أَيُّوبَ 22

١ 1 فَأَجَابَ أَلِيفَازُ ٱلتَّيْمَانِيُّ وَقَالَ:

Then Eliphaz the Temanite answered and said,

٢ 2 «هَلْ يَنْفَعُ ٱلْإِنْسَانُ ٱللهَ؟ بَلْ يَنْفَعُ نَفْسَهُ ٱلْفَطِنُ!

“Can a man be useful to God? Can a wise man be useful to him?

٣ 3 هَلْ مِنْ مَسَرَّةٍ لِلْقَدِيرِ إِذَا تَبَرَّرْتَ، أَوْ مِنْ فَائِدَةٍ إِذَا قَوَّمْتَ طُرُقَكَ؟

Is it any pleasure to the Almighty if you are righteous? Is it gain to him if you make your ways blameless?

٤ 4 هَلْ عَلَى تَقْوَاكَ يُوَبِّخُكَ، أَوْ يَدْخُلُ مَعَكَ فِي ٱلْمُحَاكَمَةِ؟

Is it because of your reverence for him that he rebukes you and takes you to judgment?

٥ 5 أَلَيْسَ شَرُّكَ عَظِيمًا، وَآثَامُكَ لَا نِهَايَةَ لَهَا؟

Is not your wickedness great? Is there no end to your iniquities?

٦ 6 لِأَنَّكَ ٱرْتَهَنْتَ أَخَاكَ بِلَا سَبَبٍ، وَسَلَبْتَ ثِيَابَ ٱلْعُرَاةِ.

For you have demanded guarantee of a loan from your brother for no reason, and you have stripped away clothing from the naked.

٧ 7 مَاءً لَمْ تَسْقِ ٱلْعَطْشَانَ، وَعَنِ ٱلْجَوْعَانِ مَنَعْتَ خُبْزًا.

You have not given water to weary people to drink; you have withheld bread from hungry people

٨ 8 أَمَّا صَاحِبُ ٱلْقُوَّةِ فَلَهُ ٱلْأَرْضُ، وَٱلْمُتَرَفِّعُ ٱلْوَجْهِ سَاكِنٌ فِيهَا.

although you, a mighty man, possessed the earth, although you, an honored man, lived in it.

٩ 9 ٱلْأَرَامِلَ أَرْسَلْتَ خَالِيَاتٍ، وَذِرَاعُ ٱلْيَتَامَى ٱنْسَحَقَتْ.

You have sent widows away empty; the arms of the fatherless have been broken.

١٠ 10 لِأَجْلِ ذَلِكَ حَوَالَيْكَ فِخَاخٌ، وَيُرِيعُكَ رُعْبٌ بَغْتَةً

Therefore, snares are all around you, and sudden fear troubles you.

١١ 11 أَوْ ظُلْمَةٌ فَلَا تَرَى، وَفَيْضُ ٱلْمِيَاهِ يُغَطِّيكَ.

There is darkness, so that you cannot see; an abundance of waters covers you.

١٢ 12 «هُوَذَا ٱللهُ فِي عُلُوِّ ٱلسَّمَاوَاتِ. وَٱنْظُرْ رَأْسَ ٱلْكَوَاكِبِ مَا أَعْلَاهُ!

Is not God in the heights of heaven? Look at the height of the stars, how high they are!

١٣ 13 فَقُلْتَ: كَيْفَ يَعْلَمُ ٱللهُ؟ هَلْ مِنْ وَرَاءِ ٱلضَّبَابِ يَقْضِي؟

You say, 'What does God know? Can he judge through the thick darkness?

١٤ 14 ٱلسَّحَابُ سِتْرٌ لَهُ فَلَا يُرَى، وَعَلَى دَائِرَةِ ٱلسَّمَاوَاتِ يَتَمَشَّى.

Thick clouds are a covering to him, so that he does not see us; he walks on the vault of heaven.'

