Буття 34
1 І вийшла була Діна, дочка Лії, яка вродила її Якову, щоб подивитися на дочок того кра́ю.
Then Dinah the daughter of Leah, which she bare vnto Iaakob, went out to see the daughters of that countrey.
2 І побачив її Сихем, син Гамора хіве́янина, начальника того краю, і взяв її, і лежав із нею, і збезчестив її.
Whome when Shechem the sonne of Hamor the Hiuite lorde of that countrey sawe, hee tooke her, and lay with her, and defiled her.
3 І пригорнулася душа його до Діни, дочки Якової, і покохав він дівчину, і говорив до серця дівочого.
So his heart claue vnto Dinah the daughter of Iaakob: and he loued the maide, and spake kindely vnto the maide.
4 І сказав Сихем до Гамора, батька свого, говорячи: „Візьми те дівча за жінку для мене!“
Then said Shechem to his father Hamor, saying, Get me this maide to wife.
5 А Яків почув, що той збезчестив Діну, дочку його, а сини його були з худобою його на полі. І мовчав Яків, аж поки прибули́ вони.
(Nowe Iaakob heard that he had defiled Dinah his daughter, and his sonnes were with his cattell in the fielde: therefore Iaakob helde his peace, vntill they were come.)
6 І вийшов Гамор, Сихемів батько, до Якова, щоб поговорити з ним.
Then Hamor the father of Shechem went out vnto Iaakob to commune with him.
7 І прийшли сини Яковові з поля, коли почули, і засмутились ці люди, і сильно запалав їхній гнів, бо той ганьбу зробив в Ізраїлі тим, що лежав із дочкою Якова, а так не робиться.
And whe the sonnes of Iaakob were come out of the fielde and heard it, it grieued the men, and they were very angry, because he had wrought villenie in Israel, in that he had lyen with Iaakobs daughter: which thing ought not to be done.
8 А Гамор говорив з ними, кажучи: „Син мій Сихем, — запрагла душа його вашої дочки. Дайте ж її йому за жінку!
And Hamor communed with them, saying, the soule of my sonne Shechem longeth for your daughter: giue her him to wife, I pray you.
9 І посвоячтеся з нами, — дайте нам ваші дочки, а наші дочки візьміть собі.
So make affinitie with vs: giue your daughters vnto vs, and take our daughters vnto you,
10 І осядьтеся з нами, а цей край буде перед вами. Сидіть і перемандруйте його, і набувайте на власність у нім“.
And ye shall dwell with vs, and the lande shalbe before you: dwell, and doe your businesse in it, and haue your possessions therein.
11 І промовив Сихем до батька її та до братів її: Нехай я знайду́ милість у ваших очах, і що ви скажете мені — я дам.
Shechem also said vnto her father and vnto her brethren, Let me finde fauour in your eyes, and I will giue whatsoeuer ye shall appoint me.
12 Сильно побільші́ть на мене ві́но та дарунок, а я дам, як мені скажете, — та тільки дайте мені дівчину за жінку!“
Aske of me abundantly both dowrie and giftes, and I will giue as ye appoint me, so that ye giue me the maide to wife.
13 І відповіли́ сини Якова Сихемові та Гаморові, батькові його, підступом, сказали, бо він збезчестив Діну, сестру їх.
Then the sonnes of Iaakob answered Shechem and Hamor his father, talking deceitfully, because he had defiled Dinah their sister,
14 І сказали до них: „Ми не можемо зробити тієї речі, видати сестру нашу чоловікові, що має крайню плоть, бо то ганьба для нас.
And they said vnto them, We can not do this thing, to giue our sister to an vncircumcised man: for that were a reproofe vnto vs.
15 Ми тільки за те прихилимось до вас, коли ви станете, як ми, — щоб у вас був обрізаний кожний чоловічої статі.
But in this will we consent vnto you, if ye will be as we are, that euery man childe among you be circumcised:
16 І дамо вам своїх дочок, а ваших дочок візьмемо собі, й осядемось із вами, і станемо одним наро́дом.
Then will we giue our daughters to you, and we will take your daughters to vs, and will dwell with you, and be one people.
