< Matthew 26 >

1 Nígbà tí Jesu ti parí ọ̀rọ̀ wọ̀nyí pẹ̀lú àwọn ọmọ-ẹ̀yìn rẹ̀, ó wí fún wọn pé,
When Jesus had finished saying all these things, he said to his disciples,
2 “Bí ẹ̀yin tí mọ̀ ní ọjọ́ méjì sí i, àjọ ìrékọjá yóò bẹ̀rẹ̀. Àti pé, a ó fi Ọmọ Ènìyàn lé wọn lọ́wọ́, a ó sì kàn mí mọ́ àgbélébùú.”
“You know that after two days the Passover is coming, and the Son of Man will be delivered up to be crucified.”
3 Ní àsìkò tí Jesu ń sọ̀rọ̀ yìí, àwọn olórí àlùfáà àti àwọn àgbàgbà kó ara wọn jọ ní ààfin olórí àlùfáà náà tí à ń pè ní Kaiafa.
Then the chief priests, the scribes, and the elders of the people were gathered together in the courtyard of the high priest, whose name was Caiaphas,
4 Láti gbèrò àwọn ọ̀nà tí wọ́n yóò fi mú Jesu pẹ̀lú ẹ̀tàn, kí wọn sì pa á.
and they plotted together to arrest Jesus secretly and kill him.
5 Ṣùgbọ́n wọ́n fohùn ṣọ̀kan pé, “Kì í ṣe lásìkò àsè àjọ ìrékọjá, nítorí rògbòdìyàn yóò ṣẹlẹ̀.”
But they said, “Not during the feast, lest there be a riot among the people.”
6 Nígbà tí Jesu wà ní Betani ní ilé ọkùnrin tí à ń pè ní Simoni adẹ́tẹ̀.
Now when Jesus was in Bethany, in the house of Simon the leper,
7 Bí ó ti ń jẹun, obìnrin kan wá sọ́dọ̀ rẹ̀ pẹ̀lú alabasita òróró ìkunra iyebíye, ó sì dà á sí i lórí.
a woman came to him with an alabaster jar of very expensive ointment, and she poured it on his head as he reclined at the table.
8 Nígbà tí àwọn ọmọ-ẹ̀yìn rí i, inú bí wọn. Wọ́n wí pé, “Irú ìfowóṣòfò wo ni èyí?
When his disciples saw it, they were indignant and said, “Why this waste?
9 Èéha ti ṣe, obìnrin yìí ìbá tà á ní owó púpọ̀, kí a sì fi owó náà fún àwọn aláìní.”
This ointment could have been sold for a large sum, and the money could have been given to the poor.”
10 Jesu ti mọ èrò ọkàn wọn, ó wí pé, “Èéṣe ti ẹ̀yin fi ń dá obìnrin yìí lẹ́bi? Ó ṣe ohun tí ó dára fún mi.
Aware of this, Jesus said to them, “Why are you causing trouble for this woman? She has done a good deed to me.
11 Ẹ̀yin yóò ní àwọn aláìní láàrín yín nígbà gbogbo, ṣùgbọ́n, ẹ̀yin kò le rí mi nígbà gbogbo.
You always have the poor with you, but you will not always have me.
12 Nípa dída òróró ìkunra yìí sí mi lára, òun ń ṣe èyí fún ìsìnkú mi ni.
She has put this ointment on my body to prepare me for burial.
13 Lóòótọ́ ni mo wí fún yín, a ó sì máa ṣe ìrántí rẹ̀ nígbà gbogbo fún ìṣesí rẹ̀ yìí. Níbikíbi tí a bá ti wàásù ìyìnrere yìí ní gbogbo àgbáyé ni a ó ti sọ ìtàn ohun tí obìnrin yìí ṣe.”
Truly I say to you, wherever this gospel is preached in the whole world, what this woman has done will also be spoken of as a memorial to her.”
14 Nígbà náà ni ọ̀kan nínú àwọn aposteli méjìlá ti à ń pè ní Judasi Iskariotu lọ sọ́dọ̀ àwọn olórí àlùfáà.
Then one of the twelve, the one called Judas Iscariot, went to the chief priests
15 Òun sì béèrè pé, “Kí ni ẹ̀yin yóò san fún mi bí mo bá fi Jesu lé yín lọ́wọ́?” Wọ́n sì fún un ní ọgbọ́n owó fàdákà. Ó sì gbà á.
and said, “What are you willing to give me if I deliver him up to you?” So they set out for him thirty pieces of silver.
