أَيُّوبَ 31

١ 1 «عَهْدًا قَطَعْتُ لِعَيْنَيَّ، فَكَيْفَ أَتَطَلَّعُ فِي عَذْرَاءَ؟

A covenant I made to eyes my and what? will I look carefully on a virgin.

٢ 2 وَمَا هِيَ قِسْمَةُ ٱللهِ مِنْ فَوْقُ، وَنَصِيبُ ٱلْقَدِيرِ مِنَ ٱلْأَعَالِي؟

And what? - [is] [the] portion of God above and [the] inheritance of [the] Almighty from high places.

٣ 3 أَلَيْسَ ٱلْبَوَارُ لِعَامِلِ ٱلشَّرِّ، وَٱلنُّكْرُ لِفَاعِلِي ٱلْإِثْمِ؟

¿ Not [does] calamity [belong] to an evil-doer and misfortune to [those who] do wickedness.

٤ 4 أَلَيْسَ هُوَ يَنْظُرُ طُرُقِي، وَيُحْصِي جَمِيعَ خَطَوَاتِي؟

¿ Not he does he see ways my and all steps my does he count?

٥ 5 إِنْ كُنْتُ قَدْ سَلَكْتُ مَعَ ٱلْكَذِبِ، أَوْ أَسْرَعَتْ رِجْلِي إِلَى ٱلْغِشِّ،

If I have walked with falsehood and it has made haste to deceit foot my.

٦ 6 لِيَزِنِّي فِي مِيزَانِ ٱلْحَقِّ، فَيَعْرِفَ ٱللهُ كَمَالِي.

Let him weigh me in balances of righteousness and let him acknowledge God integrity my.

٧ 7 إِنْ حَادَتْ خَطَوَاتِي عَنِ ٱلطَّرِيقِ، وَذَهَبَ قَلْبِي وَرَاءَ عَيْنَيَّ، أَوْ لَصِقَ عَيْبٌ بِكَفِّي،

If it turned aside step my from the way and after eyes my it has gone heart my and to hands my it has stuck a blemish.

٨ 8 أَزْرَعْ وَغَيْرِي يَأْكُلْ، وَفُرُوعِي تُسْتَأْصَلْ.

Let me sow and another let him eat and produce my let them be rooted up.

٩ 9 «إِنْ غَوِيَ قَلْبِي عَلَى ٱمْرَأَةٍ، أَوْ كَمَنْتُ عَلَى بَابِ قَرِيبِي،

If it has been deceived heart my on a woman and at [the] doorway of neighbor my I have lain in wait.

١٠ 10 فَلْتَطْحَنِ ٱمْرَأَتِي لِآخَرَ، وَلْيَنْحَنِ عَلَيْهَا آخَرُونَ.

Let her grind for another wife my and over her let them bow down! others.

١١ 11 لِأَنَّ هَذِهِ رَذِيلَةٌ، وَهِيَ إِثْمٌ يُعْرَضُ لِلْقُضَاةِ.

For (that *Q(K)*) [is] wickedness (and that *Q(k)*) [is] iniquity judges.

١٢ 12 لِأَنَّهَا نَارٌ تَأْكُلُ حَتَّى إِلَى ٱلْهَلَاكِ، وَتَسْتَأْصِلُ كُلَّ مَحْصُولِي.

For [is] a fire that [which] to Abaddon it will devour and all produce my it will root up.

١٣ 13 «إِنْ كُنْتُ رَفَضْتُ حَقَّ عَبْدِي وَأَمَتِي فِي دَعْوَاهُمَا عَلَيَّ،

If I rejected [the] cause of male servant my and female servant my in complaint their with me.

١٤ 14 فَمَاذَا كُنْتُ أَصْنَعُ حِينَ يَقُومُ ٱللهُ؟ وَإِذَا ٱفْتَقَدَ، فَبِمَاذَا أُجِيبُهُ؟

And what? will I do if he will arise God and if he will visit what? will I respond to him.

