< ʻIsaia 30 >
1 ʻOku pehē ʻe Sihova, ʻE malaʻia ʻae fānau talangataʻa, ʻaia ʻoku fakakaukau kae ʻikai ʻiate au; pea ʻoku ʻufiʻufi ʻaki ʻae meʻa ʻufiʻufi; ka ʻoku ʻikai ʻi hoku laumālie, koeʻuhi ke nau fakalahi ʻae angahala ki he angahala
Woe to the rebellious children, saith the LORD, that take counsel, but not from me; and that cover with a covering, but not of my spirit, that they may add sin to sin:
2 ʻOku nau fononga ke ʻalu hifo ki ʻIsipite ke fakamālohi ʻakinautolu ʻi he mālohi ʻo Felo, pea ke faʻaki ki he malu ʻo ʻIsipite; ka naʻe ʻikai te nau fehuʻi ki hoku fofonga!
That walk to go down into Egypt, and have not asked at my mouth; to strengthen themselves in the strength of Pharaoh, and to trust in the shade of Egypt!
3 Ko ia ʻe hoko ʻae mālohi ʻo Felo ko homou manga, pea ko e falala ki he malu ʻo ʻIsipite ko homou maveuveu.
Therefore shall the strength of Pharaoh be your shame, and the trust in the shade of Egypt [your] confusion.
4 He ko hono ngaahi houʻeiki naʻe ʻi Soani, pea naʻe haʻu ʻene kau talafekau ki Hanesi.
For his princes were at Zoan, and his embassadors came to Hanes.
5 Naʻa nau mā kotoa pē ʻi he kakai naʻe taʻeʻaonga kiate kinautolu, naʻe ʻikai ko ha tokoni pe ko e ʻaonga, ka ko e fakamā pea mo e ongokovi.
They were all ashamed of a people [that] could not profit them, nor be a help nor profit, but a shame, and also a reproach.
6 Ko e kavenga ʻoe ngaahi manu ʻoku ʻave ki he potu tonga: ki he fonua ʻoe mamahi mo e ongosia, ʻaia ʻoku haʻu mei ai ʻae laione mui mo e laione motuʻa, ʻae ngata fekai pea mo e ngata afi ʻoku puna, te nau fua ʻenau koloa ʻi he uma ʻoe fanga ʻasi mui, mo ʻenau ngaahi meʻa ʻi he hula ʻoe fanga kāmeli, ki ha kakai ʻe ʻikai ʻaonga kiate kinautolu.
The burden of the beasts of the south: into the land of trouble and anguish, from whence [come] the young and the old lion, the viper and flying serpent, they will carry their riches upon the shoulders of young asses, and their treasures upon the bunches of camels, to a people [that] shall not profit [them].
7 He ko e meʻa vaʻinga pea taʻeʻaonga, ʻae tokoni mei he kakai ʻo ʻIsipite, ko ia kuo u kalanga ʻi he meʻa ni, Ko honau mālohi ke nofo pe.
For the Egyptian shall help in vain, and to no purpose: therefore have I cried concerning this, Their strength [is] to sit still.
8 Te ke ʻalu ni ʻo tohi ia ʻi honau ʻao ʻi he palepale, pea tohi ia ʻi ha tohi koeʻuhi ko e kuonga ki mui ʻo taʻengata pea taʻengata.
Now go, write it before them in a table, and note it in a book, that it may be for the time to come for ever and ever:
9 ʻO pehē, ko e kakai angatuʻu eni, ko e fānau loi, ko e fānau ʻoku ʻikai fie fanongo ki he fono ʻa Sihova:
That this [is] a rebellious people, lying children, children [that] will not hear the law of the LORD:
10 ʻOku nau pehē ki he kau kikite, ʻoua naʻa mamata, pea ki he kau palōfita, ʻoua ʻe fakahā kiate kimautolu ʻae ngaahi meʻa totonu; lea ʻaki kiate kimautolu ʻae ngaahi meʻa mālie, kikite ʻaki ʻae ngaahi kākā:
Who say to the seers, See not; and to the prophets, Prophesy not to us right things, speak to us smooth things, prophesy deceits:
11 Tuʻu ki he ʻatā mei he hala, afe atu mei he hala, tuku ke mole ʻi hotau ʻao ʻae tokotaha māʻoniʻoni ʻo ʻIsileli.
Withdraw from the way, turn aside from the path, cause the Holy One of Israel to cease from before us.
12 Ko ia ʻoku pehē ʻe he tokotaha māʻoniʻoni ʻo ʻIsileli, Ko e meʻa ʻi hoʻomou fehiʻa ki he folofola ni, pea falala ki he fakamālohi mo e mioʻi, mo faʻaki ki ai:
Wherefore thus saith the Holy One of Israel, Because ye despise this word, and trust in oppression and perverseness, and lean upon it:
13 Ko ia ʻe hoko kiate kimoutolu ʻae hia ni ʻo hangē ʻae foaʻi ha ʻā maka ʻoku teitei hinga, ʻo hangē ko ha mafahi ʻi ha ʻā māʻolunga ʻoku hoko hono maumau fakafokifā ʻi ha kemo pe taha.
