< ʻIsaia 47 >

1 “ʻAlu hifo, pea nofo ʻi he efuefu, ʻE ʻofefine tāupoʻou ʻo Papilone, nofo ʻi he kelekele: ʻE ʻofefine ʻoe kakai Kalitia, ʻoku ʻikai ha nofoʻanga fakaʻeiʻeiki: ʻe ʻikai toe ui koe ko e hoihoifua mo e ngalingali ʻeiki.
Come downe and sit in the dust: O virgine, daughter Babel, sit on the ground: there is no throne, O daughter of the Chaldeans: for thou shalt no more be called, Tender and delicate.
2 Toʻo ʻae ngaahi maka momosi, pea momosi ʻae koane: toʻo ʻae pūlou ʻo ho louʻulu, vete ho kofu tōtōlofa, toʻo ʻae ʻufiʻufi ʻo ho vaʻe, aʻa ʻi he ngaahi vaitafe.
Take the mill stones, and grinde meale: loose thy lockes: make bare the feete: vncouer the legge, and passe through the floods.
3 ‌ʻE toʻo ʻae ʻufiʻufi ʻo hoʻo telefua, ʻio, ʻe hā hoʻo mā: te u tautea, ʻe ʻikai te u fakafetaulaki kiate koe ʻo hangē ko ha tangata.”
Thy filthinesse shall be discouered, and thy shame shall be seene: I will take vengeance, and I will not meete thee as a man.
4 Pea ko hotau huhuʻi, ko hono huafa ko Sihova ʻoe ngaahi kautau, ko e tokotaha māʻoniʻoni ʻo ʻIsileli.
Our redeemer, the Lord of hostes is his Name, the holy one of Israel.
5 “Nofo fakalongo pē koe, pea ke ʻalu ki he fakapoʻuli, ʻE ʻofefine ʻoe kakai Kalitia: ʻe ʻikai toe ui koe, Ko e fefineʻeiki ʻoe ngaahi puleʻanga.
Sit still, and get thee into darkenesse, O daughter of the Chaldeas: for thou shalt no more be called, The ladie of kingdomes.
I was wroth with my people: I haue polluted mine inheritance, and giuen them into thine had: thou diddest shew them no mercy, but thou didest lay thy very heauy yoke vpon the ancient.
7 Pea naʻa ke pehē, ‘Te u hoko ko e fefineʻeiki ʻo lauikuonga:’ ko ia naʻe ʻikai te ke tokanga ʻi ho loto ki he ngaahi meʻa ni, pea naʻe ʻikai te ke manatu ki he ikuʻanga ʻo ia.
And thou saidest, I shall be a ladie for euer, so that thou diddest not set thy mind to these things, neither diddest thou remember ye latter end therof.
8 “Ko ia ke ke fanongo ki he meʻa ni, ʻa koe ʻoku ke moʻulaloa ki he ngaahi meʻa fakafiefia fakamaama, ʻoku ke nofo fakafiemālie, ʻoku ke pehē ʻi ho loto, ‘Ko au, pea ʻoku ʻikai ha taha mo au: ʻe ʻikai te u nofo ʻo hangē ko e fefine kuo mate hono husepāniti, pea ʻe ʻikai te u ʻiloʻi ʻae mole ʻae fānau:’
Therefore nowe heare, thou that art giuen to pleasures, and dwellest carelesse, Shee sayeth in her heart, I am and none els: I shall not sit as a widowe, neither shall knowe the losse of children.
9 Ka ko e ongo meʻa ni ʻe ua ʻe hoko kiate koe ʻi he kemo, ʻi ha ʻaho pe taha, ʻae mole ʻae fānau, mo e mate ʻo ho husepāniti: ʻe hoko ia ʻo lahi kiate koe, koeʻuhi ko hono lahi ʻo hoʻo fai kākā, pea koeʻuhi ko hono lahi ʻo hoʻo fiemana.
But these two thinges shall come to thee suddenly on one day, the losse of children and widowhoode: they shall come vpon thee in their perfection, for the multitude of thy diuinations, and for the great abundance of thine inchanters.
10 He kuo ke faʻaki ki hoʻo angakovi: kuo ke pehē, ‘ʻOku ʻikai mamata ʻe ha taha kiate au.’ Ko hoʻo poto mo hoʻo ʻilo, kuo na fakahalaʻi koe; pea kuo ke pehē ʻi ho loto, ‘Ko au, pea ʻoku ʻikai ha taha mo au.’
For thou hast trusted in thy wickednesse: thou hast sayd, None seeth me. Thy wisdom and thy knowledge, they haue caused thee to rebel, and thou hast saide in thine heart, I am, and none els.
11 Ko ia ʻe hoko ai ʻae kovi kiate koe. E ʻikai te ke ʻilo pe ʻoku tupu mei fe ia. Pea ʻe tō kiate koe ʻae tautea; ʻe ʻikai te ke faʻa taʻofi ia: pea ʻe hoko fakafokifā ʻae fakaʻauha kiate koe, ʻaia ʻe ʻikai te ke ʻilo.
Therefore shall euill come vpon thee, and thou shalt not knowe the morning thereof: destruction shall fal vpon thee, which thou shalt not be able to put away: destruction shall come vpon thee suddenly, or thou beware.
12 “Ke ke tuʻu ni mo hoʻo ngaahi ngāue kākā, pea mo hono lahi ʻo hoʻo ngaahi fiemana, ʻaia kuo ke ngāue ai talu hoʻo kei siʻi; ʻo kapau ʻe ʻaonga ia kiate koe, ʻo kapau te ke faʻa lavaʻi ia.
Stand now among thine inchanters, and in the multitude of thy southsaiers (with whome thou hast wearied thy selfe from thy youth) if so be thou maist haue profit, or if so be thou maist haue strength.
13 ‌ʻOku ke ongosia ʻi hono tokolahi ʻo hoʻo kau fakahinohino. Tuku ke tuʻu hake ni ʻae kau kikite ki he langi, mo e kau sio fetuʻu, mo e kau fakaila meʻa mei he māhina, pea fakamoʻui koe mei he ngaahi meʻa ni ʻe hoko kiate koe.
Thou art wearied in the multitude of thy counsels: let now the astrologers, the starre gasers, and prognosticatours stand vp, and saue thee from these things, that shall come vpon thee.
14 Vakai, te nau hangē ko e kauʻi koane; ʻe tutu ʻakinautolu ʻi he afi; ʻe ʻikai te nau fakamoʻui ʻakinautolu mei he mālohi ʻoe ulo: ʻe ʻikai toe ha malala ke mumū ai, pe ha afi ke nofo ki ai.
Beholde, they shall be as stubble: the fire shall burne them: they shall not deliuer their owne liues from the power of the flame: there shalbe no coles to warme at, nor light to sit by.
Thus shall they serue thee, with whom thou hast wearied thee, euen thy marchants from thy youth: euery one shall wander to his owne quarter: none shall saue thee.