17 А коли ви не послухаєте нас, щоб обрізатися, то ми візьмемо свої дочки, та й пі́демо“.
But if ye will not hearken vnto vs to be circumcised, then will we take our daughter and depart.
18 І їхні слова були добрі в очах Гамора та в очах Сихема, сина Гаморового.
Nowe their wordes pleased Hamor, and Shechem Hamors sonne.
19 І не загаявся юнак той учинити ту річ, бо полюбив дочку Якова. А він був найповажніший у всім домі батька свого.
And the yong man deferd not to doe the thing because he loued Iaakobs daughter: he was also the most set by of all his fathers house.
20 І прибув Гамор та Сихем, син його, до брами міста, і промовили до людей свого міста, говорячи:
Then Hamor and Shechem his Sonne went vnto the gate of their citie, and communed with the men of their citie, saying,
21 „Ці люди — вони приязні до нас, і нехай осядуть у краю, і нехай перемандрують його, а цей край ось — розлогий перед ними. Дочок їхніх візьмі́мо собі за жінок, а наших дочок даймо їм.
These men are peaceable with vs: and that they may dwell in the land, and doe their affaires therin (for behold, the land hath roume ynough for them) let vs take their daughters to wiues, and giue them our daughters.
22 Тільки за це прихиляться до нас ці люди, щоб сидіти з нами, і щоб стати одним народом, — коли в нас бу́де обрізаний кожен чоловічої статі, як і вони обрізані.
Onely herein will the men consent vnto vs for to dwell with vs, and to be one people, if all the men children among vs be circumcised as they are circumcised.
23 Отара їхня, і майно їхнє, і вся їхня худоба — хіба не наші вони? Тільки прихилімося до них, і нехай вони осядуть із нами.
Shall not their flockes and their substance and all their cattell be ours? onely let vs consent herein vnto them, and they will dwell with vs.
24 І послухали Гамора та Сихема, сина його, усі, хто виходив з брами його міста. І були обрізані всі чоловічої статі, усі, хто виходив з брами міста його.
And vnto Hamor, and Shechem his sonne hearkened all that went out of the gate of his citie: and all the men children were circumcised, euen all that went out of the gate of his citie.
25 І сталося третього дня, коли вони хворі були, то два сини Яковові, Симеон і Левій, брати Дінині, взяли кожен меча свого, і безпечно напали на місто, і повбивали всіх чоловіків.
And on the thirde day (when they were sore) two of the sonnes of Iaakob, Simeon and Leui, Dinahs brethren tooke either of them his sworde and went into the citie boldly, and slue euery male.
26 Також Гамора й Сихема, сина його, забили мечем, і забрали Діну з дому Сихемового, та й вийшли.
They slewe also Hamor and Shechem his sonne with the edge of the sword, and tooke Dinah out of Shechems house, and went their way.
27 Сини Якова напали на трупи, і пограбували місто за те, що вони збезчестили їхню сестру.
Againe the other sonnes of Iaakob came vpon the dead, and spoyled the citie, because they had defiled their sister.
28 Забрали дрібну й велику худобу їх, і осли їх, і що було в місці, і що на полі,
They tooke their sheepe and their beeues, and their asses, and whatsoeuer was in the citie, and in the fieldes.
29 і ввесь маєток їхній, і всіх їхніх дітей, і їхніх жінок забрали в неволю, і пограбували все, що́ де в домі було.
Also they caryed away captiue and spoyled all their goods, and all their children and their wiues, and all that was in the houses.
30 І сказав Яків до Симеона й до Левія: „Ви зробили мене нещасливим, бо зробили мене зненавидженим у мешканців цього краю, у ханаане́янина й периззеянина. Ми люди нечисленні, а вони зберуться на мене, та й поб'ють мене, і буду знище́ний я та мій дім“.
Then Iaakob said to Simeon and Leui, Ye haue troubled me, and made me stinke among the inhabitats of the land, aswell the Canaanites, as the Perizzites, and and I being few in nomber, they shall gather theselues together against me, and slay me, and so shall I, and my house be destroied.
31 А вони відказали: „Чи він мав би зробити нашу сестру блудницею?“
And they answered, Shoulde hee abuse our sister as a whore?