16 Láti ìgbà náà lọ ni Judasi ti bẹ̀rẹ̀ sí i wá ọ̀nà láti fà á lé wọn lọ́wọ́.
And from then on he was looking for an opportunity to betray Jesus.
17 Ní ọjọ́ kìn-ín-ní àjọ àìwúkàrà, àwọn ọmọ-ẹ̀yìn tọ Jesu wá pé, “Níbo ni ìwọ fẹ́ kí a pèsè sílẹ̀ láti jẹ àsè ìrékọjá?”
On the first day of the Feast of Unleavened Bread, the disciples came to Jesus and said to him, “Where do yoʋ want us to make preparations for yoʋ to eat the Passover?”
18 Jesu sì dáhùn pé, “Ẹ wọ ìlú lọ, ẹ̀yin yóò rí ọkùnrin kan, ẹ wí fún un pé, ‘Olùkọ́ wa wí pé, àkókò mi ti dé. Èmi yóò sì jẹ àsè ìrékọjá pẹ̀lú àwọn ọmọ-ẹ̀yìn mi ní ilé rẹ.’”
He said, “Go into the city to a certain man and say to him, ‘The Teacher says, “My time is near. I am going to keep the Passover with yoʋ, along with my disciples.”’”
19 Nítorí náà, àwọn ọmọ-ẹ̀yìn náà ṣe gẹ́gẹ́ bí Jesu ti sọ fún wọn. Wọ́n sì tọ́jú oúnjẹ àsè ti ìrékọjá níbẹ̀.
So the disciples did as Jesus had directed them and prepared the Passover.
20 Ní àṣálẹ́ ọjọ́ kan náà, bí Jesu ti jókòó pẹ̀lú àwọn méjìlá,
When evening came, Jesus was reclining at the table with the twelve.
21 nígbà tí wọ́n sì ń jẹun, ó wí pé, “Lóòótọ́ ni mo wí fún yín, ọ̀kan nínú yín yóò fi mí hàn.”
As they were eating, he said, “Truly I say to you, one of you will betray me.”
22 Ìbànújẹ́ sì bo ọkàn wọn nígbà tí wọ́n gbọ́ èyí. Wọ́n sì bẹ̀rẹ̀ sí bi í pé, “Olúwa, èmi ni bí?”
Greatly distressed, they began to say to him one after another, “Surely not I, Lord?”
23 Jesu dáhùn pé, “Ẹni ti ó bá mi tọwọ́ bọ inú àwo, ni yóò fi mi hàn.
Jesus answered, “The one who has dipped his hand with me into the dish will betray me.
24 Ọmọ Ènìyàn ń lọ bí a ti kọ̀wé nípa rẹ̀: ṣùgbọ́n ègbé ni fún ọkùnrin náà lọ́wọ́ ẹni tí a ó ti fi Ọmọ Ènìyàn hàn! Ìbá kúkú sàn fún ẹni náà, bí a kò bá bí.”
The Son of Man indeed goes just as it is written of him, but woe to that man by whom the Son of Man is betrayed! It would have been better for that man if he had not been born.”
25 Judasi, ẹni tí ó fi í hàn pẹ̀lú béèrè pé, “Rabbi, èmi ni bí?” Jesu sì dá a lóhùn pé, “Ìwọ wí i.”
Then Judas, who betrayed him, replied, “Surely not I, Rabbi?” Jesus said to him, “Yoʋ have said it yoʋrself.”
26 Bí wọ́n ti ń jẹun, Jesu sì mú ìwọ̀n àkàrà kékeré kan, lẹ́yìn tí ó ti gbàdúrà sí i, ó bù ú, Ó fún àwọn ọmọ-ẹ̀yìn rẹ̀, Ó wí pé, “Gbà, jẹ; nítorí èyí ni ara mi.”
As they were eating, Jesus took the bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it, gave it to the disciples, and said, “Take and eat this bread; this is my body.”
27 Bákan náà, ó sì mú ago wáìnì, ó dúpẹ́ fún un, ó sì gbé e fún wọn. Ó wí pé, “Kí gbogbo yín mu nínú rẹ̀.
Then he took the cup, and when he had given thanks, he gave it to them, saying, “Drink of it, all of you,
28 Nítorí èyí ni ẹ̀jẹ̀ mi tí májẹ̀mú tuntun, tí a ta sílẹ̀ fún ìdáríjì ẹ̀ṣẹ̀ ọ̀pọ̀ ènìyàn.
for this is my blood of the new covenant, which is poured out for many for the remission of sins.
