< 1 Kings 19 >
1 Ahabu sì sọ gbogbo ohun tí Elijah ti ṣe fún Jesebeli àti bí ó ti fi idà pa gbogbo àwọn wòlíì.
Ahab told Jezebel all that Elijah had done, and how he had killed all the prophets with the sword.
2 Nítorí náà Jesebeli rán oníṣẹ́ kan sí Elijah wí pé, “Kí àwọn òrìṣà kí ó ṣe sí mi àti jù bẹ́ẹ̀ lọ pẹ̀lú, bí èmi kò bá ṣe ẹ̀mí rẹ bí ọ̀kan nínú wọn ní ìwòyí ọ̀la.”
Then Jezebel sent a messenger to Elijah, saying, “So let the gods do to me, and more also, if I don’t make your life as the life of one of them by tomorrow about this time!”
3 Elijah sì bẹ̀rù, ó sá fún ẹ̀mí rẹ̀. Nígbà tí ó sì dé Beerṣeba ti Juda, ó sì fi ọmọ ọ̀dọ̀ rẹ̀ sílẹ̀ níbẹ̀,
When he saw that, he arose and ran for his life, and came to Beersheba, which belongs to Judah, and left his servant there.
4 nígbà tí òun tìkára rẹ̀ sì lọ ní ìrìn ọjọ́ kan sí aginjù, ó sì wá sí ibi igi ọwọ̀ kan, ó sì jókòó lábẹ́ rẹ̀, ó sì gbàdúrà kí òun bá le kú, wí pé, “Mo ti ní tó, Olúwa, gba ẹ̀mí mi kúrò; nítorí èmi kò sàn ju àwọn baba mi lọ.”
But he himself went a day’s journey into the wilderness, and came and sat down under a juniper tree. Then he requested for himself that he might die, and said, “It is enough. Now, O Yahweh, take away my life; for I am not better than my fathers.”
5 Nígbà náà ni ó dùbúlẹ̀ lábẹ́ igi, ó sì sùn lọ. Sì wò ó, angẹli fi ọwọ́ tọ́ ọ, ó sì wí pé, “Dìde, kí o jẹun.”
He lay down and slept under a juniper tree; and behold, an angel touched him, and said to him, “Arise and eat!”
6 Ó sì wò ó yíká, àkàrà tí a dín lórí ẹ̀yín iná, àti orù-omi wà lẹ́bàá orí rẹ̀. Ó sì jẹ, ó sì mu, ó sì tún dùbúlẹ̀.
He looked, and behold, there was at his head a cake baked on the coals, and a jar of water. He ate and drank, and lay down again.
7 Angẹli Olúwa sì tún padà wá lẹ́ẹ̀kejì, ó sì tún fi ọwọ́ tọ́ ọ, ó sì wí pé, “Dìde, kí ó jẹun, nítorí ìrìnàjò náà jì fún ọ.”
Yahweh’s angel came again the second time, and touched him, and said, “Arise and eat, because the journey is too great for you.”
8 Ó si dìde, ó sì jẹ, ó mu, o sì fi agbára oúnjẹ yìí lọ ní ogójì ọ̀sán àti ogójì òru sí Horebu, òkè Ọlọ́run.
He arose, and ate and drank, and went in the strength of that food forty days and forty nights to Horeb, God’s Mountain.
9 Níbẹ̀, ó lọ sí ibi ihò òkúta, ó sì wọ̀ níbẹ̀. Ọ̀rọ̀ Olúwa sì tọ Elijah wá wí pé, “Kí ni ìwọ ń ṣe níhìn-ín yìí, Elijah?”
He came to a cave there, and camped there; and behold, Yahweh’s word came to him, and he said to him, “What are you doing here, Elijah?”
10 Ó sì dáhùn wí pé, “Èmi ti ń jowú fún Olúwa Ọlọ́run àwọn ọmọ-ogun. Àwọn ọmọ Israẹli ti kọ májẹ̀mú rẹ sílẹ̀, wọ́n sì ti wó àwọn pẹpẹ rẹ lulẹ̀, wọ́n sì ti fi idà pa àwọn wòlíì rẹ. Èmi nìkan ṣoṣo ni ó kù, wọ́n sì ń wá ẹ̀mí mi láti gbà á kúrò báyìí.”
He said, “I have been very jealous for Yahweh, the God of Armies; for the children of Israel have forsaken your covenant, thrown down your altars, and killed your prophets with the sword. I, even I only, am left; and they seek my life, to take it away.”
11 Olúwa sì wí pé, “Jáde lọ, kí o sì dúró lórí òkè níwájú Olúwa, nítorí Olúwa fẹ́ rékọjá.” Nígbà náà ni ìjì ńlá àti líle sì fa àwọn òkè ńlá ya, ó sì fọ́ àwọn àpáta túútúú níwájú Olúwa; ṣùgbọ́n Olúwa kò sí nínú ìjì náà. Lẹ́yìn ìjì náà ni ìṣẹ̀lẹ̀-ìrilẹ̀, ṣùgbọ́n Olúwa kò sí nínú ìṣẹ̀lẹ̀-ìrilẹ̀ náà.
He said, “Go out and stand on the mountain before Yahweh.” Behold, Yahweh passed by, and a great and strong wind tore the mountains and broke in pieces the rocks before Yahweh; but Yahweh was not in the wind. After the wind there was an earthquake; but Yahweh was not in the earthquake.
