ரூத் 2
1 ௧ நகோமிக்கு அவளுடைய கணவனாகிய எலிமெலேக்கின் உறவின்முறையில் போவாஸ் என்னும் பெயருள்ள மிகுந்த ஆஸ்திக்காரனாகிய இனத்தான் ஒருவன் இருந்தான்.
Now, Naomi, had an acquaintance of her husband’s, a man of great integrity, of the family of Elimelech, —whose name, was Boaz.
2 ௨ மோவாபிய பெண்ணாகிய ரூத் என்பவள் நகோமியைப் பார்த்து: நான் வயல்வெளிக்குப் போய், யாருடைய கண்களில் எனக்குத் தயவு கிடைக்குமோ, அவர் பின்னே போய் கதிர்களைப் பொறுக்கிக்கொண்டு வருகிறேன் என்றாள்; அதற்கு இவள்: என் மகளே, போ என்றாள்.
And Ruth the Moabitess said unto Naomi—Let me go, I pray thee, to the field, and glean ears of corn after him in whose eyes I may find favour. And she said to her—Go, my daughter.
3 ௩ அவள் போய், வயல்வெளியில் அறுக்கிறவர்கள் பின்னே பொறுக்கினாள்; தற்செயலாக அவள் சென்ற அந்த வயல்நிலம் எலிமெலேக்கின் வம்சத்தானாகிய போவாசுடையதாக இருந்தது.
So she went her way, and came, and gleaned in the field, after the reapers, —and it happened to her, to light upon the portion of field-land belonging to Boaz, who was of the family of Elimelech.
4 ௪ அப்பொழுது போவாஸ் பெத்லெகேமிலிருந்து வந்து, அறுக்கிறவர்களைப் பார்த்து: யெகோவா உங்களோடு இருப்பாராக என்றான்; அதற்கு அவர்கள்: யெகோவா உம்மை ஆசீர்வதிப்பாராக என்றார்கள்.
And lo! Boaz coming from Bethlehem, and he said to the reapers, Yahweh, be with you! and they said to him, Yahweh bless thee!
5 ௫ பின்பு போவாஸ் அறுக்கிறவர்களின்மேல் கண்காணியாக வைக்கப்பட்ட தன் வேலைக்காரனை நோக்கி: இந்தப் பெண்பிள்ளை யாருடையவள் என்று கேட்டான்.
Then said Boaz to his young man, that was set over the reapers, —Whose is this maiden?
6 ௬ அறுக்கிறவர்களின்மேல் கண்காணியாக வைக்கப்பட்ட அந்த வேலைக்காரன் மறுமொழியாக: இவள் மோவாப் தேசத்திலிருந்து நகோமியோடு வந்த மோவாபியப் பெண்பிள்ளை.
And the young man that was set over the reapers answered and said, —The Moabitish maiden, is she who came back with Naomi, out of the country of Moab;
7 ௭ அறுக்கிறவர்களின் பின்னே அரிக்கட்டுகளிலிருந்து சிந்தினதைப் பொறுக்கிக்கொள்ளுகிறேன் என்று அவள் என்னிடம் கேட்டுக்கொண்டாள்; காலை துவங்கி இதுவரைக்கும் இங்கே இருக்கிறாள்; இப்பொழுது அவள் குடிசைக்கு வந்து கொஞ்சநேரம்தான் ஆனது என்றான்.
and she said—Let me glean, I pray thee, and gather among the sheaves, after the reapers; so she came in, and hath continued from that time, all the morning until just now, and hath not rested in the house, for a little.
8 ௮ அப்பொழுது போவாஸ் ரூத்தைப்பார்த்து: மகளே, கேள்; பொறுக்கிக்கொள்ள வேறு வயலுக்கு போகாமலும், இந்த இடத்தைவிட்டுப் போகாமலும், இங்கே என் ஊழியக்காரப் பெண்களோடு இரு.
And Boaz said unto Ruth—Hearest thou not, my daughter? Do not go to glean in any other field, neither indeed shalt thou pass on, from hence, —but, here, shalt thou keep fast by my maidens:
9 ௯ அவர்கள் அறுப்பு அறுக்கும் வயலை நீ பார்த்து, அவர்கள் பின்னே போ; ஒருவரும் உன்னைத் தொடாதபடிக்கு, வேலைக்காரர்களுக்குக் கட்டளையிட்டிருக்கிறேன்; உனக்குத் தாகம் எடுத்தால், தண்ணீர்க்குடங்களிடத்திற்குப் போய், வேலைக்காரர்கள் மொண்டுகொண்டு வருகிறதிலே குடிக்கலாம் என்றான்.
thine eyes, be on the field which they shall reap, and go thou after them, Have I not commanded the young men, that they touch thee not? And, when thou art athirst, then go unto the vessels, and drink of what the young men shall draw.