١٥ 15 هَلْ تَحْفَظُ طَرِيقَ ٱلْقِدَمِ ٱلَّذِي دَاسَهُ رِجَالُ ٱلْإِثْمِ،

Will you keep the old way that wicked men have walked—

١٦ 16 ٱلَّذِينَ قُبِضَ عَلَيْهِمْ قَبْلَ ٱلْوَقْتِ؟ ٱلْغَمْرُ ٱنْصَبَّ عَلَى أَسَاسِهِمِ.

those who were snatched away before their time, those whose foundations have washed away like a river,

١٧ 17 ٱلْقَائِلِينَ لِلهِ: ٱبْعُدْ عَنَّا. وَمَاذَا يَفْعَلُ ٱلْقَدِيرُ لَهُمْ؟

those who said to God, 'Depart from us'; those who said, 'What can the Almighty do to us?'

١٨ 18 وَهُوَ قَدْ مَلَأَ بُيُوتَهُمْ خَيْرًا. لِتَبْعُدْ عَنِّي مَشُورَةُ ٱلْأَشْرَارِ.

Yet he filled their houses with good things; the plans of wicked people are far from me.

١٩ 19 ٱلْأَبْرَارُ يَنْظُرُونَ وَيَفْرَحُونَ، وَٱلْبَرِيءُ يَسْتَهْزِئُ بِهِمْ قَائِلِينَ:

Righteous people see their fate and are glad; innocent people laugh them to scorn.

٢٠ 20 أَلَمْ يُبَدْ مُقَاوِمُونَا، وَبَقِيَّتُهُمْ قَدْ أَكَلَتْهَا ٱلنَّارُ؟

They say, 'Surely those who rose up against us are cut off; fire has consumed their possessions.'

٢١ 21 «تَعَرَّفْ بِهِ وَٱسْلَمْ. بِذَلِكَ يَأْتِيكَ خَيْرٌ.

Now agree with God and be at peace with him; in that way, good will come to you.

٢٢ 22 ٱقْبَلِ ٱلشَّرِيعَةَ مِنْ فِيهِ، وَضَعْ كَلَامَهُ فِي قَلْبِكَ.

Receive, I beg you, instruction from his mouth; store up his words in your heart.

٢٣ 23 إِنْ رَجَعْتَ إِلَى ٱلْقَدِيرِ تُبْنَى. إِنْ أَبْعَدْتَ ظُلْمًا مِنْ خَيْمَتِكَ،

If you return to the Almighty, you will be built up, if you put unrighteousness far away from your tents.

٢٤ 24 وَأَلْقَيْتَ ٱلتِّبْرَ عَلَى ٱلتُّرَابِ وَذَهَبَ أُوفِيرَ بَيْنَ حَصَا ٱلْأَوْدِيَةِ.

Lay your treasure down in the dust, the gold of Ophir among the stones of the brooks,

٢٥ 25 يَكُونُ ٱلْقَدِيرُ تِبْرَكَ وَفِضَّةَ أَتْعَابٍ لَكَ،

and the Almighty will be your treasure, precious silver to you.

٢٦ 26 لِأَنَّكَ حِينَئِذٍ تَتَلَذَّذُ بِٱلْقَدِيرِ وَتَرْفَعُ إِلَى ٱللهِ وَجْهَكَ.

For then you will take pleasure in the Almighty; you will lift up your face to God.

٢٧ 27 تُصَلِّي لَهُ فَيَسْتَمِعُ لَكَ، وَنُذُورُكَ تُوفِيهَا.

You will make your prayer to him, and he will hear you; you will pay your vows to him.

٢٨ 28 وَتَجْزِمُ أَمْرًا فَيُثَبَّتُ لَكَ، وَعَلَى طُرُقِكَ يُضِيءُ نُورٌ.

You will also decree anything, and it will be confirmed for you; light will shine on your paths.

٢٩ 29 إِذَا وُضِعُوا تَقُولُ: رَفْعٌ. وَيُخَلِّصُ ٱلْمُنْخَفِضَ ٱلْعَيْنَيْنِ.

God humbles a proud man, and he saves the one with lowered eyes.

٣٠ 30 يُنَجِّي غَيْرَ ٱلْبَرِيءِ وَيُنْجَى بِطَهَارَةِ يَدَيْكَ».

He will rescue even the man who is not innocent; who will be rescued through the cleanness of your hands.”
