1 Wɔde ma dwonkyerɛfo. Awurade akoa Dawid dwom. Ɔtoo saa dwom yi maa Awurade, bere a ogyee no fii nʼatamfo nyinaa ne Saulo nsam no. Medɔ wo, Awurade, mʼahoɔden.
For the leader. Of David, the servant of the Lord, who recited the words of this song to the Lord after the Lord had saved him from the power of all his enemies and from the hand of Saul. He said: I love you, O Lord, my strength.
2 Awurade ne me botantim; mʼaban ne me gyefo; me Nyankopɔn yɛ me botan. Ne mu na minya me hintabea. Ɔyɛ me nkatabo, me nkwagye abɛn ne mʼabandennen.
The Lord is my rock, my fortress, deliverer, my God, my rock, where I take refuge, my shield, my defender, my tower.
3 Misu frɛ Awurade; ɔno na ayeyi sɛ no, efisɛ ogye me fi mʼatamfo nsam.
Worthy of praise is the Lord whom I call on, he rescues me from all my foes.
4 Owu nkɔnsɔnkɔnsɔn kyekyeree me; na ɔsɛe asorɔkye bu faa me so.
The waves of death broke about me, fearful floods of chaos.
5 Ɔda mu hama kyekyeree me; mihyiaa owu mfiri. (Sheol h7585)
Sheol threw cords around me, snares of death came to meet me. (Sheol h7585)
6 Mʼahohia mu, misu frɛɛ Awurade. Misu frɛɛ me Nyankopɔn hwehwɛɛ mmoa. Ofi nʼasɔrefi hɔ tee me nne; me sufrɛ baa nʼanim, na ɛkɔɔ nʼasom.
In distress I cried to the Lord, and shouted for help to my God; in his temple he heard my voice, into his ears came my cry.
7 Asase wosowee na ehinhimii, na mmepɔw fapem wosowee wosuroe, efisɛ na ne bo afuw.
Then the earth shook and quaked, mountains trembled to their foundations, and quaked because of his wrath.
8 Wusiw fii ne hwene mu; ogyaframa fii nʼanom, na nnyansramma dɛw fii mu.
Smoke went up from his nostrils, devouring fire from his mouth, coals were kindled by it.
9 Ofii ɔsoro baa fam; na omununkum kabii duruu nʼanan ase.
Then he bent the sky and came down, thick darkness was under his feet.
10 Ɔte kerubim so tu kɔɔ soro; gyaagyaa ne ho wɔ mframa ntaban so.
He rode on a cherub and flew, darting on wings of wind,
11 Ɔde sum kataa ne ho, osu a amuna tumm atwa ne ho ahyia.
with his screen of darkness about him, in thick dark clouds of water.
12 Hann kɛse hyerɛn wɔ nʼanim, na omununkum a mparuwbo ne anyinam wɔ mu fii ne ho hyerɛn mu bae.
At the radiance before him there passed hailstones and coals of fire.
13 Awurade bobɔɔ mu fii ɔsoro; Ɔsorosoroni no nne gyigyee bio.
The Lord thundered from heaven, the Most High uttered his voice.
14 Ɔtow ne bɛmma no de bɔɔ atamfo no ahwete, ɔde anyinam a ano yɛn den pam wɔn.
He shot his arrows and scattered them, flashed lightnings, and routed them.
15 Po mu abon ho yiyii na asase nnyinaso ho daa hɔ, esiane wʼanimka ne ahomegu a efi wo hwene mu no nti, Awurade.
The channels of the sea were revealed, the world was laid bare to its base, at your rebuke, O Lord, at the blast of the breath of your nostrils.
16 Ofi soro baa fam besoo me mu; ɔtwee me fii nsu a mu dɔ mu.
He stretched from on high, he seized me, drew me up from the mighty waters,
17 Ogyee me fii me tamfo hoɔdenfo nsam, wɔn a wɔn ani sa me, na wɔn ho yɛ den dodo ma me no.
and saved me from those who hated me – fierce foes, too mighty for me.
18 Wɔbaa me so wɔ mʼamanehunu da mu, nanso Awurade maa me so,
In my day of distress they assailed me, but the Lord proved my support.
19 wode me baa baabi a hɔ trɛw; ogyee me, efisɛ nʼani sɔɔ me.
To a spacious place he brought me, and, for love of me, he saved me.
20 Awurade ne me adi no sɛnea me trenee te; wahwɛ me nsa a ho tew so atua me ka.
The Lord repays my innocence, he rewards my cleanness of hands.
21 Manantew Awurade akwan so. Mentwee me ho mfii me Nyankopɔn ho nkɔyɛɛ bɔne ɛ.
For I kept the ways of the Lord, nor have wickedly strayed from my God.
22 Madi ne mmara nyinaa so: mimmuu nʼahyɛde so.
His commandments were all before me, his statutes I put not away.
23 Me ho nni asɛm wɔ Onyankopɔn anim, na matwe me ho afi bɔne ho.
And I was blameless before him, guarding myself from sin.
24 Awurade agyina me treneeyɛ ne me nsa a ho tew wɔ nʼanim no so atua me ka.
So the Lord repaid my innocence, my cleanness of hands in his sight.