29 Sì kíyèsi àwọn ọ̀rọ̀ mi. Èmi kì yóò tún mu nínú ọtí wáìnì yìí mọ́ títí di ọjọ́ náà tí èmi yóò mu ún ní tuntun pẹ̀lú yín ní ìjọba Baba mi.”
But I tell you, from this point forward I will certainly not drink again from this fruit of the vine until that day when I drink it with you anew in the kingdom of my Father.”
30 Wọ́n sì kọ orin kan, lẹ́yìn náà wọ́n lọ sórí òkè Olifi.
And after singing a hymn, they went out to the Mount of Olives.
31 Nígbà náà ni Jesu wí fún wọn pé, “Gbogbo yín ni yóò kọsẹ̀ lára mi ní òru òní. Nítorí a ti kọ ọ́ pé: “‘Èmi yóò kọlu olùṣọ́-àgùntàn a ó sì tú agbo àgùntàn náà ká kiri.’
Then Jesus said to them, “All of you will fall away because of me this night. For it is written, ‘I will strike the shepherd, and the sheep of the flock will be scattered.’
32 Ṣùgbọ́n lẹ́yìn tí mo bá jí dìde, èmi yóò ṣáájú yín lọ sí Galili.”
But after I have been raised up, I will go ahead of you to Galilee.”
33 Peteru sì dá a lóhùn pé, “Bí gbogbo ènìyàn tilẹ̀ kọ̀ ọ́ sílẹ̀, èmi kì yóò ṣe bẹ́ẹ̀.”
Peter answered him, “Even if everyone else falls away because of yoʋ, I will never fall away.”
34 Jesu wí fún un pé, “Lóòótọ́ ni mo wí fún ọ pé, ní òru yìí, kí àkùkọ kí ó tó kọ, ìwọ yóò sẹ́ mi nígbà mẹ́ta.”
Jesus said to him, “Truly I say to yoʋ that on this night, before a rooster crows, yoʋ will deny me three times.”
35 Peteru wí fún un pé, “Bí ó tilẹ̀ jẹ́ láti kú pẹ̀lú, èmi kò jẹ́ sẹ́ ọ.” Gẹ́gẹ́ bẹ́ẹ̀ ni gbogbo àwọn ọmọ-ẹ̀yìn wí.
But Peter said to him, “Even if I must die with yoʋ, I will certainly not deny yoʋ.” And all the disciples said the same thing.
36 Nígbà náà ni Jesu àti àwọn ọmọ-ẹ̀yìn rẹ̀ lọ sí ibi kan ti à ń pè ní ọgbà Getsemane, ó wí fún wọn pé, “Ẹ jókòó níhìn-ín nígbà tí mo bá lọ gbàdúrà lọ́hùn ún ni.”
Then Jesus went with them to a place called Gethsemane, and he said to the disciples, “Sit here while I go over there and pray.”
37 Ó sì mú Peteru àti àwọn ọmọ Sebede méjèèjì Jakọbu àti Johanu pẹ̀lú rẹ̀, ìrora àti ìbànújẹ́ bẹ̀rẹ̀ sí gba ọkàn rẹ̀.
And taking with him Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, he began to be sorrowful and distressed.
38 Nígbà náà ni ó wí fún wọn pé, “Ọkàn mi gbọgbẹ́ pẹ̀lú ìbànújẹ́ títí dé ojú ikú, ẹ dúró níhìn-ín yìí, kí ẹ máa ṣọ́nà pẹ̀lú mi.”
Then Jesus said to them, “My soul is very sorrowful, even to the point of death; stay here and keep watch with me.”
39 Òun lọ sí iwájú díẹ̀ sí i, ó sì dojúbolẹ̀, ó sì gbàdúrà pé, “Baba mi, bí ó bá ṣe é ṣe, jẹ́ kí a mú ago yìí ré mi lórí kọjá, ṣùgbọ́n ìfẹ́ tìrẹ ni mo fẹ́ kí ó ṣẹ, kì í ṣe ìfẹ́ tèmi.”
And going a little farther, he fell on his face and prayed, “My Father, if possible, let this cup pass from me; nevertheless, not as I will, but as yoʋ will.”
40 Bí ó ti padà sọ́dọ̀ àwọn ọmọ-ẹ̀yìn rẹ̀ mẹ́tẹ̀ẹ̀ta, ó bá wọn, wọ́n ń sùn. Ó kígbe pé, “Peteru, ẹ̀yin kò tilẹ̀ lè bá mi ṣọ́nà fún wákàtí kan?