12 Lẹ́yìn ìṣẹ̀lẹ̀-ìrilẹ̀ náà ni iná wá, ṣùgbọ́n Olúwa kò sí nínú iná náà. Àti lẹ́yìn iná náà ni ohùn kẹ́lẹ́ kékeré wá.
After the earthquake a fire passed; but Yahweh was not in the fire. After the fire, there was a still small voice.
13 Nígbà tí Elijah sì gbọ́ ọ, ó sì fi agbádá rẹ̀ bo ojú rẹ̀, ó sì jáde lọ, ó dúró ní ẹnu ihò òkúta náà. Nígbà náà ni ohùn kan tọ̀ ọ́ wá wí pé, “Kí ni ìwọ ń ṣe níhìn-ín, Elijah?”
When Elijah heard it, he wrapped his face in his mantle, went out, and stood in the entrance of the cave. Behold, a voice came to him, and said, “What are you doing here, Elijah?”
14 Ó sì dáhùn pé, “Èmi ti ń jowú fún Olúwa Ọlọ́run àwọn ọmọ-ogun. Àwọn ọmọ Israẹli ti kọ májẹ̀mú rẹ sílẹ̀, wọ́n sì ti wó pẹpẹ rẹ lulẹ̀, wọ́n sì ti fi idà pa àwọn wòlíì rẹ. Èmi nìkan ṣoṣo ni ó kù, wọ́n sì ń gbìyànjú láti pa èmi náà báyìí.”
He said, “I have been very jealous for Yahweh, the God of Armies; for the children of Israel have forsaken your covenant, thrown down your altars, and killed your prophets with the sword. I, even I only, am left; and they seek my life, to take it away.”
15 Olúwa sì wí fún un pé, “Padà lọ sí ọ̀nà tí ìwọ ti wá, kí o sì lọ sí aginjù Damasku. Nígbà tí ìwọ bá dé ibẹ̀, fi òróró yan Hasaeli ní ọba lórí Aramu.
Yahweh said to him, “Go, return on your way to the wilderness of Damascus. When you arrive, anoint Hazael to be king over Syria.
16 Tún fi òróró yan Jehu ọmọ Nimṣi ní ọba lórí Israẹli, àti kí o fi òróró yan Eliṣa ọmọ Ṣafati, ará Abeli-Mehola ní wòlíì ní ipò rẹ.
Anoint Jehu the son of Nimshi to be king over Israel; and anoint Elisha the son of Shaphat of Abel Meholah to be prophet in your place.
17 Jehu yóò pa ẹni tí ó bá sálà kúrò lọ́wọ́ idà Hasaeli, Eliṣa yóò sì pa ẹni tí ó bá sálà kúrò lọ́wọ́ idà Jehu.
He who escapes from the sword of Hazael, Jehu will kill; and he who escapes from the sword of Jehu, Elisha will kill.
18 Síbẹ̀, èmi ti pa ẹ̀ẹ́dẹ́gbàárin ènìyàn mọ́ fún ara mi ní Israẹli, àní gbogbo eékún tí kò ì tí ì kúnlẹ̀ fún òrìṣà Baali, àti gbogbo ẹnu tí kò ì tí ì fi ẹnu kò ó ní ẹnu.”
Yet I reserved seven thousand in Israel, all the knees of which have not bowed to Baal, and every mouth which has not kissed him.”
19 Bẹ́ẹ̀ ni Elijah lọ kúrò níbẹ̀, ó sì rí Eliṣa ọmọ Ṣafati. Ó ń fi àjàgà màlúù méjìlá tulẹ̀ níwájú rẹ̀, àti òun náà níwájú èkejìlá. Elijah sì tọ̀ ọ́ lọ, ó sì da agbádá rẹ̀ bò ó.
So he departed from there and found Elisha the son of Shaphat, who was plowing with twelve yoke of oxen before him, and he with the twelfth. Elijah went over to him and put his mantle on him.
20 Nígbà náà ni Eliṣa sì fi àwọn màlúù sílẹ̀, ó sì sáré tọ Elijah lẹ́yìn. Ó wí pé, “Èmi bẹ̀ ọ́, jẹ́ kí èmi lọ fi ẹnu ko baba àti ìyá mi ní ẹnu. Nígbà náà ni èmi yóò tọ̀ ọ́ lẹ́yìn.” Elijah sì dáhùn wí pé, “Padà sẹ́yìn, kí ni mo fi ṣe ọ́?”
Elisha left the oxen and ran after Elijah, and said, “Let me please kiss my father and my mother, and then I will follow you.” He said to him, “Go back again; for what have I done to you?”
21 Eliṣa sì fi í sílẹ̀, ó padà sẹ́yìn. Ó sì mú àjàgà màlúù rẹ, ó sì pa wọ́n. Ó sì fi ohun èlò àwọn màlúù náà bọ́ ẹran wọn, ó sì fi fún àwọn ènìyàn, wọ́n sì jẹ. Nígbà náà ni ó sì dìde láti tọ Elijah lẹ́yìn, ó sì ṣe ìránṣẹ́ fún un.
He returned from following him, and took the yoke of oxen, killed them, and boiled their meat with the oxen’s equipment, and gave to the people; and they ate. Then he arose, and went after Elijah, and served him.