١٥ 15 أَوَلَيْسَ صَانِعِي فِي ٱلْبَطْنِ صَانِعَهُ، وَقَدْ صَوَّرَنَا وَاحِدٌ فِي ٱلرَّحِمِ؟

¿ Not in the belly [the one who] made me did he make him and did prepare us? he in the womb one.

١٦ 16 إِنْ كُنْتُ مَنَعْتُ ٱلْمَسَاكِينَ عَنْ مُرَادِهِمْ، أَوْ أَفْنَيْتُ عَيْنَيِ ٱلْأَرْمَلَةِ،

If I withheld any of [the] desire of poor [people] and [the] eyes of a widow I caused to fail.

١٧ 17 أَوْ أَكَلْتُ لُقْمَتِي وَحْدِي فَمَا أَكَلَ مِنْهَا ٱلْيَتِيمُ.

And I may eat morsel of bread my to alone me and not he ate a fatherless one some of it.

١٨ 18 بَلْ مُنْذُ صِبَايَ كَبِرَ عِنْدِي كَأَبٍ، وَمِنْ بَطْنِ أُمِّي هَدَيْتُهَا.

For since youth my he grew up with me like a father and from [the] womb of mother my I guided her.

١٩ 19 إِنْ كُنْتُ رَأَيْتُ هَالِكًا لِعَدَمِ ٱللِّبْسِ أَوْ فَقِيرًا بِلَا كِسْوَةٍ،

If I saw [one who] was perishing because not clothing and not covering [belonged] to the needy [person].

٢٠ 20 إِنْ لَمْ تُبَارِكْنِي حَقَوَاهُ وَقَدِ ٱسْتَدْفَأَ بِجَزَّةِ غَنَمِي.

If not they blessed me (loins his *Q(K)*) and from [the] fleece of lambs my he warmed himself.

٢١ 21 إِنْ كُنْتُ قَدْ هَزَزْتُ يَدِي عَلَى ٱلْيَتِيمِ لَمَّا رَأَيْتُ عَوْنِي فِي ٱلْبَابِ،

If I brandished on a fatherless one hand my for I saw in the gate help my.

٢٢ 22 فَلْتَسْقُطْ عَضُدِي مِنْ كَتِفِي، وَلْتَنْكَسِرْ ذِرَاعِي مِنْ قَصَبَتِهَا،

Shoulder my from its shoulder let it fall and arm my from arm its let it be broken.

٢٣ 23 لِأَنَّ ٱلْبَوَارَ مِنَ ٱللهِ رُعْبٌ عَلَيَّ، وَمِنْ جَلَالِهِ لَمْ أَسْتَطِعْ.

For [was] a fear to me calamity of God and from majesty his not I am able.

٢٤ 24 «إِنْ كُنْتُ قَدْ جَعَلْتُ ٱلذَّهَبَ عَمْدَتِي، أَوْ قُلْتُ لِلْإِبْرِيزِ: أَنْتَ مُتَّكَلِي.

If I have made gold confidence my and to pure gold I have said security my.

٢٥ 25 إِنْ كُنْتُ قَدْ فَرِحْتُ إِذْ كَثُرَتْ ثَرْوَتِي وَلِأَنَّ يَدِي وَجَدَتْ كَثِيرًا.

If I rejoiced for [was] great wealth my and for much it had found hand my.

٢٦ 26 إِنْ كُنْتُ قَدْ نَظَرْتُ إِلَى ٱلنُّورِ حِينَ ضَاءَ، أَوْ إِلَى ٱلْقَمَرِ يَسِيرُ بِٱلْبَهَاءِ،

If I saw a light that it shone and [the] moon splendid [was] going.

٢٧ 27 وَغَوِيَ قَلْبِي سِرًّا، وَلَثَمَ يَدِي فَمِي،

And it was gullible in secrecy heart my and it kissed hand my mouth my.

٢٨ 28 فَهَذَا أَيْضًا إِثْمٌ يُعْرَضُ لِلْقُضَاةِ، لِأَنِّي أَكُونُ قَدْ جَحَدْتُ ٱللهَ مِنْ فَوْقُ.

