عَزْرَا 8

١ 1 وَهَؤُلَاءِ هُمْ رُؤُوسُ آبَائِهِمْ وَنِسْبَةُ ٱلَّذِينَ صَعِدُوا مَعِي فِي مُلْكِ أَرْتَحْشَشْتَا ٱلْمَلِكِ مِنْ بَابِلَ:

Now these are the heads of their fathers, and this is the genealogy of those who went up with me from Babylon, in the reign of Artaxerxes the king:

٢ 2 مِنْ بَنِي فِينَحَاسَ: جِرْشُومُ. مِنْ بَنِي إِيثَامَارَ: دَانِيَالُ. مِنْ بَنِي دَاوُدَ: حَطُّوشُ.

of the sons of Phinehas, Gershom; of the sons of Ithamar, Daniel; of the sons of David, Hattush;

٣ 3 مِنْ بَنِي شَكَنْيَا مِنْ بَنِي فَرْعُوشَ: زَكَرِيَّا، وَٱنْتَسَبَ مَعَهُ مِنَ ٱلذُّكُورِ مِئَةٌ وَخَمْسُونَ.

of the sons of Shecaniah, of the sons of Parosh, Zechariah, and with him were reckoned by genealogy of the males a hundred and fifty;

٤ 4 مِنْ بَنِي فَحَثَ مُوآبَ: أَلِيهُوعِينَايُ بْنُ زَرَحْيَا، وَمَعَهُ مِئَتَانِ مِنَ ٱلذُّكُورِ.

of the sons of Pahath-moab, Eliehoenai the son of Zerahiah, and with him two hundred males;

٥ 5 مِنْ بَنِي شَكَنْيَا: ٱبْنُ يَحْزِيئِيلَ، وَمَعَهُ ثَلَاثُ مِئَةٍ مِنَ ٱلذُّكُورِ.

of the sons of Shecaniah, the son of Jahaziel, and with him three hundred males;

٦ 6 مِنْ بَنِي عَادِينَ: عَابِدُ بْنُ يُونَاثَانَ، وَمَعَهُ خَمْسُونَ مِنَ ٱلذُّكُورِ.

and of the sons of Adin, Ebed the son of Jonathan, and with him fifty males;

٧ 7 مِنْ بَنِي عِيلَامَ: يَشْعِيَا بْنُ عَثَلِيَا، وَمَعَهُ سَبْعُونَ مِنَ ٱلذُّكُورِ.

and of the sons of Elam, Jeshaiah the son of Athaliah, and with him seventy males;

٨ 8 وَمِنْ بَنِي شَفَطْيَا: زَبَدْيَا بْنُ مِيخَائِيلَ، وَمَعَهُ ثَمَانُونَ مِنَ ٱلذُّكُورِ.

and of the sons of Shephatiah, Zebadiah the son of Michael, and with him eighty males;

٩ 9 مِنْ بَنِي يُوآبَ: عُوبَدْيَا بْنُ يَحِيئِيلَ، وَمَعَهُ مِئَتَانِ وَثَمَانِيَةَ عَشَرَ مِنَ ٱلذُّكُورِ.

of the sons of Joab, Obadiah the son of Jehiel, and with him two hundred and eighteen males;

١٠ 10 وَمِنْ بَنِي شَلُومِيثَ: ٱبْنُ يُوشَفْيَا، وَمَعَهُ مِئَةٌ وَسِتُّونَ مِنَ ٱلذُّكُورِ.

and of the sons of Shelomith, the son of Josiphiah, and with him a hundred and sixty males;

١١ 11 وَمِنْ بَنِي بَابَايَ: زَكَرِيَّا بْنُ بَابَايَ، وَمَعَهُ ثَمَانِيَةٌ وَعِشْرُونَ مِنَ ٱلذُّكُورِ.

and of the sons of Bebai, Zechariah the son of Bebai, and with him twenty-eight males;

١٢ 12 وَمِنْ بَنِي عَزْجَدَ: يُوحَانَانُ بْنُ هِقَّاطَانَ، وَمَعَهُ مِئَةٌ وَعَشْرَةٌ مِنَ ٱلذُّكُورِ.

and of the sons of Azgad, Johanan the son of Hakkatan, and with him a hundred and ten males;

١٣ 13 وَمِنْ بَنِي أَدُونِيقَامَ ٱلْآخَرِينَ وَهَذِهِ أَسْمَاؤُهُمْ: أَلِيفَلَطُ وَيَعِيئِيلُ وَشَمْعِيَا، وَمَعَهُمْ سِتُّونَ مِنَ ٱلذُّكُورِ.