Therefore this iniquity shall be to you as a breach ready to fall, swelling out in a high wall, whose breaking cometh suddenly at an instant.
14 Pea te ne maumau ia ʻo hangē ko e maumau ʻae ipu ʻoe tufunga ngaohi ipu ʻaia kuo foaʻi ʻo lailai; ʻe ʻikai te ne taʻofi: ko ia ʻe ʻikai ʻilo ʻi hono pā ʻo ia ha konga ke vela ʻi he veʻe afi, pe ʻutu ʻaki ha vai mei he luo.
And he shall break it as the breaking of the potter's vessel that is broken in pieces; he shall not spare: so that there shall not be found in the bursting of it a piece to take fire from the hearth, or to take water out of the pit.
15 He ʻoku pehē ʻe he ʻEiki ko Sihova, ko e tokotaha māʻoniʻoni ʻo ʻIsileli; ʻI he tafoki mo e nofo pe te mou moʻui ai; ʻi he angavaivai mo e tui ʻe ai homou mālohi: ka naʻe ʻikai te mou loto ki ai.
For thus saith the Lord God, the Holy One of Israel; In returning and rest shall ye be saved; in quietness and in confidence shall be your strength: and ye would not.
16 Ka naʻa mou pehē, “ʻE ʻikai; ka te mau hola ʻi he fanga hoosi; ko ia te mou hola:” pea, “Te mau heka ʻi he veʻe vave; ko ia ʻe veʻe vave foki mo kinautolu ʻoku tuli ʻakimoutolu.”
But ye said, No; for we will flee upon horses; therefore shall ye flee: and, We will ride upon the swift; therefore shall they that pursue you be swift.
17 ʻE hola ʻae toko taha afe ʻi he valoki ʻo ha tokotaha; ʻi he valoki ʻoe toko nima te mou hola ai: kaeʻoua ke tuku ʻakimoutolu ʻo hangē ko ha ʻakau fakaʻilonga ʻi he tumutumu ʻo ha moʻunga, pea hangē ko ha fuka ʻi he tafungofunga.
One thousand [shall flee] at the rebuke of one; at the rebuke of five shall ye flee: till ye be left as a beacon upon the top of a mountain, and as an ensign on a hill.
18 Pea ko ia ʻe tatali ai ʻa Sihova, koeʻuhi ke ne ʻaloʻofa kiate kimoutolu, pea ko ia ʻe fakahikihikiʻi ia, koeʻuhi ke ne ʻaloʻofa kiate kimoutolu: he ko Sihova ko e ʻOtua ia ʻoe fakamaau: ʻoku monūʻia ʻakinautolu kotoa pē ʻoku tatali kiate ia.
And therefore will the LORD wait, that he may be gracious to you, and therefore will he be exalted, that he may have mercy upon you: for the LORD [is] a God of judgment: blessed [are] all they that wait for him.
19 Koeʻuhi ʻe nofo ʻae kakai ʻi Saione ʻi Selūsalema: ʻe ʻikai te ke toe tangi: te ne fai lelei lahi kiate koe ʻi he leʻo ʻo hoʻo tangi; ʻi heʻene fanongo ki ai, te ne talia koe.
For the people shall dwell in Zion at Jerusalem: thou shalt weep no more: he will be very gracious to thee at the voice of thy cry; when he shall hear it, he will answer thee.
20 Pea neongo ʻae ʻatu kiate koe ʻe Sihova ʻae mā ʻoe ongosia, pea mo e vai ʻoe mamahi, ka e ʻikai toe ʻave hoʻo kau akonaki ki ha tuliki, ka e mamata ʻe ho mata ki hoʻo kau akonaki.
And [though] the LORD shall give you the bread of adversity, and the water of affliction, yet shall not thy teachers be removed into a corner any more, but thy eyes shall see thy teachers:
21 Pea ka ke ka afe ki he toʻomataʻu, pea ʻi hoʻo afe ki he toʻohema, ʻe fanongo ʻe ho telinga ki ha lea mei ho tuʻa, ʻo pehē, “Ko eni ʻae hala, ke ke ʻalu ʻi ai.”
And thy ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying, This [is] the way, walk ye in it, when ye turn to the right hand, and when ye turn to the left.
Ye shall defile also the covering of thy graven images of silver, and the ornament of thy molten images of gold: thou shalt cast them away as a polluted cloth; thou shalt say to it, Be gone from me.
23 Pea te ne toki foaki ʻae ʻuha ki hoʻo ngaahi tenga, koeʻuhi ke ke tūtuuʻi ki he kelekele; mo e mā ko e fua ʻoe kelekele, pea ʻe lahi ia pea mahu: pea ʻi he ʻaho ko ia ʻe kai ʻe ho fanga manu ʻi he ngaahi potu ʻataʻatā.
Then shall he give the rain of thy seed, with which thou shalt sow the ground; and bread of the increase of the earth, and it shall be fat and plenteous: in that day shall thy cattle feed in large pastures.
