< Selemaia 22 >

1 ‌ʻOku pehē ʻe Sihova; ʻAlu hifo ki he fale ʻoe tuʻi ʻo Siuta, pea lea ʻaki ʻae lea ni ki ai,
The LORD said, “Go down to the house of the king of Judah, and speak this word there:
2 ‌ʻo pehē, Fanongo ki he folofola ʻa Sihova, ʻE tuʻi ʻo Siuta, ʻa koe ʻoku nofo ʻi he nofoʻa fakatuʻi ʻo Tevita, ʻa koe, mo hoʻo kau tamaioʻeiki, pea mo hoʻo kakai ʻoku hū ki he ngaahi matapā ni:
‘Hear the LORD’s word, king of Judah, who sits on David’s throne—you, your servants, and your people who enter in by these gates.
3 ‌ʻoku pehē ʻe Sihova; “Mou fai ʻae fakamaau mo e angatonu, pea fakamoʻui ʻaia kuo fakamālohia mei he nima ʻoe fakamālohi: pea ʻoua naʻa fai kākā ki he muli, mo e tamai mate, pea mo e fefine kuo mate hono husepāniti; ʻoua naʻa fai fakamālohi, pe lilingi ʻae toto taʻehalaia ʻi he potu ni.
The LORD says: “Execute justice and righteousness, and deliver him who is robbed out of the hand of the oppressor. Do no wrong. Do no violence to the foreigner, the fatherless, or the widow. Don’t shed innocent blood in this place.
4 He kapau te mou fai moʻoni ki he meʻa ni, pea ʻe toki hū ki he ngaahi matapā ʻoe fale ni, ʻae ngaahi tuʻi ʻoku nofo ʻi he nofoʻanga ʻo Tevita, ʻo heka ki he ngaahi saliote pea mo e fanga hoosi, ko ia, mo ʻene kau tamaioʻeiki, pea mo hono kakai.
For if you do this thing indeed, then kings sitting on David’s throne will enter in by the gates of this house, riding in chariots and on horses—they, their servants, and their people.
5 Ka ʻoku pehē ʻe Sihova, Kapau ʻe ʻikai te mou fanongo ki he ngaahi lea ni, ʻoku ou fuakava ʻiate au, ke hoko ʻae fale ni ko e liʻaki.
But if you will not hear these words, I swear by myself,” says the LORD, “that this house will become a desolation.”’”
6 He ʻoku pehē ʻe Sihova ki he fale ʻoe tuʻi ʻo Siuta; Ko Kiliati koe kiate au, pea mo e ʻulu ʻo Lepanoni: ka ko e moʻoni te u ngaohi koe ko e toafa, pea ko e ngaahi kolo ʻoku ʻikai ʻi ai ha kakai.
For the LORD says concerning the house of the king of Judah: “You are Gilead to me, the head of Lebanon. Yet surely I will make you a wilderness, cities which are not inhabited.
7 Pea te u fekau kiate koe ʻae kau fakaʻauha, ke ʻalu taki taha mo ʻene mahafutau: pea te nau tā hifo ʻae ngaahi sita lelei ʻiate koe, pea laku ki he afi.
I will prepare destroyers against you, everyone with his weapons, and they will cut down your choice cedars, and cast them into the fire.
8 Pea ʻe ʻalu ʻo ofi ki he kolo ni ʻae kakai tokolahi, pea te nau fepehēʻaki, Ko e hā kuo fai pehē ai ʻa Sihova ki he kolo lahi ni?
“Many nations will pass by this city, and they will each ask his neighbor, ‘Why has the LORD done this to this great city?’
9 Pea te nau toki lea, Koeʻuhi kuo nau liʻaki ʻae fuakava ʻa Sihova ko honau ʻOtua, pea lotu ki he ngaahi ʻOtua kehe, ʻo tauhi ʻakinautolu.”
Then they will answer, ‘Because they abandoned the covenant of the LORD their God, worshiped other gods, and served them.’”
10 ʻOua naʻa mou tangi koeʻuhi ko e pekia, pe tangilāulau koeʻuhi ko ia: kae tangi mamahi koeʻuhi ko ia ʻoku ʻalu: koeʻuhi ʻe ʻikai te ne toe haʻu, pe toe mamata ki hono fonua.