Then he came to the disciples and found them sleeping, and said to Peter, “So you could not keep watch with me for one hour?
41 Ẹ máa ṣọ́ra, kí ẹ sì máa gbàdúrà kí ẹ̀yin má ba à bọ́ sínú ìdẹwò. Nítorí ẹ̀mí ń fẹ́ nítòótọ́, ṣùgbọ́n ó ṣe àìlera fún ara.”
Keep watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.”
42 Ó tún fi wọ́n sílẹ̀ nígbà kejì, ó sí gbàdúrà pé, “Baba mi, bí ago yìí kò bá lè ré mi lórí kọjá bí kò ṣe pé mo bá mu ún, ìfẹ́ tìrẹ ni kí a ṣe.”
Again, he went away for a second time and prayed, “My Father, if this cup cannot pass from me unless I drink it, may yoʋr will be done.”
43 Nígbà tí ó tún padà dé sọ́dọ̀ wọn, Ó rí i pé wọn ń sùn, nítorí ojú wọn kún fún oorun.
Then he came and found them sleeping again, for their eyes were heavy.
44 Nítorí náà, ó fi wọn sílẹ̀ ó tún padà lọ láti gbàdúrà nígbà kẹta, ó ń wí ohun kan náà.
So he left them and went away again and prayed for a third time, saying the same thing.
45 Nígbà náà ni ó tọ́ àwọn ọmọ-ẹ̀yìn rẹ̀ wá, ó wí pé, “Àbí ẹ̀yin sì ń sùn síbẹ̀, ti ẹ sì ń sinmi? Wò ó wákàtí náà tí dé ti a ó fi Ọmọ Ènìyàn lé àwọn ẹlẹ́ṣẹ̀ lọ́wọ́.
Then he came to his disciples and said to them, “Sleep on now and take your rest! Behold, the hour has drawn near, and the Son of Man is delivered up into the hands of sinners.
46 Ẹ dìde! Ẹ jẹ́ kí a máa lọ! Ẹ wò ó, ẹni tí yóò fi mi hàn ń bọ̀ wá!”
Rise, let us go. Behold, my betrayer has drawn near.”
47 Bí ó ti ń sọ̀rọ̀ lọ́wọ́, Judasi, ọ̀kan nínú àwọn méjìlá dé pẹ̀lú ọ̀pọ̀ ènìyàn pẹ̀lú idà àti kùmọ̀ lọ́wọ́ wọn, wọ́n ti ọ̀dọ̀ àwọn olórí àlùfáà àti àgbàgbà Júù wá.
While he was still speaking, behold, Judas, one of the twelve, came. With him was a large crowd with swords and clubs, sent from the chief priests and elders of the people.
48 Ẹni tí ó sì fi í hàn ti fi àmì fún wọn, pé, “Ẹnikẹ́ni tí mo bá fi ẹnu kò ní ẹnu, òun náà ni; ẹ mú un.”
Now his betrayer had given them a sign, saying, “Whomever I kiss, he is the one; arrest him.”
49 Nísinsin yìí, Judasi wá tààrà sọ́dọ̀ Jesu, ó wí pé, “Àlàáfíà, Rabbi!” Ó fi ẹnu kò ó ní ẹnu.
Immediately he went up to Jesus and said, “Greetings, Rabbi!” And he kissed him.
50 Jesu wí pé, “Ọ̀rẹ́, kí ni nǹkan tí ìwọ bá wá.” Àwọn ìyókù sì sún síwájú wọ́n sì mú Jesu.
Jesus said to him, “Friend, why have yoʋ come?” Then they came forward, took hold of Jesus, and arrested him.
51 Sì wò ó, ọ̀kan nínú àwọn tí ó wà pẹ̀lú Jesu na ọwọ́ rẹ̀, ó sì fa idà yọ, ó sì sá ọ̀kan tí i ṣe ọmọ ọ̀dọ̀ olórí àlùfáà, ó sì gé e ní etí sọnù.
And behold, one of the men with Jesus stretched out his hand, drew his sword, and struck the servant of the high priest, cutting off his ear.
52 Jesu wí fún un pé, “Fi idà rẹ bọ àkọ̀ nítorí àwọn tí ó ń fi idà pa ni a ó fi idà pa.
Then Jesus said to him, “Put yoʋr sword back in its place, for all who take the sword will die by the sword.