24 Pea ko e fanga pulu mo e fanga ʻasi mui ʻoku fakamolū ʻae kelekele, te nau kai ʻae meʻakai lelei, ʻaia kuo fakamaʻa ʻaki ʻae fohe mo e lī.
The oxen likewise and the young asses that plow the ground shall eat clean provender, which hath been winnowed with the shovel and with the fan.
25 Pea ʻe ʻi ai ʻi he ngaahi moʻunga māʻolunga kotoa pē, pea ʻi he ngaahi tafungofunga māʻolunga kotoa pē, ʻae ngaahi vai mo e vaitafe ʻi he ʻaho ʻoe tāmateʻi lahi, ʻoka hinga ʻae ngaahi fale māʻolunga.
And there shall be upon every high mountain, and upon every high hill, rivers [and] streams of waters in the day of the great slaughter, when the towers fall.
26 Pea ʻe tatau ʻae maama ʻoe māhina mo e maama ʻoe laʻā, pea ʻe liunga fitu hono lahi hake ʻoe maama ʻoe laʻā, ʻo hangē ko e maama ʻoe ʻaho ʻe fitu, ʻi he ʻaho ʻoku nonoʻo ai ʻe Sihova ʻae lavea ʻo hono kakai, pea fakamoʻui ʻae volu ʻo honau teʻia.
Moreover the light of the moon shall be as the light of the sun, and the light of the sun shall be seven-fold, as the light of seven days, in the day that the LORD bindeth up the breach of his people, and healeth the stroke of their wound.
27 Vakai, ʻoku haʻu ʻae huafa ʻo Sihova mei he mamaʻo, ʻoku vela ʻi hono houhau, pea ʻoku mamafa ʻae kavenga ʻo ia: ʻoku fonu hono muʻa fofonga ʻi he houhau, pea hangē ko e afi fakaʻauha hono ʻelelo.
Behold, the name of the LORD cometh from far, burning [with] his anger, and the burden [of it is] heavy: his lips are full of indignation, and his tongue as a devouring fire:
28 Pea ko ʻene mānava, ʻoku hangē ko e vaitafe ʻoku lōfia, ʻe hake ia ʻo aʻu ki he kia, ke lī ki ʻolunga ʻae ngaahi puleʻanga ʻaki ʻae fohe ʻoe malaʻia: pea ʻe ai ha meʻa taʻofi ʻi he ngao ʻoe kakai, ke fakahalaʻi ʻakinautolu.
And his breath, as an overflowing stream, shall reach to the midst of the neck, to sift the nations with the sieve of vanity: and [there shall be] a bridle in the jaws of the people, causing [them] to err.
29 Te mou fai ha hiva, ʻo hangē ko e pō ʻoka fai ai ʻae fakataha māʻoniʻoni; pea maʻu mo e fiefia ʻoe loto, ʻo hangē ha taha ʻoku ʻalu mo e meʻa ifi ke haʻu ki he moʻunga ʻo Sihova, ki he Toko Taha Māfimafi ʻo ʻIsileli.
Ye shall have a song, as in the night, [when] a holy solemnity is kept; and gladness of heart, as when one goeth with a pipe to come upon the mountain of the LORD, to the mighty One of Israel.
30 Pea ʻe fakaongo atu ʻe Sihova hono leʻo mālohi, pea ʻe fakahā ʻae tuku hifo ʻa hono nima, ʻaki ʻae māsila ʻo hono houhau, pea mo e ulo ʻoe afi fakaʻauha, ʻaki ʻae veteki, mo e afā, mo e ʻuha maka.
And the LORD shall cause his glorious voice to be heard, and shall show the lighting down of his arm, with the indignation of [his] anger, and [with] the flame of a devouring fire, [with] scattering, and tempest, and hailstones.
31 Ko e leʻo ʻo Sihova ʻe tā hifo ai ʻae kakai ʻo ʻAsilia, ʻaia naʻe tā ʻaki honau tokotoko.
For through the voice of the LORD shall the Assyrian be beaten down, [who] smote with a rod.
32 Pea ko e potu kotoa pē ʻe ʻalu ia ki ai, ʻe ʻi ai ʻae meʻa tā ʻoe tautea, ʻaia ʻe ai mamafa ʻe Sihova kiate ia: ʻe ʻalu mo ia ʻae ngaahi lali iiki mo e haʻape: pea ʻi he ngaahi tau fakamanavahē te ne tauʻi ʻakinautolu.
And [in] every place where the grounded staff shall pass, which the LORD shall lay upon him, [it] shall be with tabrets and harps: and in battles of shaking will he fight with it.
33 He kuo tuʻutuʻuni ʻi muʻa ʻa Tofeti; ʻio, kuo teuteu ia maʻa e tuʻi; kuo ne ngaohi ia ke loloto pea laulahi: ko e fokotuʻunga ia ʻoe afi mo e fefie lahi: ʻoku tutu ia ʻe he mānava ʻa Sihova, ʻo hangē ko e sulifa ʻoku tafe.
For Tophet [is] ordained of old; yes, for the king it is prepared; he hath made [it] deep [and] large: the pile of it [is] fire and much wood; the breath of the LORD, like a stream of brimstone, doth kindle it.