Don’t weep for the dead. Don’t bemoan him; but weep bitterly for him who goes away, for he will return no more, and not see his native country.
11 He ʻoku pehē ʻe Sihova kia Salumi ko e foha ʻo Siosaia ko e tuʻi ʻo Siuta, “ʻAia naʻe pule ko e fetongi ʻo Siosaia ko ʻene tamai, ʻaia naʻe ʻalu atu ʻi he potu ni; ʻE ʻikai te ne toe haʻu ki ai:
For the LORD says touching Shallum the son of Josiah, king of Judah, who reigned instead of Josiah his father, and who went out of this place: “He won’t return there any more.
12 Ka te ne mate ʻi he potu kuo nau tataki fakapōpula ia ki ai, pea ʻe ʻikai te ne toe mamata ki he fonua ni.”
But he will die in the place where they have led him captive. He will see this land no more.”
13 ʻE malaʻia ia ʻaia ʻoku langa hono fale ʻi he taʻetotonu, pea mo hono ngaahi potu ki ʻolunga ʻi he fai taʻeangatonu; ʻaia ʻoku pule ki hono kaungāʻapi ke ngāue taʻetotongi, pea ʻikai totongi ia ki heʻene ngāue;
“Woe to him who builds his house by unrighteousness, and his rooms by injustice; who uses his neighbor’s service without wages, and doesn’t give him his hire;
14 ‌ʻAia ʻoku pehē, “Te u langa moʻoku ʻae fale lahi pea mo e ngaahi potu lahi ʻi ʻolunga,” pea ne tutuʻu maʻana ʻae ngaahi tupa; pea ʻoku ʻaofi ia ʻi ʻolunga ʻaki ʻae sita, pea vali ʻaki ʻae enga kulokula.
who says, ‘I will build myself a wide house and spacious rooms,’ and cuts out windows for himself, with a cedar ceiling, and painted with red.
15 He te ke pule koe, koeʻuhi kuo takatakai ʻaki koe ʻae sita? ʻIkai naʻe kai mo inu ʻa hoʻo tamai, pea fai angatonu mo fakamaau, pea naʻe lelei ai ia?
“Should you reign because you strive to excel in cedar? Didn’t your father eat and drink, and do justice and righteousness? Then it was well with him.
16 Naʻa ne fakamaau ʻe ia ʻae meʻa ʻae paea mo e masiva; pea naʻe lelei ai ia: ʻikai ko e meʻa ia ʻi heʻene ʻiloʻi au? ʻOku pehē ʻe Sihova.
He judged the cause of the poor and needy; so then it was well. Wasn’t this to know me?” says the LORD.
17 Ka kuo tuku pe ho mata mo ho loto ʻoʻou ki hoʻo manumanu, pea ke lilingi ʻae toto ʻoe taʻehalaia, pea ke fai ʻae fakamamahi, mo e fakamālohi;
But your eyes and your heart are only for your covetousness, for shedding innocent blood, for oppression, and for doing violence.”
18 Ko ia ʻoku pehē ʻe Sihova kia Sihoiakimi ko e foha ʻo Siosaia ko e tuʻi ʻo Siuta; “ʻE ʻikai te nau tangi koeʻuhi ko ia, ʻo pehē, ‘ʻOiauē hoku tokoua! pe, ʻOiauē hoku tuofefine!’ ʻE ʻikai te nau tangi koeʻuhi ko ia, ʻo pehē, ‘ʻOiauē ʻe ʻEiki! Pe ʻOiauē, ʻa hono nāunau!’
Therefore the LORD says concerning Jehoiakim the son of Josiah, king of Judah: “They won’t lament for him, saying, ‘Ah my brother!’ or, ‘Ah sister!’ They won’t lament for him, saying ‘Ah lord!’ or, ‘Ah his glory!’
19 Pea ʻe tanu ia ʻo hangē ko e tanu ʻae asi, ʻe toho ia ʻo lī kituʻa ʻi he ngaahi matapā ʻo Selūsalema.”
He will be buried with the burial of a donkey, drawn and cast out beyond the gates of Jerusalem.”