And of the sons of Adonikam, who were the last, and these are their names: Eliphelet, Jeuel, and Shemaiah, and with them sixty males;

١٤ 14 وَمِنْ بَنِي بَغْوَايَ: عُوتَايُ وَزَبُّودُ، وَمَعَهُمَا سَبْعُونَ مِنَ ٱلذُّكُورِ.

and of the sons of Bigvai, Uthai and Zabbud, and with them seventy males.

١٥ 15 فَجَمَعْتُهُمْ إِلَى ٱلنَّهْرِ ٱلْجَارِي إِلَى أَهْوَا وَنَزَلْنَا هُنَاكَ ثَلَاثَةَ أَيَّامٍ. وَتَأَمَّلْتُ ٱلشَّعْبَ وَٱلْكَهَنَةَ، وَلَكِنَّنِي لَمْ أَجِدْ أَحَدًا مِنَ ٱللَّاوِيِّينَ هُنَاكَ.

And I gathered them together to the river that runs to Ahava, and there we encamped three days. And I viewed the people, and the priests, and found there none of the sons of Levi.

١٦ 16 فَأَرْسَلْتُ إِلَى: أَلِيعَزَرَ وَأَرِيئِيلَ وَشَمْعِيَا وَأَلْنَاثَانَ وَيَارِيبَ وَأَلْنَاثَانَ وَنَاثَانَ وَزَكَرِيَّا وَمَشُلَّامَ ٱلرُّؤُوسِ، وَإِلَى يُويَارِيبَ وَأَلْنَاثَانَ ٱلْفَهِيمَيْنِ،

Then I sent for Eliezer, for Ariel, for Shemaiah, and for Elnathan, and for Jarib, and for Elnathan, and for Nathan, and for Zechariah, and for Meshullam, chief men, also for Joiarib, and for Elnathan, who were teachers.

١٧ 17 وَأَرْسَلْتُهُمْ إِلَى إِدُّو ٱلرَّأْسِ فِي ٱلْمَكَانِ ٱلْمُسَمَّى كَسِفْيَا، وَجَعَلْتُ فِي أَفْوَاهِهِمْ كَلَامًا يُكَلِّمُونَ بِهِ إِدُّوَ وَإِخْوَتَهُ ٱلنَّثِينِيمَ فِي ٱلْمَكَانِ كَسِفْيَا لِيَأْتُوا إِلَيْنَا بِخُدَّامٍ لِبَيْتِ إِلَهِنَا.

And I sent them forth to Iddo the chief at the place Casiphia, and I told them what they should say to Iddo, and his brothers the Nethinim, at the place Casiphia, that they should bring to us ministers for the house of our God.

١٨ 18 فَأَتَوْا إِلَيْنَا حَسَبَ يَدِ ٱللهِ ٱلصَّالِحَةِ عَلَيْنَا بِرَجُلٍ فَطِنٍ مِنْ بَنِي مَحْلِي بْنِ لَاوِي بْنِ إِسْرَائِيلَ وَشَرَبْيَا وَبَنِيهِ وَإِخْوَتِهِ ثَمَانِيَةَ عَشَرَ،

And according to the good hand of our God upon us they brought us a man of discretion, of the sons of Mahli, the son of Levi, the son of Israel, and Sherebiah, with his sons and his brothers, eighteen,

١٩ 19 وَحَشَبْيَا وَمَعْهُ يَشَعْيَا مِنْ بَنِي مَرَارِي وَإِخْوَتُهُ وَبَنُوهُمْ عِشْرُونَ.

and Hashabiah, and with him Jeshaiah of the sons of Merari, his brothers and their sons, twenty,

٢٠ 20 وَمِنَ ٱلنَّثِينِيمِ ٱلَّذِينَ جَعَلَهُمْ دَاوُدُ مَعَ ٱلرُّؤَسَاءِ لِخِدْمَةِ ٱللَّاوِيِّينَ مِنَ ٱلنَّثِينِيمِ مِئَتَيْنِ وَعِشْرِينَ. ٱلْجَمِيعُ تَعَيَّنُوا بِأَسْمَائِهِمْ.

and of the Nethinim, whom David and the rulers had given for the service of the Levites, two hundred and twenty Nethinim. All of them were mentioned by name.