53 Ìwọ kò mọ̀ pé èmi lè béèrè lọ́wọ́ Baba mi kí ó fún mi ju légíónì angẹli méjìlá? Òun yóò sì fi wọ́n ránṣẹ́ lẹ́sẹ̀kẹsẹ̀.
Or do yoʋ think that I cannot call on my Father right now, and he will provide me with more than twelve legions of angels?
54 Ṣùgbọ́n bí mo bá ṣe eléyìí ọ̀nà wo ni a ó fi mú Ìwé Mímọ́ ṣẹ, èyí tí ó ti sọ ohun tí ó ṣẹlẹ̀ nísinsin yìí?”
How then would the Scriptures be fulfilled that say it must happen this way?”
55 Nígbà náà ni Jesu wí fún ìjọ ènìyàn náà pé, “Ǹjẹ́ èmi ni ẹ kà sí ọ̀daràn ti ẹ múra pẹ̀lú idà àti kùmọ̀ kí ẹ tó lé mú mi? Ẹ rántí pé mo ti wà pẹ̀lú yín, tí mo ń kọ́ yín lójoojúmọ́ nínú tẹmpili, ẹ̀yin kò sì mú mi nígbà náà.
In that hour Jesus said to the crowds, “Have you come out to arrest me with swords and clubs as you would against a robber? I sat daily with you, teaching in the temple courts, and you did not arrest me.
56 Ṣùgbọ́n gbogbo wọ̀nyí ń ṣẹlẹ̀ kí ọ̀rọ̀ tí a tì ẹnu àwọn wòlíì sọ, tí a kọ sínú Ìwé Mímọ́ lè ṣẹ.” Nígbà yìí gan an ni gbogbo àwọn ọmọ-ẹ̀yìn rẹ̀ ti kúrò lọ́dọ̀ rẹ̀, wọ́n sì sálọ.
But all this has taken place so that the Scriptures of the prophets would be fulfilled.” Then all the disciples left him and fled.
57 Àwọn tí ó mú Jesu fà á lọ sí ilé Kaiafa, olórí àlùfáà, níbi ti àwọn olùkọ́ òfin àti gbogbo àwọn àgbàgbà Júù péjọ sí.
Now those who had arrested Jesus led him away to Caiaphas the high priest, where the scribes and the elders were assembled.
58 Ṣùgbọ́n Peteru ń tẹ̀lé e lókèèrè. Òun sì wá sí àgbàlá olórí àlùfáà. Ó wọlé, ó sì jókòó pẹ̀lú àwọn olùṣọ́. Ó ń dúró láti ri ohun tí yóò ṣẹlẹ̀ sí Jesu.
But Peter was following him at a distance, coming as far as the courtyard of the high priest. After going inside, he sat with the officers to see the outcome.
59 Nígbà náà ni àwọn olórí àlùfáà àti gbogbo ìgbìmọ̀ Júù ní ilé ẹjọ́ tí ó ga jùlọ ti Júù péjọ síbẹ̀, wọ́n wá àwọn ẹlẹ́rìí tí yóò purọ́ mọ́ Jesu, kí a ba à lè rí ẹjọ́ rò mọ́ ọn lẹ́sẹ̀, eléyìí tí yóò yọrí si ìdájọ́ ikú fún un.
Now the chief priests, the elders, and the whole Sanhedrin were seeking false testimony against Jesus, so that they could put him to death,
60 Bí ó tilẹ̀ jẹ́ pé àwọn ẹlẹ́rìí èké dìde, ṣùgbọ́n wọn kò rí ohun kan. Níkẹyìn, àwọn ẹlẹ́rìí méjì dìde.
but they did not find any. Even though many false witnesses came forward, they did not find any.
61 Wọn wí pé, “Ọkùnrin yìí sọ pé, ‘Èmi lágbára láti wó tẹmpili Ọlọ́run lulẹ̀, èmi yóò sì tún un mọ ní ọjọ́ mẹ́ta.’”
But at last two false witnesses came forward and declared, “This man said, ‘I am able to destroy the temple of God and rebuild it in three days.’”
62 Nígbà náà ni olórí àlùfáà sì dìde, ó wí fún Jesu pé, “Ẹ̀rí yìí ń kọ́? Ìwọ sọ bẹ́ẹ̀ tàbí ìwọ kò sọ bẹ́ẹ̀?”
So the high priest stood up and said to him, “Do yoʋ make no answer? What are these men testifying against yoʋ?”