Also that [is] iniquity calling for judgment for I denied God above.

٢٩ 29 «إِنْ كُنْتُ قَدْ فَرِحْتُ بِبَلِيَّةِ مُبْغِضِي أَوْ شَمِتُّ حِينَ أَصَابَهُ سُوءٌ.

If I rejoiced in [the] disaster of [one who] hated me and I excited myself if it had found him calamity.

٣٠ 30 بَلْ لَمْ أَدَعْ حَنَكِي يُخْطِئُ فِي طَلَبِ نَفْسِهِ بِلَعْنَةٍ.

And not I have permitted to sin palate my by asking for by a curse life his.

٣١ 31 إِنْ كَانَ أَهْلُ خَيْمَتِي لَمْ يَقُولُوا: مَنْ يَأْتِي بِأَحَدٍ لَمْ يَشْبَعْ مِنْ طَعَامِهِ؟

If not they have said [the] men of tent my who? will he give from meat his not [one who] is satisfied.

٣٢ 32 غَرِيبٌ لَمْ يَبِتْ فِي ٱلْخَارِجِ. فَتَحْتُ لِلْمُسَافِرِ أَبْوَابِي.

In the street not he passed [the] night a sojourner doors my to the path I opened.

٣٣ 33 إِنْ كُنْتُ قَدْ كَتَمْتُ كَٱلنَّاسِ ذَنْبِي لِإِخْفَاءِ إِثْمِي فِي حِضْنِي.

If I have concealed like Adam transgressions my by hiding in bosom my iniquity my.

٣٤ 34 إِذْ رَهِبْتُ جُمْهُورًا غَفِيرًا، وَرَوَّعَتْنِي إِهَانَةُ ٱلْعَشَائِرِ، فَكَفَفْتُ وَلَمْ أَخْرُجْ مِنَ ٱلْبَابِ.

For I feared - a multitude great and [the] contempt of clans it caused to be dismayed me and I was silent not I went outside [the] door.

٣٥ 35 مَنْ لِي بِمَنْ يَسْمَعُنِي؟ هُوَذَا إِمْضَائِي. لِيُجِبْنِي ٱلْقَدِيرُ. وَمَنْ لِي بِشَكْوَى كَتَبَهَا خَصْمِي،

Who? will he give [will belong] to me - [one who] listens to me here! mark my [the] Almighty let him answer me and a document [which] he had written [the] person of case my.

٣٦ 36 فَكُنْتُ أَحْمِلُهَا عَلَى كَتِفِي. كُنْتُ أُعْصِبُهَا تَاجًا لِي.

If not on shoulder my I will carry it I will tie on it a crown to myself.

٣٧ 37 كُنْتُ أُخْبِرُهُ بِعَدَدِ خَطَوَاتِي وَأَدْنُو مِنْهُ كَشَرِيفٍ.

[the] number of Steps my I will tell to him like a chief I will approach him.

٣٨ 38 إِنْ كَانَتْ أَرْضِي قَدْ صَرَخَتْ عَلَيَّ وَتَبَاكَتْ أَتْلَامُهَا جَمِيعًا.

If on me land my it cried out and together furrows its they wept!

٣٩ 39 إِنْ كُنْتُ قَدْ أَكَلْتُ غَلَّتَهَا بِلَا فِضَّةٍ، أَوْ أَطْفَأْتُ أَنْفُسَ أَصْحَابِهَا،

If produce its I have eaten not money and [the] life of owners its I have caused to breathe out.

٤٠ 40 فَعِوَضَ ٱلْحِنْطَةِ لِيَنْبُتْ شَوْكٌ، وَبَدَلَ ٱلشَّعِيرِ زَوَانٌ». تَمَّتْ أَقْوَالُ أَيُّوبَ.

In place of wheat - let it come forth thorn[s] and in place of barley foul weed[s] they are finished [the] words of Job.