٢١ 21 وَنَادَيْتُ هُنَاكَ بِصَوْمٍ عَلَى نَهْرِ أَهْوَا لِكَيْ نَتَذَلَّلَ أَمَامَ إِلَهِنَا لِنَطْلُبَ مِنْهُ طَرِيقًا مُسْتَقِيمَةً لَنَا وَلِأَطْفَالِنَا وَلِكُلِّ مَالِنَا.

Then I proclaimed a fast there, at the river Ahava, that we might humble ourselves before our God, to seek of him a straight way for us, and for our little ones, and for all our substance.

٢٢ 22 لِأَنِّي خَجِلْتُ مِنْ أَنْ أَطْلُبَ مِنَ ٱلْمَلِكِ جَيْشًا وَفُرْسَانًا لِيُنْجِدُونَا عَلَى ٱلْعَدُوِّ فِي ٱلطَّرِيقِ، لِأَنَّنَا كَلَّمْنَا ٱلْمَلِكَ قَائِلِينَ: «إِنَّ يَدَ إِلَهِنَا عَلَى كُلِّ طَالِبِيهِ لِلْخَيْرِ، وَصَوْلَتَهُ وَغَضَبَهُ عَلَى كُلِّ مَنْ يَتْرُكُهُ».

For I was ashamed to ask of the king a band of soldiers and horsemen to help us against the enemy in the way, because we had spoken to the king, saying, The hand of our God is upon all those who seek him, for good, but his power and his wrath are against all those who forsake him.

٢٣ 23 فَصُمْنَا وَطَلَبْنَا ذَلِكَ مِنْ إِلَهِنَا فَٱسْتَجَابَ لَنَا.

So we fasted and besought our God for this, and he was entreated by us.

٢٤ 24 وَأَفْرَزْتُ مِنْ رُؤَسَاءِ ٱلْكَهَنَةِ ٱثْنَيْ عَشَرَ: شَرَبْيَا وَحَشَبْيَا، وَمَعْهُمَا مِنْ إِخْوَتِهِمَا عَشَرَةٌ.

Then I set apart twelve of the chiefs of the priests, even Sherebiah, Hashabiah, and ten of their brothers with them,

٢٥ 25 وَوَزَنْتُ لَهُمُ ٱلْفِضَّةَ وَٱلذَّهَبَ وَٱلْآنِيَةَ، تَقْدِمَةَ بَيْتِ إِلَهِنَا ٱلَّتِي قَدَّمَهَا ٱلْمَلِكُ وَمُشِيرُوهُ وَرُؤَسَاؤُهُ وَجَمِيعُ إِسْرَائِيلَ ٱلْمَوْجُودِينَ،

and weighed to them the silver, and the gold, and the vessels, even the offering for the house of our God, which the king, and his counselors, and his rulers, and all Israel there present, had offered.

٢٦ 26 وَزَنْتُ لِيَدِهِمْ سِتَّ مِئَةٍ وَخَمْسِينَ وَزْنَةً مِنَ ٱلْفِضَّةِ، وَمِئَةَ وَزْنَةٍ مِنْ آنِيَةِ ٱلْفِضَّةِ، وَمِئَةَ وَزْنَةٍ مِنَ ٱلذَّهَبِ،

I weighed into their hand six hundred and fifty talents of silver, and a hundred talents of silver vessels, a hundred talents of gold,

٢٧ 27 وَعِشْرِينَ قَدَحًا مِنَ ٱلذَّهَبِ أَلْفَ دِرْهَمٍ، وَآنِيَةً مِنْ نُحَاسٍ صَقِيلٍ جَيِّدٍ ثَمِينٍ كَٱلذَّهَبِ.

and twenty bowls of gold, of a thousand darics, and two vessels of fine bright brass, precious as gold.

٢٨ 28 وَقُلْتُ لَهُمْ: «أَنْتُمْ مُقَدَّسُونَ لِلرَّبِّ، وَٱلْآنِيَةُ مُقَدَّسَةٌ، وَٱلْفِضَّةُ وَٱلذَّهَبُ تَبَرُّعٌ لِلرَّبِّ إِلَهِ آبَائِكُمْ.

And I said to them, Ye are holy to Jehovah, and the vessels are holy, and the silver and the gold are a freewill offering to Jehovah, the God of your fathers.

٢٩ 29 فَٱسْهَرُوا وَٱحْفَظُوهَا حَتَّى تَزِنُوهَا أَمَامَ رُؤَسَاءِ ٱلْكَهَنَةِ وَٱللَّاوِيِّينَ وَرُؤَسَاءِ آبَاءِ إِسْرَائِيلَ فِي أُورُشَلِيمَ، فِي مَخَادِعِ بَيْتِ ٱلرَّبِّ».