10 ௧0 அப்பொழுது அவள் தரையிலே முகங்குப்புற விழுந்து வணங்கி: நான் அந்நிய தேசத்தைச் சேர்ந்தவளாக இருக்க, நீர் என்னை விசாரிக்கும்படி எனக்கு எதினாலே உம்முடைய கண்களில் தயவு கிடைத்தது என்றாள்.
Then she fell upon her face, and bowed herself to the ground, —and said unto him—Wherefore have I found favour in thine eyes, that thou shouldest take notice of me, seeing that, I, am, a stranger?
11 ௧௧ அதற்கு போவாஸ் மறுமொழியாக: உன் கணவன் மரணமடைந்தபின்பு, நீ உன் மாமியாருக்காகச் செய்ததும், நீ உன் தகப்பனையும், உன் தாயையும், நீ பிறந்த தேசத்தையும் விட்டு, இதற்கு முன்னே நீ அறியாத மக்களிடம் வந்ததும் எல்லாம் எனக்கு விபரமாகத் தெரிவிக்கப்பட்டது.
And Boaz answered, and said to her, It hath been, told, me—all that thou hast done unto thy mother-in-law, since the death of thy husband, —and how thou hast left thy father and thy mother, and the land of thy nativity, and come unto a people whom thou knewest not, aforetime.
12 ௧௨ உன் செயல்களுக்குத் தகுந்த பலனைக் யெகோவா உனக்குக் கட்டளையிடுவாராக; இஸ்ரவேலின் தேவனாகிய யெகோவாவுடைய சிறகுகளின்கீழ் அடைக்கலமாக வந்த உனக்கு அவராலே நிறைவான பலன் கிடைப்பதாக என்றான்.
Yahweh recompense thy deed, —and let thy reward be full from Yahweh, the God of Israel, unto whom thou hast come to take refuge under his wings.
13 ௧௩ அதற்கு அவள்: என் ஆண்டவனே, உம்முடைய கண்களில் எனக்குத் தயவு கிடைக்கவேண்டும்; நான் உம்முடைய வேலைக்காரிகளில் ஒருத்திக்கும் சமமாக இல்லாவிட்டாலும், நீர் எனக்கு ஆறுதல் சொல்லி உம்முடைய அடியாளாகிய என்னோடு தயவாகப் பேசினீரே என்றாள்.
And she said—Let me find favour in thine eyes, my lord, for that thou hast comforted me, and for that thou hast spoken unto the heart of thy handmaid, —though, I, be not as, one of thine own handmaidens.
14 ௧௪ பின்பு போவாஸ் சாப்பாட்டு நேரத்தில் அவளைப் பார்த்து: நீ இங்கே வந்து, இந்த அப்பத்தைப் சாப்பிட, புளிப்பான திராட்சை ரசத்திலே உன் அப்பத் துண்டுகளைத் தோய்த்துக்கொள் என்றான். அப்படியே அவள் அறுப்பு அறுக்கிறவர்களின் அருகில் உட்கார்ந்தாள்; அவளுக்கு வறுத்த கோதுமையைக் கொடுத்தான்; அவள் சாப்பிட்டு, திருப்தியடைந்து, மீதியானதை வைத்துக்கொண்டாள்.
And Boaz said to her at mealtime—Draw nigh hither, and eat of the bread, and dip thy morsel in the vinegar. So she sat beside the reapers, and there was reached to her parched corn, and she did eat and was satisfied, and left thereof remaining.
15 ௧௫ அவள் கதிர் பொறுக்கிக்கொள்ள எழுந்தபோது, போவாஸ் தன்னுடைய வேலைக்காரர்களை நோக்கி: அவள் அரிக்கட்டுகள் நடுவே பொறுக்கிக்கொள்ளட்டும்; அவளை ஒன்றும் சொல்லவேண்டாம்.