20 ʻAlu hake ki Lepanoni, pea tangi pea hiki hake ho leʻo ki Pesani, pea tangi mei he ngataʻanga ʻoe fonua: he kuo fakaʻauha ʻakinautolu kotoa pē ʻoku ʻofa kiate koe.
“Go up to Lebanon, and cry out. Lift up your voice in Bashan, and cry from Abarim; for all your lovers have been destroyed.
21 Naʻaku lea kiate koe ʻi hoʻo kei monūʻia; ka naʻa ke pehē, ʻE ʻikai te u fanongo. Ko hoʻo ʻulungāanga eni talu hoʻo kei siʻi, he ʻoku ʻikai te ke fanongo ki hoku leʻo.
I spoke to you in your prosperity, but you said, ‘I will not listen.’ This has been your way from your youth, that you didn’t obey my voice.
22 ‌ʻE fakaʻosi kotoa pē ʻe he matangi ʻa hoʻo kau tauhi kotoa pē, pea ʻe ʻave fakapōpula ʻakinautolu ʻoku ʻofa kiate koe: pea te ke toki mā moʻoni, pea puputuʻu koeʻuhi ko hoʻo angahala kotoa pē.
The wind will feed all your shepherds, and your lovers will go into captivity. Surely then you will be ashamed and confounded for all your wickedness.
23 ‌ʻA koe ʻoku nofo ʻi Lepanoni, ʻa koe kuo ngaohi ho mohenga ʻi he ngaahi sita, hono ʻikai ʻe fakavaivaiʻi koe ʻoka hoko kiate koe ʻae mamahi, ʻo hangē ko e fefine ʻoku langā ke fāʻele!
Inhabitant of Lebanon, who makes your nest in the cedars, how greatly to be pitied you will be when pangs come on you, the pain as of a woman in travail!
24 ‌ʻOku pehē ʻe Sihova, “Ko au ʻoku ou moʻui, pea ka ne tatau ʻa Konaia ko e foha ʻo Sihoiakimi ko e tuʻi ʻo Siuta, mo e mama ki hoku nima toʻomataʻu, te u lī koe mei ai;
“As I live,” says the LORD, “though Coniah the son of Jehoiakim king of Judah were the signet on my right hand, I would still pluck you from there.
25 Pea te u tukuange koe ki he nima ʻokinautolu ʻoku kumi ki hoʻo moʻui, pea ki he nima ʻokinautolu ʻoku ke manavahē ki ai, ʻio, ki he nima ʻo Nepukanesa ko e tuʻi ʻo Papilone, pea ki he nima ʻoe kau Kalitia.
I would give you into the hand of those who seek your life, and into the hand of them of whom you are afraid, even into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, and into the hand of the Chaldeans.
26 Pea te u kapusi koe, mo hoʻo fale, ʻaia naʻa ne fāʻeleʻi koe, ki he fonua kehe, ʻaia naʻe ʻikai te mou fāʻeleʻi ai; pea ʻe mate ai ʻakimoutolu.
I will cast you out with your mother who bore you into another country, where you were not born; and there you will die.
27 Ka ko e fonua ʻaia ʻoku nau holi ke liliu ki ai, ʻe ʻikai te nau toe liliu ki ai.”
But to the land to which their soul longs to return, there they will not return.”
Is this man Coniah a despised broken vessel? Is he a vessel in which no one delights? Why are they cast out, he and his offspring, and cast into a land which they don’t know?
29 ‌ʻAe fonua, ʻae fonua, ʻae fonua, fanongo ki he folofola ʻa Sihova.
O earth, earth, earth, hear the LORD’s word!
30 “ʻOku pehē ʻe Sihova, Tohi ʻae tangata ni ke taʻehaʻanefānau, ko e tangata ʻe ʻikai te ne monūʻia ʻi hono ngaahi ʻaho: pea ʻe ʻikai monūʻia ha tangata ʻi hono hako, ke nofo ʻi he nofoʻanga ʻo Tevita, pe pule ki Siuta ʻo taʻengata.”
The LORD says, “Record this man as childless, a man who will not prosper in his days; for no more will a man of his offspring prosper, sitting on David’s throne and ruling in Judah.”