Watch ye, and keep them, until ye weigh them before the chiefs of the priests and the Levites, and the rulers of the fathers of Israel, at Jerusalem, in the chambers of the house of Jehovah.

٣٠ 30 فَأَخَذَ ٱلْكَهَنَةُ وَٱللَّاوِيُّونَ وَزْنَ ٱلْفِضَّةِ وَٱلذَّهَبِ وَٱلْآنِيَةِ لِيَأْتُوا بِهَا إِلَى أُورُشَلِيمَ، إِلَى بَيْتِ إِلَهِنَا.

So the priests and the Levites received the weight of the silver and the gold, and the vessels, to bring them to Jerusalem to the house of our God.

٣١ 31 ثُمَّ رَحَلْنَا مِنْ نَهْرِ أَهْوَا فِي ٱلثَّانِي عَشَرَ مِنَ ٱلشَّهْرِ ٱلْأَوَّلِ لِنَذْهَبَ إِلَى أُورُشَلِيمَ، وَكَانَتْ يَدُ إِلَهِنَا عَلَيْنَا، فَأَنْقَذَنَا مِنْ يَدِ ٱلْعَدُوِّ وَٱلْكَامِنِ عَلَى ٱلطَّرِيقِ.

Then we departed from the river Ahava on the twelfth day of the first month, to go to Jerusalem. And the hand of our God was upon us, and he delivered us from the hand of the enemy and the ambushment by the way.

٣٢ 32 فَأَتَيْنَا إِلَى أُورُشَلِيمَ وَأَقَمْنَا هُنَاكَ ثَلَاثَةَ أَيَّامٍ.

And we came to Jerusalem, and abode there three days.

٣٣ 33 وَفِي ٱلْيَوْمِ ٱلرَّابِع وُزِنَتِ ٱلْفِضَّةُ وَٱلذَّهَبُ وَٱلْآنِيَةُ فِي بَيْتِ إِلَهِنَا عَلَى يَدِ مَرِيمُوثَ بْنِ أُورِيَّا ٱلْكَاهِنِ، وَمَعَهُ أَلِعَازَارُ بْنُ فِينَحَاسَ، وَمَعَهُمَا يُوزَابَادُ بْنُ يَشُوعَ وَنُوعَدْيَا بْنُ بَنُّويَ ٱللَّاوِيَّانِ.

And on the fourth day the silver and the gold and the vessels were weighed in the house of our God into the hand of Meremoth the son of Uriah the priest, and with him was Eleazar the son of Phinehas, and with them was Jozabad the son of Jeshua, and Noadiah the son of Binnui, the Levite,

٣٤ 34 بِٱلْعَدَدِ وَٱلْوَزْنِ لِلْكُلِّ، وَكُتِبَ كُلُّ ٱلْوَزْنِ فِي ذَلِكَ ٱلْوَقْتِ.

the whole by number and by weight. And all the weight was written at that time.

٣٥ 35 وَبَنُو ٱلسَّبْيِ ٱلْقَادِمُونَ مِنَ ٱلسَّبْيِ قَرَّبُوا مُحْرَقَاتٍ لِإِلَهِ إِسْرَائِيلَ، ٱثْنَيْ عَشَرَ ثَوْرًا عَنْ كُلِّ إِسْرَائِيلَ، وَسِتَّةً وَتِسْعِينَ كَبْشًا وَسَبْعَةً وَسَبْعِينَ خَرُوفًا وَٱثْنَيْ عَشَرَ تَيْسًا، ذَبِيحَةَ خَطِيَّةٍ ٱلْجَمِيعُ مُحْرَقَةٌ لِلرَّبِّ.

The sons of the captivity, who came out of exile, offered burnt offerings to the God of Israel, twelve bullocks for all Israel, ninety-six rams, seventy-seven lambs, twelve he-goats for a sin offering. All this was a burnt offering to Jehovah.

٣٦ 36 وَأَعْطَوْا أَوَامِرَ ٱلْمَلِكِ لِمَرَازِبَةِ ٱلْمَلِكِ وَوُلَاةِ عَبْرِ ٱلنَّهْرِ، فَأَعَانُوا ٱلشَّعْبَ وَبَيْتَ ٱللهِ.

And they delivered the king's commissions to the king's satraps, and to the governors beyond the River. And they furthered the people and the house of God.