And, when she rose up to glean, Boaz commanded his young men, saying—Even between the sheaves, let her glean, and reproach her not;
16 ௧௬ அவள் பொறுக்கிக்கொள்ளும்படி அவளுக்காக அரிகளிலே சிலவற்றைச் சிந்திவிடுங்கள், அவளை அதட்டாமல் இருங்கள் என்று கட்டளையிட்டான்.
yea moreover, draw out, for her, from the bundles, —and leave behind that she may glean it, and rebuke her not.
17 ௧௭ அப்படியே அவள் மாலைநேரம்வரைக்கும் வயலிலே கதிர் பொறுக்கினாள்; பொறுக்கினதை அவள் தட்டி அடித்துமுடிக்கும்போது, அது ஏறக்குறைய ஒரு மரக்கால் வாற்கோதுமையாக இருந்தது.
So she gleaned in the field, until the evening, —and beat out that which she had gleaned, and there was about an ephah of barley.
18 ௧௮ அவள் அதை எடுத்துக்கொண்டு ஊருக்குள் வந்தாள்; அவள் பொறுக்கினதை அவளுடைய மாமியார் பார்த்தாள்; தான் திருப்தியாகச் சாப்பிட்டு மீதியாக வைத்ததையும் எடுத்து அவளுக்குக் கொடுத்தாள்.
And she took it up, and came into the city, and, when her mother-in-law had seen what she had gleaned, she brought forth and gave her what had been left remaining, after that she was satisfied.
19 ௧௯ அப்பொழுது அவளுடைய மாமியார்: இன்று எங்கே கதிர்பொறுக்கினாய், எந்த இடத்தில் வேலைசெய்தாய் என்று அவளிடம் கேட்டு; உன்னை விசாரித்தவன் ஆசீர்வதிக்கப்படுவானாக என்றாள்; அப்பொழுது அவள் இன்னாரிடத்திலே வேலைசெய்தேன் என்று தன் மாமியாருக்கு அறிவித்து: நான் இன்று வேலைசெய்த வயல்காரனுடைய பெயர் போவாஸ் என்றாள்.
And her mother-in-law said to her—In what place hast thou gleaned, today? and where hast thou wrought? May he that took notice of thee, be blessed! So she told her mother-in-law, with whom she had wrought, and said—The name of the man with whom I wrought today, is Boaz.
20 ௨0 அப்பொழுது நகோமி தன் மருமகளைப் பார்த்து: உயிரோடிருக்கிறவர்களுக்கும் மரித்தவர்களுக்கும் தயவு செய்கிற யெகோவாவாலே அவன் ஆசீர்வதிக்கப்படுவானாக என்றாள்; பின்னும் நகோமி அவளைப் பார்த்து: அந்த மனிதன் நமக்கு நெருங்கின உறவின் முறையானும் நம்மை ஆதரிக்கிற பங்காளிகளில் ஒருவனுமாக இருக்கிறான் என்றாள்.
Then said Naomi, to her daughter-in-law—Blessed, be he of Yahweh, who hath not left off his lovingkindness to the living, and to the dead. And Naomi said to her—Near to us, is the man, of our own kinsmen, is he!
21 ௨௧ பின்னும் மோவாபிய பெண்ணாகிய ரூத்: அவர் என்னை நோக்கி, என்னுடைய அறுவடை எல்லாம் முடியும்வரைக்கும், நீ என் வேலைக்காரிகளோடு இரு என்று சொன்னார் என்றாள்.
And Ruth the Moabitess said, —Yea for he said unto me—By my young men, shalt thou keep fast, until they have ended all my harvest.
22 ௨௨ அப்பொழுது நகோமி தன் மருமகளாகிய ரூத்தைப் பார்த்து: என் மகளே, வேறொரு வயலிலே மனிதர்கள் உன்னை எதிர்க்காதபடி நீ அவனுடைய வேலைக்காரிகளோடு போகிறது நல்லது என்றாள்.
And Naomi said unto Ruth her daughter-in-law, —Good, is it, my daughter, that thou go forth with his maidens, and that they meet thee not, in any other field.
23 ௨௩ அப்படியே கோதுமை அறுப்பும் வாற்கோதுமை அறுப்பும் முடியும்வரைக்கும் அவள் கதிர் பொறுக்கும்படிக்கு, போவாசுடைய வேலைக்காரிகளோடு இருந்து, தன் மாமியாரோடு வாழ்ந்தாள்.
So she kept fast by the maidens of Boaz, to glean, until the end of the barley harvest, and the wheat harvest, —and dwelt with her mother-in-law.