63 Ṣùgbọ́n Jesu dákẹ́ rọ́rọ́. Nígbà náà ni olórí àlùfáà wí fún un pé, “Mo fi ọ́ bú ní orúkọ Ọlọ́run alààyè, kí ó sọ fún wa, bí ìwọ bá í ṣe Kristi Ọmọ Ọlọ́run.”
But Jesus was silent. Then the high priest said to him, “I adjure yoʋ by the living God to tell us if yoʋ are the Christ, the Son of God.”
64 Jesu sì dáhùn pé, “Bẹ́ẹ̀ ni, ìwọ wí.” Ṣùgbọ́n mo wí fún gbogbo yín. “Ẹ̀yin yóò rí Ọmọ Ènìyàn ti yóò jókòó lọ́wọ́ ọ̀tún alágbára, tí yóò sì máa bọ̀ wá láti inú ìkùùkuu.”
Jesus said to him, “Yoʋ have said it yoʋrself. Nevertheless I say to you, from now on you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of Power and coming on the clouds of heaven.”
Then the high priest tore his garments and said, “He has blasphemed! What further need do we have of witnesses? Behold, you have now heard his blasphemy.
66 Ki ni ẹ ti rò èyí sí. Gbogbo wọn sì kígbe lọ́hùn kan pé, “Ó jẹ̀bi ikú!”
What do you think?” They answered, “He deserves death.”
67 Wọ́n tu itọ́ sí i ní ojú. Wọ́n kàn án lẹ́ṣẹ̀ẹ́. Àwọn ẹlòmíràn sì gbá a lójú.
Then they spit in his face and struck him. Others slapped him,
68 Wọ́n wí pé, “Sọ àsọtẹ́lẹ̀ fún wa! Ìwọ Kristi, ta ni ẹni tí ó ń lù Ọ́?”
saying, “Prophesy to us, yoʋ Christ! Who is it that struck yoʋ?”
69 Lákòókò yìí, bí Peteru ti ń jókòó ní àgbàlá, ọmọbìnrin kan sì tọ̀ ọ́ wá, ó ní, “Ìwọ wà pẹ̀lú Jesu ti Galili.”
Now Peter was sitting outside in the courtyard, and a servant girl came to him and said, “Yoʋ also were with Jesus the Galilean.”
70 Ṣùgbọ́n Peteru sẹ̀ ní ojú gbogbo wọn pé, “Èmi kò tilẹ̀ mọ ohun tí ẹ ń sọ nípa rẹ̀.”
But he denied it before them all, saying, “I do not know what yoʋ are talking about!”
71 Lẹ́yìn èyí, ní ìta ní ẹnu-ọ̀nà, ọmọbìnrin mìíràn tún rí i, ó sì wí fún àwọn tí ó dúró yíká pé, “Ọkùnrin yìí wà pẹ̀lú Jesu ti Nasareti.”
Then he went out to the gateway, and another servant girl saw him and said to the people there, “This man also was with Jesus of Nazareth.”
72 Peteru sì tún sẹ́ lẹ́ẹ̀kejì pẹ̀lú ìbúra pé, “Èmi kò tilẹ̀ mọ ọkùnrin náà rárá.”
But again he denied it with an oath: “I do not know the man.”
73 Nígbà tí ó pẹ́ díẹ̀, àwọn ọkùnrin tí ó ń dúró níbi ìran yìí tọ̀ ọ́ wá, wọ́n wí fún Peteru pé, “Lóòótọ́, ìwọ jẹ́ ọ̀kan nínú àwọn ọmọ-ẹ̀yìn, àwa mọ̀ ọ́n. Èyí sì dá wa lójú nípa àmì ohùn rẹ̀ tí ó ń ti ẹnu rẹ jáde.”
After a little while, the people standing there came up and said to Peter, “Truly yoʋ also are one of them, for even yoʋr accent gives yoʋ away.”
74 Peteru sì tún bẹ̀rẹ̀ sí í búra ó sì fi ara rẹ̀ ré wí pé, “Mo ní èmi kò mọ ọkùnrin yìí rárá.” Lójúkan náà àkùkọ sì kọ.
Then he began to invoke curses and to swear: “I do not know the man.” And immediately a rooster crowed.
75 Nígbà náà ni Peteru rántí nǹkan tí Jesu ti sọ pé, “Kí àkùkọ tó ó kọ, ìwọ yóò sẹ́ mi nígbà mẹ́ta.” Òun sì bọ́ sí òde, ó sọkún kíkorò.
Then Peter remembered what Jesus had said to him: “Before a rooster crows, yoʋ will deny me three times.” And he went out and wept bitterly.