25 Woda wo ho adi sɛ ɔnokwafo kyerɛ wɔn a wodi nokware, wɔn a wodi mu nso wokyerɛ wɔn sɛ wodi mu.
With the loyal you are loyal, and with the blameless blameless.
26 Woyɛ kronkron ma wɔn a wɔyɛ kronkron, na amumɔyɛfo de, wukyi wɔn.
With the pure you show yourself pure, but shrewd with the devious.
27 Wugye ahobrɛasefo nkwa, na wobrɛ ahantanfo ase.
For the lowly people you save, but haughty eyes you abase.
28 Awurade, woma me kanea hyerɛn. Yiw, woma me sum dan hann.
You are my lamp, Lord, my God who enlightens my darkness.
29 Wʼahoɔden a wode ma me nti, mitumi ka asraafo gu; me Nyankopɔn nti, mitumi foro ɔfasu.
With you I can storm a rampart, with my God I can leap a wall.
30 Onyankopɔn de, nʼakwan yɛ pɛ; Awurade bɔhyɛ nyinaa ba mu. Ɔyɛ nkatabo ma wɔn a wɔhwehwɛ bammɔ wɔ ne mu.
As for God, his way is perfect; the word of the Lord is pure. He is shield to all who take refuge in him.
31 Na hena na ɔyɛ Onyankopɔn ka Awurade ho? Hena na ɔyɛ Ɔbotan no? Gye sɛ yɛn Nyankopɔn no.
For who is God but the Lord? And who is a rock but our God?
32 Ɛyɛ Onyankopɔn na ɔma me ahoɔden, na ɔma me kwan yɛ pɛ.
The God who arms me with strength, who cleared and smoothed my way.
33 Ɔma mʼanammɔn ho yɛ hare sɛ ɔforote de. Ɔma me gyina sorɔnsorɔmmea.
He made my feet like hinds’ feet, and set me up on the heights.
34 Osiesie me ma ɔko, na me basa tumi kuntun kɔbere mfrafrae tadua.
He taught my hands how to fight, and my arms how to bend a bronze bow.
35 Wode wo ogye boa me nkatabo, na wo nsa nifa ma me gyina. Wobrɛ wo ho ase ma meyɛ ɔkɛse.
The shield of your help you gave me, your right hand supports me, you stoop down to make me great.
36 Woabɔ kwan tɛtrɛɛ ama mʼanan sɛnea me nkotodwe rengurow.
In your strength I took giant strides, and my feet never slipped.
37 Metaa mʼatamfo kɔtoo wɔn; mansan mʼakyi kosii sɛ mesɛee wɔn.
So I chased the foe till I caught them, and turned not, till I made an end of them.
38 Mɛdwerɛw wɔn, na wɔantumi ansɔre, wɔhwehwee ase wɔ mʼanan ase.
I smashed them, they could not rise, they fell beneath my feet.
39 Wode akodi ahoɔden maa me; womaa mʼatamfo bɔɔ wɔn mu ase wɔ me nan ase.
You did arm me with strength for war, you did bow my assailants beneath me.
40 Womaa mʼatamfo dan wɔn ho guanee, na mesɛe wɔn a wɔtan me.
You made my foes turn their back to me, and those who did hate me I finished.
41 Wosu hwehwɛɛ mmoa, nanso obiara ammegye wɔn, wɔfrɛɛ Awurade, nanso wammua.
They cried for help, but none saved them; to the Lord, but he answered them not.
42 Meyam wɔn sɛ mfutuma a mframa bɔ gu; mihwiee wɔn guu sɛ mmɔnten so dontori.
I beat them like dust of the market-place, stamped them like mud of the streets.
43 Woagye me afi nnipa no ɔfow mu, woayɛ me amanaman no ti; nnipa a minnim wɔn abɛyɛ mʼasomfo.
From the strife of the peoples you saved me, you made me head of the nations, peoples I knew not did serve me.
44 Wɔte me nka pɛ a, wɔyɛ osetie ma me; ananafo kotow mʼanim.
On the instant they hear, they obey me, foreigners come to me cringing.
45 Wɔn nyinaa botobotow; wofi wɔn abandennen mu ba ahopopo so.
Foreigners lose courage, and come out of their strongholds trembling.
46 Awurade te ase! Ayeyi nka me Botan! Wɔmma Onyankopɔn, me Gyefo no din so!
The Lord is alive! Blest be my rock! Exalted be God, my protector!
47 Ɔno ne Onyankopɔn a ɔtɔ were ma me, ɔno na ɔka amanaman hyɛ mʼase,
The God who gave me revenge, and brought down nations beneath me,
48 ɔno na ogye me fi mʼatamfo nsam. Wopagyaw me sii mʼatamfo so, wugyee me fii basabasayɛfo nsam.
who saved me from angry foes, and set me above my assailants, safe from the violent.
49 Ɛno nti, mɛkamfo wo wɔ amanaman mu, Ao Awurade. Mɛto ayeyi dwom ama wo din.
For this I will praise you among the nations, making music, O Lord, to your name:
50 Wode nkonimdi akɛse ama wo hene; woda ɔdɔ a ɛnsa da adi kyerɛ nea woasra no ngo, wode kyerɛ Dawid, ne nʼasefo afebɔɔ.
for great triumphs he grants to his king, and faithful love he shows his anointed, to David and his seed evermore.
