweh tear down, but he will maintain the boundary of the widow.

٢٦ 26 مَكْرَهَةُ ٱلرَّبِّ أَفْكَارُ ٱلشِّرِّيرِ، وَلِلْأَطْهَارِ كَلَامٌ حَسَنٌ.

An abomination to Yahweh, are the plottings of the wicked, but, with the pure, are sayings of sweetness.

٢٧ 27 اَلْمُولَعُ بِٱلْكَسْبِ يُكَدِّرُ بَيْتَهُ، وَٱلْكَارِهُ ٱلْهَدَايَا يَعِيشُ.

He, troubleth his own house, who graspeth with greed, but, he that hateth gifts, shall live.

٢٨ 28 قَلْبُ ٱلصِّدِّيقِ يَتَفَكَّرُ بِٱلْجَوَابِ، وَفَمُ ٱلْأَشْرَارِ يُنْبِعُ شُرُورًا.

The heart of the righteous, studieth to answer, but, the mouth of the lawless, belcheth out mischiefs.

٢٩ 29 اَلرَّبُّ بَعِيدٌ عَنِ ٱلْأَشْرَارِ، وَيَسْمَعُ صَلَاةَ ٱلصِّدِّيقِينَ.

Far off is Yahweh, from the lawless, but, the prayer of the righteous, will he hear.

٣٠ 30 نُورُ ٱلْعَيْنَيْنِ يُفَرِّحُ ٱلْقَلْبَ. اَلْخَبَرُ ٱلطَّيِّبُ يُسَمِّنُ ٱلْعِظَامَ.

The sparkling of bright eyes, rejoiceth the heart, Good news, giveth marrow to the bones.

٣١ 31 اَلْأُذُنُ ٱلسَّامِعَةُ تَوْبِيخَ ٱلْحَيَاةِ تَسْتَقِرُّ بَيْنَ ٱلْحُكَمَاءِ.

The ear that heareth the reproof which giveth life, in the midst of the wise, shall remain.

٣٢ 32 مَنْ يَرْفُضُ ٱلتَّأْدِيبَ يُرْذِلُ نَفْسَهُ، وَمَنْ يَسْمَعُ لِلتَّوْبِيخِ يَقْتَنِي فَهْمًا.

He that declineth correction, despiseth his own soul, but, he that heareth reproof, gaineth sense.

٣٣ 33 مَخَافَةُ ٱلرَّبِّ أَدَبُ حِكْمَةٍ، وَقَبْلَ ٱلْكَرَامَةِ ٱلتَّوَاضُعُ.

The reverence of Yahweh, is the correction of wisdom, and, before honour, is humility.
